Disappearing RSS feeds

My RSS feed folder keeps appearing and disappearing for no particular reason. I recently had six weeks' stability of viewing the feeds on my MacBook Air while abroad. When I returned home I noticed that the RSS folder on my iMac was missing. As soon as MobileMe synchronised the folder also disappeared from the Air's Mail application. I can see no reason for this and it is very annoying. Anyone have a solution?

I have the same issue, not only was it a pain in the katookus to upgrade (Horrorshow really, though I learned a lot), But now I have NO RSS feeds what(so)ever, regardless. I receive the "Mach Error-308" in Safari, Mail app shows me the RSS folder etc but otherwise stares back at me with a blank expression like my dog. I've checked and rechecked the RSS preference in Safari but that don't do squat. I thought it may be the fact that I'm trying to squeeze out more from this old laptop than it could handle, but it sounds like folks with the latest and greatest are tripping over this Leopard's tail.
Is there anything that can be done, short of reverting to 10.4, to get our RSS feeds back? I don't care which program I read them on, though I do believe RSS in mail is unnecessary and cluttersome.

  • The Amazing Disappearing RSS Feeds

I opened Mail, and the RSS text-icon was no longer present. I was initially quite shocked & upset, as I spent quite some time transfering dozens off RSS feeds from Vienna to Mail. I quit & reopened Mail, and no luck. I then clicked 'Add RSS Feeds', and then 'cancel', and walla, the RSS text-icon reappeared automagically.

Please always post the URLs of the Store page and the feed when you have a question. For reference, your feed is at
    http://www.japanesebaseball.com/services/jbw-podcasts.jsp
and the Store page is at
    http://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/japan-baseball-weekly/id443149184
Looking at the Store page, the image appears there perfectly well. On subscribing there is no image associated with the episodes because you haven't embedded an image in the files - please see this page for clarification:

  • RSS feeds have disappeared after Mavericks update

After updating to mavericks, my rss feeds in mail have disappeared?? Not sure why, hoping someone could shed some light on this for me........ thanks

RSS feeds disappeared in Mountain Lion (10.8). If you want RSS feeds, you'll need to buy an application from the App Store.

  • RSS Feed Screensaver disappeared after Office upgrade

I have been using the RSS Feed Screensaver but it disappeared, along with other screen saver options, after I upgraded Office this week.
Does anyone know how to get it back?
    Thanks,

If you go into System Preferences and under Personal there should be a link to Desktop & Screensaver. Under the Screensaver tab choose the RSS Visualizer screensaver. Then click on the Options button under the preview.
This is where you ensure that the RSS feed URL is correct so if anything is wrong you should be able to fix it here.

  • RSS feeds disappear in Apple Mail after I sync my computers

When I sync the RSS feeds in Apple Mail on my computer they disappear.
I am trying to sync my two computers so they both have the RSS feeds in Apple Mail and they keep disappearing after I sync using my .Mac account.
Everything else I sync in Apple Mail seems to be syncing fine just the RSS feeds.
    Thanks

I've been having the same problem. I was hoping today's 10.5.3 update would help, but it's doing it again. I've tried deleting the com.apple.PubSubAgent.plist as suggested in some other threads addressing the same problem. But this fix is only temporary. When my mail syncs, my feeds disappear again.

  • RSS feeds, how to get them? Used to find the mark onsites, marks disappeared, existing rss feeds disappearing ? Why ?

Firefox 8 on XP. have some feeds in bookmarks toolbar, Mozill and BBC Weather have ceased to work. Used find websites hard the orange mark in website title bar, no longer appears to show on any sites. So can't lock into rss feeds.

Try to create new bookmarks by visiting the feed location of not working feeds.
Remove the current Latest Headlines feed.<br />
You can visit this website to create a new feed:

  • Problem with RSS feeds in AppleMail

If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it. I have several RSS feeds that come in through AppleMail. Every so often, it stops receiving all of the feeds (I get an explanation point next to the the RSS header). After a day or so, it will start receiving feeds again. I have no problem getting e-mails... just my RSS feeds. Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks!

