Disappointed with supp

I got an X-fi Fatalty ExtremeGamer card for Father's Day, and had no trouble installing it in my dual-boot (XP Pro and Vista Business) system. I downloaded the 2.5 drivers for Vista, and all was well.
However, I recently got an aftermarket cooling solution for my EVGA 8800GTS card, and the fan was flat against the X-Fi, so I swapped PCI ports with my wireless card, which is very tiny, giving the fan more room to blow out air.
XP handled this change just fine. Vista reinstalled the wireless driver without a problem, but wouldn't install the X-fi. I'd get the error: The class installer has denied the request to install or upgrade this device."
So, I uninstalled all of my Creative software in Vista, deleted the generic Multimedia Audio Device from the Device Manager, and rebooted. Next I reinstalled the 2.5 X-Fi Vista drivers, but they didn't work (no error, just...didn't install). So, I repeated the above steps, and instead, browsed for a suitable driver, and I come to find that the X-fi driver still exists on my system as I can choose it from a list of available drivers! I tried to install that, but got the "class installer" message. At this point, I suspect that the uninstallers aren't really doing their jobs, so I email support detailing the above.
The response I got from support was apologetic and suggested that I cannot use the CD that came with my X-fi because it's for XP only, and that I might like to order a CD with Vista drivers. Meanwhile, I might also like to purchase a Fatalty gaming headset. If support could be of any further assistance, I may reply to the email.
Now....*maybe* I wasn't clear enough about my issue, but I've initiated a tech support issue. I don't want to be marketed to at that point, I want tech support. And, really, if I don't have any sound, what good is the headset?!
How about a little more tech support and a little less salesmanship from the tech support staff?

You appear to be misunderstanding the concept of these forums.
This is a user only forum provided by Apple so that other users can help out with problems that iPod owners are experiencing. No one from Apple will reply to your post. Bad mouthing them will just get your posting priveliges rescinded.
Posting the same question across 6 different forums is not the way to get your post answered and they will just be removed by the Moderators.
As for contacting Apple, you say " I have browsed the whole support section of this iPOD and there is no section for contacting the apple".
Well with respect, you don't appear to have browsed very far because right at the bottom of this very page is a link labelled "Contact Us", and if you click on it, you will see how to do that.
Now to your problem. Does anything from this link help?

    Hello,
You are correct, Blue tooth low engergy, BTLE.(only) devices are not backward compatible with Classic bluetooth and cannot connect.
However the Apple 4S and above have Bluetooth 4.0 support.. Hardware wise it has bothClassic Bluetooth, like the 3GS, as well as Bluetooth Low Energy.  There is no good reason why your 4s cannot communicate to your Sony in-dash player using the Classic bluetooth that resides in the 4S.
I know that this does not answer the why it does not work, but it should work. Do you have to somehow re-pair the new phone up to the player?  Not  knowing the model of the Sony it is hard to investigate.
And I hate to ask but are you sure that the Bluetooth radio is on in the phone?

It would be nice if you told others the steps you've tried and/or how you used to have your setup.
Anyway have you tried tapping MORE this will then bring you to
the selection-list of Audiobooks, Genres, Compilations & Composers.
Selecting Genres gives you a list of all your music split into genres which was set within the Music downloaded via iTunes or uploaded from CD or which you may have set yourself.
Then you just select the Genre you want:
If certent songs are not correctly gategorised you may need to go into iTunes and reselect via Get-info
    >Info>Genre and change it there. That way you should end up with all songs of Jazz or other in 1 place.

