Disabling stock calendar app notifications.

I'm using a third party calendar application and even though I have disabled alerts for the stock calendar app (it is under do not include in notification center), I still get duplicate alerts before an event - one from the stock app and one from the 3d party app..  For what it is worth, I have shared calendar alerts turned off and I have unselected all of my sycned calendars in the stock app so that if you look at the today view no events are shown.

As far as I can tell, the default alerts are all turned off.  Under the "Defaul alert times" setting all three (birthdays, events, and all-day events) are set to none.  I'm wondering if the fact that I have notifications turned on for the calendar on my MBP is someone interfereing.  I'm going to turn them off and see what happens.  Thanks for your suggestion, though.

  • Stock calendar app not showing GCalendar entries

This is in regard to the stock calendar app' which comes with the Samsung Fascinate.  I have all calendars selected as viewable too.
I do like I did on my old phone and also make entries into the phone local calendar "My calendar".  These events show in the time-grid-listing-location for their time of day.  I now also have combined those along with GCalendar entries.
Googles' do show as a dog-ear on the by Month (for their day), and, also on the Week, but never in the time-grid-listing.  "My calendar" entries "DO" show in the time listings.
How do I get the Google calendar (which, by the way, is synch'ed ... I know this also because the GCalendar entries show as a mass-listing at the top of a Day listing, but, not on the time-grid-listing, and, notifications via a GCal' entry work fine too) to show also?  Can they not, and/or, do I need to go to the market and get a better calendar app'?
Thanks in advance!  Not adverse to abandoning the stock calendar in favor of a much better/robust market-app'.  Curious which of a potential multitude is a/thee pick-of-the-litter.

I am almost positive the "MyCalendar" is local-only (only stored on the phone).  I have not looked for where it is stored on the phone (either internal mem' or the SD card).  I suspect you can find out there the naming convention of that file if you need to back it up.  I fear that hard-reset.
I roll 3 GMAIL accts plus the 1 local calendar (for stupid little reminders only).  In the new 2.2 Android OS, there appears much better view-ing ability between them, or all, and turning certain ones on and off manually (open the stock calendar app', hit the menu button, hit settings, and then hit calendars (bunch of checkboxes for all of your calendars, even those subscribed to via google)).
I don't know if you can pick a default calendar  -  mine always automatically chooses MyCalendar, and, once an event is created, you are stuck with that event in that calendar (little bogus).

  • Is it possible to disable - Outlook Calendar Email Notifications?

Hi all, hope you are well.
I have recently had a query from a PA to an MD where she makes a change to an appointment in his calendar even a simple edit, he obviously receives notification of this change. I have looked pretty much all over and am not familiar with such a function but
is anyone aware if it possible to disable this function as that is what they are asking for to happen.
So she manages his calendar and when she makes changes he receives the email notification, the question is simply is anyone aware of a way to disable this function? I'm of the opinion that if there is it will be a global rather than explicit function.
The other option I thought was to setup a rule in Outlook to delete such notifications I guess?
EXCHANGE 2010 AND OUTLOOK 2010 are in play here
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Any calendar apps available that give much more flexibility in scheduling intervals and notification times?

I am looking for a calendar app that lets me schedule like Outlook.  For example, Meeting occurs on the 3rd Wed of every month, or event occurs every month on the 21st, or every weekday, etc.  Also would like more options on notification timing than just 2 days or 1 day or 2 hours or 1 hour, etc.  What if I want 2 weeks notification so I can prepare special information, or how about 4 hours notification so I can drive to the meeting, etc.
Also something that will ACCURATELY sync with my Outlook calendar and NOT duplicate appointments!  As one example, Every time I sync I get ANOTHER instance of my daughter's birthday.  Yes I want to remember, but I only need the one instance.  Last time it came up I was reminded 7 times (all at the same time) about it.  I have to sync then go through the upcoming events and delete duplicates.  A royal pain in the ... behind.
I am syncing with MS Outlook 2010 on a Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit OS and my iPhone has iOS 5.1.1, and is a 4S (model MC922LL).  My iTunes is 10.6.3.25.
    Thanks for your help.

