Disappearing application in consoleone

Hi,
I got a weird case on my hands!
The person creating the zen application snapshots and imports into
eDirectory is having a curiouos problem. He created the snapshot of the
application without problems but after importing the aot in the zen
container (like he does everyday. We have well over 2000 app's in the
tree) he starts configuring the application, like deleting shorcuts and
so on. But when he gets the the registry part that's when the
application disappears. He tries to apply the changes and he gets an
error and consoleone doesn't list the application anymore! I looked in
dsbrowse on the master of that partition and the application is listed
as a [deleted entry] which is also weird! We tried to import it under
another name and this time it seems to have worked but I would like to
know if someone else experienced this? Edirectory seems healthy from
the checks I made. We are running NW 6.5/SP2 and eDir 8.7.3.3.
Consoleone is 1.3.6c
Thanks.
Chuck.

Thanks, i'll try to dig that up. Like you said at least it's not the DS!

  • Uncaught error java nullpoint exception, email icons disappeared, application loader unable to back up data, desktop manager unable to connect

    Model:  Curve 8900
    Provider: At&t
    Platform: 4.2.0.108
I'm ready to throw this phone in the blender.... if I could only back up my data first. A couple of months ago the What's App application required an update. I updated it and ever since my phone has steadily had more and more issues. First, I kept getting this uncaught error message, shortly thereafter the 2 email accounts (both gmail) that I have linked to the account disappeared. The message icon shows that I have messages, but icons not there (I have tried the show all option). At one point the message icon started exponentially adding the number of messages until it got up to over 86,000. When I reboot the phone it goes back down and then steadily increases again... usually though it's more to 400 - 500 rather then tens of thousands. I have been trying to install updates and do a wipe of the BB so that I can start from scratch, unfortunately the application loader is unable to back up data. The desktop manager is unable to connect to the blackberry and indicates that an upgrade is required. I have tried doing the upgrade both directly from the phone and connected to the desktop manager, but nothing seems to work. If I try to upgrade the software directly from the BB, I get to the start download button and when I click, nothing happens. I have removed all applications except bberry app world and one game that I play, Pixelated Plus. Still nothing. Any ideas?

Do you want to save the messages?
If not (and I think they are the problem) open the Desktop Software > Device > Delete Data and click the "select Data" option. Select the Messages to remove. Complete the prompts and finish.
Then, return to backup the entire device, and see if that is possible to complete this time with no messages.
Now, once the back up is done and you have your data, you can disconnect the device.
Now, use BBSAK to wipe the device and subsequently load the new operating system.
**If you cannot complete the backup again above, you might have to do without it, OR you can use the Desktop Software to sync your Address book, calendar, memos and tasks to Outlook. OR, you can easily install and use BlackBerry Protect to backup your device over the air to RIM servers, then once wiped and the new OS reloaded, you can use Protect to restore the data back to the 8900. << This you should do regardless.
Good luck, post back here as you have questions.

  • Disappearing Application Windows?

    Hi,
    I am running mac os x 10.5.5 on a 3.06 24inch imac with 4gb ram.
recently I have a worsening issue with application windows disappearing. It seems to happen with all applications intermittently & i cant pin down why it is happening.
I do use spaces & have some applications set to run in certain spaces but this really doesnt seem to effect the problem.
For example i will be working away in space 2 with mail & that will be fine. If I go to space 4 where itunes should be, spaces moves to the space but there is nothing visible from itunes window wise. I get the menus accross the top as itunes but no wimdows for the app.
If i go back to space 2 with mail & click i tunes in the dock, it takes me to space 4 & I have the itunes menus again but no windows.
If I check all of my spaces individually, none of the itunes windows are in any of the other spaces.
The only work around that i have found for this is if i go to the dock, click the app icon & choose hide when something has already disappeared.
If I then click the app icon in the dock again & choose show, spaces kicks in, takes me to the correct space & the application appears with the windows.
Can anyone help me to solve this problem any better than that>? Surely mac os shouldnt be doing this?