  • Really disappointed with the Macbook pro

    Hi all,
I purchased a Macbook pro in the middle of January 2011 with some inheritance money. I went for the cheapest one - was going to go for the white macbook like my partner but thought it would be worth the extra money to upgrade to the pro. It was the first time i had made the move from PC to Mac, but was fairly familiar with the systems having owned an ipod touch for a while and my partner also having a macbook.
4 months on...and i have to say I am really really disappointed with my Macbook pro and certainly not worth over £1000 i paid for it. This is mainly because:
i find that after a while of watching movies (15 - 20 mins), the video starts to "stutter" and the mouse jumps when i try to move it. I thought this was only the case on flash-based websites (like Youtube - although there is no problem on my partners basic macbook) so installed click2flash. I have since come to realise that it also happens whilst watching DVDs etc. I also thought it may be when the battery is low, but it happens even when it is plugged in. I cant understand how it happens on mine but not my partners even though my Pro is supposed to be a high spec (isnt it???)
I use Garageband and often record myself by mic input over the top of backing tracks that i import into the program. I have to record with no effects on my voice to begin with whatsoever , nor the backing track, and have to minimise the garageband window to the dock as when it is open and scrolling, i get the "Part of the project was not played. This project has too many tracks, effects, or notes to be played in real-time." error.
The other day, i noticed my macbook pro would not burn CD-Rs (both music Cds and MP3s) and later realised that i could burn anything up to 6 or so tracks (about 20-25 minutes worth of audio). After trawling the forums, trying slower burn speeds, different brands of CD-R and lens cleaning cds (which froze in my macbook) I still have a faulty disc drive. I have now discovered that the end tracks of some audio cds i have will not play so is obviously something wrong with the drive.
I'm very frustrated and can't help but wonder if maybe i should have just got a £500 windows laptop instead!
Any help and feedback would be much appreciated. Are Apple Support good at dealing with stuff like this? Am i best calling and discussing over the phone or taking it in to a Genius bar? I have also ran all the latest software updates.
    Thanks!
    Tom

    >the video starts to "stutter" and the mouse jumps when i try to move it.
That's the fault of the video format you are viewing.  It probably caches itself to the hard disk, and the sudden motion sensor gets triggered by the hard drive, if you give it any innertia.  You could create a RAM Disk with any of a number of solutions you can Google.
And DVD drives don't like being bounced around.   See what I have to say about CD failure below too.   Anything can cause a disc to get unbalanced, and not play back right.   I would not attempt to play DVDs while the machine is in motion, as you can damage the DVD drive of any machine that is.
Garageband has its own forum here: https://discussions.apple.com/community/ilife/garageband where someone can tell you if there is a setting you missed to improve the recordings.
CD Burning is a menace throughout the industry because a lot of media is not very high quality.  See my FAQ*:

  • Big Disappointment with iMac Intel (Late 2006) and Apple ProCare.

I've been a Mac user, Mac enthusiast, and Mac advocate for over 15 years. I've owned multiple Macs. One of my latest acquisitions was an Intel iMac in October 2006.
A few weeks ago, the iMac started freezing and shutting down intermittently. After days of online discussions trying to figure out the problem, I finally ran out of patience, and took the iMac to my local Apple Store on 7/23/07.
Two days later, I was told that the Logic Board needed to be replaced. It's been two weeks, and every time I contact the Apple Store, I am told that they are still waiting for the part.
Meanwhile I am left without the main computer in my house, where I store all my documents, music, photos and videos. In addition, I have a ProCare membership, and even purchased the Extended 3-year warranty. In this age of instant communication and express delivery, I cannot understand why it would take two weeks to get a part from Apple.
I am very disappointed with the Apple Care for a company with such a high reputation for service.
What are my rights as a consumer? How long do I have to wait before they offer me a replacement. How do I go about requesting a replacement?

