Disabling SSH sharing

Hi everyone!
I had downloaded an application called ToMacs, which basically allows me to exchange files over the internet in a secure shell (SSH) . But now that I have moved some files over, is SSH sharing is left eternally enabled by the app. The problem is that the application doesn't have an option to disable this feature, and now i feel like I'm stuck with an open backdoor or something and it really bothers me.
So my question is how can I disable SSH sharing? There must be, but so far my searches have been fruitless.
Please can someone help, I would greatly appreciate it!!...

I updated all of out Apple mobile devices and set up Family Sharing. I thought this would be a great idea. Quickly I was proven wrong. I liked the idea of linking my wife's account and mine, and the ability to add my kid as a child under my account (with his own itunes account). The ability for each account to be linked was convenient, but my problem, and many others I have seen posting online, is it being necessary to leave the credit card on file. Second is the premissions setting. This again is a good theory, but with children and their always wanting new games and other apps, it quickly became inconvenient to have to give permission to download even a FREE app. So here is what I would like. The option to add the ability to download free apps, and request permission for purchasing apps. If this in not possible, than the ability to completely disable family sharing, thus allowing me to remove my credit card info from the iTunes system and prevent unwanted purchases.
If anyone has any suggestions on disabling the family sharing I would greatly appreciate it.

How to disable Family Sharing

Tried to set up Family Sharing for wife and two kids. Disaster. Everyone is locked out for 364 days.
How can I disable Family Sharing?
I do not want my purchased content locked up in some Apple beta test.

Can't I just back out of this Family Sharing debacle and go back to sharing the previous way that worked fine? Just have everyone in the family use the same AppleID.

How to permanently disable the Shared Photo Stream on a windows pc

I've got the Icloud control panel installed on a windows7 pc. On this specific pc I only want My Photostream running. I've tried to disable the Shared Photo Stream - but when I log off my windows user account an then log in again, the checkmark next to the Shared photo Stream is back, and iCloud starts again downloading the shared stream. How can I stop this behavior? I want to permanently disable the Shared Photo Stream.

Try this method of duplication:

3. from the DU File menu select New | Disk Image from Disk 1;
4. Choose to format the disk image as DVD/CD Master, name the disk image and click Save;
5. When the .cdr file is finished select it with mouse and press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info and check the box to lock the file;
6. Choose the .cdr file from the left side list, click Burn, and insert a new, blank DVD or CD.

Disable SSH root login in RAC system

Hi Alll,
We have a oracle 11.2.7 RAC in Linux. As statement, SA will disable ssh root log and Nagios will monitor each nodes in RAC system.
As I know, Nagios only apply DH key for SSH. But Oracle RAC apply two type of SSH key for ssh_equivelancy in Oracle CRS.
Dees any experts have experience for oracle RAC and database when disable root SSH log in Linux system?

Security is not based on the number of keys one needs - but on the quality of the locks.Partially agree. But just like in real world one lock is not enough even superb. Why cars have imobilisers, defendlocks etc.? Why there is fence in front of some shop's door? It's very common to have two locks on front door. It's much harder (at least it takes much time) to break two locks than break just one. And the time matters. Back to IT security. Disabled root account is one of best practices and is reasonable because you can't 100% assure that your administrator is using strong password everytime. He might just forgot to change password after installation. He might set weak password just for "temporary" reason. You can of course force the password complexity but of course one you have the system installed.
So can passwords. Deep packet inspection can occur unknowingly. Perhaps we still talking about SSH, don't we?
The user may be targeted using social engineering, instead of targeting the actual computer system.It's much harder to get two passwords than just one even by using social engineering.
The question is whether such a server is exposed to an unsecured or public network. And one would manage the risks differently on such a server than one for example in a private network, protected by a reverse proxy in the DMZ, that in turn provides access from a public network.OK, so we've got another locks here ;-)

Do you know name of that account? Yes, partially agree with "obfuscation security" term. But in fact this is not for first time when obfuscation is used in security and neither for last time.
But you can't consider "PermitRootLogin no" and "wheel" group as an obfuscation.
Using encryption keys (public & private) is one answer to having to share and keep secrets. No, this is also not 100% safe, but I prefer it over having to know, remember and on occasion, share secrets (passwords).How well is your local machine secured? Are you using strong password? Do have all accounts strong password on your local machine? Is your local machine up to date for known sec. bugs (I don't mean zero days)? Is your local machine in separated VLAN or anybody from LAN can access your machine? Because if there are at least two "No" answers then how much time it will take for some skilled part-time worker (in your company) to break into your computer, steal the keys or even worse use your local machine to access the server?
Don't get me wrong. I am not against encryption keys. Of course I am using it but in combination with other security restrictions which come from "best practices". And to disable direct root access is one of those practices. Even NSA (and other security institutions) suggest to do that (see page #37): www.nsa.gov/ia/_files/os/redhat/rhel5-guide-i731.pdf Also security auditors check for disabled direct access to privileged accounts.
I understand this as good enough proof that disabling of direct access to privileged accounts rises security.

