Disappearing dialog boxes in software demo

I'm creating a software demonstration in Captivate 6, demonstrating tasks in Microsoft Project. When I preview the slides, they look fine. When I publish to an swf or an mp4, often a MS Project dialog box will appear as recorded, and then disappear too soon; or only part of the dialog box will be visible.
Advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks for your response! I will try out setting the slide quality to optimized, because I haven’t been especially pleased with the slide quality.
I previewed by using the Preview button: From this slide. It is not that the slide durations are too short; the boxes only disappear too soon after being published. I think Anjaneai Srivastava<http://forums.adobe.com/people/Anjaneai+Srivastava>’s suggestion has solved the problem.

I am attempting to add text to my pdf using the add or edit text tool in Acrobat Pro X. However, the dialog box that allows me to change fonts, size, color, etc. has disappeared. Does anyone know how to make the dialog box come back?

This is a new problem. It started about 2 days before I posted the question. I have not updated my Acrobat recently and I was previously able to use the dialog box with no problem. I have tried in several different documents and the dialog box is not showing up.

I've been noticing a dialog box that appears and disappears in a fraction of a second, just enough to annoy me. It happens at random times, and have noticed it while working in various applications. I've checked Console and determined that this is the culprit. What is this!?

File open/download dialog box flashes on the screen, then disappears.

I am upgrading to Firefox 17 (from 3.5.2) on Linux SuSE SLED 10. I am only moving to Firefox 17, as SLED 10 does not support anything higher than that and it is not feasible to upgrade my entire my OS.
My issue is that when clicking on a file on a website, the file dialog box (open with/save) flashes on the screen for a split second then disappears. For items that I have handled by specific applications in mimeTypes.rdf, it does the specified action. However, any file type that I have designated in mimeTypes as "alwaysAsk", I get this issue. I do not have this issue in FF 3.5.2 and I have gone as far as using my 3.5.2 mimeTypes.rdf and prefs.js files on my 17 install and it does not help.
I have looked through many forums and have not been able to determine how to fix this or whether it is fixable in 17.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Actually, I just checked my scratch disk available space and it says ot is over 1.7 TB!! I am only using the C drive as my scratch drive, as that is my only drive. Anyway, I appreciate your help! Still will not function properly. Maybe I should try reinstalling Photoshop.

Open Dialog boxes have disappeared

In OS X 10.8.2, the open dialog boxes stopped appearing in Pages and Preview. Also, all the menu text in the Mac Kindle app has disappeared. I have run Disk Utility, reinstalled the OS, the Kindle app and Pages. No change. I get Open Dialogs in other apps. Clearly, the Pages and Preview issues are related. I am guessing the Kindle app problem, if it is related, provides a clue. Can anyone help?

2) No open dialog for Pages
3) Most text missing from Amazaon Kindle application control screen and dialog boxes (almost all titles, Library, Collection, mouse overs, search box, all blank. Oddly, if I type in something in the search box, it works. I just can't read anything that comes up. I'm inserting a screen shot of someof this behavior - I did a search of the word "seek" in the selected book.)

Confirmation Dialog Box Appears Disappears

I am facing a problem here on Same os win 98 using different versions of Java run time environment.
The code is supposed to work in this way.
Applet is initiated by a click. a confirmation dialog box appears askign for input from a user in the form of a Yes or a No. if the user clicks Yes the applet continues otherwise it terminates.
while using 1.4.1_02 This problem occurs that the Confirmation dialog box appears and then disappears for the jar is being downloaded.
But using 1.3.1_04 gives no problems and the Confirmation box does not disappear.

Open/save dialog boxes disappear after leopard upgrade

hi, since upgrading to leopard, i cant open or save in logic. I can open existing documents from finder and they load ok, and i can create a new document but if i open or save from the file menu, no open/save window appears. The options in the logic drop down menus are grayed out (including quit) as though the dialog box is open somewhere but not visible. if i drag the main window to one side nothing is there and i cant quit unless I force quit the app. i've moved to different spaces but the dialog box isnt anywhere to be seen. Anyone got any ideas? thanks, dren.