"The question still remains: How long am I going to be in repair mode before the Apple store decides to offer a replacement?"
    Hello Herold Merisier!
The answer is that since each case may be different, there is no real set policy in this regard, with decision making and customer satisfaction in the hands of managers.
I'm surprised to hear that there is any difficulty at all getting that logic board. I just don't believe that there is any shortage, and it does not take two weeks to get one there, unless no one cares about you, which would be an unacceptable attitude. There must be something else at play in this situation.
I would guess that due to an inability to handle the work in-Store, the repair of your iMac has been handed over to an AASP, either to be performed at the AASP or somewhere on the Store premises.
Due to the disruption of the iPhone events, the repair of your iMac might have dropped off the radar screen of the Apple Store's Manager, and also of the Manager of the AASP. The problem may be an overworked AASP (not your fault), with some lower level employee there trying to pass the buck back to the Store through their lower level employees, and then on to you.
If such is the case, the job of Managers and Assistant Managers is to be aware of such things and manage them, therefore your circumstance is extremely disappointing. The first thing to do is not to try and lay blame, but make certain that the Store Manager is personally aware of your situation, and (unless you know it's already been done) to ask that all your paperwork details be verified - that your warranty and AppleCare are actually registered and in effect for your iMac, that your ProCare is recognized as being on the record, and that your iMac's repair is not accidentally misplaced, but will now be given Priority. In doing that, someone might discover the cause of your delay.
I would guess that the Manager of your Apple Store is also not aware of your exact situation, as it almost sounds as if the Manager is on vacation, or something very much worse:(
Considering the iMac product line and the age and needs of your iMac, the cost to Apple and the Manager of the Apple Store to fully satisfy you in this case will be absolutely negligible. If it's possible for you to speak to the Store Manager today or tomorrow, I'd be surprised if your iMac, or a replacement, isn't in your hands by Wednesday at the latest.
If you are unable to speak to the actual Store Manager, and if the Assistant Manager to whom you then speak is unable or unwilling to resolve this for you within 24 hours, you should call AppleCare's toll free number and ask to speak to an AppleCare Manager about your lack of service problem and what the bottleneck might possibly be.

  • Very Disappointing With BT Lack Of Support !!!

    Hello Everyone
I would like to know how long a reported line fault takes BT to send out an engineer? As at the present time i have no dialling tone on my phone line to which i have now been unable to use my phone for over 14 days. As my phone connection is not working properly this is also restricting my broadband (ADSL 2 Up To 24mb ) Connection down to just 23kb/s which it now struggles to load most webpages. This is the third time i have had my phone line go dead in the last 24 months but have never waited this long for an engineer to come out !! I'm very disappointed with BT Lack Of Customer Support !! And i have already contacted your support team through your online email service as i'm unable to make any phone calls (Including 999 Emergency Calls If Needed) due to the problem. And so far nothing has been done by BT to solve this problem !!

Thank you for your reply. My connection is so bad i'm unable to get the webpage of your link to load so i cannot use the page to submit the problem !! It has taken me a number of days just to get this page to load & i supposed to be on super fast ADSL 2 this is a joke i'm not even getting the old 56k dial up speed !! My phone has today just reconnected it'self with a dialing tone It is now extremely crackly you can bearly hear the person that calls which states BT has done nothing to fix the fault again I have already contacted them 3 times already I will try phoning them again tomorrow & this will be there last chance before i either close the account & go with a mobile phone service package or transfer my BT account to a different phone provider to see if someone else out there in the UK can actually send out an engineer to fix the fault !! I have never recieved such poor service ever before so if i have no choice but to leave BT then i will NEVER return in the future  !!

  • Disappointed with product introduction

I am new to FrameMaker.  Based on its popularity and others' comments, I'm sure it is a fascinating, feature-packed program that can do a lot for me in my technical writing.  However, I am disappointed with Adobe's lack of introduction to the product.  Any product should come with material that tells me what is special about it and who is meant to use it.  It should also have sample work to show what can be done with the product.  Instead, Adobe begins with a Getting Started with FrameMaker that introduces the user interface and screen basics, which are not yet of concern at this introductory stage.  Note also that there is a section called "What's new in FrameMaker 9", clearly oriented to past users, but totally ignoring the need of new users to learn about the essence of FrameMaker.
I hope the folks at Adobe are listening and will provide some introductory material.  I would be most thankful for it.

