Disabling "shot detect" in FCP X

Is there any way to disable the auto scene detect in FCP X?  I've got a box of mini-dv tapes shot on a Canon GL2 I need to capture.  FCP has been "auto clip detecting" then into clips that are only a few frames or a few seconds long.  Is there any way to turn off this "feature"?  Thanks!

I can't see where to import over firewire on QT.  Maybe if I unplug the webcam it will show the firewire input.
I don't have a Firewire camera to test right now, but I'm pretty sure that if I had it would appear as an option next to the built-in iSight:

  • IE, Disable 'Automatically Detect Settings' Via GPO

    Hi guys,
We have recently been having a small problem with IE, whereby the 'automatically detect settings' check box will get ticked - resulting in our users not being able to traverse our proxy server.
I use the User Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > IE Maintenance > Connection to set up our proxy settings, however I can't see an option to explicitly disable the 'automatically detect settings' check box.
Is this located somewhere else in an admin template, or am I simply missing an option that is right in front of me?
    Thanks.

  • Firewire not detected by FCP with OS-X 10.4.10 (Tiger), worked fine w 10.3.

Hi all, hope some one can help, I just upgraded to Tiger OS (OX-X 10.4.10) from latest updated OS, now FCP dos not find the 720 x 480 Firewire Device for external video, I use an ADVC 110 converter that was working very well to "Print Video to Tape" on a betaca SP VTR, i readed most of the support pages, did the erase FC preferences on user folder, reinstalled FCP 4.5 (That is my FCP Version), also downloaded and installed the FCP 4.5 Update from the FCP Update Webpage, Also erased the complete FCP an all referenced files on my hard disk and reinstalled FCP, last i did was connect my Sony DSR 300 Camera and still FCP can't find it, It's only not detected on FCP, the computer DOES recognize both (ADVC and Camera) on the Firewire connection at System Proffiler, do you think that an OSX Clean Install would fix this ?

Before you updated to 10.4.10 did you do a search of these forum pages to discover what you were doing was going to be wrong? Evidently not. There are literally dozens of messages like yours warning of what would happen.
FCP 4.5 was optimized for OSX 10.3. Some people have been able to run it on OSX 10.4. But it's not designed to run with that.
Did you also update your Quicktime to 7.2? If so that will break many things. You must go back to Quicktime 6 with updates.

  • T430, disable "OS Detection for NVIDIA OPtimus" in BIOS, no graphic card can be found in Windows

I try to use my T430 minidisplayport to connect with external display. But it is so unstable that the connection between laptop and display can lost anytime. That is so annoying. I use Nvidia control panel in Windows to force use NVS5400M instead of HD4000, but it seems doesn't change anything.
I heard if I select the discrete graphic card in BIOS, then it may fix the display connection lost problem. Then I go to the BIOS and  set the "discrete", and disable "OS Detection for NVIDIA OPtimus" in BIOS Config Display (This is necessary otherwise the laptop will change it back to Optimus automatically.). But after I log into Windows, then no graphic card can be found, Why? How should I fix this problem?
The external display issue in T430 is so annoying. The VGA suffers very serious noise while the minidisplay is so unstable. Even worse, there is no any lenovo staff stand out to help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If anyone has experience, please share that.
    Thank so much.

Hello Mark, thanks for help. Please see my answers below:
    1. Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits.
    2. Yes, I did. The BIOS is latest (2.65). The NVS5400M driver is 333.02.
    3. My display is Asus MX239, which only has HDMI. I use an adapter cable: miniDP->HDMI and then an HDMI-HDMI cable I try to connect to a Samsung TV, but similar. I don't have a miniDP to HDMI cable. I just order one but has not get it.
Sorry that I post in multiple threads. As I mentioned in that thread, let me conclude all these here.
After I disable "OS Detection for NVIDIA OPtimus" in BIOS, then I istalled the NVS5400M 333.11 driver. Then the NVS5400 can be found in Windows. But the displayport problem still exist. It is still very very difficult to detect external monitor (this means in most cases I can't switch to external display), and even sometimes it works, the connection can lost anytime.
Even worse, I found a new problem, that if I disconnect my T430 with power supply, then I can see the "pink bar" appear and disappear in the laptop screen (not external monitor) repetitively, quickly. I have never seen this problem before, only after I install NVS 333.11. Then I reinstall the 333.02 driver. Then I enabled the "OS Detection for NVIDIA OPtimus" in BIOS again. The "pink bar" issue gone. It looks like the issue is caused by 333.11 driver. But this driver comes from Nvidia offical driver download website.
So now the most important thing I need help is, I need to have a stable solution to connect external display. In T430, there are only two ports for external display:
    1. VGA
    2. MiniDisplayPort
    Please help me following questions:
    1. When I try to use VGA, I can see very very bad noise in external display. This issue also be posted in previous thread in forum. This should be a hardware design failure. Is there any solution to fix this that I can use VGA without noise in external display?
    2. My T430 has both HD4000 and NVS5400M, if I need to use miniDP (which is I prefer, I have digital port why I use VGA.) for display. Does miniDP only work when the NVS5400 is used (it looks like that)?
    3. If miniDP only works NVS5400, so how should I configure to ensure the T430 use NVS5400 all the time? Do I have to disable "OS Detection for NVIDIA OPtimus" in BIOS or I can switch using Nvidia Control panel in windows ?
    4. Would you please provide me a configuration for T430 (include BIOS, and setting in Nvidia Control panel) that can support stable external display thru miniDP? Include driver versions and BIOS version.
    5. What are potential reasons that the external display can't be detected and can lost connection anytime with T430? To be noted, I already set to use NVS5400 in Nvidia Control panel. The case is also same I disable "OS Detection for NVIDIA OPtimus" in BIOS. I think cable may be a issue.
    Thanks again.

