Disappearing meetings

I have been having serious problems with losing meetings which I entered into ical. When I go back to check they have vanished. It seems to be happening randomly. I use isync to sync my calender up to another computer and had it on auto sync. I thought this might be the problem so I changed it to manual sync. This did not work and am still losing important info. Anybody any ideas?

Hi
Is it missing from outlook but if you login to owa then the meetings are visible? Which phones are the users using?
Hope this helps. Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

  • ICal Bug: Disappearing Meetings

I am posting in the hope that someone else can validate and help me solve a problem I have been having sporadically with iCal. I have done other searches and see that people have complete vanishing calendars but this seems to be a more subtle form of the same issue.
Problem: Meetings will vanish or disappear from my Calendar.
Factors: I have two macs, synced through .mac. My home computer and my laptop. Both running 10.3.4. Both running the current versions of iCal and iSync. I generally have iCal running on both computers at the same time, but I only update one at a time (since I only use my laptop at work and my desktop at home)
I haven't been able to reliably reproduce it which is the frustrating part.
It seems that between closing iCal and restarting, it will loose meetings / meeting information(for example, it will show "New Event" but be missing the name and location information), which makes me think that there might be problem relating to sync -- that something from one computer is overwriting the new one with "no meeting" so it is getting erased. It shouldn't work that way, but I cannot explain it any other ways.
It has happened enough that I now have to go in and check repeatedly to see whether a meeting is still there. It is very frustrating as the missing meetings have made me miss calls or appointments.
I have checked to make sure I haven't accidentally put it on a different day / time (I am 99% sure it is not user error)
    Details:
    Mac OS 10.3.4
    iCal: 1.5.2
    iSync: 1.4
The meetings are only with myself - I don't usually invite other attendees.

A similar thing happened to me recently. An entire calendar ("home") completely vanished, not just a few entries. I had recently added some birthdays to the calendar and the next time I opened up the program. Poof, all gone. I'm going to have to avoid the program until this problem is fixed. I can't have important information across an ENTIRE category vanish like this. It could be devastating if too much info months in advance gets put in there.
I don't synch it up with anything, so I don't think that's what caused the problem. I did enter each birthday address with an "eternal" setting. I wonder if this is what corrupted it so badly? Too many birthdays times infinity?

  • Calendars disappeared- meetings visible by clicking a view-can't add new

Hi All- Any help appreciated! Here are the symptoms:
    1. When I open iCal the calendar is blank- no calendars on the left and no meetings on the day/week/month views
    2. If I click on one of the views all of my meetings show up but the calendars on the left are still gone
    3. I can type an event and pull down one of my calendars but when I hit enter the entry is not visible.
    4. Clicking in the blank space where the calendars are supposed to be has no effect.
The only thing I can point to in terms of a possible cause is installing the latest version of MarkSpace Missing Sync 5.0.2 after which this happened.
Since the only recent backup of my calendar was on my Palm TX, I synced to a different Mac (my iMac G5) and backed up to .Mac. When I try to get my calendar back via DotMac I have the same problems outlined above no matter which computer (G5 Dual or iMac G5) I use.
I even erased the whole disk on my iMac and reinstalled Tiger and apps and after syncing to DotMac my calendar is still messed up. I've also tried throwing out all events and related files bringing iCal back to the default with blank "work" and "personal" calendars like when you first install. After syncing with either DotMac or Palm TX the calendar looks fine until I try to click on a calendar or make an entry and then I'm back to the same problems.
I should note a couple things. First the calendar on my Palm TX seems to work fine on the Palm and I have since uninstalled Missing Sync 5.0.2 and gone back to the previous version I know to be reliable but if I sync the Palm calendar I still have the same problem.
If anyone knows a way to save my calendar I'd be grateful!