No point in whinging here, we are all just users. Use Apple feedback.

  • Calendar app and calendar notification not in the same time zone

    Hi,
I just update my macbook pro 13' retina to Yosemite.
I sync my calendars account (gmail, icloud and exchange) with the calendars apps to have all my event in the notification bar.
I just see that the event are not at the same hour (see picture)
Today, in Europe we change from the summer to the winter hour,
Is it the reason why ? is it a bug ? Am I the only one ?
    Thanks
    Thomas

I have a similar issue. Events sent to me from Outlook users or created by me in Outlook 2011 (on my Mac) appear 13 hours later in iCal both on my Mac and on my iPhone.
It seems that iCal in both OS X 10.10 and IOS 8.2 are defaulting inbound events to GMT or UTC time zone despite time zones on both devices being set to my time zone in NZ which is currently GMT/UTC +13.
It would appear that you are in Europe. Is your time zone by chance 1 hour different from GMT/UTC??

  • Calendar app in iPhone use relatively huge amount of cellular data

I'm using a 500MB plan, so my cellular data is very limited. Each month I will check which app on my iPhone used most of the cellular usage, and the built-in Calendar always used the highest amount of cellular data.
I already set the Calendar to sync to "Events 2 Weeks Back" only, and I installed Sunrise calendar and only use it to create new task, edit task, etc. So far Sunrise calendar is the only calendar app that directly access my iCloud calendar. So I can make a comparsion between the two.
I reset the cellular statistics a week ago. Today, the usage of Calendar and Sunrise are as follows:
    Calendar: 23.9 MB
    Sunrise: 581 KB
They are displaying the same amount of information, the only difference I think is Calendar use Push to keep updating itself, so it consumes this relatively huge amount of data. (>90MB each month!)
I tried disable the cellular usage of Calendar in the past, but then I cannot see the most up-to-date information in the Notification Center. So at last I have to re-enable it again.
Does anyone have similar problem? Is there any solution? Thank you!!!

    Hi Robert,
Thank you for the comments but I somehow think we are miscommunicating.
    1) I have no problem backing up the phone locally (or to icloud if I wanted to)
    2) I have no problem turning on or off cellular data usage for any app on the phone
    3) I have no problem seeing what apps are enabled or how much cellular data they use
    My problem is the following
APPLE's Notes app used 2.7 GIGABYTES of cellular data (before I disabled cellular data for this app) despite the fact I wasn't even using the app. I didn't change any setting for Notes, I didn't do anything with it except create one note on October 15. It would seem to me that this excessive usage is a bug or oversight in Apple's design of the app.
The purpose of this post is to warn others of the potential issue and to see if this issue has been observed by anyone else and if there are any actual fixes. Disabling cellular data for the app is a work-around ... but will the problem begin again if cellular data is re-enabled?
Your suggestion of erasing all content and settings and then restoring the phone from the backup sounds extreme but would it solve the specific problem of excessive cellular data usage and if so .. why?

