Disappearing Contacts, Mobile Me Sync Issues, Calendar crash-Answers??

I'll try to keep this post brief but hopefully it will help provide some possible answers for frustrated users experiencing the random complete wipe out of all contacts and calendar data when syncing with mobile me using either push or fetch. After several weeks of experiencing these random sync issues and spending several hours over several days between tech support calls with iPhone then Mobile Me support and then finally a genius bar appointment where the genius said he didn't have a clue and simply offered to replace my phone.
The next morning, SAME PROBLEMS... and through it all NO ONE could tell me why my sync was so randomly unreliable. Every other day for no apparent reason, my phone would suddenly lose all contacts and/or calendar data. (A few thousand contacts and two years of calendar data). It was both frustrating and strange—even stranger that Apple techs had no clue why and seemed to think no one else was having this issue.
I tried everything - complete restores, resets, deleting and re-adding the mobileme account, etc., etc., etc. One tech support person finally said, "good luck..." The others kept handing me off the higher levels of support... until finally they just said "we don't know why this is happening." I was waiting for someone to just say, "Look, we have issues with mobile me, so hang in there and eventually it will work." I can be patient and I still think the iphone is the greatest invention in recent years. But everybody I talked with at Apple seemed to think this should be working flawlessly.
I also started having a crash on the calendar anytime I tried to see the list view for "all calendars." This was frustrating because that's the best feature of the calendar app!
I was prepared to just return to syncing with my computer and wait for the software to improve between the phone and mobile me. Finally, last night I tried a few things that seem to be working... and for the first full day, mobile me is actually useful to me today. (my fingers are crossed!)
Here's what I did.
1. I minimized the number of calendars I was syncing - I have no idea if this affected the sync, but I was syncing eight calendars, now I'm down to four. (You can easily export a calendar and import those events back into a different calendar.)
2. I did a complete restore of the phone (not from a back up) and the VERY FIRST THING, I added mobile me and synced only the calendar (set to push.) This cleared up the random calendar crash in list view and also mobile me was pushing data rather reliably. After a few moments my entire calendar was on the phone and worked perfectly. New events were transferred quickly back and forth.
3. I then chose to sync my contacts through the computer rather than over the air. I fear that the contact sync was somehow messing up the whole communication process between the phone and the cloud. Someone suggested that the number of "groups" in contacts might have an impact on the sync issues as well. I didn't need my contacts to sync with the urgency of "push" so this works for me. Plus I have a lot of contacts and it's just faster over the cable.
4. I then GREATLY reduced the number of apps on my phone. I originally had about 27 and I only reinstalled 9 of them. I did this ONE AT A TIME - starting with the most necessary and useful... and after each install, I checked the functionality of the calendar and mobile me. No problems. Perhaps I was having an app conflict?
5. Then I reinstalled the rest of my content - music, podcasts, photos. Still no problems.
ONE of these steps actually worked, and I'm not sure which one. My guess is that one or more of my apps was conflicting in some way. OR possibly something with the contact sync... but for the last 24 hours the mobile me calendar sync using push has been consistently reliable and useful. (for the record, mobile me email has always worked perfectly for me.)
No one with tech support ever suggested to me that I could be having an application conflict or any other problems with calendars or contact groups, etc. I've spent many hours on this the past few weeks... and for the first time, my iphone seems to be working with mobile me correctly.
In reading many of these posts, it seems a lot of others are having similar problems... so hopefully these suggestions might be helpful. If you have any thoughts as to which of these solutions was the correct one, I would be interested in hearing your opinion.
Thanks!

Are your Address Book contacts and iCal calendars/calendar events on your Mac synced with your MobileMe online address book and calendar?
When you say this data is not synced with your iPhone, none of your MobileMe online data is transferred to your iPhone, or after the initial transfer of this data to your iPhone when you first turned contacts and calendars for over the air syncing with your MobileMe account on your iPhone, the data is not kept synchronized with the MobileMe "cloud"?

