  • Advantage and disadvantage of xml publisher, report builder and discoverer

    Hi,
anyone can explain advantage and disadvantage of xml publisher, report builder and discoverer?
    thanks in advance!

The best way i found was to put a equals and then double quotes... this only works for excel however it will allow you to cut and paste (ie to use the value to search in Oracle) and also to do vlookups.
    In a bit more detail:
    - I used word to generate my default table
    - this created a field INVOICE_NUM
    - in the cell in the table i put = " before the INVOICE_NUM field and then put the closing " afterwards.
The theory is that excel will concatenate the values together... because it has quotes around it, it will treat it as a string rather than simply a value.
For any other formats this will not work.
I'm guessing most people have moved on and resolved this some other way, but just thought I'd share the wealth!

  • Disadvantages of using "0" zero as first value in a generated sequence

Does anyone have any experience with the benefits/disadvantages of using a value of 0 "zero" as the first value generated in a sequence that is also populated in a table. My past experience has always used the values of 1 "one" as the first generated value from a sequence.
    Thanks

Benefit: You get use one "more" number from the list of values that can possibly be generated by the sequence. If you are start from '1', you have missed out on '0' :-)
Disadvantages: If any of the queries have predicate like "sequence_generated_column_value > 0" and that your sequence starts from zero, the record with sequence_generated_column_value=0 will not appear in result set for that query (assuming it satisfies other conditions).
May be there are many mores benefits/disadvantages to add to this list :-)

  • What are the drawbacks or disadvantages of using LSMW

    Hi All,
Can anyone tell me what could be the possible disadvantages of using LSMW and also some disadvantages of BAPI.
    Regards,
    MD.

    Hi MD.
I would like to suggest a couple of disadvantages of LSMW.
    Here are a few scenarios------>
    1. Time consumption -
    > IDOC processing plays a vital role.  The changes made to the IDOC is therefore very time consuming.
    2. In term of BAPI -
    > Incomplete in terms of input fields of a particular transaction, rather it is not always complete.
    3. In terms of Direct Input -
    > No enjoy transactions and incomplete in terms of input fields of a particular transaction.
    4. In terms of Batch input -
    > Slow in terms of new recordings to be done, but BDCs are much simpler in that terms.
This factor also depends upon the user settings, The kind of processing which is foreground and background.
    Hope that's usefull.
    Good Luck & Regards.

  • What are the disadvantages of maintaining the source list?

    Hi,
I understand that once source list is activated for plant in customizations, it has to be maintained for all the materials which are extended for the said plant, Is it true? Can I maintain only for selected materials?
I also understand if it is maintained for material then, we can not create PO for other source for which it has not be maintained in source list.
    Thanks in advance,
    Satish

    hi
There are no disadvantages if you maintain source list. Infact it helps lot of other functionalities other than purchasing. if you make source liost mandatory then it it required that for that particular material you need to have sourcelist  in Txn ME01.  You can have  list of vendors who are approved and put all of them in the source list for the material.  Yes you can always have independent sourcelist for a single material. Unless until you make it mandatory in customising there is no problem in PO creation. If you have made it mandatory  and you wish to create a PO for a new vendor who is not there in Source list then it is not possible to create a PO. However you can add the new vendor in the source list and go on creating the PO.

  • SAP R/3 and SAP Netweaver: changes, advantages and disadvantages

    Hello,
i am interested in SAP R/3 and SAP Netweaver. Are there existing articles which describe in detail the architecture of both systems and improvements of the new system. I want to know which changes the developers made an why they did it? What are the advantages of the new Netweaver system? Are there disadvantages? Does someone have some links to articles which deal with those questions? Thanks.
    Kind regards,
    Philipp

    Dear Philipp,
There is a separate section for SAP Netweaver in SDN forum. Check that section and you will get the solution to your query.

