Disappearing playlists on iPhone 5

I'm not sure if it's the iOS 6 or the iPhone 5, per say, but I have uploaded my entire music collection to a 64G iPhone 5 many times now, and after syncing it all seems to vanish off the phone.  Not every day.  Just randomly.  This happened with another iPhone 5 I'd purchased (which I returned thinking there was a glitch with it): I completed syncing, even listened to music later in the day, and then the next day for no clear reason my entire library disappeared from my phone.   I've reset the phones and have also tried taking off all music and reloading, but the music vanishes after a few hours or days. Is anyone else having this issue and what have you done about it?

I seem to be having a similar issue: iOS6 with iPhone 3GS. I sync manually every day (due to podcasts and a horribly inept Podcast apps), and the music (and audiobooks, and podcasts, and iTunes U material) has all just disappeared again today, for the second time in two weeks.
No idea what to do about it. Today is just my second time re-loading all 15GB of music, and it's incredibly frustrating.
Sort of discussed in this thread...
iOS 6.0.1 - disappearing music playlists
... although I don't know if it's exactly the same issue.

  • Playlist on iPhone 6 plus disappeared

For some reason, the other day I went to play some music on my playlists and they were all gone. These are playlists I created on my iPhone NOT on my computer in iTunes. Just directly on my phone. I have it backed up to iCloud.
I tried restoring, no luck. I updated to the new software 8.3 this morning and thought that might work, negative. So, all of my playlists have simply disappeared from my iPhone Plus.
I have even tried the disabling iTunes match work around, and that had no luck. Again, I do not have this playlist on my computer/iTunes, so I have no idea how to get it back.
    Any ideas?

I had this since the outage yesterday (11th March).
I had logged out of the iTunes store on my phone and my playlists vanished.
To get them back I re-switched on "iTunes match" under "settings" "iTunes and app store" - I think!
    hope this works

  • How do you stop synched iTunes music disappearing from my iPhone 5?

I have about 35G of music on my iTunes on my iMac, a good % of it having been purchased on ITunes.  The music sync setting for my iPhone 5 is automatic / everything.
For the past couple of months, I've been noticing music disappearing from my iPhone when it's offline (eg on the plane, when I listen to my music on my iPhone the most).  Such music would come back as "in the cloud" when I regain wifi / data access.  I would then download them onto my iPhone again.  And then they would disappear again!  How can I stop such annoying behavior?  Does switching music sync to manual help?  Thank you.

    Hello claire267
In the Messages app, in the drop down menu go to Messages > Preferences. Once there click the Accounts tab and then remove the iMessage account and that will stop all messages associate with your phone number from showing up on your computer.

  • My App store and itunes has disappeared from my iphone

My app store and itunes apps have disappeared from my iphone.
I suspect Apple is responsible and is trying to force an upgrade. Does anyone know if this is true? because if it is we should object to this.
The upgrade on my ipad was such a horrible experience, I don't want to do it to upgrade my iphone. (Upgrades have been a nightmare every since the itunes interface was changed. In my view, iTunes is the now one of the most unintuitive interface imaginable - [bar windows 8]. Prior to that it was generally easy to do upgrades and backups without hiccups and the interface was great. Now its too obscure to find what you need to do.)
I have been an Apple fan since the original Apple computer - but am not very happy with recent changes that affect use-ability and reliability.
General grumbling aside - every time you upgrade, you have to reload all of your apps; and a lot of favorite apps won't work with the new system. That's another reason I don't want to upgrade.
Without the App and iTunes application - you can't selectively update the apps you want to update or even access your music.
    Questions:
    1. Does anyone know why the Apps and iTunes apps disappeared? (I'm not the only one complaining about this.)
    2. Does anyone know how to get them back without having to effectively erase your phone and start over?
    3. Does anyone know how to get iTunes on the computer to recognize your iiphone when the itunes app disappeared off it?
    Thank you.
    DD

    Hi Dahveed,
Thank you again for the advice. But, rebooting did not help.
In the end I was forced to upgrade.
I am relieved to say that this upgrade went very smoothly compared to other upgrades.
I did not have to re-download apps and they appear to be in their normal folders - except a new app page 2 (after the primary page) appeared containing only the missing apps. This was not there before.
Answer to the disappearing Apple App Store and iTunes Dilemma:
The answer to this problem unfortunately appears to be to upgrade the system.
In my experience the Apps (which presumably are removed to force the user into an upgrade) then re-appear.
On the positive side, at least on this occasion, it did not turn out to be a nightmare make work project.

