Disabling Share Pane in Reader X

Hi, just moved this thread to where it should be...
I'm trying to configure options for a firm wide install of Reader X.
I'm wanting to disable the "use share pane when sending email attachment" option via the registry (this'll be done via scriptlogic).
I've found some online guides that explain how to do this, but they all reference this key:
HKLM\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Workflows\bEnableShareFile
But in the registries of PCs that Reader is installed on, the 'workflows' folder isn't there - I have Adobe Viewer, Installer, InstallPath and Language visible.
I've created an entry in the registry for the key and set the value to 0 as outlined in the quote below:
That key disables ALL of Acrobat.com services.  If you want to disable just the share pane:
HKLM\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Workflows\bEnableShareFile
That value is a DWORD and setting it to 0 disables the feature.

HKLM\Software\Adobe\(product name)\(version)\Workflows >
bEnableShareFile (Toggles file upload and sharing via Acrobat.com)
bEnableRTCAuth (Toggles live collaboration and screen sharing.)
bEnableDocCtrInit (Toggles initiation of shared reviews and forms.)
I've not yet added the extra strings to the registry, does anyone know if these will be necessary for disabling the share pane or not?
Thanks

No they are not, but to say that  HKLM\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Workflows\bEnableShareFile=0  only affects the Share pane is incorrect. It will remove the Share Pane and all the Acrobat.com service hooks from the right side of the Welcome Screen, leaving only a list of recent files (note that the adverts along the bottom of the Welcome Screen remain active).

  • Unable to follow links in pdf document which use asynchronous pluggable protocol on Windows unless we disable extended security completely (Reader 11.0.7) - is there any other way round this?

We have a pdf document which contains links of the format appname://some/path.
This is using Windows Asynchronous Pluggable Protocols which we have defined in the registry so these links should launch the application with the path as an argument.
If we disable enhanced security in Reader 11.0.7 then this works - otherwise it just fails to do anything.
With enhanced security on, we get warning and select trust this site for all pdfs.
Adobe then stores the first part of the path i.e. for appname://some/path it will store path in [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\11.0\TrustManager\cDefaultLaunchURLPerms].
Don't get warning after that but the application still doesn't launch if enhanced security is enabled.

Apologies was mislead - it's not enhanced security which is causing the issue, it is protected mode.

  • Share pane hanging after sending multiple emails

    Hello all,
I've got a problem with pdf activex integration control AxAcroPDFLib.AxAcroPDF. It is added inside a container of a windows form applicaton (.net), and the use case that I'm looking forward is the "send pdf as attachment using the default mail client".
By default, the option "Use Share pane to send email" is checked. When I try to send the pdf as attachment 3 times (same or diferent documents), the share pane freezes and no mail container pops up. This meant the user had to restart the application to continue use the send pdf as attachment which is very "awkward".  In case it has any meaning, this problem is happening on Windows XP SP3 32b.
If I turn off the "Use Share pane to send email" option, this problem no longer occurs.
Is this a known bug or a limitation?
    Many thanks,
    Miguel Figueiredo

Thank you for your time Irosenth,
I've marked the answer as helpfull since it clears out any doubt about misuse of the integration API.
Anyway, our users are happy with the workaround, so there is no big fuss.
    Many thanks,

  • Photoshop CS5 - How to disable smooth panning

    Hello.
I'm using tablet and I want to disable smooth Panning. It's very laggy to me and I don't like it.
Is there any way to disable it?

That checkbox is grayed-out because you don't have OpenGL enabled.  Perhaps you can't with your video card.
Is your computer a desktop machine or laptop?
If desktop, what kind of video card do you have?
Is your computer newer than about 2005?  If so, you can probably put a new PCIe video card into it.
I mention this because a new video card that would solve your lag problems, allow OpenGL, improve your Photoshop work, and generally improve the quality of your computing experience overall can be bought for well under a hundred bucks.  Check out the ATI Radeon HD 4670, for example, that you can get at one of the local high tech stores like Best Buy or CompUSA.

  • Disabling rightclick menu in Reader in browser?

How to use adobe acrobat API method/events to capture function keydown effectively disabling rightclick menu in Reader in browser?
Question: can anyone illustrate how to disable menu right click ? ive seen methods/events in the acrobat api that look to capture the rightclick keydown event but I dont know how to call/implement a function to pull this off.
I read that one might use the notification AVAppRegisterForPageViewRightClicks and do nothing inside the callback procedure to disable entire right click operation inside a Pdf. Sounds good but how?
The AVPageView has methods like AVPageViewKeyDownProc and that's registered using AVAppRegisterForPageViewKeyDown.
    I'm getting this from http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9/Acrobat9_HTMLHelp/API_References/Acrobat_API_Refer ence/AV_Layer/
I found this on "How to Disable right click pop-up menu items" :
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/441260
but I can't follow the posters own resolution which is to "We only need to use the notification AVAppRegisterForPageViewRightClicks and do nothing inside the callback procedure to disable entire right click operation inside a Pdf."
While that sound correct - how would someone implement this? Can anyone show examples ?

