  • Dashboard Web Clip Widgets - "Time for an Update"

I have an issue with a dashboard widget that I created from the Safari button "Open in Dashboard" to create.
I used the widget on the following page:
    http://www.calottery.com/win/winning-numbers
The problem is, the widget displays a giant overlay:
Needless to say, it makes this particular web clipping completely unusable...

I would like to do this as well.
I monitor an internal web site that displays network traffic and it would be very convenient to do this as a web clip on the desktop.
Can someone tell us where the details for the Dashboard web clip are kept? Perhaps there are some additional properties that can be added to it from the back end that would get it to work. (A port number, 'https', credentials, etc.) It would almost be silly if it couldn't be done!

  • Dashboard Web Clip Problems

I have no problem creating web clips for dashboard and following their creation they appear in Dashboard and look fine.
The problem is that if I restart the computer or turn it off or log off and switch users, then when I return half or more of my dashboard web clips do not appear and give me this message ‘Web Clip was made using Safari’s ‘Open in Dashboard Feature’, open Safari”.
Why is this happening and how can I fix it besides recreating the dashboard web clip?

    Anyone help us out here?
I haven't had a clip work yet, although I've only tried 5 or so. It is not a great incentive to try more when none of them work. ::grin::
I get the "Web clip was made...." message on all my clips.
    Thanks. Joel.

  • Safari Dashboard Web Clip https

I'm hoping someone knows how to make an secure web site with a port (https://x.x.x.x:4444) for instance a web clip for the dashboard. I can easily create it but it of course doesn't work. It says it can't connect to the site. Obviously it requires a user name and password. I had already logged in and was viewing what I need when I created the clip. Is there a way to adjust the address that the clip uses and how does a web clip handle usernames and passwords? Is that something you have to pass in the URL?
    Thanks,

I would like to do this as well.

  • Safari dashboard web clips not working

When I attempt to make a web clip (on ANY site or page), nothing happens. Literally nothing. Dashboard does not open, nothing is created and nothing is added to the Dashboard items.
This has been the case with the last couple versions of Safari. I don't even know were to begin trouble shooting this issue. I did try tossing the Safari and Dashboard pref files. No change. That's all I can think of doing... Is there anything else I can try?
    Thanks!

    HI,
Reset Safari. From the Menu Bar, click Safari/Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset. Restart Safari and see if that helps.
If that doesn't help... Check Web Clip widgets
If you made Web Clip widgets, the webpage that it is the source of a clipping might be causing Safari to unexpectedly quit or Dashboard to no function as it should. Go into Dashboard and remove any web clip widgets. Then, if you can access the original website, re-create the widgets and see if the issue persists.

  • How do I make a dashboard web clip widget inactive and then delete it?

How do I delete a widget if I cannot access my dashboard because of that widget? Each time I open the dashboard it jumps automatically to a web page that wants to be the page I tried to web clip, but is just a blank page. I cannot use any functions of the dashboard.

Thanks dominic23, but the problem was that I couldn't reach that delete button in the dashboard (or anything from the dashboard, couldn't even see it for more than 3 seconds) as the dashboard would automatically redirect me to a blank web page as soon as I opened the dashboard.
I deleted the "plists" from the library affiliated to the dashboard (thus restoring my dashboard) and after I restarted the computer it worked.
Thank you for the reply anyway.

  • Dashboard Web Clip Changes

Hello, I have a web clip of tv listings from the provider. It updates when I open dashboard, but moves to different parts of the webpage. I am not sure why, it could and probably is that the webpage changes its layout when it refreshes the listings. But if it is something that I can do to the dashboard, I would like to know any known fixes. Thanks

I started getting this problem, too. Then, when I deleted the old web clip and tried to make a new one, I noticed the web clip function wouldn't work anymore. I could select the area on the webpage and size it, but when I clicked "add" and Exposé opened up, my web clip would not appear.

  • Can I disable sound generated by web pages ?

I'd like to listen to my own music and play at the same time with a flash application that doesn't have sound regulation. Isn't there a way to disable sound for all Firefox? Apparently there is no way to do that.

Yes, you can tell disable adblock on sites you choose. Go to each
web site one at a time. After the page has loaded, go to
the adblock icon and right click on it. One of the options
is to disable adblock on that site. Be very careful as there
is also an option to disable on '''''ALL SITES'''''.

  • Cannot remove Safari web-clip widget from dashboard

I created a safari webclip with a very high aspect ratio (it was longer than the height of my screen) and added it to the dashboard. When I went to click the i to edit the settings, it rolled over and is now completely off my screen such that I cannot access it to close it or remove it.
How can I go about removing this dashboard web clip widget with it being off my screen (but still using memory)?

