Disappointed in available ringtones

Of all the music I've downloaded off of iTunes in the past 3 years, there are exactly THREE that I can make into ringtones. I've just spent an hour searching for other options and not one thing I wanted was available. I'm mainly looking at jazz, classical and opera.
How could Night in Tunisia not have made Apple's list? Or the Triumphal March from Aida? Or maybe a few of Bartok's Roumanian dances? Not everyone who has an iPhone is 16!
Someone mentioned 3rd party software that might allow me to make my own. What is it? How does it work?

I'm in the exact same boat. I love classical music. I wouldn't want any other music as ringtones. I was so excited at the thought of having 30 seconds of the 1st movement of Beethoven's 6th Symphony, the 1st of Mozart's Symphony No. 40, or the 4th of Mozart's Symphony No. 41, or perhaps some Dvorak, Tchaikovsky, or Schubert. I have NO options in my classical library. It's a big bummer. But, hopefully, it will change.
I did make a great ring tone of the piano introduction to Tori Amos' "Pretty Good Year", which is my favorite song of hers, so that made me happy.
I absolutely will not have any vocal music as a ring tone, unless perhaps I choose some opera, if it ever becomes available.

  • Available Ringtones

So I'm searching through the itunes store looking for anything and can't find even one.
Does ANY song have the ringtone modification available? I mean the latest version of itunes says it can do it AND there is a column in the store with the bell to tell if you a song is available. Yet I still can't find one.

Although the software (iTunes 7.4) has been released, the custom ringtones feature itself will not be rolled out until some time this week.
You will know that custom ringtones are available when you start seeing those bell icons next to track names in the iTunes Music Store.
    For more details, visit http://www.apple.com/iphone/ringtones

I Have a ringtone on my PC in Real player and want to get it on to my iPhone 4S. Any ideas how I can do this please?
    thanks

Add it to your iTunes library into the Tones tab, then sync tones onto your iPhone. That is, if you don't have iOS 7, which seems to remove that capability.

  • 5230 not showing personal ringtones (not enough me...

    Hi
I already wrote this to Nokia support but did not get an answer.
I have a 5230 with the latest SW 40.x.  55 Mbyte free phone ram and over 1 GByte on the sd-card.
I have 3 (yes, three!) personal ringtones on the sd-card. One (1,5 MByte) is used as the standard ringtone, another one (20 KByte) for incoming SMS. They both work. Now I made a third one (225 KByte) and wanted to assign this one to a contact. When opening the list of the available ringtones the phone complains something like "Not enough memory to show all ringtones. Showing only ringtones of the write-protected memory. At first it shows only the internal ringtones, along with two videos (Brache.mp4 and whoop.mp4). When I quit the list and directly open it again, it also shows the personal ringtones I have copied to the phone memory. But as the phone memory is not that big, I want to save the personal ringtones on the sd-card.
I don't understand why there is a "memory error" as there are 55 MByte free on the phone.
    Any idea?
    Regards
    AF

    I have the same problem.

  • Download a purchased ringtone.

I just purchased a ringtone from Verizon.  How do I download it to my phone?

You need to long press the attachment to save it to your device. Then using the My Files application already installed on your phone, move the file to the ringtones folder on the internal memory space. Once the file is in the ringtones folder, the phone will automatically add it to the list of available ringtones.

  • HT201272 i reset my iphone, is there any way to get ringtones back that i purchased. They are not showing up under my ringtones section anymore. thanks, kelly

I reset my iphone 4s, is there any way to get ringtones back that I purchased? They are not showing up under my available ringtones anymore

They are linked to your account, but they are also tied to the country that they were bought in - you won't be able to potentially redownload them unless you move back to the US and have a US billing address on your account (you have to be in a country to use its store, including redownloading past purchases).
Have you not got a backup copy of all of your downloads/library that you can copy them back from ? Even if you hadn't moved countries any item could be removed from the store at any time by the rights-holders (you are only guaranteed one download of any item), you should be keeping and maintaining a backup copy.

