Disappointed with TCs wireless performance--help!
I have a 1TB Time Capsule which I believe has the same wireless part as the Airport Extreme and my wireless performance and range is surprisingly terrible. Is the Airport Extreme known to have a better wireless characteristic than the Time Capsule? Do you prefer it over the TC?
-When I use "N" only. I cannot connect just two rooms away with my MBP and my iPhone cannot use the signal...
-When I use the N (with B & G compatibility), the range is extended and I can use it in my other bedroom but videos streaming to my Apple TV (full DVD rips or EyeTV recordings) do not play reliably...
Also, I can only connect 3 ethernet devices to my TC... I would like to expand this. Should I use a different router and ethernet switch on the front line and use the TC for NAS an WAP (Wireless Access Point) only? What's your topology and what router do you recommend? I need about 5 ports.... also, if I'm using the TC or Airport as a WAP can I use the switch on that box in addition to the ones on the router?

The best wireless bandwidth performance available would be to operate the wireless in the 802.11n only (5 GHz) mode with both wide-channels enabled and with the radio channel set in the higher range (channels 149 -165 in the US).
I assume that you don't have the latest simultaneous dual-band version of the TC so in order to maintain that bandwidth, you would need a second AirPort, like an earlier 802.11g Extreme or Express to create a second wireless network for your non-"n" clients.
As you are already aware, the 5 GHz radio does not penetrate through walls as well as the lower frequency 2.4 GHz band nor has the distance.
The bottom line, for best HD (especially 1080p) streaming performance, you would need Gigabit Ethernet.

Disappointed with Mountain Lion Please Help?
Ever since i installed OS X Mountain Lion onto my Macbook White (Late 2011) my macbook has been running extremely slow at times my computer freezes and all apps become unresponsive, and i also have an 8GB ram installed, i have also installed the update though it is still slow.... so this is what apple is releasing now? **** software that makes customer experiances bad? wow apple wow.
I have a MACBook Pro since December 2011, and it was running perfect up until i installed Mountain Lion. It starts with the screen saver, most of the times i cannot type my password because it freezes. If i'm lucky and be able to log in after screen saver i get the Spinning beach ball (busy signal) and cannot perform any task unless i reboot. I did not have any problems with Lion and i think i did reboot 2-3 times since December, but with Mountain Lion i'm forced to reboot every day. Mountain Lion it's definitely worst than Windows.
What does Apple have to say abut this???? -

Hello everyone.
I use my phone while working out as well as listening to lectures which I take notes for.
I noticed with ios7 that the controls are HORRENDOUS when it comes to the music application. It seems that the gents who made ios7 really did put aesthetics over functionality, and it shows... badly.
The music controls are extremely difficult to use intuitively because the tap function (where you can tap on the bar's length to jump to that particular section of the song/lecture) has been completely removed, the scrubber is literally actionable only at the exact width (roughty 3-5 pixels?) if the line and everything seems too bunched together.
I was wondering if any of you felt the same way? Is there any way at all to get the functionality of the previous ios' music application back? I've looked into downgrading from ios7 to ios6 on my 5s but honestly it's just not possible at all.Yeah you're right. It's a shame, apple has done a great job with UX until now.
Downloading another music app is actually a great idea. Any suggestions? I've looked around but there's none that offer music scrolling in the lock screen. -
How to improve poor Wireless Performance?
In our Environment, there a 2504 WLC with 10 LAPs( Several 2602, several 1242), there are FLEXConnect Group with local switch and Local Authentication, but there are some clients connected to WiFi with poor wireless performance, their ping value is more 100ms, specially the audio quality is ver bad when there are Lync calls, Whehter you may give some suggestions?

