Disappointing 610

I just bought a lumia 610 and disappointed.
My first shock was that it uses a mini SIM card, meaning I have to cut my 10 year-old card, which also means my three older phones will be no longer usable (if I did it). Yeah, I know what they say about future technology blah, blah...but most of the time that's just an excuse for selling newer products.
My second shock was to find that its bluetooth is not compatible with other phones, including the older Nokias. It's so ridiculous, how could it misses such a very important feature? We constantly make videos and recordings with our phones and we count on bluetooth to share them. What is in Nokia's mind?
Third shock is it lacks basic features. I bought Lumia because I thought it would be much like my PC (in terms of using MS Words) so I can write my ideas everywhere I go. But there's barely any writing tools there. There is no equalizer, no font changer, etc. that were available in older & cheaper Nokias. It's like microsoft made it in a week to catch up the deadline, and when people are questioning they said "Oh, don't worry, we are making a better one" (meaning, "keep buying from us!").
My biggest shock was Zune. I thought that after initial disappointment I could still go on with some apps to entertain myself. To my dismay, the games are just demos, and to use them it has to connect with internet. Lumia requires me to use Zune for file management. Why in the hell we have to use Zune? The answer is very clear: Lumia doesn't want anyone to download or share files for free. Installing Zune is one pain in the **bleep**, using it is another. I had to install..and re-install Zune for hours, and even after I could download some apps, I couldn't use them for no clear reason (I said again, it's a pain in the **bleep**).
There were times when I just want to throw this Lumia through the window. I want to return it and get back my money to buy another phone. I used to be a Nokia loyalist, but not anymore. Lumia is a disappointment. Next time you want to sell phones, make sure you it is usable.

I purchased a Lumia 610 recently. I have gone through all the comments in this discussion forum. From my experience the bottomine is Lumia is not a user-friendly product as earlier Nokia phones used to be. I had a purchased a Nokia 500 last year which is just awesome!
Be it bluetooth, PC connectivity, file transfer or any feature you name it, Nokia 500 is just excellent! Lumia certainly lacks in simple features. There are many explanations in this chain of discussions but as someone mentioned, an ordinary user will find it very difficult to use Lumia. Miscro SIM is not an issue because the service providers nowadays replace your normal SIM with a micro SIM free of cost. However, simply mentioning Micro SIM in the phone specifications will not help an ordinary user. The associated problems and the options to rectify it should also be mentioned in the specification. Everyone is not an expert.
I have found another problem. I have activated 3G services through my operator. But in video streaming or downloads, I am not able to see the speed which my Nokia 500 gives. Further, I am unable to know whether Lumia is using 3G or normal data connection.

And you misunderstand my 'bluetooth' point. What I did say is "LUMIA 610 HAS NO BLUETOOTH TO EXCHANGE FILES". Its bluetooth is only for connecting to its gadgets.
Bottom line, Lumia 610 sucks. If they want to make their products sold, better start to listen.

Thanks for confirming that. I'm disappointed - I have a video camera with a DV interface that I would not be able to use with a Touchsmart.
Seems like most of the current crop of All-In-One systems are coming without firewire these days. Is that interface dropping off the scene?

NVidia GT 610 Graphics Card - Code 12

I have installed my new NVidia GT 610 Graphics Card and installed the driver perfectly (BIOS is also up to date) but when I check the device manager (via the built in Integrated Graphics) it says:
This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system. (Code 12)
I tried disabling the Integrated Graphics and then restarting the system with the GT 610. I can hear the computer reach my log-in screen but I have no picture apart from a black screen and a solid white '-' in the top left corner. I tried to take it a step further by disabling the intergrated graphics directly from the BIOS but when I do that, when the pc starts up I get stuck on the Blue into screen that says "press escape for startup menu" which doesn't work at all, forcing me to turn if off.
I feel like I am so close to getting my new card to work but I can't figure out what to do from here. I have tried looking for a similar experience using the search function and one dude said he got his to work by disabling "many" "unnecessary" hardware things, but I am hesitant to do that without proper knowledge...
Please help! I will keep a close eye on this thread in the coming hours (currently 8:54pm here).
Edit: I have posted the exact same question on the GeForce forums.
Edit: Troubleshooting tells me that "Hardware changes might not have been detected".
Edit: Location - PCI Bus 1, device 0, function 0.

