Disappearing Channel Strip slots & Plug-ins?

Just bouncing down a project i've almost finished. For some reason (and i have experienced this problem before over a few versions of Logic now) the top section of the control strip for outputs 1-2, 3-5, 5-6 and plugs-ins used for them have disappeared. Instead of the usual display of slots which you could select various plug-ins in, all i can see now is a solid grey strip (if this making sense?). Anyone know how to make the full strip visible again? I've tried looking in Environment, but its just the same there.
I've thought of simply changing the plug-ins to by-pass via the automation on the arrange page but they aren't even listed now. Odd
Here is a link to an image to help illustrate the problem

That's due to the Master fader being surround. So either your prelisten channels turned surround when listening to some surround loops from the Library or any other channel in your project is set to surround causing the Master channels to switinch to surround mode. If you locate the surround channel in your environment/mixer and switch it back to stereo everything will be fine again.

  • Menu options won't display in channel strips or plug-ins

Hi peeps, this is what I see whenever I click on, for example, the menu button on Sylenth 2.21 (first pic) or, second example, the Bus button on a channel strip (second pic).  No options display - and I have no idea why not.  I cannot load a new bank in Sylenth, or many other of my plugins (including Logic's own components) and I cannot assign channels to particular busses. It's a very sad state of affairs.

I'm using LP 9.1.8 on my (slowly tiring) 2007 iMac.  Can any one help me sort this please?  I'm sure it's a very simple problem, I just can't think of a simple solution.
    thanks

It seems it is only getting worse: there are no pictures.

  • Re: Shared Channel Strip settings, Plug-in settings...

    Hi all,
Has anyone gotten into shared Channel Strip settings and Plug-in settings? I read that there are multiple ways of doing this (bonjour). Just wondering if there are any good places on the net that anyone knows of.
I know it's always best to make settings to work with whatever material you're working on but I would like to hear/see what others are doing or to have a point of reference. Plus, I wouldn’t mind getting a good slap back delay. Or some solid synth leads...

    Hey Jorge,
Thanks for the reply - yep, it's cool to be able to save strip settings for aux strips and for the main out as well, to make "my" sound and keep my songs consistent.
However there are some really great pre-set settings for these strips. They can be accessed the "slow" way by holding the "Setting" box at the top of the strip, and then choosing a category and from there a preset.
But I really want to be able to go through these preset strips quickly by using the Library... you can do this for normal audio channels, and it's great to say be able to click through "bass" presets one after the other while your bass audio track is playing...
But for the aux and settings strips, I can't get the "settings" to show up as a list in the Library...
Does anyone know how this is done?!
    Cheers and thanks,
    Mike

  • My "input" slot has disappeared from from channel strips in every concert in Mainstage 3

Why is my "input" or software instrument/audio input slot disappeared from all of my channel strips in all of my concerts in Mainstage 3? I can no longer edit the instrument plug-ins because the slot isn't even visible in the channel strips anymore... I can select and use all the instrument plug-ins still, just not see the input slot where it normally shows the instrument name or bus number and that you can normally click to open up the plug-in itself and edit it. I was literally had it there and was editing the instruments, then I noticed 10 minutes later when I wanted to make an adjustment to a sound that the slot where each channel strip nests its plug-ins and "audio" inputs wasn't anywhere to be found. I can't edit the plug-ins anymore and it's driving me NUTS. Is there anything like an option somewhere in some list of settings to stop displaying the input slots for the channel strips? I've searched everywhere that I can think for that bit maybe I'm missing something. I just really don't want to reinstall Mainstage 3, but I will if I have to. Someone please help.

Ctrl-clicking somewhere on the channel strip opens a context menu. There, you can add or remove almost everything inside the strip. Can be helpful at times.
    Hope this helps. ;-)

  • 3rd party plug-ins are not displayed in channel strip audio unit insert

I have successfully loaded several 3rd party plug-ins (Wave Masters and IK multimedia Studio Bundle) into my MacBook Pro. The files are shown in Library>Audio>Plug-ins>Components, in User>Downloads, and they appear in my Audio Unit Manager (for each the box is checked for access from Logic Pro). Yet, when I go to a channel strip to launch some of the plug-ins, the product does not show up under audio units. How do I get these plug-in files to the insert list for my audio channels? Unfortunately, I need to launch these plug-ins in order to authorize them with the vendor. I must be missing a key step, but I have not had this issue before with other 3rd party plug-ins. Thanks for any direction.

Also, I know in the case of my IK Multimedia Classic Studio Reverb, it will NOT be available from within my 3rd party plug-in list, on a MONO channel.
I need to be opening the list on a stereo track (or stereo Aux), in order to be able to select those plug-ins.
See if it's something that simple...

  • All of a sudden, I can no longer add any plugins to any channel strips? And when I click on an existing plugin to edit, it disappears off the channel strip?