  • Special characters  in RSKC

    Hi there,
I have some special characters that I need in my BW to be accepted both in lowercase and uppercase. It is special eastern European letter that are contained in my customer data (names and addresses).
When I enter a lowercase character in RCKS it is automatically converted into uppercase. Is it sufficient to enter the character in uppercase for the load to accept both lowercase and uppercase of the character?
    Kind regards, Torben

    Hi Torben,
RSKC accept capital letters. But you can force the system to accept lowercase letters. For it you need to check 'Lowercase letters' in the infoobject maintenance screen.
However, ODS and cubes will not accept these lowercase letters if you feed them as infoobjects' key values. The most flexible way to keep texts with lowercase letters in infoobjects' texts and show them in queries as attributes or texts of IOs.
    Best regards,
    Eugene

  • What could be the disadvantage of the "AUTO_SPACE_ADVISOR_JOB" in 10g RAC?

    Hi, all.
The database is 2 node RAC database on 32 bit windows 2003 EE SP1.
What could be the pros and "CONS" of the "AUTO_SPACE_ADVISOR_JOB" job
    in 10g RAC?
It is one of advisor, and thus I think it is not required.
What could be the disadvantage of AUTO_SPACE_ADVISOR_JOB
in terms of PERFORMANCE in 2 node RAC environment?
The 2 node RAC database seems to be experiencing performance degrade
due to default jobs on installation such as AUTO_SPACE_ADVISOR_JOB and
    GATHER_STATS_JOB.
I am looking forwared to hearing your experience and advice.
    Thanks and Regards.

    Dear Justin.
    Thanks for your reply.
    1) What is the magnitude of the waits you're seeing? Over what time frame?
--> I found the above wait events in the top 5 wait event section from AWR report.
The AWR snapshot time frame is one hour.
--> On a regular basis(maybe, one or two week), the database hangs, causing a number of library cache related wait events and gc related wait event.
    2) If the system is hanging and not doing a log switch, have you debugged that process? I'd be hard-pressed to imagine how library cache events would be related to this sort of thing. I would tend to suspect a hardware/ RAC install/ RAC config issue.
--> I applogize for insufficient information. I took "system state dump" and "hang analyze" at the time of database hang.
--> It is hard for me to understand the system dump file. I reported those files to Oracle Support, but no answer was returned now.
--> As you said, it may be caused by different issues. I will try to investigate other factors.
    3) Why do you "guess that when gather_database_stats tries to get statistics about AWR snapshot objects, it causes a number of library cache invalidation and dictionary cache reload between two nodes?"
--> I investigated AWR reports during the period of database hang. I found the above wait events with gather_database_stats in common. That is all why I suspect "gather_database_stats" job.
Specifically regarding the statistics gathering job, is your application is doing something unusual that forces the default statistics job to gather statistics regularly on a substantial fraction of your tables forcing your application to re-parse a substantial fraction of its SQL? Do you have an alternate method for gathering statistics that is going to generate less load and/or invalidate fewer SQL statements? Is your application reusing SQL (i.e. using bind variables)?
--> Currently, we have not deployed all part of an application. At this point, the data is about 10 Mega. The application is using bind variables, but I also could see high number of sql version count. I am inspecting why.
--> I am considering gathering statistics manually (only application schema, not all database objects)
    4) What makes you believe that the AWR snapshot process is causing problems?
--> I applogize for insufficient explanation. I mean the problems occur when "gather_database_stats" job takes statistics of "AWR snapshot data",
because application data is very very small, only 10 Mega and 28 tables.
Currently, we have deployed only 1 % of the entire application.
    ● This is the first time I manage a RAC database. I think a RAC database is something different from a single database.
I do not think the same problem could occur in a single database.
Thanks for detailed explanation and advice.
    Best Regards.

  • Disadvantage of having windows on a mac

I would like to install Windows XP on my MacBook because there are some programs such as Windows Movie Maker and Windows Media Player that I found to be having more features than that of iMovie (effects, easy transitions, etc.)and iTunes (can't even play a VCD).
I would like to ask what the disadvantage of having Windows on a Mac, such as, (would) the built in firewall be not effective for the Windows, therefore requiring you to have a yearly subscription of Antivirus and Antispyware? In preloading the Windows, is there a need to back up the files before installing it? Please orient me before I finalize my decision. Thanks.