Actually you may find that you have more success with an AMD\ATI Radeon video card.
I have experienced that with some motherboards, specifically Pegatron motherboards.
The problem is that you are delving into the DIY gaming PC realm and trying to do it with a prebuilt desktop PC.
Upgrading a prebuilt PC does not always result in a success story. Don't even consider trying to install cutting edge gaming memory modules. That will be a definite disappointment for you.
You may get lucky with an AMD Radeon HD video card.
But...You might just run into the same frustrating scenario you are facing today. I wish I had better news to give you.

Nokia 610 auto rotate

Folks,
Noticed some discussions on auto rotate with 610 phone which cannot be switched on or off as needed.
This is most irritating at times, believe Nokia may be bringing out an upgrade which will enable users to turn the auto rotate on or off.
Anyone know when this upgrade will be coming out ?

Will persevere for the moment, hope I don't have to go out and buy another phone.

One year on MacBook Pro (almost) - disappointed

For Christmas last year, I was offered a 15 inch MacBook Pro. It was, by far, the best present I ever got.
Up until then, I was schlepping around a Dell Latitude. I had had it for six years and that Dell was a reliable little machine, even though it did not have half the cachet of a shiny, aluminum-encased MacBook Pro.
Since December of 2010, I have become an Apple user exclusively. I got an iPhone, and recently got an iPad.
But to me, the most important device in my mini-collection is the MacBook Pro. It is my professional computer, the one I use to write and communicate with.
Shortly after getting it as a present I purchased Office for Mac, the 2011 edition.
Few days after receiving the MacBook Pro, I experienced strange graphics jamming when using Facebook; the screen literally turned into Poltergeist.
I took it back to the Apple store in Tysons Corner, VA and got a new one. This was my first introduction to Apple Computers' great fallability. To discover such a fundamental flaw on a PC would be unheard of.
The problem no longer exists, except for the occasional graphic hiccup (recently, when I would scroll down a web page, stripes of the image would remain frozen in place and get spread over the entire screen like jam as I tried to scroll up and down).
My MacBook Pro often freezes. I see the beachball every other day.
Today I was performing a paste in Word and the application crashed altogether.
Safari has never worked. I start it up and the screen remains blank. I read somewhere in the forums that I can switch to a guest account and use it there. That does work, but to say that that is an impractical solution is an understatement (ie., user settings--passwords, cookies, bookmarks--aren't saved, so that's no good). Why can I not use Apple's Safari on an Apple computer is baffling to me and is very telling. It reveals something fundamentally flawed in the way Apple designs its products. Because if a flaw like this one can make it through their Quality Assurance workflow, guess what? That's an issue.
Another problem is that Mozila used to crash regularly until I turned off some of the browser's features. Now Mozila crashes only every once in a while.
After a year of using Mac, I do not feel secure about this product or this company. I feel like I have a device which is imperfect, a laptop that's fallible, that was assembled carelessly. I feel like the company that is behind the product is full of holes and lack maturity in the way they produce the devices which has made them so famous.
Although I would not go back to PC machines, I am greatly disappointed in Apple's MacBook Pro.
My Dell Latitude never gave me any problems whatsoever. That machine was rock-solid and chugged along, with loyalty.
It would be silly of me to try and convince you of buying a PC -- Macs are sexy and they're cool and that's what you want. But know that you're not getting a machine that's assembled with the same degree of professionalism as a Dell, an IBM or a SONY. Be aware that Macs are fallible machines and that under that beautiful and shiny exterior lies an imperfect core.