How do I get icloud backup dialog box to disappear off my iPad?

My ipad is showing a dialog box on my home screen that says that it has not been backed up to icloud in 3 weeks and that I need to be locked and connected to WIFI to back up. There is a OK button that I continue to press but the box won't go away or let me do anything else. It's frozen. I have shut the ipad downa and also completely recharged. Dialog box pop up for a second and then disappears.

For the past few weeks a dialog box has been appearing on my screen for a fraction of a second and then quickly dissappears. I am unable to read what it says, but in console it says: java is listening from ::ffff:0.0.0.0:0 proto=6. File Dialog Box often takes a long time to execute

Hi all
The Labview File Dialog Box Express VI sometimes takes 5 to 10 seconds to execute. On other occasions, it executes in a blink of an eye. Why is that so?
I have tried to use the older Open/Create/Replace File VI as suggested in one of the forum's posts...but it behaves exactly the same way. Another problem is the trimming of the filename, which has also been reported and has NOT YET been solved.
(By the way...Recently, I updated to LV 2012 SP2 by suggestion of the NI Update Manager, only to find out that I was not entitled to this SP (which apparently only includes bug fixes) and I will have to roll back to LV 2012. Still, in the evaluation version I can see that the bug is not fixed. Labview must have a lot of serious bugs for NI to ask for a paid bug fix, in which some bugs remain after having been reported a long time ago..well...)
What worries me now is that intermittent lag in the execution of the File Dialog (such a basic basic function of a program...). Anyone have any idea about this? The support menu said "Ask an engineer"...any of the NI engineers has any suggestion?

The file dialog is provided by the OS, so if it is slow it is not LabVIEW's fault.
What kind of computer do you have? Is this a laptop that spins down the HD to save power? In this case it needs to wait for the HD to spin up. (You can change the windows power profile or you can spend more money and get an SSD).
Are you very low on memory?
Does your LabVIEW program waste 100% CPU in parallel doing nothing due to bad coding?
Are you pointing to a location that has millions of files?
Are you pointing to a network location?

I understand that the File Dialog is provided by the OS. But I have other applications on my PC and this doesn't happen - just in Labview. Sorry! And sometimes it
doesn't happen. Every 10 times I open the File dialog Box, 5 times it takes long and 5 times it is immediate.
(I am not low on memory, my coding is not bad>-look at the VI I sent, it just contains the fragment which uses the File Dialog Box and it behaves the same way! I am pointing to the same location that the other applications point to, I am not pointing to a network location, the PC is not spinning the disk down, etc etc.)

What problem is that? Can you elaborate? There is a known bug in the windows dialog box that sometimes the pre-filled file names are shifted and not fully visible. This is a windows bug documented by Microsoft and LabVIEW has no control over it. It is not NIs job to fix OS problems.

If it is a windows bug, we will have to live with it.
A previous post on your forum did not provide me with that information (http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/File-dialog-trimming-the-default-name/td-p/2189874). The fact that it is a windows bug was not mentioned there.

Patches are included, service packs are not included. I think this is well documented. Most users are on SSP, this way you are always entitled to the newest version.
As with anything else, software has bugs. It is impossible to test a huge, complex system like LabVIEW under all scenarios. The possible number of combinations of hardware and other installed software on any particular computer probably exceeds the number of atoms in the universe. It is actually amazing how few bugs there are and how well it works. What "bug" are you talking about? Bugs are prioritized according to rules. Critical bugs are typically fixed very quickly. A cosmetic issue that only affects you and nobody else will take longer or might not even get fixed. Are you talking about a confirmed bug that could be reproduced by NI? Do you have a CAR#?

That sentence makes no sense! Why would the number of serious bugs depend on the cost of upgrading?? You are just rambling here....
In an ideal world, NI would have an unlimited number of programmers that can work 24/7 to immediately fix any discovered bug. This would only be possible if all users are willing to pay an unlimited amount of money for the software. As I mentioned, bug fixes are free in the form of patches, and they come out regularly. Service packs include new features and are not free.