  • Stock Clock app desk clock function

I've used the stock Clock app on my S4 (and previously on a different phone with an earlier version of Android) for alarms, timers, and a stopwatch. I only just discovered (because it's scrolled off to the right in portrait mode) that it has a desk clock feature as well. Sorry for the length of this, but I want to post on this in case others have not seen it either. (The user manual is hopelessly uninformative.)
When you tap the Desk Clock button in the Clock app (turn it sideways to landscape mode for easiest access), you get a screen with the time and date, a calendar, and a weather widget. (On my S4 it's an AccuWeather widget, which seems not to update unless GPS is on, making it less useful.) In either portrait or landscape mode, it's a handy clock to have on, especially with a kickstand. Press the Menu key to get Settings for options to display or not display the calendar and weather, and to access the system Date and time settings.
It gets handier when you tap the little icon in the upper right corner to make it full screen. Now it displays without the other Clock app buttons across the top. It also has four shortcuts across the bottom of the screen, for Alarm, Music, Gallery, and Internet. The Menu key in this full-screen mode offers more options, including changing or hiding those app shortcuts, and settings to hide the Status bar and to choose a background from your gallery or use the Home screen wallpaper (but a busy background makes the clock hard to read).
In this mode, the desk clock display is not affected by the screen timeout setting. It will display indefinitely. After a brief time, it turns off the background image (I hear two little splash noises when it does this) and just displays the time and date and weather on a black background, I presume to save battery. To prevent the remote possibility of burn-in, it even moves the items displayed around on the screen every so often. This display mode can also bypass the lock screen. With the desk clock in full-screen mode, press the Power/Lock key. (Again I hear not one but two little splashes when the phone turns off.) When I press the Power/Lock key again, instead of my lock screen, I get the full screen desk clock.
You may want to plug the phone in if you keep the clock displayed for a long time; even with the black background it's going to be using some battery. As far as I can tell, using the above procedure will keep the clock displayed as long as you want. Since it bypasses your lock screen, when you press Power/Lock to turn the phone on with the clock displayed, everything is available: you can just touch the screen to restore the background and access the notification bar, or press the Home button, or whatever.
Two last notes: The settings for the Desk Clock function also include settings for Dock, which I don't use and can't report on. Also, I don't have a PIN or pattern set up for my lock screen. I suspect that if you do, this will not bypass the lock screen, on the reasonable assumption that you want some actual security; but I don't know for certain, and hopefully someone with experience on that score can post a reply.

    Nice! Thanks for the write-up.

  • Yahoo Mail push problem with stock email app

It is nice to see that Verizon is offering push services for yahoo mail (and possibly for others as well, I only tried yahoo) on select phones now, the Droid Charge being one of them. If you add a yahoo account in the stock email app, it configures it through "Verizon email gateway server" and the messages will be pushed to the phone just like gmail had been, and you will get your new messages almost instantaneously.
I previously had an htc incredible and that phone did not have that feature. My e-mails were being checked at an interval that I could select, but not pushed.
What this email gateway does is (as I understand it): 1) your phone sends your credentials to the gateway server where they are stored, 2) the server connects to yahoo mail servers with your credentials, and 3) whenever there is a new message, the gateway server retrieves and pushes it to your phone, in other words it pretty much acts as the middle man that has a notification capability. The gateway server only accesses your inbox folder and it only does incoming services. For other things such as sending messages or checking other folders, your phone connects to yahoo mail servers directly. My incredible on the other hand used to connect to yahoo mail servers directly for everything including inbox access and unfortunately those servers do not have the push capability to mobile devices.
I got the Charge over two weeks ago and enjoyed push on yahoo for about ten days. But then suddenly it stopped working. It would no longer update my inbox even when I selected refresh through the menu. If I went into other folders, they would update and I could send emails. However, my inbox would not update. I waited a day, then I went into settings/apps/manage apps and deleted the cache and data of the mail application to fix a possible glitch. (It works on the market app when all of your downloaded apps disappear from the list every once in a while due to a glitch)
I ended up with a blank inbox that couldn't download any of the messages. Then I removed the yahoo account and tried to readd. Now I get the "Fetching mailbox failed, retrying. . ." error and sometimes it retries for up to a half hour (until I manually stop it) or sometimes it says "Unable to connect to server" after a couple of minutes.
Following is a list of things I tried:
    1) Set up a different Yahoo account:
Works without a glitch, push enabled
    2) Try the original email account with wrong password:
Gives a credential error, so password authentication is not the problem
    3) Manual configuration through selecting "Others" rather than "Yahoo Mail" in the add account menu:
Unchecking "Use Verizon email gateway" makes it work, but without push. My phone is able to connect to Yahoo servers directly with the same exact settings
I am pretty sure the problem is with the Verizon gateway server having a glitch with my email account. So someone in charge of that server has to go through the list of accounts set up and either reset or delete mine, so I can set it up again through my phone.
I called Verizon support the other day and finally talked to a level 2 rep after having to do the restart, take battery out and all that nonsense. It took them a while to understand the actual situation. It's not their fault really, my problem is complicated and a level 2 rep simply does not have that kind of knowledge. They tried to connect me to Samsung representatives, which was a waste of time, because there is nothing wrong with the hardware as it works with a different yahoo account with no problems, and it also works when connecting to yahoo directly. After spending two and a half hours on the phone, and after the rep talked to her supervisor and the samsung reps to learn more about the verizon gateway server, she finally told me I was right about the issue, and assured me that they would fix it and call me within two hours.
It has been two days, I haven't heard a thing.
What frustrates me is that there wasn't a single person there who could even grasp what could be causing the issue. They had never heard about the email gateway, I had to explain to them. I am not mad that the level 2 rep or her supervisor didn't know, but I am pretty **bleep** that they could not put me in touch with a person who did.
I know there is at least one person at Verizon who manages the gateway server, but the question is how can anyone contact him???
Verizon keeps offering these new services that are really cool for the most part, but their support system is very disconnected from their engineers/technical staff. The customer service is unable to fix problems other than billing issues, and their answer for everything else is to "take the battery out and restart the phone".
For now, I set up my account manually, without the Verizon email gateway, so I don't have "push" working. It's a shame because it is such an easy thing to fix only if I could get in touch with the right person.