I was on the phone with Apple Support for over 4 hours on this issue with two different techs. The case number is #55863808. It is still wide open with no resolution. I am convinced it is a combination of Apple's published API's for third partiy programs to interact with iCal combined with Mark-Space's implementation of those APII's. Once whatever is being corrupted in your user library gets corrupted, there is NO FIX, at least so far. Hopefully, if others are experiencing this problem, they will report it here. Rest assured Apple is reading this thread.
    We know the following:
    1) If you create a new user account, and log in under the new account and launch iCal, it works fine. So, it's apparently something that gets corrupted in the user library AFTER a Mark-Space Sync.
    2) Doing an archive and re-install of the OS does NOT solve the problem.
    3) iCal continues to work normally "beneath" the problem. For example, you can add a calendar and then go highlight an event and assign it to the new calendar you just created. (Of course, since you can't actually SEE the new calender you can't delete it nor can you re-name it.)
    4) When you delete an event, it does in fact delete it, but the display does not update. You need to change the view (i.e. move forward/backward a day/week/month and then come back and you'll note the your deleted event is no longer being displayed
    5) Likewise, the display doesn't update when you try to restore a calendar or subscribe to a calendar, yet both actions actually work. You'll think the software is locked up becuase the dialog boxes don't go away, but the action has taken place and finished already. The menus don't work, but if you go to the dock, you'll note that the program does NOT indicate that it is not responding and you can simply quit and relaunch.
Let's hope Apple does what they've promised and forwarded the case to a senior levelengineer who has access to the program developers. This is quite clearly a major bug that needs to be acknowledged and addressed by both companies.

  • Meetings disappearing

currently have iPhone4 with the current IOS with active sync configured with our Exchange 2007, we currently seeing with heavy calendar users that meetings are disappearing from their outlook or iPhone when any new updates occurs to an existing or recurring meeting, is there a fix for this?

What we've had to do is to try and implement all of the "Calendaring Best Practices" found under
"Outlook Meeting Requests: Essential Do's and Don'ts", as well as keep an eye on client side caching, the order that acceptances are done in on the IOS devices, minimizing delegate relationships, coaching people to only accept or edit appointments from one ( ideally non-mobile) device.  We basically try to modify end user(particularly admins) behavior to reflect the best practices document.  The situation you describe however really seems unusual; if I understand correctly deletion of one non-recurring appointment will lead to deletions of other, non related appointment.
One thing I've found that sometimes makes a big difference is taking the Outlook client out of cache mode. The other thing is to get one instance of mail correct, ideally in Outlook or Outlook web( since this presumably represents what is on the mail server itself, and is unaffected by caching issues), then removing the mail from the IOS devices by removing the exchange server setting and adding it back in.  This will add in the correct version from the on-line version of Outlook.
We had some serious internal discussions about this several months ago and came away convinced that this is an issue affecting LOTS of Exchange users at a number of organizations.
I wish I could say I knew of a "silver bullet".....hope the above helps a bit.

  • Exchange Calendar Sync & Recurring Meetings

I'm having a problem with recurring meetings in my Outlook calendar.  I have a Touchpad and Pre Plus synced to the calender.  A couple of times when I recieved notice of a cancelled meeting for one occurence in a series, I clicked Remove from Calendar and it was removed from the Outlook calendar on my computer.  It was not removed from the calendar on the Touchpad and Pre, even after syncing.  If I try to delete the occurence from the devices it does not work - on the Touchpad the event disappears for a second or so and then re-appears.  On the Pre it just remains on the calendar.
Post relates to: HP TouchPad (WiFi)

  • Accept and invite in outlook, disappears from my desktop PC calendar but shows on my ipad exchange calendar

If i accept an invitation on my pc (outlook 2007, Exchange 2003)  it shows up for a brief time and then disappears but shows up on my ipad2. This was a message sent to all users and all users that do not have an iPad2 have the message on their calendar correctly, all users that have iPads only end up with the calendar entry on their iPads.

If the meeting has already been accepted on a standard Exchange client, the iPad/iPhone should show the meeting as Status: Accepted and not offer the Accept/Decline option (unless opening the meeting itself). This is expected behavior. Accept/decline meetings in one place/client, ideally a real Exchange client like Outlook/OWA vs ActiveSync-enabled device (like iPad/iPhone).

  • Disappearing Calendar Items

About 4 days ago all of the items in my iCloud Calendar started to disappear from my iPad and iPhone.  I have been using iCloud as my master calendar for my PC, iPad, and iPhone since iCloud was introduced.  Now all of a sudden things are starting to disappear from my calendar.  If i enter an event into my iphone, it will show up for a little while and then disappear.  It will never synch with my computer or iPad. Same goes if i put it in my Outlook, it will never get to my iphone or ipad and will just disappear totally from my computer.  My calendars are all set to iCloud.
    Please help!