Moreover: If it isn't free, it shouldn' have let me update if I am not a SSP costumer.
Now I have a 45 days evaluation version. After that, I have to uninstall and reinstall everything.That takes some time and effort.

In the expression editor dialog box my TAB key doesn't function correctly

This is bizarre behavior that seems to have started recently.
In Visual Studio 2012, an SSRS project, any expression editor dialog:
The tab key doesn't work right.
Open the expression editor and:
* I see a blinking cursor and I can type in the expression box.
* If I hit the tab key, the cursor disappears and I cannot type. I appear to lose focus in the editor but focus doesn't appear to go anywhere else in the dialog box.
* If I hit the tab key a 2nd time, the cursor is still gone and I cannot type.
* If I hit the tab key a 3rd time, I can finally type again and note that I am now
3 tabstops in. In other words it seems like the tabs were working but I lost the ability to type anything until I "tab" 3 magical times.
I can work around this by hitting tab key then grabbing the mouse and clicking where the cursor SHOULD be which returns focus to the text area.

According to your description, as you said that the cursor disappears and cannot type issue. It seems that the issue may be not Visual Studio the VS IDE issue.

Black background in some dialog boxes

I have Windows XP SP3 on my MacBook Pro.
One Program shows up with some dialogboxes
that have black backgound and some white text,
but not all text is white some text stays black.
And black text on blach ground is not good to read
Already tried the latest nvidia driver from nvidia,
but the dialog stays black.
Is there a solution for this problem somewhere?

The black background just appears on the MacBook dialog-boxes
of this program, under bootcamp or under parallels.

Dialog Box simulation without interrupting program flow

I'm developing data acquisition/control software and need to give the end
user flexibility to change the file to which the acquired data is being
saved during operations. In the past, users have been confused with a
simple string control that specifies the data file path, so I would prefer
to move to the popup/dialog box standard to windows. Unfortunately, calling
a dialog box results in the stoppage of program flow for the caller until
the dialog box is closed (even though there may be no apparent data flow
from the popup VI.) and stopping the program flow is not an option for this
control system (the computer is controlling pressure, temperature, flow
rates, etc of a very expensive and sensitive bit of hardware, so halting the
control function for an unknown length of time is unacceptable).
I am looking for the best way to accomplish this under LabVIEW 6i.
Using a VI class reference through VI Server, I can essentially detach the
popup window from the base program execution, spawning a separate
application and passing the relevant parameters through judicious use of
global variables. If I call the subroutine via VI server with "Wait until
done" attribute set to false, the appropriate VI appears, functions
correctly, and terminates as expected. Unfortunately, it remains visible on
the screen, an inactive application. I have the VI Properties -> Window
Appearance -> Customize -> Show Front Panel When Called and the Close
Afterwards if Originally Closed checkboxes checked on this popup VI. It
seems that calls through VI Server trigger the "Originally Open" flag, so
the window does not close as I had expected.
The way I have found to get around this problem is to use VI Server to call
an intermediate subroutine whose front panel is not displayed and whose sole
purpose it to call the subroutine that calls the dialog box. This does what
I wanted, essentially. When the user wants to change directories, they
press a button that triggers a call to VI Server to open a separate
application. This application's front panel is never displayed and only
calls a sub-VI that performs all the actual work and ends when it is
completed. As this sub-VI terminates, all visible traces of the subroutines
disappear and I'm left with just the primary program executing, continuing
to take and send control signals through this whole process.
This seems a rather cumbersome way to get a custom dialog box on the screen
without stopping the program flow of the caller, however. Is there a more
efficient way to accomplish this?

Wouldn't it be easier to use two parallel independent while loops in the
main vi, with one taking care of acquisition and the other of user
interaction.
When the UI loop is temporarily 'halted' because of the dialogue box poping
up, the acquiring loop continues without delay.