I don't use Leopard (yet), but I've heard of a bug with Spaces that causes applications to start on virtual desktops that don't exist any more, which sounds similar to what you're seeing.
If you've disabled Spaces, re-enable it, and make sure all your applications are set to start up on the first virtual desktop. (Again, I don't use Leopard yet, so I don't know if you actually can enable/disable Spaces, but I do know you can tell apps which virtual desktop to open on.)

  • Address book disappear, Application Support folder can not be opened

My address book disappear from my MacPro, I know it is in the User Library-Application Support folder, but when I try to open that folder, it has a red tag on the folder and it said I have no Authority to open that folder, I am the only one using this machine, never have this problem.  And it will not allow me to restore the address book from Time Machine back to this folder.  What's wrong? I think I need to figure out why it wont let me open the Application Support folder, could anyone help? thanks.
One Symptom:  when I run the address book App, and try to import  address file, the Menu bar- File-the Import dialog was greyed-out and can not be used.

Could you please check the Sharing &permissions of these two folders (command +I). Check to see if you have "Read&Write access to these folders. It should be your user name with read&write privileges.
You will have to open the lock on the bottom right and it will request the admin password. Should your name not be there, select it by clicking on the plus sign on the bottom right and selecting your user name. Select Read&Write privilege and under the gear wheel beside the plus and minus signs,Make sure you apply to enclosed items.
It sounds like you somehow got them buggered. Rebuilding the permission table should of cleared up the problem. This could be a case of booting with your install DVD and rebuilding permissions from there.
                                                            Food for thought.
Next time you even think of modifying anything in you user library, Duplicate the whole folder and then you have a reference to go by. Just make sure that it is deleted after you are finished. This should be a standard step when troubleshooting. Changing something.....make a copy.

  • Launching application from consoleone alarm disposition.

    Hi!
I can't get this to work. I enable launching application for a certain
alarm but nothing happens. For example i've tried starting notepad when a
system: nlm loaded alarm arrives. But nothing. And i can't find a way to
    debug this either....
Forwarding snmp traps and sending smtp works btw.
I run ConsoleOne locally on my machine and i enter the path to the
    application as: c:\progran\applicationdir\application.exe
    Thanks

    Hi Tobias,
The alarm action is done on the management server- so you have to
    configure Netware Server Actions.
    Please check the
    docu:http://www.novell.com/documentation/...a/acqbya8.html
    will give you:
    Launching an External Program
As part of editing the disposition of an alarm, you can set options to
automatically launch any program on the Novell ZENworks Server
Management server when an alarm is received. For example, you might want
an alarm to launch a program that sends a message to the system
    administrator's pager.
Although ZENworks Server Management provides the capability to launch
applications, the product does not provide any predefined programs.
However, you can launch an NLM and run scripting routines or use
    third-party programs.

  • Disappearing applications from ipad2

I recently synced my ipad 2 with itunes (after browsing a few days on it), and shortly after the sync was completed, noticed that three applications being, camera, facetime and photobooth disappeared from the ipad.
I recenrtly restored the ipad, whereafter the said three applications reappeared and after another sync to itunes, found them to be lost again.
Any idea what may be causing this to happen?

Sure thing - this actually happened due to a corporate Microsoft exchange account that I activated on the iPad. This exchange account carried restrictions, disabling the applications in the iPad.
I just deleted the exchange account, whereafter all three applications reappeared.
Turns out it was never the sync to iTunes that created this problem.
    Best of luck.

  • Disappeared application from App Store

    Hi all,
I recently installed an application (2do) from the App Store onto my iPhone 3GS. After synching over USB link (and answering 'yes' to the question to transfer apps from the iPhone to iTunes) the app has now disappeared from the iPhone. It does not appear in the list of apps in iTunes.
A search doesn't find it. Is there any way to get this back again?
    Regards,
    Julian

Yes, there's a full one (2do, which I have) and a free one (2do lite - very limited).

  • Disappearing Applications - Feels Like a Virus...