I agree that it's hard to find good getting started training materials in the FrameMaker package that you buy. Some versions of FrameMaker were shipped with a training disk, or with training materials on the main disk. I'm not sure if recent versions do.
Recently some Adobe products have come with a 30-day free subscription to Lynda.com online training. Sometimes there's something in the package that tells you about these goodies, and other times you'll get email that tells you about them. You probably have to register your software at Adobe.com. You'll need to create an Adobe user account (free) if you don't have one. The adobe.com site isn't easy to find your way around. On the home page, type register in the search box at the top right, click Product Registration, and the registration log-in page appears. You can create an account if you need to.
Search Google for terms like "adobe.tv framemaker tutorial," "free online video training framemaker," and "framemaker training resources" without quotes for some good links. These searches include content from the official adobe.com site as well as others.
Forum participants are users who volunteer to help others in the community, as they've been helped - passing a torch. You're always welcome to post questions here. It's most helpful to would-be helpers if you state the subject of your question clearly, one question or problem per message thread. And, provide your exact version of FrameMaker; it's the version number (like 9.1) and the build number (pxxx) displayed with Help > About FrameMaker.
And, you can help others who struggle to find good introductory material in the package by posting a formal request at https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform.

  • Disappointed with my windows phone!!(lumia 620)

I bought a new lumia 620 as a back up to my android(htc one x+)..but I am very disappointed with some of these glitches..
    1. No notification centre..it's really a pain!
    2. Can't pay via SIM card to purchase an app..
    3. Can't play high mp4, mkv, flv videos though I think the snapdragon s4 is capable to do it..is Nokia waiting for a developer to put up such an app at the store?!!
    4. Limited file download size...!!! It's worst...I got an unlimited data plan and don't really have to care..why Microsoft has to protect me!! Instead they should turn it to a feature by allowing the user to decide the restriction..for example: if u have a 1 GB data plan you should be able to set a restriction which would protect you when your overall usage exceeds 1 GB! I feel as if windows is trying to follow APPLE blindly..why make it so complicated instead of user friendly!!
    5. My handset does crash and restarts at least once a day..
    6. Battery drains out too quickly..something which is not expected from Nokia
    7. Very few apps..most of them are **bleep**..if not they are too costly..I even feel Microsoft should reduce the price of app hosting
    8. Whenever I share via Bluetooth..my phone hangs for sure and there is no option other than removing my battery and restarting..
    9. If any unsupported file format is downloaded I don't know where is it stored..and eats up my memory...
I am even using APPLE IPOD with which I share a better experience than my lumia...
I am sure to ditch this useless paper weight within a month if no improvements appear..
Sorry if my language is rough but it's my frustration with lumia..and I am fed up..expecting a good update...
And these are what I know is all consumers want..Nokia and Microsoft should think about consumers satisfaction above all!!!
    Thanks
    Solved!

Paying through your mobile account for apps is the responsibilty of your network provider to support this feature for Windows Phone, so you need to take your complaint to them.

  • Disappointed with "features" not in Numbers

I just bought iWork and am really disappointed with the shortage of "features" in Numbers. Why don't we get simple icons such as cut, copy, paste, file save, and print? Why must we always use keystrokes or go to a menu when a simple icon on the toolbar would save time and work? Also, there is no "select print area" option so if you want to print just part of a spreadsheet you have to hide all the rows or columns for the rest of the sheet. These are basic features that those of us who have used Excel have become accustomed to. Apple added all kinds of nice features to Numbers that should make it a great software package but the absence of simple features that make every day life easier is very perplexing. I think it is a poorly designed package and hope they will soon add some of these features. But given that cut/copy/paste icons are not available on other Apple software I suspect there is some irrational reasoning behind their actions.

I was reading the Document a little more and I think I found the quote that I am going to paste into alot of responses to people complaining about how Numbers doesn't do -- insert thing it doesn't do here--
    Avoid Feature Cascade
If you are developing a simple application, it can be very tempting to add features that aren’t wholly relevant to the original intent of the program. This feature cascade can lead to a bloated interface that is slow and difficult to use because of its complexity. Try to stick to the original intent of your program and include only features that are relevant to the main workflow.
The best products aren’t the ones with the most features. The best products are those whose features are tightly integrated with the solutions they provide, making them the most usable.
    Apply the 80 Percent Solution
During the design process, if you discover problems with your product design, you might consider applying the 80 percent solution—that is, designing your software to meet the needs of at least 80 percent of your users. This type of design typically favors simpler, more elegant approaches to problems.
If you try to design for the 20 percent of your target audience who are power users, your design may not be usable by the other 80 percent of users. Even though that smaller group of power users is likely to have good ideas for features, the majority of your user base may not think in the same way. Involving a broad range of users in your design process can help you find the 80 percent solution.
I think it explains it better than I ever have...