    UPDATE:
After waiting for about ten days, I tried setting up my e-mail the regular way (by selecting yahoo mail) again yesterday. To my surprise, it went through without a glitch. I guess the cache of the gateway server must have been reset.
I have been enjoying push for yahoo mail for the last 24 hours again. But I just noticed now, that the problems might be starting again. There are recent e-mails that don't show up on my phone, but do through yahoo's web mail page. When I select "refresh" through the menu on the phone, I see the circle in the top corner spinning for as long as I wait, but the e-mails don't get downloaded. That is exactly how my problems had started in the first place. I will give it the benefit of the doubt and wait and hope that it fixes itself.
There might be a compatibility problem with yahoo servers and the verizon email gateway because I have two gmail accounts set up with the stock e-mail the same way, both using verizon's gateway server for push, and they have both been working with no problems for almost a month. (Even though sometimes the "push" is delayed by up to 5-10 min, most of the time it is within a couple of minutes and that's fine, I'm not that picky) And when I do "refresh", ti only takes a few seconds to complete the request.
And I still haven't heard anything from Verizon.

  • Calendar app stuck on another time zone.

I left Nigeria for Kansas, U.S. that's 6 hours behind so I changed the time settings on my phone to KS time zone but the Calendar app on my 3GS doesn't seem to understand that. When I create an event for, say, 8 PM today (to be notified at that time), I get a notification at 2 PM today—6 hours before the intended time. It's like Calendar thinks I'm still in Nigeria. I've been all over Settings and I can't figure it out.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks.

There is more than one place to change time. If you set the time to local, you need to go into Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendar>scroll down to the bottom under calendar and set the time zone support there for the local time zone.

  • Calendar list in calendar app is empty

I have about 4 calendars that come from various email accounts including iCloud email. They are all turned on in general settings. iOS 5.1.1 (9b206)
When I go to the calendar app, it seems to be slow. I want to turn off a specific calendar. When i click the calendar button in the top left of the screen, the phone hesitates. After about 30 seconds to a minute, the list drops down and it is completely empty.
I have tried turning off, and then on, all calendars in the mail settings and it still does not show anything in the list. I have tried restoring the phone and it still shows nothing in the list.
Is there a setting that I am missing?
I also dont have a default email setting in my general email settings. That option does not appear. Where as it does on a couple other friend's phone.
    Thank you
    Charles

    Hi,
While going through the demo I had/have exactly the same problem with the browsers IE7 complaning about js errors, Firefox 2.0 just sits there quietly and does nothing.
While checking the logs I found, this in the log for esb-dt,
    07/01/28 05:57:45.468 esb_console: Servlet error
    java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_1\j2ee\oc4j_soa\applications\esb-dt\esb_console\picasso\util\util.url.js (Access is denied)
This was exactly the same file my AVG Antivirus complains being a threat (.url.js) After disabling the antivirus i could log to ESB Console and see the services.
I don't know if it applies to your problem, Hope it helps

