Are you on Yahoo, with your contacts synced via a Yahoo email account?
It is a known Yahoo connectivity issue. Verified that Yahoo is having network issues, hopefully it will clear up soon.

  • Disappearing contact info

Every time I get a new text message, ALL of my contact names disappear and revert to just the number! All of them! This is the fourth time today it's happened. I added contact names again and they all just disappeared again...I added them back to the email contacts as well and everything disappears. Help!

In the Address Book you can select and record multiple fields for each contact. For instance, Contact A info is all completed with address, phone, title etc and then you can Add a "Spouse" name, select the "+" button and now add a "Child" name etc. Then you also have the option in the drop down to select a "Custom" field. Probably 99% of my contacts only used the actual fields available in the drop down.
I chatted with a guy on Apple and he thought that those fields just may not be displayed on the iPhone. That would be sad, since every other field and sub-field is displayed.

  • My newly purchased songs go silent when shuffling & disappearing contacts

We have thousands of songs from iTunes and CD's, etc in our library. It has always worked fine. Recently I purchased an iPhone 4S and there have been a few quirky things happening. First I have contacts disappear from time to time. I thought perhaps this must be a user problem BUT I have had contacts disappear that were there before, never used but have now disappeared and I know they were there b/c I retrieved the information for my husband. I've had others disappear that I use on a regular bases too but those ones I thought were probably a user problem. I was deleting the past conversations and figure I accidentally deleted the contact...
Back to my iPhone music...when I play my most recent purchased songs they work fine but if my iPhone is shuffling through songs and gets to one of the most recent purchases the sound stops. The sounds on the rest of the phone continue to work and the music looks like it's playing but with no sound. This only happens on my most recent purchases. I purchased Nickelback a couple of weeks ago and have had no troubles but a week ago I purchased some new Christmas songs and those ones are where I've run into troubles.
Intersting now that I think about it how long ago was the most recent operating system update? Should I be restoring it somehow?

Try resetting your device and try updating iTunes or mac

  • Disappearing Contacts, Mobile Me Sync Issues, Calendar crash-Answers??

I'll try to keep this post brief but hopefully it will help provide some possible answers for frustrated users experiencing the random complete wipe out of all contacts and calendar data when syncing with mobile me using either push or fetch. After several weeks of experiencing these random sync issues and spending several hours over several days between tech support calls with iPhone then Mobile Me support and then finally a genius bar appointment where the genius said he didn't have a clue and simply offered to replace my phone.
The next morning, SAME PROBLEMS... and through it all NO ONE could tell me why my sync was so randomly unreliable. Every other day for no apparent reason, my phone would suddenly lose all contacts and/or calendar data. (A few thousand contacts and two years of calendar data). It was both frustrating and strange—even stranger that Apple techs had no clue why and seemed to think no one else was having this issue.
I tried everything - complete restores, resets, deleting and re-adding the mobileme account, etc., etc., etc. One tech support person finally said, "good luck..." The others kept handing me off the higher levels of support... until finally they just said "we don't know why this is happening." I was waiting for someone to just say, "Look, we have issues with mobile me, so hang in there and eventually it will work." I can be patient and I still think the iphone is the greatest invention in recent years. But everybody I talked with at Apple seemed to think this should be working flawlessly.
I also started having a crash on the calendar anytime I tried to see the list view for "all calendars." This was frustrating because that's the best feature of the calendar app!
I was prepared to just return to syncing with my computer and wait for the software to improve between the phone and mobile me. Finally, last night I tried a few things that seem to be working... and for the first full day, mobile me is actually useful to me today. (my fingers are crossed!)
    Here's what I did.
    1. I minimized the number of calendars I was syncing - I have no idea if this affected the sync, but I was syncing eight calendars, now I'm down to four. (You can easily export a calendar and import those events back into a different calendar.)
    2. I did a complete restore of the phone (not from a back up) and the VERY FIRST THING, I added mobile me and synced only the calendar (set to push.) This cleared up the random calendar crash in list view and also mobile me was pushing data rather reliably. After a few moments my entire calendar was on the phone and worked perfectly. New events were transferred quickly back and forth.
    3. I then chose to sync my contacts through the computer rather than over the air. I fear that the contact sync was somehow messing up the whole communication process between the phone and the cloud. Someone suggested that the number of "groups" in contacts might have an impact on the sync issues as well. I didn't need my contacts to sync with the urgency of "push" so this works for me. Plus I have a lot of contacts and it's just faster over the cable.
    4. I then GREATLY reduced the number of apps on my phone. I originally had about 27 and I only reinstalled 9 of them. I did this ONE AT A TIME - starting with the most necessary and useful... and after each install, I checked the functionality of the calendar and mobile me. No problems. Perhaps I was having an app conflict?
    5. Then I reinstalled the rest of my content - music, podcasts, photos. Still no problems.
ONE of these steps actually worked, and I'm not sure which one. My guess is that one or more of my apps was conflicting in some way. OR possibly something with the contact sync... but for the last 24 hours the mobile me calendar sync using push has been consistently reliable and useful. (for the record, mobile me email has always worked perfectly for me.)
No one with tech support ever suggested to me that I could be having an application conflict or any other problems with calendars or contact groups, etc. I've spent many hours on this the past few weeks... and for the first time, my iphone seems to be working with mobile me correctly.
In reading many of these posts, it seems a lot of others are having similar problems... so hopefully these suggestions might be helpful. If you have any thoughts as to which of these solutions was the correct one, I would be interested in hearing your opinion.
    Thanks!

