Disabling the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer 11

I would like to know if I can delete (e.g., rename) my 32-bit IE installation, thus forcing the system to run ONLY the 64-bit version. My IE 11 (on Win7) hangs several times per day, and it's almost always the 32-bit that's the "faulting application."
The faulting module varies (frequently MSHTML.dll), but I wonder if there isn't a crossing of wires, so to speak -- some sort of contention between the two IE versions that's causing the hangs, crashes, and even a BSOD.
In terms of memory allocation, per Task Manager a short while ago, the first 6 instances of iexplore.exe were all 32-bit, a single instance of 64-bit, then several more 32s.
If anyone knows the ramifications of my making the 32-bit version "invisible," and, indeed, what would be the best way to go about it, I would really appreciate it.

FlashGet is invoked only for very large (>1 GB), usually compressed files that would otherwise take forever. I disable seldom- and never-used services, and generally try to have as little as possible running that I can control. Windows, etc, is/are big
enough without having an asteroid belt of unused software as well.
Any suggestions for me? Everything seems pretty much mainstream except for FlashGet, which wasn't installed until 27 Mar. My problems with IE are of at least a year's standing, altho more frequent and severe more recently.
Thank you for looking this over.

Ada

  • Error: This dialog requires using the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer 7.0 or newer

    Since upgrading Internet Explorer to version 11 this error occurs when attempting to navigate a business related website: "This dialog requires using the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer 7.0 or newer".  Using an
    XP machine, there is no issue.  Using any Windows 7 machine and Internet Explorer 11 the error consistently occurs.
    Most solutions reference this: .NET Framework problems with Internet Explorer 11 http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn338133.aspx.  The solution is to create the registry key
    EnableIEHosting, and references an issue with .NET 4
    The problem description and solution fit my current issue, but when I create the new registry key (in both locations), the same issue is happening.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Most solutions
    suggest you try Compatibility view (for IE7 Quirks mode emulation) or the Developer Tools, Emulation tab for something else.  (F12, Ctrl-8).
    The problem is that the site is not designed to handle a modern browser and then its default is, when it can't recognize a User-Agent string, to assume the worst:  No capabilities.

    which is the best suitable version of internet explorer for windows 7 ultimate 32 bit

    Hi,
    Yes, Internet Explorer 11 is now available for Windows 7. It's the latest version of Internet Explorer for Windows 7. It's more smooth, stable and fast.
    IF you have some incompatible website, you also could use compatible view to load.

  • Is Firefox 3.6 compatible with 64 bit PCs? Should there be a 64 bit version of Firefox, like a 64 bit version of Internet Explorer?

    Firefox running normally in general, but here and there it freezes and I have to terminate the process with task manager; alternatively, I quit Firefox and it is shown as still running on the task manager

    The 64-bit Firefox builds will only be for Firefox 4.0 on Linux and Mac OSX 10.5+

  • How to use Internet Explorer 11 64 bits rather than the 32 bit version, on Windows 7 familial premium 64 bit

    Hi,
    my system : up to date computer, W7 familial premium (64 bit), Internet Explorer 11 (32 bit)
    I use this computer on the web to visit just one website, always the same and several hours a day ; this site advocate the use of Internet Explorer 64 bits for more efficiency.
    How can I get to install, or switch to the 64 bit version of Internet Explorer, as presently when I try to install a downloaded version, I get as an answer something like "installation not possible because the more up to date version of Internet Explorer
    is already installed on your computer". Thanks

    Hi,
    On a 64-bit version of Windows, please click system drive, there should be a “Program Files” and “program Files x86”,
     the "Program Files" folder is for 64-bit programs and the "Program Files (x86)" folder is for 32-bit programs, you will find IE11 64 bit has already installed in you system in “Program Files”>”Internet explorer”.

  • How do I determine what version of Internet Explorer is running?

    Are you using a 64-bit version of Internet Explorer?  You can check by simply selecting "About Internet Explore" from the "Gear" menu in the upper right corner of your browser window.

  • How to get the latest versions of Internet Explorer t

    We are running Single Primary Site with SCCM 2012 R2.
    I
    cant seem to find out how to get the latest versions of Internet Explorer to be included in software updates?  Do you have to download this separately and install manually?