  • Calendar app skipping events

Once I set up an Event in Calendar, the default is that a notification appears on my desktop and on the screens of my iPhone and iPad.  In any event, that's how it works on my devices.
Because many of my Events are to remind me of tasks/chores which need to be done, I chose also to be notified by email so I could close the alert on my desktop, but still be reminded of the task each time I look at my inbox and see the reminder there, and only delete it from the inbox when the task was accomplished.  This way, I don't have to hit Snooze over and over until the task is done.
My particular frustration is this:  several of my Events, household tasks, are set up to appear every four days.  Since I have set up email notification, I can search for old notifications in Mail.  When I do so, I find that for a month or two, the email is there and the alert appears on my desktop every four days.  Then, for reasons I cannot determine, the notification will skip a date when it is supposed to notify me.
    E.g., https://db.tt/QUffjNyI
    You'll see several anomalies here:
    1.  Although email reminders are set to be sent to my iCloud email address, on two occasions they went to another of my other email addresses.
    2.  The events are set to occur every four days, but you will see several days on which notifications were to be sent, none were.  E.g., July 20 and 28; September 22.
    3.  Really bizarre:  twice, instead of showing that the notification went to my email account, it went to "All Mail".  What's THAT all about?
Is there ANY way to fix this?  I really don't want to have to pay $20 for a replacement for Calendar if I can avoid doing so.
    Many thanks.

is this the standard calendar app? if so than yes
here you find some information about the back up, which data will be safed there

  • Best calendar app? need repeating alert, not just once

I'm looking for a calendar app that keeps notifying me repeatedly until I acknowledge it. From what I've seen, most calendar apps (along with the built-in one) only have a one-time alert, or the alert will alert you every other minute if you fail to acknowledge the notification. I like to keep my phone on vibrate so this is a problem. I'd like it to continuously vibrate as if I'm getting a phone call, until I acknowledge the alert. If anyone can help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

You can configure a google calendar to sync any way you want (2way or 1way either way).  A gmail account is free - http://www.google.com/intl/en/googlecalendar/about.html
I don't use any "app" to keep my calendars sync'd - I use iCal on my MBP, calendar on my iPhone and iPad, and Exchange on my windows machine.  All calendars either read/write to the google calendar or you can set them independently to only read from or only write to it.
That is what I use to keep both my personal and my work calendars syncronized on my computers and my mobile devices.  So I cannot speak to any other options, sorry - I use google for all that.

  • Forwarding Exchange calendar invites from calendar app not working

We have Samsung Windows 8 phones and have discovered a problem with forwarding calendar invitations from within the calendar app on Exchange 2010 / ActiveSync.
User A on Exchange 2010 will create a new meeting request and send it to user B. User B will accept the calendar invitation on their Windows 8 phone. User B will then go into the calendar app on their phone and forwards the calendar item to User C. User
C does not receive anything nor does User A receive a notification that their original meeting invite has been forwarded. No error messages are shown on User B's phone. It's as if the forwarded item simply vanishes.
With the same scenario as above, if User B does NOT initially accept the meeting invite from User A and instead immediately forwards the invite to User C from within the MAIL app on his phone, before accepting the meeting, User C receives the invitation
as per normal and User A receives notification that their meeting request was forwarded, as expected.
If User B does NOT initially accept the meeting invite from User A, but then goes into the calendar app on their phone and attempts to forward the meeting request (showing as tentative as they have not accepted it yet), User C still does not receive anything
and User A does not get notification.
This appears to be a bug within the Calendar application on Windows 8 phones as forwarding meeting invites works fine from within the Mail app (provided the user has not accepted the meeting yet - once the meeting has been accepted in the mail app, the item
"disappears" and is no longer accessible except from within the Calendar app).
This is a pretty major issue with heavy calendar users (e.g. executives) as they will be forwarding accepted meeting requests from their calendars and without receiving any error messages will assume the forwarded invitation has gone through, when in fact
    it hasn't.

We have reproduced this issue internally and are filing a bug to get this issue fixed.  As soon as we have an update to this, we will report back on this thread.  Thank you for raising this issue.