Are your Address Book contacts and iCal calendars/calendar events on your Mac synced with your MobileMe online address book and calendar?
When you say this data is not synced with your iPhone, none of your MobileMe online data is transferred to your iPhone, or after the initial transfer of this data to your iPhone when you first turned contacts and calendars for over the air syncing with your MobileMe account on your iPhone, the data is not kept synchronized with the MobileMe "cloud"?

  • Disappearing Contact Groups after Importing from another Profile

I recently had trouble with a corrupt profile in Outlook 2010 and had to build a new profile to fix the problem. I had to import the address book from a CSV file. Now in the new profile all my contact groups are gone (individual addresses are there). I
have tried to import them again with the same result. Anyone have any ideas?

  • E7 - Exchange contacts randomly disappearing

Hi, I've got an E7 phone which is synchronized to my Exchange 2003/Outlook 2010 email account.  Since I got this phone, I've had problems on multiple occasions with contacts simply disappearing - they are suddenly gone from both my phone and my Outlook account.  I have a lot of contacts in my address book that I don't use regularly, so it's hard to know just how widespread the problem is.  But three or four times over the last few months, a very important contact has disappeared, along with all the notes and information that I'd added.  Can anyone help me with this?

I too face the same situation of disappearing contacts - randomly, sometimes within days of entering the contact name, leading to embarassing situations.  Since my configuration is also synced to Outlook, one possibility is the syncing occuring in the reverse direction (ie the entry being deleted by the blank one in the Outlook database).
Whatever be the case, this is simply inexcusable design.  Appreciate any ideas on how to fix.

  • Contacts randomly disappearing

    T-Mobile iPhone 6 Plus running iOS8.1.1.
Contacts are being erased from my phone randomly.
Received calls / iMessages will display phone number rather than contact name and the contacts have apparently vanished completely from list.
Random contacts, not the entire list. Contacts are synced with iCloud.
    Any info regarding this issue?
Suggestions and solutions are greatly appreciated.

  • Wounded Veteran. My notes, Favorites and most of my contacts keep disappearing! Help!!

I have the iPhone 4S and ever since I downloaded the iOS7 my phone has not worked well.  My contacts keep disappering, same with my notes and I need my notes to help remember.  Other times I'll be watching a video and the volume will just stop working.  Sometimes, apps will just freeze up when I'm using them or the phone will just freeze up.  However, the biggest problem is the disappearing contacts and notes.  I need both of them and when I need them they always seem to disapear. Please Help!

it would be better for you to speak with iTunes Store support. They will need to  ask you questions so this issue can be sorted out immediately.

  • My address book contacts keep disappearing and I haven't upgraded only updated.  Any ideas?