Normally it loads the previously visited page from the browser cache (which might contain session data or expired data, which could lead to bad user experience), but if you disabled the cache, then it fires a new request to the server side to show the page so that the user is presented with new and accurate data.

  • How to disable scene detection in auto analyzer?

I thought I saw this setting once, but now can't find it.

    You can't....
You can selectively disable the filters, the ones that each clip will be analyzed for. But scene detect seems to be a must-do before the analysis begins. Maybe for performance reasons, and for accuracy of the filters in each of the smaller clips.
Say if you have a 10 min clip. The first 2 mins has some shake in it. But the rest of the clip does not. If the scenes were not analyzed, the complete clip will not have a "shake" tag associated with it (Purely because 2 mins is too small a duration compared to 10 mins). Now if the scenes have been detected, the first two mins could be a part of a scene and that "shake" tag will be meaningful for this scene alone and not for the full clip. Hence the accuracy. Similarly for all tags and all scenes within the clip. To make meaningful analysis, a smaller clip is always more meaningful rather than a big clip.
I agree with them if this is the design criteria they used when designing the feature.
    Hope I was clear.

  • Mavericks iMovie - Disable scene detection

Greetings - I am in the process of converting old VHS tape footage into movies via iMovie 2013 (i.e. Mavericks).  So I am using the Import feature to import the footage.  The problem is that for some reason iMovie keeps breaking up my imported footage into multiple segments.  I want it to stop doing this.  I just want to import 1 clip of the entire VHS tape so that I can trim it the way I want, edit it, etc.  The multiple scenes make it much tougher to work with.
Is there a way to disable this?
    Thanks in advance - Mark

Let me be a little more specific.  I have a Panasonic AG-1980 professional tape deck that I am using to convert old family VHS tapes into movies (for our iPads, Macs, etc.).  The audio/video is being imported into iMovie 2013 via Firewire 800 to a MacBook Pro 17".  When I use the Import (capture) feature of iMovie 2013 the footage IS being imported correctly as a new scene BUT it's being broken up into many segments, which I don't want.  I just 1 clip from beginning to end.  Then I'll cut and edit it the way I want.
Is there a way to disable iMovie breaking up the import into multiple segments?
    Thanks!

  • Disable face detection

Face detection when you don't want it is a major obstacle in using iPhoto. How do I turn it off?

You can't.  After the initial pass when creating a new library the faces scan seems to be less invasive.  So we just have to ignore it AND send a feature request to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.

  • Disable face detection for projects

Is there a way to have Aperture, not to use certain Projects for Face Detection?

Bummer. That means Aperture is working on literally thousand of useless faces.
And I have to go through the effort of rejecting potentially hundreds or thousands of false hits for no reason whatsoever.
    My short-term answer:
    1) Recognize Faces only on a per-project basis with the contextual menu.
    2) Turn off Faces in Prefs unless I'm using them in a session.
    3) Cancel Face Recognition in the Activities Window if it starts up otherwise.
Apple needs to fix this. Aperture is not iPhoto.

  • Disable/Override Auto-detect for displays

i have a mini serving as the head for my media center. if i plug it into the HDTV via a DVI->HDMI cable it works just fine. detects the HDTV display options perfectly.
but what i would like to do is plug it into my receiver, where all the rest of my audio and video can go as well. that way i just have one video out to the tv for all my sources.
the problem is that when i plug it into the receiver i get generic display options on the mac (none of the HDTV resolutions) and the receiver doesn't know what to do with them. nothing is passed back out to the TV.
various cables, resolutions, and third-party software for playing with video output options have been tried. i'm hoping that, if there is a way to disable auto-detect for displays, i can output 720P/1080i as such and the receiver will recognize it and send it out to the TV.

