Disappearing Apple Mobile Device USB drivers

Hi
I am having all sorts of problems backing up my devices.
It took a while to work out the issue but the problem seems to be that the apple mobile device drivers keep disappearing from the USB section of device management and I need to keep restoring them to using the procedures outlined in the Apple help sheet titled iOS - Device not recognised in ITunes for Windows.
I need to go into the file explorer and manually identify the folder with the driver to "update" the driver.
I need to do this every time I restart the laptop and connect one of my devices.
Any ideas why the drivers will not remain in the USB section of device management?
Regards

I've also had issues with Windows and devices appearing wirelessly.
You might just need to stop the Apple Mobile Device Service and then restart it.  It really is a quick and easy thing to do.
In the windows search bar type Services
Click on Local
Tap Apple Mobile Device Service
Stop it
Start it
I usually do this now before I even open iTunes and then my devices appear every time.

  • Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is listed in device manager, but has a yellow  "!".  I try reinstall, disable, enable the drivers but the problem persist. Could you help me ?

    Hi
I connect my ipad to my pc (Windows xp SP3) and I can see my ipad and photos in my computer. When I install the itunes 11 , after installation , I can't connect the ipad again or any other apple device. The Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is listed in device manager, but has a yellow  "!".
I have try to reinstall the drivers from c:\progamfiles\common files\apple\... but the problem persist. Could you help anyone about this ?

You need to completely uninstall iTunes from your computer and then download and install it again.
You do know that Microsoft has a web site, right?

  • Unable to install Itunes 10.1 or 10.1.1  -Apple Mobile Device USB Driver

Unable to install Itunes 10.1 or 10.1.1 and have it sucesfully install the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver. It keeps coming up with an error that the driver is unsigned or disappears completely from device manager.
I have tried full uninstall including cleaning registry keys and file system. If I uninstall and re-install 9.2.1 usb driver works perfectly and I have no issues synching with phone or seeing the phone in Itunes.
I have tried repair installs, updating the drivers by pointing to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
I have tried removing all USB devices and having them reinstall from Windows after a reboot. Nothing seems to work.
I just got a new IPAD and cannot use it because I cannot install 10.1 at least to have it connect. It came with IOS 4.2.1 on it.

I also encountered the same problem.
and yes, I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes 10.1.1 bla bla blahhh....
Same issue!!! itunes cannot open cuz the mobile device support not started etc..
but when reinstalled prior itunes version 9.2 its gone
    and issue fixed.
    i can sync my 3G.
but not my 4G. it says you need to upgrade to 10.1 or above
spending the whole night to fix the problem which never occured b4
i finally find out one thing.
pl keep in mind im not a computer exprt
i tried this and it worked, i don know what fixed it, bt it works
try this at your own risk. some comp genius will tell us weather this way is right or not.
    ok. lets start...
in your desktop make a new folder. name it Kmh_\CoreFP
try uninstalling the newer version 10.1
only the itunes not other mobile div suprt, application suprt etc.
    dont mind the following order:http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
    and reinstall itunes 9.2
    go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple
you wil find a folder named "CoreFP"
copy it and paste to Kmh_\CoreFP
    uninstall itunes 9.2
    and reinstall itunes 10.1 again
    go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple
you wil find folder named "CoreFP"
find the difference in properties comparing the one u stored in Kmh_\CoreFP
ok delete it and replace it with the one we stored stored in Kmh_\CoreFP
restart the computer and start itunes now
    what happens?
    best of luck.
    -Kmhm63
    reinstall the newer version 10.1
I would suggest that you revert back to prior working version until Apple comes out with an update that fixes what 10.1.1 broke.

  • Apple mobile device USB Driver won't install (Code 37) on my 7th Generation iPod Nano

As a result, iTunes won't detect my iPod. But the iPod will charge when I plug it in to my comp, and there is an iPod folder in "My Computer". But after installing iTunes, it no longer says “connected” on the iPod (even though it still charges it). And, in Device manager, there is a yellow exclamation mark that appears in the DVD/CD-ROM drive directly after installing iTunes – there is also a yellow mark next to “Apple mobile device USB Driver” when my iPod is plugged in. For both, it says “Code 37.” I know how to fix the DVD/CD-ROM drive problem (by deleting the filters) but the Apple driver still won't install after that. I've tried troubling shooting this. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, but it hasn't made a difference. And I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes multiple times, too, and every time I reinstall iTunes the same thing happens: my iPod no longer says “connected on the screen,” and the  DVD/CD-ROM drive gets code 37 again. Also, I tried different USB cables/ports.
Any help of suggestions would be greatly appreciated. And I think I've already read a lot of troubleshooting guides on this site, but haven't had any success so far.

Sorry, I'm confused. What do you mean by “leaving all other USB devices disconnected”? Does that include my mouse, keyboard, etc? And does that mean I uninstall those things in the device manager?

  • Apple Mobile Device USB Driver (CODE 52 Error)

I've been trying to sync my ipod touch with my laptop computer. I recently updated my version of iTunes, and now can not get my ipod to sync with my computer. The problem is in the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver. The error I am getting is a Code 52 error which states: "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source."  I've tried uninstalling the USB driver along with iTunes and all the related software. I have a windows 7 notebook. Any help resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

  • I disabled "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" in Windows

I did this because my device wasn't charging and I was trying (still am trying) to solve that problem.
But once I disabled the "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" under the Device Manager the device didn't dhwo up with an "X" next to it it just went away. And now when I plug in ipods it will not show up at all!
I even booted into safe mode expecting to see more drivers there and I still didn't see the apple one to re-enable it. I should have deleted it then it would have just come back on a re-boot!
    Anyone have any suggestions?