I am running Logic express 9 on a 2008 Macbook, (non pro).  Anyhow, logic has always seemed to work great for me.  However, last week I opened up one of many existing projects, (I'm in sample editor).  When I went to add a new plugin to one of the channel strips it would not allow me to.  Also, if I click on any plugin that already exists on the channel strip it dissapears? The strange thing that also happens weather I click to add a new plugin or click on an already existing plugin, is both the  "repeat section" and "crop", buttons from the above menu (in sample editor), the actual buttons become a faded image,(as far as the actual font and images of the buttons).  As soon as I am done clicking to add a plugin on the channel strip, both buttons from the menu  go back to looking normal like all of the other choices from that menu?  I really don't get it?  All I want to do is to be able to add plugins as well as edit or change plugins again. Any thoughts as to why I can no longer add any new plugins to any channel strips?  And why any existing plugins disappear from the channel strip when I click on it?  Why the "repeat section", and "Crop", buttons from the menu above fade in and out when I try clicking on the channel strip is very strange? I don't mind that I just want to be able to add or edit plugins again.  I did do some document cleaning up last week as my memory was getting low.  I then emptied out my trash bin.  I'm hoping I didn't accidentally delete some kind of Logic component?  Why can't I add or edit plugins anymore?  Anyone ever run across this?
    Thanks,
    Mike.

    Mike,
Are any of your other applications going wonky, or is it just Logic?
I'm afraid I've never heard of this particular problem before, but if it were happening to me the first thing I would do is delete my "com.apple.logic.express.plist" file in Library>Preferences, then repair permissions in Disc Utility, and finally restart my computer.  Then I would launch Logic and see if the problem has been corrected.  It's amazing how much these two steps can accomplish.
If that doesn't resolve the issue I would launch Logic and go to Preferences>Audio Units Manager to see if all my plug-ins are properly validated.

  • Changing FX plug in settings for channel strip aliases?

I've been trying to migrate my live performance rig from Kore 2 to Mainstage 3, and truth be told it has not been easy, nor yet successful.  Every time I overcome one roadblock to something that was so easy to set in Kore, another problem presents itself.  Thanks to much help from the users in this group, I got a handle on getting through the biggest obstacle of Mainstage ignoring PG changes to channel strips by using Multitimbral settings.
Here's the next huge stumbling block.  In Kore, I was able to set up any instance (roughly the equivalent of a Mainstage channel strip) with a series of insert effects plug ins, i.e. a piano patch with both parametric and graphic EQ, compression, etc. and was able to choose which effect(s) would be in use or defeated for a given performance preset and change the settings of any of the plug ins and be able to save them on a per preset basis.
While the capacity to load several insert FX exists in Mainstage, it appears that any changes to an effect are global across the aliases.  While I understand that only voume, pan and expression can have separate settings on an alias, I'm searching for some kind of workaround to this issue.  All I came up with was using separate busses for each FX chain each having their own settings, but that seems like a horribly inefficient use of resources.  Has anyone else found a solution to this problem?

That is not possible, because an alias is simple the _identical_ channel strip in different patches. Any change will be reflected on all occurences of the alias.

  • Plug-ins are disappeared

I use Photoshop cs6/64 bit version. since a short time all plug-ins are disappeared, nik-software as well as pt-lens. What happened? The plug-ins are correctly installed in the plugin-folder.

When you install CS6 and CC on a 64bit windows system both the 32bit version and the 64bit versions of Photoshop are installed by default.  In CS6 there is an option not to install the 32Bit version but that is not an option in the CC installer.  You could be starting the 32bit version when your not seeing the Plug-ins.  For the 32Bit version of plug-ins are installed into the 32bit Photoshop version install tree.   Check your start button how many Photoshop start icons do you have.  Also make sure ant short cut icon you use to start Photoshop is starting the right version exe. Also make sure that file associations for image files are for the 64bit version not the 32bit version.

  • Can't find my third party plug-ins in the Audio Effect slot

I've moved my downloaded plug-ins into Macintosh HD > Library > Audio > Plug-ins, and in a new Finder Window dragged the VST file and Component file into it's respective Logic Pro X files folder(s). I still don't see them in the Audio Units slot for third party plug-ins. Can anyone help me troubleshoot? I'd much appreciate! Thanks.
    -Victor

Which plugin are you trying to use?
Is it a 64bit AU Plugin?
If it isn't then LPX cannot use it....
If it is.... Does it show up in the AU Manager as validated?
(LPX menu bar..... Logic Pro X > Preferences > Audio Units Manager)

  • Why do external editors i.e. nik plug-ins disappear from the Edit in menu?

Time and time again , after creating external editors in the Edit in menu,  they disappear.  I've had this happen in LR3 and now in LR4.  Does anyone know of this?

