Disappearing bookmarks problem is escalating

For over a year people have been reporting that all of their Ipad Safari bookmarks have been disappearing. two fixes were 1. Reboot the iPad. 2. Kill the Safari process. In my new (Christmas 2013) iPad mini, neither of these fixes works. I have been able to re- find most of the lost information, but what should I do in future? Is there a really good alternative browser available that doesn't have this problem?

I guess this is how it was designed ;-(
If you want all the URL's hidden (not exposed on the internet) behind the portal gateway then rewriting is needed. When rewriting is used the URL's are prepended. So bookmarks are with the gateway prepended.
Other portal software solutions, use the revere proxy approach but then all the intranet hostnames need to be known in the internet DNS.
I guess that most people implementing the sun portal eventually will hit this problem. One of the problems is also that before you can use that bookmark, it redirects you first to the desktop again in order to get your session.
What also adds to this, is that the rewriter can cause so additional work in making the rewriting rules work. So you need to test this with every application.
Probably the solution is somewhere in the middle:
-use the portal server to login in the desktop
-if bookmarks and rewriter are an issue then use a reverse proxy aside from the portal. And for SSO you implement a Identity agent on this reverse proxy.

  • Acrobat Professional for Mac...Bookmarks disappear, other problems

I am using a Mac with OS 10.6.6, and using Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.5. I find that I often lose some but not all bookmarks in documents after I save the file, close and then reopen the file. I also get one or two randome bookmarks that WILL NOT DELETE no matter what I do.
I also use the link boxes (to insert URLs) and those seem to move around the page, disappear, or move to other pages. Is anyone else having these problems?
I also CANNOT get the 8.2.5 patch to take on my machine.
    Any ideas?

Acrobat 8 is not OS X.6 compatible.

  • Disappearing bookmarks in Acrobat XI trial version

Hi there, I recently converted a Word 2013 document to a PDF using Acrobat XI trial version. However, when  I reduced the PDF size and secured it, the bookmarks disappeared. I'm interested in buying the full version but I need to know first why this is happening and what I need to do to fix it. Can anyone throw any light on the problem? Is it a problem with the trial version only?

Unfortunately, how the document appears in Word depends on the selected (or default?) printer. So if you intend to convert to PDF, set the default printer to the Acrobat PDF printer and it shouldn't change. I don't work with Word very much, but here's a link to some more info that may be helpful: http://word.mvps.org/faqs/formatting/textreflow.htm

  • Bookmark problems in acrobat XI pro

I have added new bookmarks to a document and after saving, the bookmarks have disappeared when the document is re-opened, in both acrobat and reader.  Now if I put the new bookmarks below the previous ones, it is fine, but then they will be in the wrong order. I tried editing the original bookmarks to change the order, but that doesn't work either.  This is really frustrating and I have to complete this document today.  Any help would be sincerely appreciated, thanks.  This is on windows 7 machine.  Just to add, the pages for which the bookmarks won't stick, were made in pages on a mac and exported as pdf.  The pages for which the bookmarks work were created in open office calc and exported as pdf.  This is the only difference between the different sections in the document.

Well I haven't found a fix, but I'm reasonably sure this issue has arisen because I combined pdf documents from two different sources - 1.  Open office calc on windows 7 and  2.  Pages on Mac OS X lion.  Not sure why, but that is the only difference.  Will post this as a separate issue, as in-document links are also effected by this distinction.  So not all pdf documents are created equally...   After spending an hour solving the green "signature detected where none exist" bar this morning, this latest fiasco has not left me too impressed with adobe.  But that's tech folks...

  • Disappearing Mouse Problem

When surfing in Safari I will occasionally have an issue where the mouse will disappear on me. The circumstances around this are odd. When I bring the mouse up to the toolbar and it hovers over any of my bookmark buttons, the mouse will disappear. It will stay invisible until it is moved across any text field, even if it is moved outside of the safari window, although there are some other objects which will reactivate the mouse as well. I notice this most consistently when visiting the site www.azlyrics.com (which does not load properly initially, you have to hit the back and forward buttons a couple of times for some reason to get the site to load.) I use the safari helper program saft, but this occurred before I installed saft as well. It is a very odd and annoying situation. Can anyone offer any assistance to this, or is this a bug in Safari for which I will have to wait for a fix. Thanks.

  • Disappearing Bookmarks

I had about 60 bookmarks on the On Demand content. This morning, there were only about 30 left, but I haven't deleted any and nobody else has access to it. I added some new ones, and I noticed that although the new ones were being added, older ones were then disappearing. I then went back in to bookmarks and found that items I have bookmarked this morning are no longer bookmarked. Why are they disappearing? The films are not being taken offline as the date on them is a few months away.

    Hi Ninco67
    I can have this investigated.

  • Bookmarks problem in Safari, please help!

When I open safari, and this is for the Bookmarks Bar, I will go to click one of my bookmarks, and they wont be clicked! It's really weird. Like usually when you click a bookmark, it'll show you it has been clicked. I will click it many many times before it even realizes that it's being clicked. I don't think it is my mouse, and I am not double clicking! So any suggestions? Bug? Safari problem? What?