  • Set ringtone/sms tone

Shouldn't being able to set a song as a ringtone or sms tone be a feature on this phone (the same way you can set a picture as a wallpaper)?
Will this be included in future iOS updates? It's such an obvious feature!
    Thank you.

You can create a custom ringtone manually with iTunes on your computer for a song or sound file that does not include DRM protection, and there are a number of 3rd party utilities that provide for this with some being free. Apple has a free ringtone maker app called Ringer available via their new computer app store for the Mac. A ringtone must be less than 40 or 30 seconds in length. The Ringer app allows for choosing the segment of the selected song to be used as the ringtone and listening to the chosen segment before creating the chosen segment as a ringtone which is then placed as an available ringtone with Ringtones under Library in the iTunes source list along with being available as a custom ringtone to select under the Ringtones tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. The feee Ringer app and those like it can be used with a song or sound file that does not include DRM protection only.
There is no option to create a custom tone to be used as an SMS/MMS tone - not at the present time anyway. Since this is a user to user help forum only, no one here has any idea if this option will be included with a future iOS update and if so, when.

  • Purchased Ringtone from VZ Store is ringtone name .DM file

I purchased a ringtone from the VZ Store website, it got texted to my phone and I was able to save what it said was <ringtone name>.mp3  But there is no such ringtone in my list of available ringtones, and no such file on my phone.  However, there is a file called <ringtone name>.DM  How do I get the ringtone I purchased show up as an available ringtone?  What is a DM file?  Why does it say it is playing and saving an MP3 file when it isn't?

@mcclurkans  Thanks for posting. In order to determine the best way to resolve your issue, please PM your number and I will contact you for troubleshooting.  Thanks.

  • Best Way to Set Up iPhone on New MacBook

I just purchased a brand new black MacBook!!!
What is the best way to get my iPhone and all it's info on my new Mac?
I currently have everything in my iTunes on a PC laptop.
    TIA

Welcome to a new world. There will be a learning curve with some aspects but once you get past this you probably won't look back. One thing is not having constant virus, adware and spyware concerns which is a big one. When Apple came out with iWork 08 which includes Pages (word processor that is compatible with Word), Numbers (which is compatible with Excel) and Keynote (which is compatible with PowerPoint) with all three being compatible in both directions - you can save documents with all 3 to be compatible with their Windows counterparts, I've been completely Microsoft free since that time.
I always tell my long suffering Windows using friends about the differences but what sums it up is this. I've always used a Windows PC at work and I get my work done but not once have I ever looked forward to turning on a Windows PC for anything. I always look forward to turning on my Mac even when work related and you will probably experience the same. You will really like iLife - using iPhoto to store all digital photos which is similar to iTunes for digital photos and with GarageBand you will be able to easily create your own custom ringtones with non-DRM protected music which an option to store the finished product in your iTunes library automatically as an available ringtone to be transferred to your iPhone.
I think you will be very happy and satisfied with your decision and you won't need to be buying a new computer every 2-3 years or so unless you want to. I have a TiBook that I purchased in the spring of 2001 that is still going strong. I'm unable to install Leopard on this Mac but it is running Tiger without missing a beat.

  • Lumia Icon - missing features and behavior

I replaced my Lumia 920 with the Icon yesterday.
A main software feature was not present.  The Lock Screen Timeout option for NEVER is missing on the Icon.  It was present on the 920.  Now the screen goes dark every 5 minutes.  Besides being fundamentally irritating, this is a problem while driving and other dangerous situations.
Also, sound files in the Ringtones directory do not appear in the available ringtones list.  I used .wma and .mp3 sound file formats.

Hi, jockey4her. Welcome to Nokia Support Discussions!
Have you configured your Lumia phone to connect to your corporate email? If yes, this is the reason why the option went away.
Also, this feature can vary depending of the chosen customization (operator variant) and the display technology. This means that all Lumia phones do not have the ‘Never’ option.