Re-installing the apple mobile device support under add and remove programs fixed this issue. Found this after many iTunes re-installs.
Still have a charging issue. I will post that in a different message.

  • WTH!!!! Keep getting msg bubble "APPLE MOBILE DEVICE USB DRIVER"????

I have wrecked my brain on this one! I have 4 different types of ipods that are being connected to my computer. The one I keep getting the message on is the Nano 3rd gen. The others are an 80 GB and 2 GB that are being recognized on WinXp and ITunes. Everytime the Nano is attached it's recognized by WinXP but not in ITunes. The bubble says "Found new hardware - APPLE MOBILE DEVICE USB DRIVER" Then the other bubble says "Found new hardware - USB MASS STORAGE DRIVER". I then get the window that says CANT INSTALL THE DRIVERS. I have followed the "support" directions on uninstall re-install, update drivers, roll back drivers and whatever else they have on this website. It was working fine until a Touch was plugged in to my computer. Anyone else going through this BS? I don't know what to do. I may try to roll back my system and see if that works. ANYONE WITH A SOLUTION PLEASE HELP!! I am quite irritated now!

ok sooo I tried to restore my computer...that didnt work. Next I dl that Mobile Me that was offered on the apple update. Didnt work. Then I said forget it and dl ITunes on a completely different computer that never had ITunes on it. Guess what....it worked and recognized my nano and the other 2 I have. I believe that there must be a registry file that is not getting overwritten or deleted completely somewhere along the process of uninstallation or maybe something else isnt getting changed somewhere. Im not that computer savvy but if someone can find what the problem is, let me everyone know.

  • TS1538 What do I do after step 6 in "If the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is not listed"?

i'm very confused about step 5, "Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed" > "If the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is not listed", what do I do after step 6? I looked for and found the entry that recognizes the device as a camera, "Apple iPhone, now what? I'm trying to resolve an issue. After an iTunes upgrade in July 2012, I have not been able to get my iTunes to recognize any of my devices. I have uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes, all the steps. Now I'm on this one and I don't know what to do after this step 6. I looked and found the entry.... now what??? I am out of room on my phone because everything I buy on iTunes on the computer mysteriously appears on my iPhone 4, and everything I buy on my iPhone mysteriously uploads onto my iTunes the next time I open it. My phone will charge when connected to the computer, and Windows recognizes it and asks how I want to open pictures, etc. But in iTunes it will not show up under Devices. This is getting beyond ridiculous and I have to get some of this music off of my phone!

Found a possible solution for me.
While the phone was plugged into my computer and iTunes is CLOSED.
    1. I went to Services in Windows.
    2. I selected Apple Mobile Device and right clicked and selected "Stop".
    3. Then I right-clicked again and selected "Start".
    4. Then I went to Device Manager and right clicked my iPhone with the yellow alert icon and selected "Uninstall".  You will get a warning about uninstalling the device.  Click OK.
    5.  At the top of Device Manager I clicked the Action menu and selected "Scan for Hardware Changes".
This re-installed the iPhone and everything started working again.

  • Apple mobile device USB driver is missing and cannot be installed

    Hi,
My iPod nano (6th gen) is not recognised by iTunes but is recognised by Windows sometimes (once in 2-3 attempts).
Every time I connect my iPod to my laptop, a window pops up saying "an iPod is detected but could not be identified properly...".
I looked through apple support page and narrowed down the cause to the driver.
Apple mobile device USB driver does not show up in Device Manager.
However iPod does show up under Portable Devices as a camera when iPod is recognised by Windows.
I tried reinstalling Apple Mobile Device USB Driver as it was shown in the support page (right click on iPod in Device Manager>update driver software>...).
This did not work (gave me an error saying "the folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device...".
So I tried another method I found online; extract iTunes installer (itunes6464setup.exe), extract AppleMobileDeviceSupport6464.msi in it, and use the files in it to update driver.
This gave me the same error.
It seems that a Windows driver is installed for my iPod (WPD FileSystem Volume Driver); when I opt for "search automatically" in Uptade driver software, this driver shows up with the message "the best driver for your device is already installed".
Also, my iPod is shown in Devices and Printers with an exclamation mark (when I connect my iPod to my laptop, the exclamation mark shows up only after I click OK on the message window "an iPod is detected but could not be identified properly...")
Troubleshoot showed "Windows is uninstalling this device (Code 21)".
I'd appreciate it if someone could help with the situation.
I'm using Windows 8.1, iTunes 12.1 for Windows 64bit, and iPod nano 6th gen.
I haven't connected my iPod to my laptop for a long while, but I recall connecting an iPhone to my laptop a while ago and it was recognised just fine.
After that I updated my Windows from 8 to 8.1, but I don't think it has anything to do with the problem as my iPod wasn't recognised by iTunes before and after the update.
    Thank you in advance!

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If the advice above doesn't resolve things you could try this alternate version:
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
which is a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of the core application, similar to previous 64-bit releases. Or roll back to the previous build:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-10-16)

I use Windows 8.1 and so now also ITunes 12, both my Iphone 4S and Ipad Air have the latest IOS version.
I hope anybody can tell me how to solve this that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is back, thank you