Not sure if your issue is related to this, but Microsoft says in a couple of their documents that both the principle and the delegate must accept all meeting requests, for a specific meeting even if the item has already been accepted by one or the other.  If one accepts, and the other deletes it from their inbox, the meeting will come off the calendar. We found this was one thing that would make accepted meetings vanish.  One way to fix this is to ensure that only the principle or the delegate or notified of the meeting, not both.  This becomes even more of a challenge when you have multiple instances of the Outlook inbox....iPhone, iPad, Outlook and delegate etc....all must be accepted.

  • Past events in my iphone calendar disappear when i sync to my mac, except repeating appointments. Have I got my settings wrong? I'm not very technically savvy!

    Hi,
When I sync my iphone to my Mac, the events that I put in to the calendar on my iphone disappear. I'm

I am having the same issue with iPhone and Outlook on WinXP SP2. It is not all of my calender meetings, only some.
I verified the timezone settings as described in this thread. Settings | General | Time Zone Support = Yes. Time Zone = Columbus, USA (Columbus, Ohio?) I also tried other cities in the Eastern Time Zone since it was not clear if Columbus = Ohio or Georgia.
My desktop computer is set to Eastern Time Zone in the Date/Time Settings of Windows XP. Hours & Minutes are in synch between iPhone and Desktop.
I have also tried the synch option under the Info tab in iTunes to replace Calendar data on the next synch. No luck.
    Suggestions?

  • Why does the Send button disappear on iCal invites?

Just to premise this post with the fact that this is from our networked work server, all running Macs on 10.6.7 and using iCal 4.0.4. I'm writing this on behalf of a colleague.
When she goes to send invites to events like Board/Committee meetings in iCal, the "Send" button often disappears. The title is there, there's a day/time and location, and the contacts are pulled from her Mail/Address Book contacts. Sometimes the send button stays as it should, and other times it disappears after a few seconds, with no way to bring it back up. So sometimes she tries to add a group of contacts and immediately hit Send before it disappears - but this often leads to typos or mistakes due to her rush.
Although I've used a Mac as my primary computer for years, I've never really used iCal much, so I didn't know how to help directly.
Any reasons why the Send button would not be showing? I was thinking perhaps it was an issue with the contacts, but they come directly from her daily Mail/Address Book. I saw her go through the steps - it doesn't appear she's missing anything. Any help would be great.

perhaps you could post a screen capture of that?
Does it work if you hold shift while you start Thunderbird?

  • How can a calendar completely disappear?

Every few months I have an issue with iCal. One or more of my calendars COMPLETELY disappear. I have an iPhone with a list of calendars on the phone and on iCloud. The iCal application on my laptop only has iCloud. Calendars seem to magically vanish from iCloud while they remain on my phone. It's driving me crazy!!! I'm about to look for a different calendar app to use. Any suggestions? I need my MacBook Pro to sync with my iPhone.
    Thanks!

The calendar "Work" was on my MacBook and iPhone Calendar until yesterday morning. On my iPhone, it's listed in "ON MY IPHONE" list but not in "ICLOUD". If I understand correctly, if the only list I have on my MacBook is iCloud, then it must have been in iCloud. What I don't understand is how it suddenly vanished from ICLOUD. ALL of my meetings - basically my whole work life - literally vanished. This is not the first time. It happened a few several months ago and I can't remember how we got it back.

  • Appointments disappearing from iPhone

I just missed an important appointment today because the appointment disappeared from my iPhone, which is what I use to check my schedule. After learning that I missed the appointment, I checked iCal and mobileme through Safari, and the appointment still appeared in both of those calendars. I hit the sync now button on my MacBook Pro several times trying to sync my various calendars, but the appointment still does not appear on my iPhone (although it is still in all the other calendars).
Mobileme is truly worthless if it will not sync properly, and worse yet if it deletes appointments without warning from the device onto which they were initially entered. Is this service ever going to work properly. Has anyone else experienced this particular problem?