Corky, I just tried the path you suggested. I moved the files up one level from LIbrary>Application Assistants>Aperture>Plug Ins>Edit to the Plug Ins folder. It worked.
I can now start the NIK plugins either from the pull-down meny under photo in the Menu Bar, or by right-clicking my mouse.
A slight change of subject. I've got the 200-page book, Exploring Aperture. Also have the downloaded .pdf  file of the same book. How is it that, on the Apple Support webpage, they have a .pdf book for Aperture 3.4 that is 800-pages? Did anyone else notice that?
Good to hear you got it working.
The 'Exploring Aperture' is the book that came with Aperture 3 in the retail box (in downloadable form). It goes along with the Sample library that was on the install disc and was designed to walk new users through the basics of the program.
The 800+ page PDF is the actual user's manual which describes all aspects of Aperture 3.4 in detail (although there may be some omissions here and there due to updates since 3.4). I read the original version of the user's manual when it was Aperture 3.0 and it is very informative (especially if you like that kind of reading - which I do).
If you do read through and understand the user's manual PDF, then you will know the program well. You can use the Exploring Aperture book but there will be references to the sample library which you won't have unless you have the retail install disc.
Note - there are books you can buy, but none of them really cover Aperture 3.4.x (a couple were updated for Aperture 3.3, but some significant changes were made that - IMHO - don't make buying those books of more value than just reading the user's manual). It took me about a week of reading each evening to complete it.

  • World music & orchestra plug ins keep disappearing and reappearing

I'd be grateful if anyone can explain how to keep the plug ins like orchestral and world instruments in my library permanently as sometimes when I select an instrument, the plug ins disappear from the list and I don't know how to access them until they somehow re appear. Is there an icon or a setting I can select to keep all the instruments in the library tab at all times.
These plug ins came with logic express automatically.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Hello Again,
I tried adding a new software instrument, then clicked on the settings button - but still no world or orchestral options - according to the manual they should automatically be in the settings tab along with all the other usual options - I'm wondering if it's a bug in logic express 9?

  • Plug-ins disappearing, but they are still installed!

Yesterday I went to use some plug-ins that I always use and they where gone. The plug-ins list was cut in half: some where still there, some where not. I rescanned the plugs and some reappeared, but a lot of them are still gone. Curiously I opened a project from a few months back and when I checked the plug-ins from within that project, they where all there.
Has this happened to anyone before? I hope there is a fix other than re-installing everything again.

Check whether are are using mono or stereo tracks. Depending on what the plugin declares to the host, some plugins may or may not be available by default depending on whether you are inserting them on mono or stereo tracks.
Otherwise, I don't understand why plugins would "disappear" on a by-project basis, as the available plugins are a system-wide thing.
Remember there is a difference between what plugins are "available" to Logic, and what are instantiated in your project...

  • " /-" Signs Disappeared from Channel Strip ??

    Hey guys,
Sort of new to Logic and confused.
I'm using Logic X with Kontakt and I typically set up multi-timbral tracks in order to run only 1 instance of Kontakt.
Usually, when I set it up this way, there are little +/- signs on the channel strip in the mixer, such as in the image below.
Now, however, when I make a new project and make multi-timbral tracks as I always do, there are no +/- signs.  Have I disabled a view function or something?  I have no idea why it isn't working the same.  You can see there are now no signs in the channel strip.
I hope it's something simple and someone can help.  Thanks !!

    Hi
You need to make a Multi-Out Instance of Kontakt: click-hold on the Instrument slot and choose from the drop down menu
If you want to save time in the future, save the Channel Strip or the Patch.

  • Duplicating/copying plug-ins OR bus sends from channel to channel?

Is there a key-command that I am unaware that allows me to copy a plug-in from one channel to another? Say for instance I have a few vocal tracks that I want a certain plug-in on. I know I can send it over to a bus track that way, but is there a way I can just copying a plug-in from channel to channel? I know about moving the plug-ins with the command-click and also bypassing them, but can you copy em? Thanks
    ~trevor
Edit: Is there a way to copy Bus sends to each channel rather than going through the pull-down menu and selecting 10 of em?

Am I still missing an essential OS X problem here? I am still semi-new to OS X and don't know a lot of the tricks, but I have a key called alt and option. It's on the same key... wait, I figured it out... I had to click the Command/Open Apple key, then hit the Alt/Option key. Doh.. I am an idiot. Thanks guys!

  • All my check boxes and selection circles have disappeared. Uninstalled FF and reinstalled deleting all plug-ins, settings, and etc. IE works fine. What's messing with my boxes?

With recent update, all my check boxes and selection circles have disappeared. I tried to uninstall FF, reinstall, but nothing fixed it. When I run safe-mode, it's fine, but then no youtube or other internet fun stuff. Tried to update plug-ins but still all jacked up. any ideas? also, my side scroll bar screws up too.

Do you mean Firefox safe mode or Windows Safe mode?
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
If you mean Windows Safe-mode then check your security software.
