Disabling the Check for Update feature in 10.1.3

Hi,
I work at a government facility that has tight security restrictions regarding downloading software. We are about to prepare a software delivery package for JDeveloper 10.1.3 that will let our IT department install JDeveloper on all of our developer workstations. One thing we would like to do as part of this deployment package is to disable the Check for Updates and PlugIn feature of JDeveloper. Is there a setting in a configuration file that controls this menu item?
Thanks,
Richard

Hi,
Is the requirement to disable the check for updates feature altogether (i.e. remove the menu item), or to just disable the automatic check that happens on startup?
There isn't currently a documented way to totally disable the feature altogether, however it's possible to add such a feature in a future service update if necessary.
There is a potential way in which you can modify the behavior of the wizard such that it will always find no updates (the menu item will still be present, however). If this is an acceptable solution to you, let me know and I'll fill you in on the details.
Thanks,
Brian

I don't think there is a way for Edge Code. I'm not sure about Reflow.
Why don't you just upgrade? That will stop the notifications.

  • My firefox beta 12 using Linux platform does not update to firefox RC1 via the "check for update" function. I know windows' beta version had this fixed, when would Linux get similar support ?

    Current platform : Linux
Current firefox version : Firefox 4 beta 12
Issue : does not update to RC 1 using the check for update feature.
Background : previously downloaded beta 8 and then it automatically updated to beta 12 using update features but for RC1, it does not.
I know users under Windows platform had same problem but was resolved and they can now update via check for update feature.
Please implement for Linux users too.
    Thanks !!

If you can't update then you can download and install the full Firefox 4 RC version.

  • Itunes "check for updates" feature not working?

my friend has itunes 7.0 and when he clicks on "check for updates" inside the itune program it says:
“This version of iTunes (7.0) is the current version.”
I thought the new version of itunes is 7.0.1.8? If so, why isn't the "check for updates" feature downloading the newer version? Can apple please fix this problem because users shouldn't have to download the new update manually and alot of users don't know there is a newer version because they all use the "check for updates" feature.
    thanks

Running iTunes 11 on Mac OS 10.6.8. I manually sync my apps/songs/etc.
I atttempted to updates apps using ITunes. The "Check for Updates" at bottom left was non-responsive. I tried:
    • Disconnecting the phone (2x), then reconnecting to iTunes
    • Relaunching iTunes (2x)
    • Reverting back to the previous version (ugh - don't try it)
Googling the problem lead me to many MacRumors and Apple forum threads.
Went to work, tried again tonight and success! The only thing I can attribute the sudden functionality of updating via iTunes is from REBOOTING my G5. BTW, I am using a wired mouse.
Feeling a little silly that I didn't try that earlier.

  • I currently have iTunes version 7 and I need to upgrade to version 10.  I am afraid of losing all my music if I just download 10 and when I use the "Check for updates" in the version 7 help menu, it tells me the server cannot be contacted.

I currently have iTunes version 7 on my computer and need to upgrade to version 10 to sync my new nano iPod.  When I tried the "check for updates" under the version 7 "help" menu, it said it could not contact the update server.  I am afraid if I just download version 10 from the website, it will wipe out my music library.  What should I do to upgrade?

Back up your music and install from the website. You probably won't need to do this, but if your library is erased, restore it from the backup.

    Hello ibebry
Try using the Software Update on your iPhone by going to Settings > General > Software Update. One thing to keep in mind if you are trying it on the computer is to make sure that you are not pressing any keys down when checking for updates as that may bring up a pop up window to find the update file.
Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

What year, screen size, CPU speed and amount of RAM installed?
Why not upgrade to Snow Leopard, if you can?
NO. There is no way to downgrade your iPhone OS back to iOS6. Apple makes downgrades of their mobile OS not possible.
If you can, the only thing you can do is upgrade your Mac's OS X operating system.
    Sorry,

  • How may one cancel the download of an update that was started by having actuated the "Check for Updates" button in the "About Firefox" window, please?

How may one cancel the download of an update that was started by having actuated the "Check for Updates" button in the "About Firefox" window, please? If possible please cover all platforms, Mac, Windows, Linux, although the first mentioned is what currently applies to my circumstances.
    Thank you.

Such a download is usually saved in an updates or updated folder in the Firefox program/application folder.
You can delete this folder to cancel the download.
If files already have been downloaded then remove the files in the updates and updates\0 folder.

  • Thanks for the Firefox 4 upgrade. Here is my concern - Previously, the "Check for updates" option is found under the Help menu. In Firefox 4, I cannot find this option; how will we be able to check if there are available updates?