    Interesting dilemma.
    One thing to try:
In the dashboard, click on the little plus sign so you get access to the "manage widgets" button.
There you can disable the "web clip". Maybe that will make the errant clip go away. I think if you
subsequently re-enable "web clip" you will get that functionality back but without that messed up clip.

  • How to remove web clip from dashboard?

I cannot seem to remove a web clip (from Reader) that is now located on my dashboard.
When I go to dashboard, web clip immediately directs me to the web page.
My dashboard is being held hostage by this web clip. I have tried going to Library>Preferences to remove com.apple.dashboard as per another posting - but cannot find it.
Can anyone help me remove this web clip?
    Thanks
    Dolores

  • Safari Web Clips Don't Bloody Work!

*Safari Web Clips Don’t Bloody Work!*
The problem: I was able to capture a web clip, dashboard would open and it seemed fine, but when I came out of Dashboard and closed Safari, they web clips would disappear.
I attempted to access them by clicking Dashboard>Web Clips and this would bring up a window which says ‘Web Clip was made using Safari’s ‘Open in Dashboard Feature’, open Safari”.
The above is written in the past tense because the situation has deteriorated since.
    *Fix Attempt:*
    Moved /Library/Widgets/Web Clips.wdgt to trash.
    Restored /Trash/Web Clips to /Library/Widgets/Web Clips.wdgt.
*Now Safari won’t even capture any clips at all!*
I can select a clip, but when I click 'Add', nothing, nada.
The endless list of problems with Leopard continues...
*Get all this for £85. Bargain!*
    Mr LinguaFranca.

If you're using a custom style sheet in Safari (Safari>Preferences>Advanced), web clips may not work. You may not realize you're using a custom style sheet, but if you've used an application like Safari Enhancer in the past, then yes, you are using a custom style sheet.

  • Disappearing web clip from dashboard, yet sound remains

Wow this forum is amazingly helpful.
I have one more little bug on my laptop. I made a web clip of a youtube video just to try out the feature and put it on my dashboard. Once I was on the dashboard I clicked that small "i" in the bottom right corner. Now usually that makes the clip flip over and you can edit it. This one flipped and disappeared all of a sudden. Now I wouldn't be bugged if any other clipping disappeared. However the sound from the video of the youtube clip remained. So now every time I go to the dashboard and if I am online the sound will go on from the video. I tried adding another clip to see if flipping that one will make it disappear as well, but it just nicely flipped and I was able to edit it. Also when I clicked that x in the bottom left corner to show me the rest of the widgets I was able to delete this last clip that i added. However the first one that disappeared still wouldn't show up.
Is there anyway to make it show up or reset the dashboard?
    Thank you in advance

    delete com.apple.dashboard.plist and widget-com.apple.widget.web-clip.plist from
username/Library/Preferences and log out/in. This should do it.

  • Web Clips in Safari Dashboard?

Just wondering if people have luck trying to set up web clips for their Dashboard.  I keep trying different sites and dont have much luck.  The only answer I get from Apple is that it depends on how the website is set up.  But something has to work
Im trying a few other sites and Ive got clips up right now (am waiting to see if theyll change in the next day as thats when it usually goes wrong)  but IM noticing now that whenever I open dashboard, I end up getting all these Safari windows opening with urls of https://googleads.g.doubleclick.net...
and it seems its happening even if Im nowhere near the webclip but even over another widget or a pre-installed widget like a sticky.
I did a search on that URL and it said it was some kind of error or Google glitch related to google ads etc..but that url keeps opening over & over & over but it's just a blank page...so it seems like even if I can get these web clips to actually work and update - they wont be usable if every time I open the Dashboard, I have a half dozen blank windows open in Safari.
Just seems like its a no win
I also wonder how can you tell which websites actually are written in a way that if you put a webclip into the dashboard it would work.  My lastest attempt at trying was using an editorial cartoon that I know changes every day or two
    Thanxx

dont know..but it just stopped doing this.

  • Sound not working on Youtube video embedded in webpage used in web clip.

I created a web clip and installed it using ipcu. On the web page I've created that I'm using for the web clip, there is an embedded Youtube video. The sound for the video is not working. Why is the sound not working? It works in safari if go to Youtube.
    IOS version 6.1
    Model: MD511LL/A

My computer also recently downloaded soundflower? I didn't approve of this change
I'm not sure what that means, but if Soundflower really is installed, uninstall it according to the developer's instructions. Back up all data before making any changes. Reboot and test.

  • Getting rid of web clip in dashboard

I've got this web clip that plays in the background whenever I click on the dashboard. Don't know how to get rid of it. If I click on the "i" symbol, there is no option to delete, just selecting a different theme.

click on the + in the lower left corner of the dashboard. every active widget will get an X in its upper left corner. clicking on the X will remove that widget.