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • N96 search bookmarks problem

I have an N96 and when I do a search it finds a webpage that I navigated ages ago to under "bookmarks". This page however is NOT stored in my bookmarks! It is actually listed twice in the search results which is also strange. How do I get rid of it? I have tried a firmware update but no joy....its not the end of the world but its quite annoying!! How do I access the bookmark folders using Nokia PC suite so i can delete this file/page?
    Thanks,
    John

Hard format procedure is here. For that, backup your mobile's contacts, messages, notes, calender and bookmarks via Nokia PC Suite backup utility. Don't backup anything else like settings or user files etc. Now backup your images, videos and music files using Windows Explorer. Now format your memory card and switch off your mobile. Now press and hold this 3 key "green call key, * and 3" together and switch on your mobile. Press and hold down that 3 button till country insertion dialogue appear. Now restore all your backup using PC Suite and explorer. This will solve your problem. If problem still causing then go to nearest Nokia Service Center and give them your mobile for repairing.

  • Can you help with bookmarks problem?

Up until recently I could add bookmarks to the bookmarks list on the left-and I could drag them to the location I wished.  A few days ago, without any known action by me, the list suddenly went to the bookmarks bar.  Even though the help section says they can be dragged and moved, noothing happens when I try to drag a bookmark into a new location.  Any ideas out there about why this is happening?

Ah.   I don't use Mountain Lion or Safari 6.0.2 so I probably won't be much help.   All the same, take a look at 'More like this'   >>>>>>> opposite your first post.
And don't stop after reading the threads, pass on to the links within them.   I see there are several people with problems like yours and one or two marked Solved, which sounds encouraging.

  • Is there a solution to the disappearing cursor problem yet?

Recently upgraded my 12 core to Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard to install Media Composer. The disappearing changing cursor is driving me batty. Also My ProTools installation has become very unstable. It sometimes stops processing for about 30 seconds until it decides to access the hard drive (Not sure if it's my media drive or the system drive, both are inside the case) Any thoughts? I still have my old Snow Leopard partition so I am considering installing MC on that instead to see if that works. I can't believe this problem is still rampant. Pardon my sarcasm but I think a basic mouse function might be something you would appreaciate in a new OS. Silly me.

With all the issues you describe, I would search for something conflicting with Mountain Lion.
Have you booted into Safe Mode and checked to see if it works correctly there? It will take a while to boot, and it will run a bit slow, so just look for the issues you described above. If they don't appear, you've got something installed that is causing the issues.

  • Bookmark problem BI report

    Hello,
I created a Bookmark after making some changes to a report and saved it. If I open the bookmark again, it shows the original report. Changes are not reflected in the bookmark.
Whereas bookmark for the same report is working fine for my colleague.
What could be the problem ?
    Please help !

    Hi,
Check if the personalization is active for your user in the template. You can either attach the URL parameter &USE_PERSONALIZATION=false to the bookmark, or you call the context menu and search for 'personalize web application' -> 'delete personalization'.
    Best regards,

  • XLA Bookmark Problem - Urgent

    Hi,
I am using Timesten7 along with java for application development and Xla monitoring. Actually, our xla bookmarks are in sync with our replication bookmarks, whenever we do some updates to the tables corresponding to the Bookmarks.
But the bookmarks are in the held in the last read position when there are no updates. Due to the other updates, which are not listened, the replication pointers are keep moving forward. This results in our Xla lagging where it got started.Sometimes the log files difference becomes more than 10. Since the Xla is holding onto the logs, the memory gets full , as this leads to disk space full error and replication failure and very bad impact on the application.
Is it a default behaviour of TimesTen ?? If so how can we move the xla bookmarks, even though if there are no updates, so as to clear the log buffer. Please provide me with a better solution.
    Thanks in advance,
    Bala

    Hi Chris,
You are right, we are using JMS/XLA with CLIENT_ACKNOWELDGE. But while trying to fix this error, we used AUTO_ACKNOWLEDGE as well. If it help, we get messages Synchronously.
To further elaborate, we have 4 listeners (bookmarks) listening to changes in 4 Views. The code is based on the XlaLevel3 example in the TT sample codes, with a difference that we create 4 separate listeners for the 4 views (instead of 1 in XlaLevel3). The problem is that 2 of the views belong to tables that do not get updated frequently and hence our program never gets any messages in these two queues! If the listener does not get an event, then it cannot acknowledge as well (auto or client).
In our tests, we even commented out 3 of the bookmarks and tried to observe the behaviour for only 1 bookmark. Repeatedly we observed that the bookmark does not move unless there is a change in underlying tables that the View is made of.
    Could this behaviour by design?
    Thanks,
    Bala

  • Epiphany bookmarks problem

Has anyone else here noticed a little problem with Epiphany web browser.  I did a system upgrade the other day, and all of a sudden my bookmarks aren't working--at least from inside Epiphany itself.  I can drop down the menu, but I can't select anything.  The separate Epiphany bookmarks still work fine.  I had the exact same problem with Epiphany on my Slackware machine (after updating Dropline Gnome).  The fix there was a patch to GTK-2.6.9.
Are there any other workarounds, or should I wait for a GTK patch.
As always, thanks for the advice.
    Bob Pisciotta

try exporting your bookmarks, deleting the .gnome2/epiphany directory, and then restarting epiph and importing the bookmarks again.
it might be a slight incompatability with the .config files or something...
    dunno