I have just experienced the same problem with RSS feeds through AppleMail. A couple of days ago (just after I had upgraded to Aperture 3 - not sure if that's relevant) the exclamation mark appeared next to all the Mailboxes for my RSS feeds, and has not disappeared. If I click on the exclamation mark I get the message "there was an error updating the RSS feed 'Apple Hot News'. The RSS feed is temporarily unavailable because an internal error occurred".
I have tried shutting down, and deleting the RSS plist - with no effect.
Other details - the problem exists on a MacBook Pro, running Sno (v 10.6.2 - all updates applied) and Apple Mail v4.2. I can send / receive regular email. I also have an iMac (also running Sno 10.6.2 and Apple Mail v4.2) - RSS feeds work fine on this machine. Both machines use the same wireless broadband router.
    Grateful for any help. Thanks

  • RSS Feed query

I have been using podbean as a podcast host for some time but we have recently cancelled our service with them and are moving to libsyn.
I have already posed the question to podbean: "If our data is deleted after 30 days as we were advised previously, will our podcasts that were hosted with podbean be no longer visible in iTunes?"
Their response is as follows: "As far as we know, since you submitted your feed: http://username.podbean.com/feed to iTunes, you podcasts will not be updated in iTunes as your feed expired. However, we are not in charge of iTunes, you may contact iTunes to check it out."
The response doesn't make much sense to me.
I need to know the following:
    1) If the feed has 'expired', are the podcasts going to just drop off iTunes at any given moment? Podbean advised previously that they delete all your data 30 days after cancellation.
    2) If the podcasts don't get lost/dropped by iTunes, are we able to use libsyn to continue adding new podcasts to our 'channel' as normal without any interruptions, or is it really hard to somehow combine RSS feeds and make a 'continuation' so to speak...?
    Thanks

The iTunes Store page is at
    https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/c3-church-indooroopilly/id540243287
and the feed is at http://c3churchindro.podbean.com/feed/
    C3 Church Ipswich
The iTunes Store page is at
    https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/c3-church-ipswich/id545903684
    and the feed is athttp://c3ipswitch.podbean.com/feed/
however there is no feed at this address, so it cannot be subscribed to and the Store cannot update.
    You have four options.
    1. Add the 'itunes:new-feed-url' tags to the Podbean feeds as described here. This is the best solution, but as I say I have a feeling that Podbean won't allow you access to the feed to modify it, or provide a method itself of adding the tag. In any case you can't do this with the Ipswitch podcast unless you restore the feed.
    2. Email podcasts 'at' apple.com and ask them to move the Store to using the new feeds. In each case give them the Store page URL, and the URLs of both feeds (so you will obviously need to know the Libsyn feed URL).
    3. Ask to have the podcasts removed from the Store. I quote:
    Log in to iTS.
    Find and select your podcast.
    Click Report a Concern.
Select Remove a Podcast from the Choose a Reason menu.
Explain why you want the podcast removed.
In most cases, we will remove the podcast from iTS, especially if we find that the podcast is no longer available at the feed URL.
Despite what they say there, don't be surprised if they don't do it but tell you to use the 'itunes:block' tag - which again I doubt you can add to the feed, so that's not a lot of help. It probably depends on who answers and how co-operative they feel.
    4. Close both Podbean accounts so that the feeds disappear and do nothing. Eventually the podcasts will be removed from the Store but it might take quite a long time. You would have to re-submit the Libsyn feeds as new podcasts, and you would have to change the titles, if only slightly.

  • Video podcast with multiple RSS feeds

We have a new video podcast at LetsKnit2gether.com and we have three RSS feeds for our show, each with a different video file format. We’re using WordPress with PodPress to create the RSS and then we manually cut and paste the others. We have two problems:
One – We can’t seem to get the multiple feeds to show up correctly in iTunes (the desktop software, not the music store – we haven’t submitted to the iTunes store yet.) I can paste one RSS URL in the Advanced/Subscribe to Podcast window and subscribe to the feed but I can’t subscribe to any of the other two. When I try they appear for a second and then disappear. Tried in both iTunes 6 and 7 on PC and Mac. I’m guessing there is something in the iTunes software that prevents similar feeds. I read as much on the Apple iTunes tutorial page but our feeds are following the rules as far as I can tell. (www.feedvalidator.org says all is well too.) Once you subscribe to one you can’t change your mind and subscribe to one of the others ever again, ever! ...even if you delete the one you subscribed to first.
There are several video podcasts that I’ve subscribed to via iTunes software that have multiple feeds (GeekBrief, Rocketboom, 88slide, etc.) so I know this can be done, I just have to figure out what’s causing iTunes to choke.
Anybody have any clue what’s going on?
Two – We’re doing cut and paste on the WordPress generated feed to make the multiple xml files. This is going to become a bigger and bigger task as time goes on and we generate more shows. I’d like to just push a button and generate all three feeds from the blog. Is there a plug-in for Wordpress or stand alone software that will do this? I don’t mind paying for software if it saves us time.
    Thanks!

  • Can't see RSS feeds in Mail

I've subscribed to a couple of RSS feeds in Mail (multiple times because it doesn't seem to be taking) and I'm not seeing anything about RSS in my sidebar. Is there a trick to getting them to show up and being able to read them within Mail?