My computer's been behaving really strangely today. First, I tried to open Quicksilver from the Dock, and Quicksilver's missing. (I've deleted nothing, and used the program yesterday.) This morning I was able to use Firefox. I turned off my computer in the middle of the day, and when I turned it on tonight and tried to open Firefox, I get nothing -- it's like the icon in the Dock is a broken link. The application's missing. And it's not in the Trash -- it's nowhere to be found! The aliases in the Applications folder, when clicked, turn up the "original item could not be found" error message.
Aside from this, my computer has recently -- in the past two weeks -- taken to giving PDF and Word files downloaded from email strange file names (strings of characters). When I click on the icon on my desktop, it opens, that icon disappears, and a new icon appears with the proper file name.
I've run ClamXav a couple of times and found nothing, but I have just run it thru my documents and my Applications folder.
Any tips? I'm really worried about my data. I know I'm running a dinosaur of an OS, but I hope someone will know what's going on regardless.
    Thanks for the help!

Thanks, Ali B, for all your help.
    Firefox was on the Desktop.
I now have NO aliases in the Applications folder. I only had Firefox ones, and I've deleted them.
I have a 15" silver PowerBook G4 with a 1.5 GHz PowerPC G4 processor, 1.25 GB DDR SDRAM. Of the RAM, only 256 MB (in the lower slot) is original; 1 GB is installed by me, but I installed it well over a year ago, so I don't think that can be the issue. The Hard Drive is 74.5 GB, with 6.4 GB available. (It might be worth mentioning, though it's embarrassing, that I pushed the HD to having only about 500 MB of available memory about a month ago, and then deleted and compressed a whole bunch of stuff - particularly music - in order to have a functioning computer.) I am running Panther 10.3.9. I have no peripherals connected right now, though I sometimes connect a Lacie external hard drive; this hasn't been connected when experiencing problems.
I can't think of anything special that's happened betw when the PowerBook functioned successfully and when it hasn't. It might be worth mentioning that on two occasions, in the past 6 months, the computer has refused to start up at all, with the HD making that sickening pathetic rotating noise that all computer owners dread. However, I checked the disc and it has reported that the HD is fine. Obviously I'm running on borrowed time, but I'd like the computer to stay functional for a few more months.
No system upgrades. I've installed a few programs, notably the new Firefox and Quicksilver.
The Mac's shut down overnight, usually, though these days I'm afraid to shut it down and mostly let it sleep. I haven't run routine maintenance procedures (apparently I'm a bad computer owner, though I didn't realize it), but on the advice given above I ran the maintenance scripts just yesterday. Turns out the monthly one hadn't run since 2005. But I've done it manually now....
Ahh, the mystery of this Mac. I'll hopefully locate a copy of the system disc tomorrow and can then do whatever that will allow me to.
    Best,

  • Disappearing Applications for aluminum Macbook

Honestly, I don't know if its me or if my computer is being haunted by harry houdini but it seems like every now and then I find an application disappearing? Im not sure if this is a common problem.
I don't have any disk cleaners disk fixers or anything, nothing. I'm pretty smart when it comes to deleting things so i'm highly positive that i couldn't have deleted them myself.
First was my mail app was missing, preview, textedit, adium, and activity monitor.
    any ideas?

i'm having this problem also. never seen anything like it.
tonite i went to open garageband. got the ? in the dock. then noticed Bento, Audacity, Firefox, and more...all gone with absolutely no trace as though they never ever existed on my computer. the trash has things in it that have been there for weeks.
I've been using this current setup for some time now with no issues. spotlight reveals nothing. Find can't find any of it. Maybe a clue...my apps folder is re-arranged as are the folders on the main level of my hard drive (no partitions). I use no disk cleaning apps or anything.
    Any ideas?

  • Disappearing Applications

Help! Has anyone had this problem? I have a MacBook 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. I'm using 10.5.8. Recently my applications have been disappearing. First I lost Preview. Then I lost iWork. Luckily I was able to reinstall iWork, but since I OSX was pre-installed on my hard drive, I can't get reinstall Preview.
Now my latest issue... I have no sound! When I go to system preferences->sound->output, it says "no output devices found" and when I hit the volume button (F12), I get a / and a grayed out sound icon. And, yes I read the thread about the headphone jack. I don't use headphones w/ this device.
I notice that these problems occur after my battery dies or system freezes. The applications disappeared each time after my battery died and I had to reboot. The sound issue happened after the system froze and I restarted.
I would greatly appreciate some help. Thanks in advance!