  • How do you permanently disable Tool Pane from showing up every time you open a pdf document in Adobe Reader DC 2015?

Just like 9.9/10 people out here in the real world, I use Adobe Reader to read pdf files and never (ever) use the Tool Pane for anything.
How do I permanently disable it from showing up, instead of having to close it *each & every time* I open a pdf document? The majority of people don't want thins thing covering up the page they are trying to read.

Okay, seems I've stumbled upon an ugly workaround but it works for me. I'm using Windows 8.1. Go to the install directory, i.e." C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader\AcroApp\ENU". Create a new subfolder (I used "Disabled"). Move 3 files from the "ENU" folder into the new "Disabled" folder: AppCenter_R.aapp & Home.aapp & Viewer.aapp. Open a PDF and no more Tool Pane! I originally moved just the "Viewer" file but if you clicked on "Home" or "Tools" on the toolbar you couldn't go back to the "Document." Moving all 3 files takes care of that issue. Like a lot of people I don't and won't ever use any of the tools. I just want a reader. Let me know if this works for you.

  • Disable/Always Hide Tools Pane? (Reader DC)

How do you disable the Tools Pane from showing every time you open a PDF file? I keep having to hide it and it gets annoying after awhile when one doesn't need it.

    Hi Morisatos123,
Tools Pane is a core part of user interface in Adobe Acrobat DC & Reader DC, so it can not be permanently disabled.
Some of our customers have raised the same issue & like then you too can fill the feature request form at https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
Let me know if you have any other query, we will be happy to help you.

  • Disable share function on acrobat reader on Android tablet app

Installed the adobe acrobat reader on a android tablet.  As the table is locked down for the most part with other third party apps, I also wanted to prohibit the ability for the user to save to acrobat.com or to share to other apps or internet.  Basically a view only reader.

There is a special subforum for the Android version of Reader:

  • Hiding Comment / Share Buttons in Reader X

Is there a way to hide or disable the "Comment" and "Share" buttons that are shown in the toolbar in the top right corner of Adobe Reader X? I am embedding an XFA PDF Form in a web browser for my web application and I do not wish to have these buttons available to the users.

Thanks GKaiseril.  Yes, it is Adobe Reader X (v10) I'm talking of.
That script "app.toolbar = true;" turns the complete toolbar on.
I was actually talking of how you turn indivdual tools on within the toolbar.  For example say turning the 'Hand' tool on.  The default toolbar setup (within the browser) doesn't have the 'Hand' tool turned on, amongst other useful ones that aren't turned on.  I'm looking for a way to programmatically turn those on for the users.
    Any thoughts ?

  • Disabling share drive/folder in UCC

    All,
Can we disable sharing of drives/folders like C$, D$, IPC$, Admin$ in UCC servers part of the domain, like Router/Logger/PG etc? Checked the ICM Security Best Practise guideline, but was not able to get anything clear on this.
    Thanks,
    Subhrojyoti

There is no technical requirement for the product that c$, d$, etc. be shared.
It may be necessary for the IPC$ share, as that is just a "named pipe" connection which could be necessary for sql, etc.
The other shares definitely make it easy to allow file sharing (i.e. of logs, config export data, and the like).

  • Is it possible to disable tablet pan and zoom?

I've almost finished with what's for me a very large Edge project (and I'm not a programmer at all, so I'm pretty proud of myself). We are testing the project and have found that the built-in pan and zoom tools that tablets contain don't really work well with the document I've created, and instead of redesigning, I'd just like to disable panning and zooming on a tablet. Is it possible to do this?

  • How to disable EchoSign in Adobe Reader 10, 11?

Adobe Reader 11 comes with a free EchoSign. We have our own standard eSignature so we do not want anyone within the organization to use EchoSign which is not approved enterprise-wise.
From Adobe Reader 11 installation / configuration / group policy, how can we disable the EchoSign feature (gray it out)?
    Thanks.

You can only digitally sign a file in Reader if the author of it added a Digital Signature field and enabled the required rights for you to do it.
Otherwise you can use one of the other tools under the Sign panel, but it will not be a real digital signature, just a comment.

  • Hide/Disable preview pane in Mail

Previously one could double-click the border seperating the preview pane from the list of messages to hide the preview pane.
In the Mail application in Mavericks this border is no longer visible. How can I hide the preview pane in Mail on Mavericks?

    Hi,
If you switch to Classic View in Mail Prefs, drag the Horizontal Splitter down to the bottom of the screen then switch back to Modern View, the Preview pane will be gone from both views.