Disable Printer Sharing via .plist?

Hi All,
I am trying to find the .plist file that holds the boolean value for turning printer sharing on and off.
Via the GUI this option is located at:
Preferences > Sharing > "Printer Sharing"
I can see what appears to be the option located in this plist:
~/library/preferences/com.apple.alf.plist
and PlistEdit Pro tells me it us under:
firewall > printer sharing > state - with a value of 1 or 0.
Changing the option in that plist does not change the setting in Prefernces (and vice versa).
Reason: I have 600+ Macs on our network, and users have started enabling the check box thus sharing their printers via Bonjour to every other user - I'm sure you can imagine how confusing this looks when you attempt to add a new printer, and the problems when User A adds printers shared by User B and suddenly cannot print when User B takes their macbook away.
I would like to push out a profile to disable printer sharing. I can already disable access to the Sharing preference pane via profile to stop more users turning the option on - but it does not revert the change made by other users.

I am not aware of a plist but you could try modifying the cupsd.conf file (located in /etc/cups) and then pushing that to the +600 Mac's.
Within the cupsd.conf file there is the entry "DefaultShared" which the man page shows as;
"Specifies whether local printers are shared by default. The default is "Yes".
I just tried modifying the file now using the cups admin page (localhost:631/admin). You will see the setting "Share printers connected to this system". Disable the setting and save the changes. Then when you open the cupsd.conf in TextEdit you will see that browsing is disabled and shared printers, even if share enabled in Printers & Scanners, will not be visible on the local network.

Disabling external sharing in OneDrive for Business for selected users

Hello,
I have a requirement to disable external sharing option in OneDrive for Business for a few user and allow external sharing for a selected users. Is this possible?
What I know is, we can enable or disable external sharing for all the users who use OneDrive for business by configuring Sharing option for My site collection at "xxx-my.sharepoint.com". But I want to know is if it is possible to handle this at
user level by doing changes to "xxx-my.sharepoint.com/personal/user_domain.com" site collection.

Thanks Vasil for your reply. Yes, as you mentioned, removing edit option or admin access is not the right solution for my requirement. I just want to know why My site collection is tightly coupled with personal site collections. Many users will use OneDrive
to store data and share it with others internally and externally. So, as a security measure there should be some option to enable this only for a specific users. Hoping someone will give me idea to achieve this.

Disable ssh-agent on boot

hello, I'd like to know how to disable ssh agent since I don't use it. It's a kde dependancy so it cannot be removed. So is there a way to make it not start on boot?

Lock user from disabling ssh?

Our users use local accounts on each machine. Some of them like to disable ssh. Any way to lock them out of changing these preferences? They are admin accounts.

Aside from going down the route of client management, you could set up a root crontab which simply switched on SSH every hour or whatever. You may even be able to push the crontab out to the machine (as file /var/cron/tabs/root) via ARD (but I've never tried rewriting the actual crontab file - so be warned).
so line in crontab...
@hourly /sbin/service ssh start
Has to run as root (I think) rather than in user's crontab.

How do I completely disable Bluetooth Sharing without disabling bluetooth completely on Mac OS 10.7.2?

I'm trying to secure my Mac Pro that is running 10.7.2 and the only thing left that I cannot get figured out is how to completely disable Bluetooth Sharing without turning off Bluetooth altogether. Initially I thought that it was blocked in System Preferences -> Sharing unless you had an admin password, but it's the only option that is available no matter if the user is standard or admin. Is there any way to completely disable this box from toggling on or off?

Disable iTunes sharing

We would like to disable the sharing feature in iTunes for our 400 high school students.
Has anyone had any experience with doing this?
The clients are all managed by MCX (we are managing the allowed Applications from the Workgroup Manager) so a MCX solution is preferable but we can also incorporate a solution into our image if necessary.

I haven't tried this myself, but if you go to the Details pane in the Workgroup Manager preferences, you can import the iTunes preferences (add iTunes through the Add button) and change the settings if necessary (the Edit button), including the setting to disable sharing, the iTunes Music Store, etc. They'll import into the "Often" area, but you can copy them to the "Always" area (copy and paste each appropriate key) which should then push these settings out through Workgroup Manager to your workstations and prevent them from being overridden.

Does anyone know how disable iTunes sharing on a LAN? I want to be able to prevent users from sharing iTunes on our network. I know this can done manually through Edit-Preferecs-Sharing, but is there anyway to do this via Group Policy so that the settings can not be enabled by the user?