My address book contacts disappear from the address book application, but when I check the library the files seem to be there.  If I click on one of the files that should contain contact info, they are blank.  I've restored the files twice from my time capsule and it works for awhile and then suddenly they seem to be missing again.  I haven't upgraded to OS X, so the online support on address book does not help.  I've only been maintaining the automatic updates.  Any thoughts on my magically disappearing contacts?  It makes synching my ipod a dangerous act.

ymcneil - thanks for the work around. But isn't it amazing Apple forces us to do this to maintain our privacy.
I live in Australia where there are good privacy laws protecting  citizens. I do not want to be forced to use iCloud when the data sits in  the USA with weaker privacy laws and also able to be seen by the US  Government under the Patriot Act. Further I suspect Apple will  interrogate my contacts and calendar for commercial purposes and I do  not want that either.
I  chose to synch my calendar and contacts with my iphone and ipad. I have  relied for years on carrying around my phone with my diary on it. I can  no longer do that.
Whoever  made this decision at Apple has to be someone who knows little about  the world. I can actually see EU regulators getting very annoyed by  this.
I too woud like the itunes mac to iphone/ipad local backup given back.
In the meantime - thanks for the work around

  • Z30 & BB Link not syncing Contacts and Calendar with Outlook 2010

Just loaded Outlook 2010 and went to sync my Z30 with BB Link.
    1st attempt :
Configuration  :  Contacts : 2 way sync : Notify me when there are any conflicts
Calendar : 2 Way sync : Always use device data
    Result :
    No sync with Contacts
    No sync with Calendar
(Also, Contacts disappeared until I restarted device.)
    2nd attempt :
Same config. however no disappearing contacts this time.
Started sync at 6PM and at 8PM the sync appeared to have hung as it did nothing and there was no indication of any activity.
    Result :
No sync & restarted Link and logged in again to try again.
    3rd attempt :
Changed to one way from device to computer
Added Outlook to the files it looks in even though it already says it does that in the config. Section of the contacts.
Result  :  Still no contacts or calendar thought it showed it was doing the transfer.
After each of these I have shut down Outlook in case a restart would show the contacts.
    Running out of ideas here.

  • Why disappear name in my i-phone?

why disappear contact in my iphone?

Did you set up an ID with iCloud?
Does it tell you that your Apple ID or Password is incorrect?
If it tells you that is incorrect, remember that the password is case sensitive, and the user ID is usually your email address in your iTunes account..
Let me know if this helps, or if you have any more questions.

  • LG Optimus Exceed 2 - keeps dropping contacts.

My contacts are disappearing...anybody else having this problem?

  • How to avoid contacts vanishing from an iphone?, How to avoid contacts vanishing from an iphone?

Contacts on iphone dissapear. I was travelling and did not have constant internet. I noticed that some contacts vanish. How to avoid it. Also how to consolidate contatcs to avoid duplicates and have them in one place

Can't help with the disappearing contacts, but there's a trick I use to make contact groups on my phone.  In the nickname field (you have to select "add field") put in an identifier for the "group" you want to see a contact in, then do spotlight search for all in that "group".  You can put in more than one, which is useful.  For example, I use "buz" for business contacts, but might also do "buz auto" if it involves cars.  "frd" is for friends, "ngb" for neighbors, etc.  You just have to be careful to choose codes that are likely to be unique.

  • Same iTunes, different iCloud accounts: all contacts lost from one iPhone appeared on the second iPhone

    Hello there.
    Got following situation:
iPhone A - iTunes Store (Apple-ID) account = [email protected] / iCloud account = [email protected]
iPhone B - iTunes Store (Apple-ID) account = [email protected] / iCloud account = [email protected]
Somehow all contacts in iPhone B disappeared and appeared on iPhone A (together with the ones already existing).
    My questions:
    what's the cause of this?
how do I get back (iPhone A with only its original contacts, iPhone B with the "disappeared" contacts)?
After I will have put everything back as it was a couple of days ago, I'd change the iCloud email for iPhone A, so that it doesn't match the Apple-ID anymore: do you think this might help?
    Thanks and regards,
    Flavio.

    Hi there.
Thanks for your reply. Somehow after logging into the iCloud account of "iPhone B", the contacts reappered on the iPhone B itself!!! Weird!
Now, I'd still like to do the change for "iPhone A" and move the iCloud login/account away from the Apple-ID: is this achieved by simply disabling iCloud sync and re-enabling it with a different email address? What about the "old" data which would remain on iCloud? Any way to do a "clean" migration here?
    Thanks and regards,
    F.