Can this new version update itself automatically? How do I set this option?

Why do developers move stuff just to move it?

  • Continue to hit the check for update button ?????

Update isn't working for any of us...I just called AT & T to see if I could switch on my old blackberry...they were friendly and helpful sure you can buy a new simcard for $25.00 bucks and then when you get your apple updated we can turn you on to the new service but you will be treated like the new apple 3g folks..A new contract and the difference in costs...GEEZZZ so it looks like my apple is doing me nothing...So I am screwed today no phone.....Thank you AT & T and Apple...One would think they would be hit with an increase in bandwidth and they would prepare for it...

  • Went to install Thunderbolt Firmware 1.2 on my imac and now the 'checking for updates' message is stuck.

    Hi everyone,
I have an imac and had the update for Thunderbolt Firmware 1.2 ready on my app store to install. However, when I went to update it, my app store just keeps saying 'checking for updates' for the past two hours. I'm not sure if this is part of the Thunderbolt update?
I know it originally warns you the computer will restart and a grey screen will appear with a progress bar, but I've had none of that. Just the 'checking for updates' message constantly going.
Does anyone know how long this update takes and is this normal?
If I click on the update for Thunderbolt again it comes up with a greyed out 'waiting' message to the left.
    Please help ...
    Thanks in advance.

Ok, it seemed I could still click on the thunderbolt update so it was never going to do anything. I force closed the app store and now it's showing 1 update available like it was (for the thunderbolt).  Looks like the app store was just stuck trying to check for updates.
I'll try again another time :-)

  • SQL Developer 2.1 Disable Automatically Check for Updates bug?

Unchecking the "Automatically Check for Updates" under Preferences -> Extensions in version 1.5.5 to disables the prompting for proxy ID and password at SQL Developer startup. Unfortunately I am trying version 2.1 on Windows XP and unchecking this option under Extensions is having no affect. It is still prompting for proxy ID and password every time I start SQL Developer. This is extremely annoying.
Is this a known bug with 2.1?
    Mike

I get that prompt for a Proxy as well. If I can download SQL Developer 2.1 without a Proxy then why am I prompted for one when I am checking for updates?!?
I have to uncheck the Proxy and uncheck check for Automatic Updates.
Even if I tried to use the default proxy it does not exist (I tried pinging emeacache.uk.oracle.com and it just times out and there is no DNS record either).
I have been able to finally get a few updates but still have problems with getting the JTDS and MySQL updates. I am wondering if there is a problem with Oracle's websites that are trying to be contacted to download these updates. I think Oracle's Check for Updates Wizard still has bugs that need fixing. I have had these problems not just with this new 2.1 but with previous versions as well.
I hope Oracle fixes their buggy Check for Updates Wizard or the web sites that are being contacted for the updates because this is very frustrating.

  • Disable\Remove "Check for Update" "Lightroom online" and "Adobe Product Improvement Program"

    Hi,
I wanted to confirm if it is possible to remove\Disbale the options like  "Check for Update" "Lightroom online" and "Adobe Product Improvement Program"
under help menu in adobe lightroom 5.3? I intend to deply this application and want these options to be unavailable for the User.
    Kindly suggest, Thanks.

So far as I know, the only way to make these features non-functioning is to detach the computer from the internet.

  • What is the Firefox start page looking for when it tells me I'm not using the most current version and need to update Firefox? The check for updates button says my version is up to date, but the start page disagrees. Is there a setting I need to adjust?

Okay: My start page is the one Google provides: http://www.google.ca/firefox?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official and frequently it has a note underneath the search box that "You're not on the latest version of Firefox. Upgrade today to get the best of the Web!" But when I check for updates on the About Firefox window, it says my Firefox is up to date. So what is the start page looking for? Is there some setting I need to adjust? Or is this a Google marketing ploy to get me to switch to Chrome?

I tentatively think I have the solution; this is for when the session id value 'thing', in about:config, referred to in other answers is already on the default/rest state.
I am assuming, I don't what to imply certainty in-case there is a value wrong in our browsers, that the problem stems from the fact that our homepage is no longer the default for Firefox.
So, go to 'Options'>'General' and delete the homepage. This will reset it to the new address, which is 'about:home'.
I hope this helps some people.

    Hi James,
Many thanks for your reply, the machine was bought from Currys the 3.6 download warns you it will only be supported for a short time, and recommends downloading ver 7, I am unfamiliar with the workings of Linux but the machine has been good, there must be a solution, no problem if we have to pay for the upgrade. Many thanks for your help,