I have installed windows vista on my mac and it's great because i'm 100% compatible with whatever software that doesn't run on a mac but could run vista
But how do you plan to install xp? via bootcamp?
If you install via bootcamp (like me) your firewall would be useless when your in Xp and any virus/spyware that affects windows will affect you when you are using xp. backups are always recommended but not required. oh and if you are using bootcamp, you can only run one at a time (if your on xp you cant get to your mac)
    hope this helps

  • Disadvantages in prepared statement

    hi
i could not tell the answer for the following question in my interview can u pleae tell me the answer for this question
one of the disadvantages with prepared statement in jdbc?

I have no idea what WorkForFood is talking about.Sorry, perhaps an example will help clarify:
Using a PreparedStatement using two replacement parameters:
    String sql = "SELECT COL1 FROM MYTABLE WHERE COL1 = ? AND COL2 = ?";
    ps.setSetring("WORK");
ps.setString("FORFOOD");Contrasted against a Statement using literals:
"SELECT COL1 FROM MYTABLE WHERE COL1 = 'WORK' AND COL2 = 'FORFOOD'";When you execute these two queries, they can generate different explain plans, for example the Statement may use an index while the PreparedStatement may attempt a full table scan. The optimizer is choosing a more efficient explain plan for the Statement because it has more information on which to make a decision (the literal values). A full table scan will be significantly slower then using an index to return the same results. In some databases, you can provide hints, but in some cases, the only way to get this query to use an index is to provide the actual values WORK and FORFOOD in the query itself. When using literals rather then replacement parameters it should be more efficient to use Statement then PreparedStatement (see jschell's list #1). So, in these cases, you should use a Statement rather then a PreparedStatement to get best performance from your query. And again, this issue comes up very infrequently but can be quite debilitating to an applications performance when it does occur.

  • What is the disadvantage of refurbished ipad and if i buy one does it include  iOS 5 and iCloud or not

    hallo guys
    anybody can help me
my  question is what is the disadvantage of refurbished ipad and if i buy one does it include  iOS 5 and iCloud or not
thanks in advance to answer me
    Best regards

The warranty on an iPad, even a refurbished one, will still be valid in Egypt. It's only the iPhone that does not have an international warranty. Just make sure you don't buy a Verizon-model iPad, which cannot be serviced anywhere but in the US (and won't work with any other cell carrier either).
Note that refurbished iPads are available only via the online Apple Store, and they accept only US credit cards and will only ship to US addresses. This may not be a problem for you, but I wanted to make sure you were aware.
    Regards.

  • Advantages and Disadvantages of Dual booting Windows on PXI Device

    Hello,
In solving my previous problem of running a DLL in RTOS I've stumbled upon another solution. But i wanted to know the pros and cons of this before i make the leap.
I want to install windows on the PXI device so that the NHR DLL files are run inherently on the windows kernel and i have access over my DAQ devices without placing them in the remote target.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of installing a windows only on the DAQ device and running all my operation from it. Do i loose my real time features? I dont know, I'm really new to LabView and may sound really dumb. Please excuse my lack of knowledge.
    With Regards,
    Khalid.

    Hello Bob,
Thank you for your insightful answer. I also thought this might happen, loosing all the RT features.
I have another question for you. If i use a RT variant of windows like "Windows Embedded 8", will this make any difference? Can i regain my RT features by it or i have to go with the LabView RTOS.
I'm pushing towards a windows system because i have to run this DLL file from NHR which is not supported by the LabView RTOS.
Moreover, I could just install just windows onto the PXI controller. I'm not being able to make it dual boot. Can you guide me towards proper guideline to do so? I looked at the knowledge base file about dual booting, but the instructions dont exactly match with my available options in BIOS setup.
Any suggestions from anyone is much appreciated.
    With Regards,
    Khalid.