If files are truly just disappearing then that's pretty serious.
Boot from the System Installer disc that came with your computer or is the one for the version you currently have on there, select language if applicable, choose utilities, run Disk Utility and verify (and repair if necessary) the drive. You can verify a drive from DU on your main drive while booted but I have found this can result in incorrect reporting of errors. To repair your drive you have to run it from a drive other than the boot drive anyway.
Next, boot from your drive in [Safe Mode|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107393] and repair permissions. You can repair permissions while booted from the installer disc but this uses the permissions configuration on the installer disc which may be out of date if you have run any updates on your computer. Booting your computer to Safe Mode restricts the number of things running on your computer while permissions are being run and does a bit of spring cleaning at the same time.

+Summary of above from BDaqua+ (couldn't have said it better):
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer (Edit: Do not use this disc if it is not the same general version as what you have currently on your computer, e.g. use a Tiger disc for a Tiger drive, not a Panther disc), then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.
Then Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes."

  • Disappeared Application?

I was downloading a new paid application via wi-fi to my iphone 3GS and it was at 0%. I plugged it into my computer to sync with the computer and after syncing, the application was no longer on my iphone. I checked my applications on my Itunes and it was not there either. How do I get the app without having to repurchase it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not only applications, which would probably take me hours to re-find, but all my data disappeared; documents, pdfs, movies, all gone. By any chance, do the garbage makers provide any supports, other than this forum chat?

  • Not working, and disappeared applications

I have problem with two applications. First, there is an "application" called AirSpace, what I purchased (VU2VVLP9G4K9) on 2011.03.29. It never worked. It's an FTP client. It connects to an FTP server, than it cannot download anything, and not even can change directory on the FTP server. As I read there was only one man who said it's working, I'm almost 100% sure that was one of the "developer". I have the latest firmware on my C6-00 (40.0.021). I reported this two time at the application download page. I have never got an answer... It's just outrageous. I want my money back, and I want make this unusable "application" removed from the store! (I'm using "application" because it is not a real application. It's just a pile of junk code what is not working...)
Second, I have bought the LCG PhotoBook application (7LAQM8WTDL9YH) on 2011.06.18. Since than I have to remove the application from my phone. Now I would like to install again, but I can't find in the store at all. I have tried every lower- and uppercase combination of the "lcg" and the "photobook" string. There was no success. What happened with this application? How can I install it again?

That is one problem of buying applications from OVI Store rather than the developer as it is only a shop front and developer can remove application at any time.

  • Disappearing applications and games...Help me!

    Hello People,
I have been using this new 5610 since a month. Really love this phone. Its great! But I find that sometimes, some things can go wrong.
Every since I bought the phone, I havn't been able to use the "Dictionary" feature. Okay, even then I was happy with all the other things that were available on the phone, such as music player, games, and other applications, all of which I use frequently.
But one fine day I notice that the "Calculator" is missing....absconded. I search for it frantically everywhere on my mobile, but no use.
Even Worse, another day I wake up to realize that the default "games" (Snake, Blox, etc.) available in the mobile are all also missing. There is not one game application saved.
WHAT IS THIS??? HOW CAN SOMETHING ON MY MOBILE GET AUTOMATICALLY DELETED???
Can anybody help me restore these?
    Thanks,

Please try if you could put it to factory default, it might recover it. Else check if there is a firmware upgrade available at Nokia site for download thru NSU. If not you have to visit the nearest Nokia Care Center to have your phone reflash. Be sure to make a backup of your important data.

  • Disappearing Application Folder

In my Macintosh HD folder, the application folder dissapeared. I Searched for Applications in spotlight and coppied the appropriate folder. It became a generic folder without the applications folder. When I tried to move it to Macintosh HD it said it could not because Applications is an invisible folder. How do I fix this?

    Don't quite get what happened...
I Searched for Applications in spotlight and coppied the appropriate folder
You copied the Applications folder? from where?
It became a generic folder without the applications folder.
What became a generic folder? If it was the Applications folder located at the root level of the drive and as long as it was named correctly, the icon should be restored automatically, I would think, either on the next login or restart.
When I tried to move it to Macintosh HD it said it could not because Applications is an invisible folder.
Tried to move what? The Applications folder? from where were you moving it, if not Macintosh HD?