I've been having this problem. I have done the "reset sync history" thing and also replaced my data a bunch of times. The problem is I keep having to reenter information! The fact that I will add an event on my iPhone and then I'll make a call or do something else and when I return to the calendar it appears that either that event is deleted when the the phone and MM "pushed" the data.
For example, an hour ago I added 2 new events on my iPhone calendar and moved the date of 2. I even let the calendar program stay open for a few minutes to make sure that is "pushed" the data without any interruptions. I then returned to my calendar 15 minutes later to check to see if everything stuck and it was all still there. I then checked it an hour later and all of the data returned to how it was RIGHT BEFORE I CHANGED EVERYTHING! I can't afford in my business to miss the meetings that I have entered or to lose the information that I enter!
I honestly think that there is no solution for this right now, because MM is so unstable. There is no option out there that let's me designate which device should overwrite the others. There should be an option to set iPhone>MM>iCal or however I want to set it. Otherwise MM will just decide to overwrite my iPhone data whenever it wants.... who can afford that in the business world?
Also, It is resetting my "default calendar" every time this syncing problem happens... this makes me think that my calendar on the iPhone is crashing and not pushing the data immediately. Then when it resets on the iPhone it reloads some old data from the MM servers that SHOULD have been replaced hours ago but wasn't.

  • Calendar attendee disappearing issue

I am running into an issues with calendar attendee's disappearing when the ipad is connected to our email system and automatically syncing the information from our exchange 03 server.
If i go under Settings, Mail, Fetch new data, Turn off Push, Select manually for Fetch, Then Select Advanced, Select your email account, Select Manual, the attendee problem goes away but then you are stuck having to go into the mail or calendar to get it to update the information.
I have tried variations of turning on the push and selecting different fetch options and nothing else works but to completely stopping the auto syncing on the iPad.
If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated

I am running into the same issue for a senior exec syncing his iPad with Exchange 2007. When synchronization is turned off on the iPad, then the meetings he's invitied to appear to be fine in the calendar within Outlook 2007.
    His iOS is 3.1.x
I've advised updtaing the OS but I am curious if this is a known issue.

  • How do I delete meetings from iCal without notifying everyone?

How do I delete meetings from iCal without notifying everyone?  I've searched the Web and the only answer that comes back is to use a product that doesn't help me with Microsoft Exchange.  This seems like a fairly simple thing to fix, but has been outstanding for 3+ years.  Really?  Am I the only person who wants to remove old meetings from an Exchange calendar without whacking the entire calendar and its appointments and without having the original participants getting spammed?
I'm using the built-in "delete events xx days after they have passed", which you would think wouldn't do this.  Guess again.  I cannot control the fact my clients use Exchange, and it's a fairly common e-mail system for enterprises to have.  Are there any solutions?
    Thanks!

I was just experiencing this problem on Mountain Lion. The calendar I wanted to delete was on iCloud. So, I logged into iCloud from a web browser, and selected Calendar. On the current incarnation of iCloud Calendar the calendars are listed on the left. I selected the "Edit" link at the top of that list and chose delete. It indicated that the items would be deleted, but there was nothing about notifications. Then, when I went back to iCal on my Mac, I selected the calendar to be deleted, right clicked, and slected refresh...
    ... gone.
It probably would have disappeared on it's own eventually. I'd be curious to see if theis works for others, so please confirm.
    Good luck.

  • IOS Lync client can't join meetings

I have an iPhone user who was able to join Lync meetings when he was at home and at his office. He recently moved to a new office, and now every time he tries to join a meeting, Lync 2010 says "Can't connect to exchange web server. You can try again
later." I can see him pop into the meeting and immediately disappear again.
He is signed into Lync and into Exchange or he wouldn't be able to see the meeting from the Lync client. The problem is only with
joining the meeting. So the server addresses, username, etc., should be correct.
Is this a problem with cell service (He has 2 bars of 4G at his new location) or is something else going on?

Please check if the problem exists with other Lync mobile devices and other Lync accounts.
If the problem exists with all users in the new office, please check the Outlook Anywhere rule is there for the new office.
For further troubleshooting, enable logging in Lync Mobile client on the iPad and check the logs for any issues connecting to Exchange Autodiscover URL or EWS URL.