  • I just dowload your version but I can't go to facebook login. How can I do?

I just download your version but I can't go to facebook login. How can I do?

You must create a segment of the song as a ringtone which can't be done with music purchased from the iTunes Store or music purchased from the iTunes Store that includes DRM protection. Or you can purchase an available ringtone from the iTunes Store.

  • After iTunes/Yosemite updates, custom ringtones no longer available in Contacts on Mac but are on iPhone

After updating to Yosemite, my custom ringtones are no longer associated with particular contacts on my Mac. They seem to be in the right place in iTunes (ver. 12, updated at same time), and are still assigned to contacts on my iPhone (OS 8.1)--I haven't synched contacts, but I can't figure out how to get them re-assigned to specific contacts on the computer. when they're not there to be selected. These are a combination of purchased and GarageBand ringtones, and have been in use for years. Here's what I've tried:
In iTunes > Tones: Deselecting the ringtones, syncing (connected to mac). Then re-selcting and synching again. Ringtones are still visible on the iphone in Sounds, and in iTunes, but not available from within Contacts on the Mac.
Still in iTunes, used Get Info to identify where in Finder Tones are kept, which for me is: ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Tones/. Copied all of them, moved the originals to the trash. (Did not empty.) Restarted. Didn't make a difference. I put everything back.
I have had this problem once before with an OS upgrade or new iPhone, I'm not sure which, but the de-selecting/selecting had worked. Not this time, however. My mistake may have been to update to Yosemite before updating my phone to OS8.1, but that's the way it was presented to me, and I didn't realize it would matter.  My preference is to sync my contacts. But this became de-selected during the update. (Other prefs changed, also, for example--I prefer local backup, and it defaulted to iCloud.)

regarding the ringtones, i was able to set custom ringtones myself, but ever since i did that i get errors when synching my phone in the form that some app's dont work, have any of you had this problem?

  • I purchased a ringtone and an alert on my phone, but following syncing with my mac they're no longer available

I recently upgraded to an iphone 6. I have a macbook pro running Mavericks, and when I connected the phone to my mac for the first time following the purchase of the ringtone and alert tone in question, following the sync they no longer appear under settings on my phone.
Looking at iTunes, they show under "on my device" with a dotted circle next to them...yet they're not available to me when I try and select them on the phone itself.
Is there a setting I need to ensure is checked in order to sync them correctly and have them available to use on my phone? Surely, if purchased under my Apple ID and if the iTunes store account on my mac is linked to my Apple ID all should be well? The didnt cost v much but I object to having to pay again when Ive already done so!

The 'open' button only show after you've installed it on your phone, the cloud symbol imdicates that the app is only in the cloud - if you tap on the cloud icon it should download onto your phone.

  • ITunes store advertised Magical Mystery Tour ringtones if I bought the album, so I did.  No ringtones are now available or with the album.  Is this false advertising?

iTunes store advertised Magical Mystery Tour ringtones if I bought the album, so I did.  No ringtones are now available or with the album.  Is this false advertising?

Been having the same problems all week. And am got a generic, not-at-all-helpful response from my initial inquiry with support, then absolutely no response to my follow-up requests. There seem to be a fair number of people posting this problem, so not sure why we're being ignored.
Was able to eventually download the episodes manually via the 'purchased' link, but it's about 10 more steps than normal.
Also noticed that itunes isn't recognizing my purchases at all, not just season passes. If I go to a page of a show where I buy episodes individually, it doesn't show which episodes I have previously bought like it used to.

  • Ringtones function not available on my iTunes

I do not have ringtone functions on my iTunes, I've updated to latest versions, completely uninstalled everything apple or iTune related on my computer, and redownloaded, and still can't get the functions! Flatmates version has right click - create ringtone, or click store tab then scroll down create ringtone, mine does not! Can anyone help me!
    Thanks millsy80

At this time, ringtones are only available in the US through Itunes.