I am soooo disappointed with the apple customer service at the local store in Tampa......every time they give u an appointment and make people wait for hours......there was some cosmetic problems with the screen of my Mac book pro....they replaced it but the computer would not turn on....and btw when I went to pick up my computer the representative handover my computer to another guy without checking his id who was there to pick up his phone.......then I had to take it back second time this time they messed up my iWork...I took it back but they couldn't retrieve my history of purchase of iWork...and then when I installed the iWork at home...none of the applications is working.... .I will have to take is back fourth time.....I loved apple products but may be not anymore.......

Other than what Shotist007's remarks (which solves nothing) your experience is not common. First I would speak to the store manager to get things rectified for you. If that doesn't work out then I would contact AppleCare and speak to a customer service representative and complain via that venue.

Maybe the problem is not your MB Air......
    Try these:
Make sure bluetooth is turned off if you're not using it.
Set your screen brightness to 4 bars.
See what's loading in your login items.  Delete the ones you don't need.
Open Activity Monitor - under All Processes see what's using most of your CPU's resources.
Highlight the ones with the highest %CPU and hit quit process.
Remember that when Apple says that your battery should last 7 hours, they tested it just browsing the web and not have anything open in the background and screen is set at 50% brightness.

  • Disappointed with 10g JDeveloper preview version

I consistently use and recommend Oracle products to my co-workers. But I am disappointed with the latest JDeveloper, thanks to many bugs. I could not find basic items like remove from project menu item. The files I open are not getting added to the project. And the continuing lack of decent support for PL/SQL. If Oracle can't support PL/SQL, in its IDE that is hard to believe. This forces me to use 2 IDEs. One for Java and another one for PL/SQL. Hope it will get better in the production release.

All files from a folder are automatically added to a project, it is automatically recompiled with a build command. The file can be "invisible". To see a new file in the navigator, use the refresh button.
There should be several changes to this behaviour:
    1) refresh is quite slow on a big project. It should be possible to select a package and refresh only the files inside the folder
    2) When a file is opened, it should be automatically added into the navigator of the current project.
    3) To remove a file from a project, it seems there are only 2 solutions:
3a) Use a different hierarchy tree for each project (ie: locate each project source in a different folder) and carefully remove the files you don't need. Huge pain with versioning and check out module. You have to check out each file individually.
3b) refactoring. Move the file in a new folder and exclude that "subfolder" in the project content (first page in the project properties).
In the long term this refactoring could be a good thing. In the short term it is a major pain because most projects use intertwined packages.
    Some examples:
    1) I use only one hierarchy tree for several projects. I have to include much more libraries in my projects to be able to compile. For example, I have a swing application. In a package used by this swing application, one class does an import of some j2ee stuff.
I never use this class in the swing application. I have to include all the j2ee libs to compile my project.
    2) I have a factory constructor interface dealing with java.sql.DataSource.
I have several implementations depending on the target jdbc driver (classes12.jar ojdbc14.jar,mysql-connector-java-2.0.14-bin.jar,...). Each implementation is put in the same folder:
    /mycompany/mypackage/MyDataSourceOracle14.java
    /mycompany/mypackage/MyDataSourceOracle12.java
    /mycompany/mypackage/MyDataSourceMySql.java
The implementation with classes12.jar is incompatible with the one with ojdbc14.jar.
With JDev 10g preview, there is just no way to rebuild my project. I had to refactor and use subfolders:
    /mycompany/mypackage/Oracle14/MyDataSourceOracle14.java
    /mycompany/mypackage/Oracle12/MyDataSourceOracle12.java
    /mycompany/mypackage/MySql/MyDataSourceMySql.java