    Like Henrik said, make sure you have the Classifications selected that you want to address. IE 11 is the current browser, that was added to the catalog a few months back. If you are searching for this month you wont find it.

  • I can't report a problem. It states I must have the latest version of Internet Explorer, which I have Explorer 8.  Seems to be some kind of glitch.

    I can't report a problem with a song on iTunes recently.  It states that I must have the latest version of Internet Explorer.  Which I do - Explorer 8.  What's the glitch?

    The Report a Problem within iTunes frequently seems to have problems. Go here:

    and follow the instructions to report the issue with the song to the iTunes Store.

  • Site wont' let me download the 64 bit version of adobe flash player

    I have windows 7 64 bit, but the site always gives me the 32 bit version of flash player, when I go to check my flash version it says I have windows 7 32 bit, next to the OP system, but I have 64 bit, when I go to the download page of the flash player, on top of it it says "operation system: windows 7 64 bit" but when I press download it gives me the 32 bit version, why is that?

    Flash Player is installing both 32 and 64 bit versions for you.  The Flash Player control panel will say 32 bit, but that is expected and correct.  The question is, do you use Internet Explorer 32 bit or 64 bit?  Most use 32 bit, in which case the 32 bit version of Flash Player will be used.
    How do I determine what version of Internet Explorer is running?
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • When is the 64-bit version due out?

    I can see unofficial binaries are out, but when are Mozilla expecting to launch the official 64-bit version? Working as a web developer my next project will require compatibility with 64-bit browsers as well as 32. In Internet Explorer there are differences, so I expect there also will be in Firefox. Thanks

    There are no plans for an official 64 bit Windows version of Firefox yet. Mozilla do have development versions but the only official release of Firefox 4 on Windows will be 32 bit. There will be 64 bit versions of Firefox 4 for Linux and Mac. The 64 bit version for Windows will be after the release of Firefox 4.

  • Acrobat XI did not finish installing because of old version of Internet Explorer

    Acrobat will not install

    Hi Frank,
    What version of Internet explorer do you have?
    Moreover IE interfering with Acrobat installation is highly unlikely.
    You might want to follow the following basic troubleshooting steps :
    > Enable the hidden Admin Account on Windows 7 ( Ref :  http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-the-hidden-adminis trator-account-on-windows-vista/ )
    > Disable all Non-Microsoft Startup Services. (Ref : http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/disable-startup-items-servic es-windows.html )
    > Disable all the Antivirus softwares like CA, Norton,Mc Afee etc. temporarily from the computer.
    Reboot and Install

  • Everytime I connect my iPod to USB, iTunes says the following: This iPod cannot be used because the required software is not installed.  Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes.

    I have the latest 64-bit version of iTunes on Windows 7 Ultimate.  Everything was fine until recently.  Now when I connect my iPod Touch to the USB to sync with iTunes, I get the following message:  "This iPod cannot be used because the required software is not installed.  Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes"  I have removed, repaired, and installed the 64-bit version numerous times as well as disabled all antivirus / adware utilities.  Same message appears when I plug in my iPod.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Did you try removing and reinstalling all the Apple software using these instructions:

  • Report on which computers have which version of Internet Explorer?

    Hi, Does anyone know of a simple report or way of reporting on which computers have which version of Internet Explorer?
    e.g. I expect to mostly find 7, but checking also for 6 & 8).
    As its integrated into the OS this isn't as easy to determine as with other products installed. I know there are simple manual check like "Help About" and HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
    Thanks.

    Hi
    Torsten is rigth, the reigstry path does contain version information (and other usefull information). You can get the information by:

    String MkEnabled;

    String W2kVersion;
    Uint32 IntegratedBrowser;
    [DYNPROPS]
    Instance of IE
    keyname="SystemCenter.fr";
    [PropertyContext("Local|HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Internet Explorer|MkEnabled"),Dynamic,Provider("RegPropProv")] MkEnabled;
    [PropertyContext("Local|HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Internet Explorer|Version"),Dynamic,Provider("RegPropProv")] Version;

    [PropertyContext("Local|HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Internet Explorer|IntegratedBrowser"),Dynamic,Provider("RegPropProv")] IntegratedBrowser;
    And enter this information into the SMS_def.mof file
    #pragma namespace ("\\\\.\\root\\cimv2\\SMS")