  • Most of the music has disappeared from my iPhone!

For no apparent reason about 80% of the music has disappeared from my iPhone, and I am traveling so most of those songs live on my home hard drive and are inaccessible to me. How and why does that happen, and how do I fix it? iPhone 5, iOS 8.0.2. I did absolutely nothing other than plug my phone in to charge it prior to this happening.

I posted a similar issue.  My new iPhone 6 with iOS 8.0.2 only partially syncs my music library.  Even bought the 128GB to ensure no issues.  Apple Care could not help.

  • Hi, just updated hubby's iPhone 4 and all of his music has disappeared from the iPhone and from the iTunes library! He does have music still stored on his iPod, but can't get it from the library on his iPod back to phone or itunes. technophobe help pls!

and all of his music has disappeared from the iPhone and from the iTunes library! Luckily he does have music still stored on his iPod, but I can't get it from the library on his iPod back to the phone or to itunes. Please help, but technophobe so put it in simple english please!

Sounds like the music you had on your phone was not the same music on his computer. The iPhone/iPod touch is not designed to be a storage device. When you sync with a computer that doesn't have your music, it deletes your music from your phone.
Was this music you purchased from iTunes? if so, and you are in the US, tap on itunes app, tap updates, tap purchased and tap on the cloud icon to get each song back. If you're not int he us, get iOS5 update later this week and do the same.
But you need to move your itunes library to his computer. Create a user account on his macbook pro for you. From your external drive backup, load your itunes library on it. Then sync as usual! (Don't tell me you don't have a backup for your computer!)

  • Help!  iTunes has completely disappeared off my iPhone 4s, yes the program, not just the app, and all my music has gone!  How can I get this back?  Thanks!!

Help!  iTunes has completely disappeared off my iPhone 4s.  Yes the Program, not just the app!  All my music has just vanished!  How do I get this back!!
(p.s. I do suspect a deletion has occurred courtesy of my 4 year old nephew, some other stuff has gone too, but beats me how he deleted a whole program!!!)

  • TS1702 My purchased Draw Something App has disappeared from my iPhone, how do I get it back and will I have lost my points and current game?

I have been using my draw something app for about a year and a half and suddenly it has disappeared from my iPhone.  What do i do now? I had loads of points and was up to about 30 on my latest game so if I download the app again will I go back to the start.

Does a spotlight search on the device indicate the app is installed?
Is the app selected to sync in iTunes?

  • I downloaded Ringtone from iTunes into my iPhone 6 and set it as the default Ringtone. Worked well until I had to recharge my phone. Now disappearred from my iPhone but shows in Tones when phone sync'd. How do I get to show back as default Ringtone

I downloaded a Ringtone from iTunes into my iPhone 6 and set it as the default Ringtone.Worked well until I had to recharge my phone. The Ringtone has now disappeared from my iPhone and I'm left with just the Ringtones that come standard with iPhone 6. I sync'd my phone and it shows in the Tones folder. How do I get the Ringtone back as a default Ringtone in my iPhone 6. Quite frustrating!!

In iTunes, try signing out of your Apple ID & then back in: click on iTunes Store on the left sidebar of iTunes, click on your Apple ID on the top right, sign out, sign back in.  Then try to sync your purchased music to your phone again.

  • Can't (re)install Apps after the disappeared from my iPhone!