Since loading Lion, I've experienced much more instability than Snow Leopard. In particular, Mail crashes with regularity, full-screen apps seem to run slower and show the beach ball more often for longer, etc. I love the features, but I'm disappointed with the performance. Any help coming from Apple? I've been sending them so many reports after crashes, that their file must be full!
Summoning max. courage, I did what you advised. Here is the result. What does this tell you? My Lion 7.2 (mid 2011 iMac) has several annoying glitches (which I have so far tolerated through gritted teeth) but none that have actually stopped me working.
BTW, I see several items involving CleanMyMac which I did not know I had. It is generally villified as a trouble-maker. Spotlight can't find an app. or a utility of that name. How can I get rid of what's there please? Just delete?

I'm really disappointed with new 5 update. No music, No photos, No videos, lost all emails. Anyone know how to get these all back? Yes, I have synced and synced and synced. Help
Hopefully it isn't too late for this but: before performing an update it is really best if you close all apps (double click the home button, click and hold on one of the apps that appears at the bottom of the phone until the red minus sign appears and then tap the minus sign until all apps are closed) and then turn the phone off by holding the standby button until the slider saying "slide to power off" appears and slide it to turn the phone off. Then turn the phone back on and hook it up to your computer to sync and perform the upgrade. This also helps if you do this before performing syncs too. I had problems with an iPod previously where it would fail to backup before sync most times, but have never had a problem with updates or syncs since I started performing this procedure. Unfortunately, your pre-update backup may have failed and the data in your apps might be gone, but you could try to restore your phone. If I remember correctly how to do this, you connect it to your computer and check for updates. It should say you're up to date, but have an option to restore the phone. If it does, I'd try that. It may also have a "restore from backup" option you could try.

Disappointed with IOS7, i had organized my music library as per the Genre and now im unable to hear all the songs of the same genre like in the earlier versions. The options of "all albums" and "all songs" are missing in this version of IOS. Help Please..
It would be nice if you told others the steps you've tried and/or how you used to have your setup.
Anyway have you tried tapping MORE this will then bring you to
the selection-list of Audiobooks, Genres, Compilations & Composers.
Selecting Genres gives you a list of all your music split into genres which was set within the Music downloaded via iTunes or uploaded from CD or which you may have set yourself.
Then you just select the Genre you want:
If certent songs are not correctly gategorised you may need to go into iTunes and reselect via Get-info
>Info>Genre and change it there. That way you should end up with all songs of Jazz or other in 1 place. -

You are posting in the "icloud on my mac" forum, but your profile mentions Windows. If using a mac, you need to have iphoto or aperture installed in order to receive new photos via photo stream. If using windows, try posting in the iCloud on a PC forum. You'll get better help there.