    Hi,
I am just wondering if anything has changed in the year or so since the last posting?
I have recently bought an E61i and I am seeing similar behaviour when I try synchronising with Outlook 2003. I have the latest PC suite installed.
    To be more precise:
I can create a notes entry in the calendar item on my PC. It WILL sync to the E61i. But if I edit that field on the E61, it WILL NOT sync back to the PC.
Interestingly though, I can create a fresh calendar entry, put something in the description field and that will sync to the PC. I can edit that on the PC and it will sync back to the E61i. But if I then change it on the E61i it WILL NOT sync back to the PC.
Note that I can change other calendar attributes (eg the meeting time) and that always syncs correctly. It's just the notes that behave this way.
I get the same same behaviour for contacts. I can change someone's phone number on the PC or E61i and it will sync to the other. But changes to the notes field only sync from the PC to the E61i.
Lastly, the story is the same for Outlook notes.
My next step would be a remove/re-install in case something happened. (I used to be using Microsoft ActiveSync for my WM5 device - with the E61i replaced - so maybe there's something left over from that). But before I did that, I wanted to check to see if what I am seeing is expected (ie consistent with others).
    Thanks

  • IPhone/Mac/Mobile Me Sync issue - Contacts / Calendar

I seem to have lost all of my contacts and birthdays after syncing my iphone, mobileme and my mac. The only location which still has contacts is my iphone. Since contacts went missing, all of my birthday settings in my calendar are also gone...Any thoughts on what I need to do to restore my original calendar / contacts settings. This iPhone transition with mobile me has been somewhat complicated!

Prior to activating Mobileme you need to sync your iPhone to your computer to have all your contacts and birthdays on your computer. When you turn on Mobileme, you must sync the data to the cloud (Mobileme) from your computer first. Then when you turn on Mobileme syncing on the iPhone, it will pull your calendars and contacts from the cloud. Make sure you verify that the calendar is in the cloud before syncing the iPhone.
Do you have Mobileme syncing turned on on your iPhone? If not, you're in luck with the contacts. You can turn off Mobileme on the computer, and have the iPhone contacts sync to address book through iTunes. Make sure you have at least 1 contact in address book before syncing.
If Mobileme is on on your iPhone, I don't know a solution. One thing for future reference, once you get things restored, is to use the functionality built into iCal and address book to create backups of their data. That way, in case a problem like this arises again, you can revert to a backup and retrace the necessary syncing to Mobileme steps.

  • Outlook Sync issue - Calendar Note Field not synci...

    Hello
    I recently bough a 6233.
Very happy with the phone BUT for one issue.
I work from two offices and planned to use the phone to carry meeting & appointment data between two computers (syncing both).
When I sync with outlook the large notes field at the bottom of each calendar item is not synchronised. This imho is a vital field.
Searching this forum, I have noticed quite a few others with the same problem. Has this been fixed/rectified?

  • Mobile Home Sync Issues

I just setup a 10.5 Server and 10.5 client - Home sync is working, however my login sync is set to do ONLY ~/Library - it seems to search the entire home folder, and syncs what ever has changed - I've tried reseting this and haven't had any luck. It seems to happen on any of the 3 accounts I've created so far. Anyone else having this issue? I'm in the learning process, but have to roll out a similar setup for a client pretty soon - I can't have my login/logout times this long .
    Homes are setup via AFP
    G5 1.8 Dual 4GB Ram 1x 75GB Raptor (Boot) 1x External 1TB HD
Clean Install no upgrade (this is a test machine)
    10.5 Server Running:
    OD
    DNS
    DHCP
    AFP
    SMB
    PRINT
    iCAL
    WEB
    10.5 Client (PBG4 1.67, 2GB RAM, 80GB)
    - Clean install - 1 admin account - other accounts via OD/Mobile Homes

There's a bucketload of new preference keys in com.apple.HomeSync.plist that affect what syncs when:
    <key>syncBackgroundSetAtLogin</key>
    <string>dontSync</string>
    <key>syncBackgroundSetAtLogout</key>
    <string>dontSync</string>
    <key>syncPreferencesAtLogin</key>
    <string>sync</string>
    <key>syncPreferencesAtLogout</key>
    <string>sync</string>
    <key>syncPreferencesAtSyncNow</key>
    <string>sync</string>
    <key>syncPreferencesInBackground</key>
    <string>dontSync</string>
I think that you want to set syncBackgroundSetAtLogin and syncBackgroundSetAtLogout to dontSync.

  • Editing Contact notes - strange sync issue

I made some changes to Contact notes on the iPod, and then synced back to my Powerbook. The changes have successfully updated (and then .mac synced to my other macs) but the altered contacts no longer appear on a search
I can see then in Contacts (scroll down, open, edit etc.) but the ones that I changed on the iPod can't be brought up by keying in part of the name
This was done a couple of days ago, before 1.1.2. I'll try deleting and recreating these contacts tonight, but wondered whether anyone else has found this problem

    Update:
I managed to let the contacts update bij putting a space in the empty fields in the First Name column. But the notes who have text in them still aren't syncing. Someone has an idea?

