Disappearing email

My email has been disappearing from my phone.  I verified with Att that outlook settings were correct on computer. I was advised to reconfigure email acct on phone. To soon to tell if it worked. Any other suggestions?

I've had the same problem, if you select emails and click on Delete or Spam, it moves the wrong messages to the Trash and SpamDetector folders. Check those folders for your missing emails. If you need to delete or mark as spam multiple messages, use the Move To button and it will move the correct messages.

  • Disappearing emails in Mail

I have been having a very weird problem with mail since the last few weeks. I pop my email from gmail and I have usual folders and some basic rules.
The new mails (as well as some read ones) keep disappearing from the Inbox. But they showup again when I open it later. I have not been able to figure out when it decides to show some mails and when it does not. So I would download some 50 mails, it will show only 10 new ones. But after many hours or even days it suddenly show the remaining 40 mails and again they keep disappearing.
In this state, even my sent mails act funny. They just do not seem to go out, even though it says sent and suddenly one day I see week long send mails stacked up in the outbox.
I never had this problem before, but mail just started doing the last few weeks.
Any idea whats wrong and what could be the solution to this ?

    Try rebuilding your Mail index:
    1. Quit Mail if it's running.
    2. Go to ~/Library/Mail and delete the Envelope Index file.
    3. Restart Mail and wait for it to import your existing messages. When finished, check to see if your disappearing emails are back to stay.

  • Recovering disappearing email

I have my junk settings so that suspected junk mail is marked junk but stays in my inbox.  I noticed that sometimes certain email that I send is later marked a possible junk in my sent folder.  Anyway, I noticed that if I move those possible junk emails into a folder and then click on the icon in the upper right corner of the email to change it to "not junk", the email just disappears. Whereas, if I change the email to "not junk" while it is in the inbox, it remains there.  So I learned to change just email to "not junk" before moving to any folder.  My question is whether I can get back those disappeared emails.  Thanks.

This is a copy of a post i made on CrackBerry about Disappearing Email and it seems to just be Gmail as best as i can tell. There are a lot of people on CrackBerry having the same trouble. I have the new software 7.0 1739 / V7.0.0374.
I have been to the email set up page and check the setting and unchecked the delete syn box and on the phone i have unchecked the email syn box. My email is set up to delete in 15 days and it is Not a low memory problem i have plenty of memory.

Using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail > this POP account named folder (named by the user name and incoming mail server for the account).
Within the account named folder should be the following folders; INBOX.mbox, Drafts.mbox, Sent Messages.mbox, Deleted Messages.mbox and Junk.mbox (if Junk Mail is set to automatic).
Confirm there is an INBOX.mbox named folder and if so, post back listing the file and folder names available within the INBOX.mbox folder.
In addition, confirm there is not another POP account named folder with a similar name within the Mail folder.

  • GoDaddy IMAP automatically deleting/disappearing emails from Inbox, solved!

We're running a unibody Macbook 13" with Mac OS X 10.5.8, all patches, and Apple Mail 3.6.
When we moved from Earthlink POP to GoDaddy IMAP, we almost immediately started losing emails from the Inbox.  They would literally disappear before our eyes.
We checked online, found others with the same problem, and no actual fixes (some workarounds, such as switching to GoDaddy Exchange email).
I called GoDaddy for help today.  Aside from the usual run-down: Are you sure it isn't configured as POP?  Did you check that any other devices aren't getting the emails as POP?, we finally got a new solution I hadn't heard before:
    Turn off Auto Purging.
If you log into GoDaddy Webmail, right-click on the Inbox, and click Auto-Purging, a little setting pane comes up.
If Auto Purging is already turned off, turn it off again anyway, and make sure the little pop-up confirming the setting has been saved comes up in the bottom right corner.
This seems to have fixed the problem.  We've gone for about an hour now without the emails disappearing.
What's more, I got lucky and found that the emails had been thrown into the Trash by the Auto Purge feature, so I could retrieve them (some of them disappeared before Time Machine could back them up).
One important possibility:  I discovered that I had mapped the Trash folder to Deleted Messages and not to GoDaddy's Trash folder.  So I set this to point to GoDaddy's Trash thinking that this might help.  It MIGHT have been what fixed the problem, but it's not likely.
A few other notes to help you guys:
    1) We weren't losing emails from any IMAP folder except the Inbox.
    2) I tried setting the IMAP folder path to / but that broke the subfolders.
    3) After turning off the Auto-Purge and dragging the deleted emails back into the Inbox from the Trash (using Apple Mail to do so), there were duplicates of these emails in the GoDaddy Webmail Inbox that did not show in the Apple Mail Inbox.
    4) Using other mail clients like Thunderbird didn't help.  The iPad and iPhone would eventually lose the emails too as everything sync'd up with the server.
    Hope that helps somebody!