Airport no longer works with my MacBooks. Help an old lady get wireless again!
First, I have to tell you that I'm as dense as granite when it comes to technology, so please talk to me in the simple terms you'd use with a dazed higher primate. Assume that I know nothing.
My story: I have the world's oldest MacBook Pro and am also using a new MacBook Air. I had a new Airport base station that was working fine with the MacBook Pro until I moved two years ago. I know nothing was dropped or mishandled, because I moved the electronics myself. But when I set up stuff in the new house, with Airport in a spare room and using the laptop in my bedroom where I have little room for anything but me, the MacBook would no longer recogize the Airport.
I tried moving Airport into the same room, thinking there might be something wierd with the walls of the house, but still no dice.
So I've been wired to the Comcast modem ever since. I trip over cables so often, I can do it in the dark.
Things are getting complicated now, because I've added a printer/scanner. Since I can't use it wirelessly and don't wish to trip over the cable every time I stand up, I hardly ever use the thing. Also, I'm shopping for a new TV and have dreams of being able to connect it with the Mac for watching movies, etc. The thought of using more cables makes me sad.
BTW, I'm currently using a borrowed MacBook Air, circa 6 months ago. It doesn't recognize Airport either. Airport is currently sitting in its box, bored and depressed.
Since nothing I own is under warranty any longer, I'm looking for free advice here instead of paying Apple by the hour.
Two questions:
(1) the ****? How do I get wireless again?
(2) Is Airport interchangeable with other wireless modems, like the one Comcast offers me?When you connect your MacBook Pro to the Comcast modem using its Ethernet cable, you are establishing the same sort of connection with it that would be used by your AirPort sitting in the box. The modem does not care what is connected to it, but it can connect to only one device at a time. Most of them "remember" that device as long as it is powered up, and will refuse to communicate with anything else.
So the first thing to do is power down the modem. Unplug it. Then, connect your AirPort's WAN port to it (Extreme or Express, whichever one you have) and then power them both up. With any luck your MacBook Pro might just connect wirelessly like it used to in your last home.
If it does not, you probably need to reconfigure the AirPort Base Station again as if it were new. To do that, "hard reset" the AirPort Base Station by pressing its tiny reset button and holding it depressed long enough for its LED to flash rapidly. Then, the LED will glow solid amber for a moment or two, then it will begin to flash slowly. When that occurs select its network in your Mac's Wi-Fi menu. Its name will be "Apple Network nnnnnn" where nnnnnn = a code unique to your base station. Select it.
Then, launch AirPort Utility - it is in your Utilities folder - and it will detect that your AirPort base station has been reset. Click the Continue button, answer the questions, and it will reconfigure the AirPort to those settings. The questions should be self-explanatory. When you are finished you will be prompted to restart the AirPort.
The next step confuses people, because after restarting the AirPort Base Station the network name that you had been using to configure it immediately ceases to exist. AirPort Utility may as well just sit there forever so just quit AirPort Utility. You have to manually select the network you just created by selecting it in the Wi-Fi menu again.
If you run into problems and need more help, meaning you must communicate using the Internet again, just remember the first paragraph - power down the modem whenever you change what is connected to it. Make it a habit. -
I am using Photoshop CS5 on a new iMac with a wireless keyboard. I used to be able to hit F11 to perform a custom sharpening action but now the F11 key is the volume control key and I have tried everything to disable or switch the volume key. I have also tried assigning other function keys to initiate the action. Is there a simple solution to this? What am I missing?
Try unmounting the volume on your iMac using Disk Utility. Then mount it again. You may need to reboot the laptop or relaunch its Finder process (using the Force Quit window) after remounting the drive on your iMac. Remember that no process may be accessing any files on the drive you plan to unmount, or the unmount will fail. Unmounting and remounting an external drive on my iMac made it become visible on my MacBook Pro after it had disappeared.

Need Help setting up 2 wireless internet computers with 54g wireless router
I setup the 54g wireless router using the setup disk. It appears to have worked find and the first laptop has wireless internet. I am not familiar with setting up a totally wireless network so I am not sure if I did the rest right. I then setup the 54g wireless internet router on the 2nd computer. It appears to have loaded but will not connect to the internet. I looked at the linksys setup etc... for both computers and all is the same including the WPA key, IP address, and the rest. No differences noted. I have no idea why the 2nd computer does not have wireless internet access. It has wired access only. The 2nd computer shows the wireless network but won't connect to it. I click on it and hit refresh and nothing happens. I am at a loss as to what to do now.
With 2 wireless computers, must there be a main computer and a secondary computer? The 1st computer also doesn't have access to windows network setup for some reason. It tells me to go to the knowledge base at microsoft.com and look up 871122. No idea why the windows network setup is not working. It did work before I got a new cable service provider and modem. However, the windows network setup is working on the 2nd computer. Any help is appreciated.does the 2nd computer even need the router info loaded into it like the 1st computer or should it be enough that the wireless network was created on the 1st computer? In other words, would having the router info loaded in both computers cause the 2nd one to not connect? I have spent hours on this and I am very confused now.
My router connects fine to the cable modem. the 1st computer connects fine to the router and gets the wireless internet without a problem. Again, the 2nd computer shows the network name but won't connect to it. help please!! -