  • Itunes/Outlook Calendar Syncing Issue - UTF-8 Flavor

I have had the usual and much discussed issue of outlook calendar does not sync with iTunes. The recommendations have been to remove iTunes and re-install, even blow away all the configuration files as well, and it even worked for me once. But not this time.
I was running Windows XP, and all of a sudden the Outlook 2007 calendar just stopped syncing. I upgraded from XP to 8.1, and that was not fun, but inevitable, and still didn’t correct the problem. Now, if you never upgraded from XP to 8.1 – you can’t – at least it is not a direct flight. First, you have to upgrade from XP to 8.0, then from 8.0 to 8.1, and there is no upgrade in place from XP to 8.0. So what does an upgrade in place mean? Your applications and profiles are not carried over. Just your data (if you ask nicely) is carried over – but all applications have to be re-installed from scratch, and reactivated if there was license activation.
So, forget about re-install of iTunes, I changed OS, reinstalled iTunes and Office 2007 from scratch. And still had the syncing problem. So, I wasn’t getting off easy.
In searching, I found some debugging stuff which I tried, as follows to turn on logging:
    So, I ran the following:
    cd C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\
    defaults write com.apple.Outlook.client.exe ShouldLog YES
    defaults write -globalDomain SyncServicesLogEverything YES
    defaults write -globalDomain SyncServicesLogPersonalInfo YES
And this turned on a lot of tracing. The tracing helped me understand what was going on under the covers, But I am not sure I was getting enough of the information that I needed to really zero in on the bad record.
Now, I will pause and provide some observation of my specific Sync.
An iTunes Sync on a Windows machine when using Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer is selected on the INFO tab of the page for the device.
Selections include Contacts, Calendars, Bookmarks and Notes.
One of the programs involved with Outlook Synchronization is: com.apple.Outlook.client.exe
The program is called when Outlook data needs to be accessed, and is used for contacts, calendar and notes when those items are paired between the iDevice and Outlook. Bookmarks are usually paired with the browser, for example IE.
During the sync operation, each of these are sync’d separately, that is why if you follow the sync actions, iTunes will reflecting what is being synced at the moment, for example “syncing contacts”.
When syncing the calendar, and iTunes is running a slow sync, it reads the Outlook calendar using the com.apple.Outlook.client.exe and does processing of the recursion and time zone information.
    For example, for recurrence:
    [5484 @ Tue Jul 01 10:30:59 2014] [YSLog com.apple.Outlook.client.exe] Setting recurrence data <04300430 0d200200 000000ae 06000c00 00000000 00000400 00002120 0000e703 00000000 00000000 00000000 0000a0e7 980cc016 d10c0630 00000830 00000000 0000a005 00000000 00000000 00000000>
    [5484 @ Tue Jul 01 10:30:59 2014] [YSLog com.apple.Outlook.client.exe] 0 recurrence exceptions
    [5484 @ Tue Jul 01 10:30:59 2014] [YSLog com.apple.Outlook.client.exe] Reading the Extended Exception Info (i.e. Unicode data)
    [5484 @ Tue Jul 01 10:30:59 2014] [YSLog com.apple.Outlook.client.exe] Done making compatible recurrence
    For example, for timezone:
[5484 @ Tue Jul 01 10:30:43 2014] [YSLog com.apple.Outlook.client.exe] Could not create a time zone from outlook name, tried using name (GMT-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)
Then the calendar entries are pushed, for example:
    ca965dbc4717d9488fafc9266f1f829304082700 =     {
            "all
    day" = 1;
            calendar
    =         (
                ca965dbc4717d9488fafc9266f1f829382800000
    "com.apple.outlook.freebusy" = Free;
    "com.apple.syncservices.RecordEntityName" = "com.apple.calendars.Event";
            "end date" = "2020-05-11 12:00:00 +0000";
            location = "United States";
            "start date" = "2020-05-10 12:00:00 +0000";
            summary = "Mother's Day";
So, my SYNC fails, and I crash and burn with:
[5484 @ Tue Jul 01 10:41:22 2014] [_ISDVLog com.apple.Outlook.client.exe] SyncServices assertion failure (nil != strUTF8) in [(null) (null)], SDLogging.m:641 could not obtain UTF-8 flavor of formatted string
    [5484 @ Tue Jul 01 10:41:23 2014] [YSLog com.apple.Outlook.client.exe] objcMain caught an exception:
    name
    NSInternalInconsistencyException
    reason     : [(null)
(null)]: could not obtain UTF-8 flavor of formatted string
    user info  : (null)
    call stack : (