  • Disable duplicate message detection

    Hi Folks
there is a way to disable duplicate message detection feature?
I need to deliver emails with same MessageID and Date.
    Thanks in advance
    Luca

    Hi Luca,
We can create the Disable All Duplicate Detection registry entry to disable duplicate detection on a Mailbox server. It enables any message to be delivered to a recipient with a duplicate message ID. It is recommend that you make
this change only on Mailbox servers that contain Journal mailboxes and no other mailboxes.
The ParametersPrivate subkey in registry to disable duplicate detection for mailboxes:
    1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
    2. Locate and then click the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/MSExchangeIS/ParametersPrivate
If the ParametersPrivate registry subkey does not exist, follow these steps:
    a. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key.
    b. Type ParametersPrivate, and then press ENTER.
    3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
    4. Type Disable All Duplicate Detection, and then press ENTER.
    5. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
    6. Type 1, and then click OK.

  • Detection problems in IE?

I discovered last night that the Javascript Flash detection
is no longer working in Internet Explorer on either of my
computers. The script cannot recognize that I have Flash installed.
I'm not sure exactly when it quit working, but I went back and
looked at sites I haven't touched in months that WERE working, and
it doesn't work on any of them now. I recently did a Windows update
on both computers so it's possible something happened, but I
haven't been able to find any info online about any issues. If I
disable Flash detection, everything runs fine, so my Flash
component itself seems to work properly.
On this computer, I have Internet Explorer 6.0.2900... and
the Shockwave Flash object lists file Flash9.ocx. I tried updating
to the most recent version of Flash on my laptop and that didn't
    fix the detection problems.
I'm using the standard script detection from Flash
Professional 8.0. The problem seems to be with the lines:
    set swControl =
    CreateObject("ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash." + CStr(i))
    if (IsObject(swControl)) then
The If statement is returning false for every version. Anyone
have any ideas about what could be causing this?
Edit: Ok, if I change the line above to:
    set swControl = CreateObject("ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash")
Then the IsObject() function returns true. And the line below
    that:
    swVersion = swControl.GetVariable("$version")
seems to return the correct version.
So far, in my testing, this actually seems to work. (Although
I can't be sure if it works on browsers that aren't broken the way
mine seems to be.) So did something happen that suddenly makes IE
not allow you to create the object using the version number? And do
you NEED to use the version number?

Sounds like there may be a problem with your install ..
    perhaps you have two
different play version on your PC (eg you've installed a
    newer version, but
old one didn't fully uninstall itself).
One possible solution (if that is the case) is to run the
    uninstall utility
from Adobe, then search your harddrive for any files matching
    *flash*.ocx ..
and if they are actually flash players (look at properties
    version info tab
to ensure they are macromedia/adobe flash player ocx's -
    don't want to kill
something to do with flash memory (say)) then delete them.
    Also kill off
the c:\windows\system\macromed\flash folder .. so then you
    have no flash
player ocx left. Then go to the Adobe web site and
    re-download/install the
latest Flash Player. NOTE: if you do this, be very careful
    you only delete
things that can safely be deleted without causing problems
    elsewhere.

  • FCP 7 Viewer is Darker than what it should be

In my current FCP7, while project and sequence is under Pro Res 422, the viewer displays darker images, i tried to change the System Setting>Playback Control>Gamma Correction to Approximate instead of Accurate, this increased the gamma(brightness) of the clip a fair bit, but even when comparing to a normal footage played in QT7 (with FCP Compatability disabled or not) in FCP, it's still a littlebit more washed, grey-ish, not as vivid as playing in QT7
I know this is a known bug, and i remember solving this problem last time by changing some codec somewhere in FCP project to another coded instead of 422, then back to 422 and that solved the problem, i'm not sure
    any help?
    Thanks

    Hey videogal3
After a bit of research back then, I found a temporary solution, I've now switched to FCPX so I didn't bother anymore, but here it is
    in System Settings under FCP7
    under Tab Playback Control
Under Gamma Correction: Change from Accurate to Approximate
Mind you, In my own experience, I dont think that's close to what u see in quick time either, but it certainly is better than before, at least not dark where u can't see. And after exporting, the movie is fine too
    So Yeah, hope this helps
    Cheers

  • Duplicate Detection Shows Clips That Are Not Dupes !

Let me admit at the outset that this is not a serious problem, just a curiosity.
I experimented with the "Show Duplicate Frames" command on a project and had loads of coloured lines appear denoting duplicates.
The only trouble is that there is not a single duplicate frame used in that project !
I then created another "test" project by importing a clip and breaking it down into subclips. I dragged them all from the browser to the timeline and then dragged another one that was obviously a duplicate.
It worked perfectly and the 2 dupes showed up in red.
So why has the original project got numerous false dupes? Incidentally this "problem" project was captured as 3 clips (from the same tape) which were then split into subclips.
Any ideas what is going on?

For detecting dupes, FCP looks at 2 things: the time code and reel number. If you have not changed the reel number from the default 001, and all your tapes start at 00:00:00:00, then you will have several clips with identical time code and reel numbers, which FCP will then assume are the same clips, just digitised at a different time. Not changing the reel number is a _bad habit_ because, if you ever lose your media and have to redigitise, you will be up the proverbial creek, not knowing what reel to put in when the system asks you for "Reel 001". Label your tapes and log your reel numbers!!!