I've had the same problem...  As with MOST of the e-mail problems with the PRE the best solution is to delete the account and reload it...  I've had to delete and add my account twice!!!
PALM better fix the e-mail functions or a lot of people (my self included) will get real fed up deleting and adding the account every two weeks...
PALM - ARE YOU ADDRESSING THE PROBLEMS???

  • IMail: slow performance, disappearing emails, random receipt/dispatch of emails

Other users in this forum have reported problems with iMail after upgrading to ML (e.g., iMail slowing down significantly). I suffer from these problems as well, in particular:
    1. iMail has slowed down. I followed the advice of other users and deleted all envelope-type files in the library thus "forcing" iMail to reimport all mails. This helpe for a second, until the next problem emerged.
    2. In addition, mails apper and disappear randomly depending on the folder that has been activated/highlighted. After a few minutes, mails in other folders appear and disapper.
    3. Furthermore, even when all mails in a folder have been read, reference to "x" or "z" mails that were indicated as unread before would not disappear.
    4. Finally, dispatch and receipt of emails also only randomly works, which means that form time to time emails can be sent and received - but the program is no longer stable.
As a consequence, iMail has become unusable as of today. Can anyone help solving these problems? Comments and suggestions very much appreciated.

I am having this problem as well.  If you quit mail and reenter it, you will see your exchange mail again.  Question, do you that are having this problem have a large inbox?  Others in my office are not having the same problem but the only difference I have found is that I use searches to organize my inbox instead of physically moving exchange mails into folders so the inbox doesn't have as many messages.
However, Apple NEEDS to fix this ASAP!  This has been an absolute pain in the ***.

  • Randomly Disappearing Emails

Often, I am checking emails and right before my eyes some emails will completely disappear. But not all in the thread, or even in that certain email account...just one or two. I am unable to find them in my deleted file, either in my iPhone or even if I login on my computer. They literally disappear forever. My settings are all the same...with high limits of what are synced. And especially since they aren't deleting in clumps or groups, it just doesn't make sense...

It happens both on my gmail and my exchange....I'm not deleting through the computer at all. Today's specific instance I had just gotten the email 1 minute prior to opening my phone. It happens to my text messages too. I'll get the banner at the top of my iPhone while I'm in another app...then when I go to review the text it isn't there. It started happening about 3 days ago...mayesimething is wrong with their network??

  • Disappearing Emails while using iPhone 5 IOS 7.0.4

On several ocassions already I have opened an email with iPhone Mail and while reading the email accidentally disappears and cannot be found or recovered either in the iPhone or in the main Gmail database.  I could not find the email by searching, Sender, Subject, All Mail, Deleted Messages, Spam or Trash Folders. The last email I was reading was important and it disappeared to oblivion while using the iPhone, a very, very frustrating problem.
In the past I had a similar situation two-three times but later I was able to find the email in Deleted Message folder or in the back of a string of email with a particular Sender. Now iPhone just disappears the message completely. Unreliable using iPhone unless one insures that your PC or Mac Book already has the email downloaded before attempting to use iPhone to read the email content. It does not happen all the time just periodically and also makes me wonder if the email was Recalled by Sender and whether an email once received, opened and read it can the deleted by Sender!?????

Sometimes when i reject a coming call then i try unlocking screen ,  swiping to the right is not working only draging notification center and  contol center works but i cannot click on any toggle only click home  button to close both, in order to fix the problem i have to reboot the  iphone or answer a coming call .

  • Disappearing email on iphone 5c

I have an SMTP email account.  I sync it to my iPhone 5c, my Macbook Pro, and my iPad.  Frequently mail that I have received on my iPhone will disappear.  Mail that I have discarded is in the Trash folder, mail that I've sent is in the Sent folder, but received mail that I have in my Inbox simply disappears.  I've fiddled with the settings and can't find any setting that would periodically dump email from the Inbox.  Appreciate any ideas.

  • Nokia E72 disappearing emails from outlook email a...

On my E72 i have my ntlworld.com (outlook express email account), my yahoo and googlemail account.
The yahoo and googlemail work fine and the inbox, sent etc emails are as they should be and stay on the phone and on my PC at home when i log in......
    BUT
on my outlook account when i read the emails on my phone they disappear from the inbox (and phone) and are not there when i check on outlook express at home?????
when i first got the E72 it worked fine and emails i looked at on my phone remained on the phone and were at home on outlook express still????
    i havent done anything different???
Very frustrating as i use this address currently to receive wedding RSVP's and they are disappearing???!!!!!!!
I cannot beleive i am the only one suffering this.
    PLEASE HELP ME.
    Thanks
By the way i am in the UK and on T-Mobile as a provider.