Now I’m back. So, during the extract and push of the outlook calendar entries, iTunes is building formatted strings. Now, Unicode is usually 16 bit (2 characters) Unicode, sometimes called double byte code. UTF-8 is single byte, so realize you can’t squeeze 16 bits into a 8 bit byte. However, you could if the Unicode string only contained characters that were valid for the UTF-8 character set. My interpretation of the error message above was that somewhere a formatted character string contained a “non-UTF-8” character and raised the assertion. Now, my issue with the excessive detailing from the logs was that – at least with the logging parameters I had turned on – I couldn’t figure out which calendar entry caused the exception to be thrown.
First instinct was  that the last calendar entry in the trace was the culprit, so I deleted that calendar entry, ran again, the sync went up to the previous entry, and threw the exception. This gives me two theories: Either the sync was processing the next entry – which wasn’t printed in the trace yet – and failed, or the sync was going back to previous records – like reviewing the buffer. In either case, the trace wasn’t helping and it was all theories.
Now what? What has everyone been saying? Issues with recurrence. And in the trace, as you see above as an example, “0 recurrence exceptions”, “reading the extended exception info (i.e. Unicode data)”.
Now, I have no clue what that means. My initial guess was that recurrence exceptions (I had non-zeros on some) was an error. But further research I realized what it could mean was that these were situations where there were recurrence exceptions. What is a recurrence exception? Suppose I want to schedule a meeting on the 4th day of the month, for every month of the year. Well, except maybe July 4th, because it is a holiday and the office is closed. I would send the meeting invite, and then a cancellation for the July 4th. (I hear there is no simple way to do this). I now have an exception because I broke the recurrence chain. Other forms of exceptions is if I keep changing the location, or the body of the invite – e.g. every month I update the agenda, but only for one recurrence, not the entire series.
So, keep in mind,  that if the issue is conversion to a UTF-8 character, and it is failing, then uninstall/reinstall of anything is not going to help if the real issue at hand is the data in Outlook and is not a coding or configuration issue. Now, sometimes it is an issue, but you need to see why the syncserver tasks are failing, and may fail due to other reasons including other data issues.
So, what did I do? Well IO have 15K calendar entries, which, was taking an hour or two to slow sync (I call it a slow dance) and I was, spending days (maybe a couple of weeks) trying to fix this – and frustration was on the high end.
I removed some of my older recurrences, and changed others from never expire to like 25 maximum occurrences. No idea which one worked, or even if it was a coincidence. However, the UTF-8 error went away, and then I moved to the next issue.
Now, before we get there, with outlook 2007 finding recurrences is not difficult. Go into the calendar, and select appointment or list view (Outlook 2013 list view works ok). You can then sort on the recurrence column and see which (if any) items gave a recurrence pattern. Now maybe someone can figure out specific BAD calendar items that are throwing the exception to give us a better idea of what to look for and then report it so we can do further research.
Now, once we can get the issue out of the way, stop iTunes from throwing an exception, we are not 100% done yet. By this time what is in Outlook and on the iDevice is out of sync. We need to get that message to popup asking us if we want to merge the data between the iDevice and Outlook. This can be important if you don’t want to lose data. My issue is that with iTunes 11.2.2 for some reason won’t do it, i.e. when I select “reset sync history” it doesn’t work. At that point I was forced to rename my iTunesprefs, the syncserver folder, and a few other folders. In this case, for Windows 7 and later, the folders in “Apple Computer” of both the local and roaming paths, and I had to cancel running tasks that had those folders open. One way or another, you want the iTunes message asking if you want to merge the folders.
What can you do to help?
Report success or failures using the information above
Report if you are getting the same UTF-8 message, or if you are seeing other exceptions
Report specific cases of calendar entries that you find that you have isolated to be throwing an exception
Report any other logging/tracing parameters that you may find. It looks like you can turn on “ShouldLog” using the defaults.exe command for other tasks that iTunes runs.
This syncing issue has been going on for years, under different iTunes versions, there has to be something going on and an easier way to troubleshoot this problem. I wish I had the time, but right now I fixed the problem I had and was able to resync my Outlook with my two iPads and iPhone.
The only issue I have left at the moment is the message “the ipad xxx cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (-54). – despite this error message, I am syncing, but the message is distracting and annoying.