OK... Back again - this is driving me crazy. I see SEVERAL posts of people having the same issues as me, but I do not see any real answers (in posts, Apple support, or just plain Google).
I do have more information though:
I now have the issue that RSS feeds either stop updating, update and bring back several old posts that I have already deleted (and cleared from the deleted messages), and RSS links disappearing and RSS showing an error (~) next to it, and finally the RSS section disappearing altogether.
I have read some suggestions to go into Finder and delete the SubPubAgent.plist file under the user directory (done that, now it has not reappeared), and to Quit the SubPubAgent process in Activity Monitor, and restart Mail (Have done this SEVERAL times, and it seems to "change" things, but doesn't fix anything). The one thing here that seems to throw up a red flag is that the SubPubAgent process shows 3 threads, and when things are going ok, it looks like it has a Virtual Memory usage of ~30MB - when things go haywire the Virtual Memory shoots up to just under 600MB, at which point I will have received the several old posts, feeds stop updating, or all the feeds just go away in the middle of my session. This 600MB Virtual Memory amount seems to be a limit that something dealing with RSS feeds is "trying" to exceed, and Mail cant handle it. But no matter how many times I try to delete messages to bring things down, they just keep coming back the next time I restart Mail.
ANY suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any support, and take care!
    Jeff

  • RSS feed missing after Mountain Lion upgrade?

    Hi everyone,
I appreciate your time and assistance here in addressing why my RSS feed from my Mail application has disappeared. After I upgraded to Mountain Lion last night, all of my RSS feeds are gone. Furthermore, I cannot add RSS feeds. Nor can I even search for "rss" in the help searchbar inside the application itself.
It seems as if the RSS component of the application itself has been erased. I have heard that perhaps the feature has been removed. If this is the case, can someone please articulate why Apple throught this was a good idea and perhaps how I can implement a new RSS component into mail?
Thanks again so very much, I'm looking forward to your responses.

Here are some RSS readers. Vienna was well rated in the articles I looked at:
    RSS Reader – Long List
    RSS Reader – Top 9
    RSS Reader - Vienna
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Office 365 update eats RSS feeds and my Calendar

    I have a long ramble:http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/1048057-outlook-calendar-disappeared-overnight-office-updates-maybe-coincidence
where I am trying to work out what happened and then saw this:http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_365hp-outlook/outlook-rss-feed-problem-after-last-office-365/073b5c31-3015-4386-a6d8-36e7747d92f0
which leads me to believe it isn't me going made, trigger finger...., but a borked Office update.
This topic first appeared in the Spiceworks Community

    However, when I uploaded
only the blog folder and its contents, it did not
    appear on my site.
I see the last entry as May 10, so that's the old one right?
My guess would be that you did not actually upload the new blog folder. Depending on how you have things organized, you may still have your old one there somewhere, and you may have selected it by mistake with your ftp program.
I would double-check the Blog folder on your drive to make sure it has been updated, and that this is the folder you have tried to upload.
Does publishing to the folder in itself change the
entire structure so that the whole site has to be
    FTP'ed up again?
    No.

  • ITunes isn't picking up my latest podcast episode, though it's showing up in the RSS feed.

I had to delete the latest blog post on my site with my most recent podcast episode because something was wrong with the audio file. I deleted the entire blog post and the episode disappeared from iTunes--all good so far.
When I re-posted everything (blog post title was slightly different, but the filename for the linked .mp3 file was the same), it never showed up in iTunes (24 hours later at the moment), although it's showing up in the RSS feed.
Any ideas why the new episode isn't showing up in iTunes?
    This is me (us): http://itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/love-this-movie-hate-this-film/id393761573
The latest episode should be "730 Days Later: Anniversary Special" from this blog post: http://lovethismoviehatethisfilm.wordpress.com/2012/05/30/730-days-later-anniver sary-special/
    Thanks!

The latest episode does not have have an 'enclosure' tag containing the URL of an mp3 or other media file, so iTunes will not show the episode.
There is an mp3 file linked to in the web page, and in the 'content:encoded' tag, which iTunes does not read, but though the other episodes are OK you have evidently missed out a step in WordPress.I can't advise on that, but whatever you did before to get the file into the feed is what you need to do here.

  • Where did my RSS feeds go?

I've already noticed a number of people compaining about the sudden disappearance of their RSS feeds from Mail/Safari, but I have yet to see anyone answer those concerns on where we can find that data to import into another app.  I had 50+ feeds before my Mavericks upgrade that I've followed over the course of the last two years.  Many of those I can't even remember where I found them, but I still followed them for updates.  Is there any chance that data is intact somewhere that I can recover it?

Disregard.  Found another post that addresses this.