I use an E72 to access my emails amd have the same problem. My inbox empties as soon as I try to open an email (especially if it has an attachment).
I can still pick up my emails in Microsoft Outlook because Virgin will let you prefix my user name with 'recent:'. this allows emails to be downloaded on different machines even if they have been downloaded before. When you first make the necessary change, your email client will download all emails on the server but after that only new emails will download.
Presently, I can download the same emails to my Desktop as well as my Laptop but still have a problem with my E72.
Can anybody out there suggest a fix?

  • Disappearing emails

I've got another mac in my office which I use to send and receive emails, using my dot mac account. However, when I use my regular computer (PB G4) to send emails from the same account I've noticed it downloads whatever emails I received earlier - then they disappear????
Does Mac Mail not like two computers receiving emails from the same account? Would love to hear from anyone that can help. Thanks.

    Hello Dan.
Are you accessing your .Mac account as a .Mac or IMAP account with Mail on both Macs?
If so, are the Mailbox Behavior settings for the account preferences and all account settings identical with Mail on both Macs?

  • Anyone ever solve disappearing email bug

Not sure if anyone else is noticing this but the disappearing only happens to me when I open mail app and quick view an email before the app finishes updating. It then vanishes while I'm reading the message once the iPhone completes its "push" update of the server emails.
I searched so forgive me if this was resolved already.

    Email provider is Yahoo.
I dont have a limit on number of emails. Emails were only days old and besides, months old emails remained untouched and intact. A quick search reveals this happening to others long before but I see no solution, explanation, or response from Apple. As a matter of fact I see no discovery on how it happens until now. I encourage you to try it, with an email you can afford to lose of course. It's not so much my inbox but other boxes I have set up to store emails I don't want kept in inbox.
If I move an email from inbox to that custom mailbox, then back out to go to that particular custom mailbox, while its updating I view an old email that was already in the box, that old email will be kicked out once the mailbox finishes its download of "newly added" messages or updates itself. Again, no limit on number of messages per box.

  • TS1398 Disappearing email....

Prior to recent update I could see all my hotmail email on my ipad.  Now I can only see the last few message before they disappear (can see them all on my  iPhone!). How do I amend the settings? There used to be a "show all" button under settings but it seems to have disappeared.

Ps I have already tried deleting the account and reinstalling and I could see less email after doing this!

  • Disappearing email text?

My wife is having problems when drafting and editing draft mail messages on our G4 Power Book; at various points a section of text already drafted disappears when she makes a change just preceding or following that section. She does not triple click or drag to highlight in blue. Any ideas? We have Tiger, with all updates, and no extra programs on the HD beyond the usual Adobe and Java plugins.

    Restart your mac:
Safe Boot: Hold down the shift key after the chime until the Apple logo appears and the gear is moving.
It will take awhile but you will be asked to login.
Go to your Applications folder> Utilities and launch Disk Utility.
In the left side column, highlight your drive and repair permissions.( button down below).
    From BDAqua:
Quit Mail, then In your home folder, try moving this folder & file to the Desktop then reboot...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail
    Move to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
Mail will ask to import your messages. If all goes well and Mail is fixed trash the files on the desktop.

  • Disappearing eMail out of Mail (in ML 10.8.1)

Having sent an importan eMail out of the Mail ( to several recipients) containing one photograph it went out OK . Since then one kind recipient replied back (sending back my original eMail). Just as well, because when I inspected my specific Sent Box to find the email to forward the part of it to another preson , the eMail vanished . Ther was no record of this eMail anywher . I searched all SENT boxes and none of them contain record of this email. I even searched the Trash in the Mail (just in case ) and it is not there either and trash has not been cleared for some time.
If the kind recipient did not respond to I would have NO RECORD of this communication at all. I think we are dealing with a serios issue with the Mail - I was starting to install Mountain Lion at my clients workstation and I have stopped this task immediately.
This is the only major problem I have to report - but it is serious enough to warn others. I suggest if you are sending any critical eMails , save them immediately as a PDF or print them out.
    Milan Svanderlik - London UK

Yes I do , I have same eMail ( two lots of me.com IMAP accpounts and 3 lots of POP accounts  ) on my Mac Pro, on my MacBookPro ( both on 10.8.1 ) but also on iPhone ( latest version of OS)  nothing changes the only change is move to Mountain Lion . Same preff settings on both machines.
I did go to iCloud to make sure - but the missing sent email is nowher to be seen - it has vanished.
Well we need to monitor this matter closely - lets hope it is one off .
    Very strange indeed