Yes - both have time zone support and are set to London/GMT
The most recent of these aberrations was not even crossing a DST change - just a simple recurring event (which I've manually changed to single events by copy/paste).
I just tried a new one which goes back 1 hr 27 Oct - when UK clocks go back. As it's a dummy apt I'll leave it and see if if goes back to the correct time on 27 Oct! In the meantime, I can't afford for my appts to get screwed up so will continue to do them manually!
    Thanks for your input.

  • Ghost contact group after syncing with Exchange?

There seems to be bugs in syncing iPhone with Exchange. After I connected to an Exchange 2007 account, I have the following groups on the iPhone:
    - All contacts
    - (EmployessList)
    - Contacts
    - WORK
    - PERSONAL
    - TEMP
I do have WORK, PERSONAL, and TEMP folders under my Outlook contacts, so those three groups are not stranger to me. But I don't understand why other two gets there.
And I understand the "Contacts" groups are for those in the root of Outlook Contacts folder, which haven't been sorted into any sub folder.
But the (EmployeeList) group totally comes out from nowhere, I don't have that folder in my Exchange mailbox. When choosing it to view on the iPhone, it is empty. I created a fake name under this group and it never get sync'ed to Exchange.
Where exactly does it come from, and how could I get rid of it?

This issue was resolved when I changed something for another error. I guess the email address has to match "case sensitively" with what you have in Exchange account. As soon as that was corrected, the (EmployeeList) group disappeared after a successful sync.

  • Contacts won't sync in outlook 2010

I am trying to sync an iphone4 with outlook 2010 through itunes.
Sync is enabled for contacts, calendars and notes, through outlook.
I have selected merge for content when I first clicked apply and I have selected none of the replace options, as all the contacts currently reside on the iphone and not on outlook and I would like them to be first transfered from the phone.
I have also made sure that the itunes add-in is enabled in outlook, and that no other add-ins are enabled.
When I click on Sync, I do not get any errors however no contacts/calendars are being transfered over
It doesn't really seem to be trying to sync them as normally first sync of contacts takes a long while (I have A LOT of contacts).
Notes on the other hand seem to have synced fine.
I've tried almost everything I could find on this forum/around the web to get this working so I would really appreciate any further help or suggestions, it is driving me completely insane

Try checking to see if you are inadvertently syncing elsewhere -- this just got me recently.  Many mail services (Yahoo in my case) now offer contacts, calendar, and notes in addition to email.  If you opted for all those services when you connected your iPhone to your mail provider you could be syncing to that contacts list, while syncing your calendar to your Outlook.  Best place to look would be in settings to see if you selected the address book.  Also you canh try this test:  Create a bogus contact on your iPhone and then go into webmail on your computer and see if it's landing in that address book.  I had tyhis kind of situation for a while and it was driving me absolutely crazy until I figured out why the sync seemed to be partial.  Good Luck!

  • Cloud sync issues

I have an iPhone, iPad and Macpro, all synced in iCloud. It was syncing well for about 4 months. From yesterday, contacts are not syncing. Calendar is syncing correctly. I reset my password on all three devices. But same problem continues. Can somebody help?

Check that Contact syncing is turned on. Check you aren't adding contacts to a non iCloud group such as On My Mac or On My Phone. You might also take a look at this User Tip, to ensure you understand the differences between the different accounts in Address Book.
Try turning contact syncing off, restarting and turning it back on again.

  • Ipod Calendar and Contact Sync Issues?!!!

    Quick note:
    Itunes 7.6.1
    Ipod 1.1 (latest)
    OS X 10.5.2
    Hi guys,
I have a 3rd generation ipod nano (4GB). It has been working fine since January but it has had trouble in the last month. I noticed about two weeks ago that my ipod nano had no contacts and no calendar events on it. I went into itunes and it was set to sync all contacts and calendars. It just wouldn't sync them. The ipod had over 2GB available free space. Software is all updated.
Unclicking and reclicking the settings didn't work, so I did unset and unplugged, etc etc. Nothing worked.
So I reformatted the ipod completely. That fixed the problem for awhile but not a week later it's started up again. when I go to my ipod it says it can only sync 21 of my contacts because:
"Only limited portion of your contacts could be loaded due to the amount of content on this ipod."
The ipod has 2.5GB available this time! None of the calendars are synced at all. It syncs my music no problem..
So what the heck is going on and what can I do?! I'm out of ideas.