I have a problem with installing (or reinstalling) two applications on my iPhone. The two apps are Google Earth and Remote.
I have had the two apps installed and working perfectly fine. But someday Remote was missing from my springboard, and now today Google Earth has disappeared from my iPhone. But the apps are stilling in iTunes, and are listed as installed through App Store. So therefore I can't reinstall them from App Store, before deleting them first from iTunes.
But here is the actually problem. When I enter my iTunes account password the download of the app starts as it should and then continues to install it. But when the blue status/progress bar reaches the end or 100%. It freezes or stop to finish of the installation. It just keep saying “installing...” with the blue status bar filled out. It can continues to do this for as long as don't try to install a new app or preform any task on my iPhone! WEIRD! I really don't get it.
And the weird thing is that's only these two apps that does this. I can install new apps or reinstall old ones with no problem at all.
Does anyone here experienced the same problem, or do someone have a possible solution to this problem?
    Thanks.

A restore won't get rid of the problem!!! **** crappy ****.
Is there anyway to send this question too Apple? Or do i have to spend the next hours on the phone with Apple Support?!

  • How to transfer playlist from Iphone 6 to Macbook pro

I lost my playlist on itunes, recovered from backup but playlist came back empty or missing songs. I have them on my iphone. How can I transfer them to my itunes on my mac? I am on Maverick and Itunes 12.

I have also meet this annoying issue a few days ago, and I google on the internet to search how to how to transfer playlist from iPhone to iTunes, and finally find the answer, I hope  that can help you.
Connect the iPhone and select it in iTunes. Click the gray disclosure triangle the left of the iPhone name in iTunes. Select the playlist you want on the iPhone then right click - Export.... Save it as .xml file on the desktop. Then iTunes menu File > Library > Import playlist and select the .xml file you saved on the desktop.
Besides, if you don't want to use this way to transfer playlists, you can try iPhone Transfer, this is a convenient software which can help you a lot in transferring playlists. Hope you can solve this problem finally.

  • HT1386 Where do you drag and drop playlists onto iphone in new itunes

Where do you drag and drop playlists onto iphone in new itunes

I don't blame this person whatsoever for making the assumption that the iPod portion of his phone would work similarily, if not the same, as the iPod.
But it does work the same as the iPod. As with an iPod, you can sync all songs and playlists, or selected playlists, or you can manually manage music and videos. You can also select sync only checked songs and videos under the Summary tab and uncheck the songs in your iTunes library that you don't want transferred to your iPhone. This can be used with syncing selected playlists - if you want to remove a song from your iPhone that is in a selected playlist without removing the song from the playlist in iTunes, you uncheck the song in the playlist in iTunes followed by a sync. There is no difference with an iPod in this regard except for the iPhone not supporting disk mode.
In order to manually manage music and videos with an iPod, you must select this under the Summary tab for the iPod sync preferences, and the same for the iPhone.
And if you resent his rant, why respond and waste your volunteer time on this post?
I can waste my time anyway I see fit. If you don't like it, don't respond.
And not everyone can afford to replace this type of investment on a whim.
    Copied from the OP's post.
Don't tell me it's clicking on the boxes next to the songs in the Library page, *because that's when I will start asking for my money back...*
Or the iPhone can be sold to someone else with the proceeds used to purchase a different phone. I haven't read any reports about someone having trouble selling their iPhone used at a good price even if damaged.

  • Anyone know why uploads contacts disappear from the iPhone 5? Half of my number is suddenly gone, and this happens over and over again? Kata-*******-stroff! Grateful for answers?

    IPHONE 5
Anyone know why uploads contacts disappear from the iPhone 5?
Half of my number is suddenly gone, and this happens over and over again?
    Kata-*******-stroff! Grateful for answers?

do you sync your contacts with an application in your computer? or use iCloud?
I can't tell you why the contacts disappear but you can get them back without much hassle by syncing through iTunes with your computer.
do you regularly make backups?  if so, you can restore your iPhone using the backups and get your contacts back in your iPhone.
It is strange that half of your contacts are gone over and over again.  Do you have Groups that are unchecked in your iPhone?  If so, the contacts in those groups will not appear in your contacts list but they are in your iPhone and be recovered by re-checking the group name.

  • The mic icon disappeared on my iPhone 4 keyboard how do I get it back

The mic icon disappeared on my iPhone 4 keyboard how do I get it back?

Should be Siri microphone. Go to Settings>>General>>Siri and turn Siri on.
But in your signature says you have iPhone 4, right? Just iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 have Siri (just talking about iPhones, ok?! I know that iPad and iPods also have this).