This is a known issue with the current iPod nano firmware. Nothing is going to 'solve' it but an update from Apple. However, it's not nearly as serious as it seems. After you sync your Calendars and Contact (and Notes, they are affected by this issue, too), they often will not appear, but a simple reset will always 'refresh the iPod's memory'. (And you do that by turning the hold switch on and then off, and then holding down the centre button and menu button simultaneously for about 10 seconds until the iPod reboots.)
This is not actually an issue with Contacts or Calendars failing to sync. It's an issue with the iPod failing to recognise that they've been synced. A simple reset always solves it in my case and many others.

  • Sync issue with Outlook: Notes and Contacts ok - Calendar stopped syncing

    Greetings,
Syncing (via USB cable) between my iPhone 3GS (3.1.2) and Outlook 2003 SP3 (Cal, Contacts, and Notes) has never been an issue until my recent upgrade to iTunes 9.0.2.25. Since then, I noticed that my Calendar was no longer syncing either way. When I hit "Sync", iTunes would indicate that it's going through the motion of syncing calendar but no synchronization of the items take place. Contacts and Notes continue to sync fine. One off behavior is that when I connect my iPhone via USB, I get a pop-up window with "Apple iPhone" header
indicating "Camera connected" with option to pick an app (ie. MS Word) to lauch for this action. Never seen this pop-up. I just cancel out of it.
Few things I did to try to fix the issue, in vain:
    1. iTunes->Info->Advanced: forced a "Replace information on this iPhone" - no changes to my calendar
    2. iTunes->Edits->Preference->Devices->Reset Sync History - all calendar entries on iPhone are gone
    3. "Repair/Reinstall" iTunes by running the install executable
I stopped by the Genius Bar for an appointment related to my battery issue and asked the fellow about my sync issue. He wasn't "aware" of the issue.
Anyone has a suggestion for me to try? Thanks!!!

I tried now several things to resync my data cause it realy s*cks without. I tried to install itunes 9.0.2.25, 9.0.1 and 9.0.0 but nothing helped so far. I also tried to set Outlook 2003 as standard program for mailing (one forum wrote that helps, too) and I tried to find out if something blocks the communication betwen Outlook 2003 and itunes. But nothing could help so far, still no sync.
I find it interesting that when I connect my iphone to my PC an then switch in itunes to the device and the "info" pane where I can setup all my sync data with PIM programs that Outlook still remains there as default synced application. But the subfolder in contacts also the mail accounts that should be synced cannot be seen. The option to force itunes to overwrite the calendar, contacts, notes and mailaccount data on the iphone no matter what can be selected. But when i do the synchronisation all of these options are unmarked again.
Atm I'm thinking of tracing the problem down with Filemon.

I had the same problem.  Here is what worked for me.  Open the mail app and delete your exchange account (Settings > Delete Account).  Then re-add your Exchange account.  After this my Exchange contacts showed up again.

  • Ovi Suite Calendar Sync Issue - crashes when updat...

Can you help me fix an Ovi Suite sync issue?
the Ovi suite will only sync when I select the time range as 3 weeks into the past (or less)
if I select 4 weeks into the past (or more) the Ovi suite crashes about 10 seconds into the sync
I'm using a Nokia C601, sync to Windows Calendar on Windows Vista
    Ovi Suite Version 3.1.0.84
    Device Software Version 014.002
I've tried all the obvious: uninstall / reinstall / reboot, updated to the latest version on softtware on both the phone and my PC.
I've uninstalled my previous Nokia PC Suite
I'm at a loss at to what else to try to get this working?

    Could you please try this?
    1. Please, check on Task Manager (press ctrl+shift+esc) if you see NokiaOviSuite.exe process twice on the process list? If yes, kill all the instances of NokiaOviSuite.exe, nokiaaserver.exe and NokiaMServer.exe. If not, a reboot should fix the issue.
    or
2.Choose from Sync menu “Repair sync”. This operation may create duplicate entries in case the sync engine is not able match the records from different end points with each other. Also, all the deleted items which have not been removed from the other end points will be restored to the end point where the item was deleted.
    or
    3. Update phone software (Please take backup before going for software updates.
    or
    4. Atlast uninstall NOS