Sounds like you've been extremely unlucky. Why don't you make apple get you a new one again, if this machine is also flawed?? I have a mac pro and a macbook pro, and even though my mac pro went down today (hopefully something i'll manage to fix), i must say that that machine has been the most stable machine i've ever owned. It's basically been switched on non-stop for 5 1/2 years, the only times i've ever rebooted it has been after installing some software requiring a reboot, and it's always been rock-solid. I've only had my macbook for a year now, but so far it's also a winner. Only thing i dislike about it is the case-design, as it has a spot wich is extremely vulnerable to liquid damage. It's the opening between the screen and the rest of the case. However an opening is needed there for air-flow, but it could be designed in a smarter way.

Nokia you cheated me. I bought c6-00 14000 INR. But not worthy to what I paid. Due to this customer dissatisfaction you lost global market share. You strong in hardware but failed in os innovation. I don't known what is obstructing you from taking decision.
Now I afraid to buy your most high ends phone lumia 920 after I got bad and difficult experience by using nokia c6.
Already one of my friend has been facing glitches using lumia 610.
Correct your organization else you would loose your place in the market.

You can't really base your experience with the C6-00 and the 920. The two have completely different OS's. WP8 on the 920 is a great experience and I'm sure you'd like it if you gave it a try.

Lack of Availability is Disappointing

I don't know if this is so much and idea or suggestion as it is a complaint. I did not see a better area on the Verizon website to provide my disappointment though. I moved into my current residence about 10 years ago. My zip code is 11720. At that time, I was approached by a FIOS salesman who tried to sell me on home services. I asked if TV was an option, and was advised that it was not currently an option in my area, but that they expected its availability shortly. It is now 10 years later and FIOS TV is still not available in my area. Your company spends millions on advertising every year, but what good does that do you if your product is not available? I find it a bit ridiculous that I have been waiting a decade and FIOS TV is still not available in my area. In fact, it makes me truly question whether Verizon is the leader in the industry that it claims to be. And when I say waiting, I mean waiting, because once is becomes available I am going to switch in a second. So here is at least one customer that you could have had for the past 10 years, and maybe 20-30 more, but you will never see a dime of my money for the simple reason that you refuse to do what is necessary to bring FIOS TV into my area. Just doesn't seem like a good business move to me. I am very, very disappointed in your company!!

A couple of notes to help you on your quest:
1) These forums are for customer to customer help. Verizon reps sometimes escalate specific service issues to the customer service team, but other than that nobody at Verizon responds to feedback such as yours here.
2) Cable TV service is a political issue. Depending on where you live, local and/or state governments have the authority to grant franchises to provide cable TV (FiOS TV is a cable TV service, legally speaking). Verizon has lobbied some states to allow state wide franchising. As you can imagine, the incumbent cable TV companies fight very hard to keep Verizon out and have fought to block state wide franchising. Some existing franchises agreements may even be exclusive.
In short, I am certain that Verizon wants to provide TV service in all areas they've installed FiOS. If they haven't been granted the franchises, this is most likely due to the current franchises agreements. If this is really important to you, you'll need to dig into the local and or state process for cable TV franchising and find out why Verizon hasn't gotten one. Your local politicians may be able to offer some insight.

Disappointed by missing basic functionality

I recently started working with Muse, and got frustrated by the fact that there seemingly is no Show/Hide functionality.
Also, am I correct to say that there is no direct import for Mp3/4 media? If so, why not?
Lastly: if InDesign can have basic animation options, then surely it wouldn't be so hard to include it in Muse.
Muse works great, but I am quite disappointed by this lack of basic functionality.

Thanks for your response.Yes I agree with you - I put my expectations in the fact that Muse is developing fast.
However, what I'd regard as a very basic feature for any interactivity (show/hide), is missing. Instead of having abutton that can show or hide icons on a map, I now I have to create a duplicate of the same page that don't show them. So when a user click the button, another page first has to load!
Clumsy and stupid.

Disappointed with lack of responses from Adobe staff

Recently I've posted a few questions. In the meantime I've
resolved all problems by trial and error. Most problems have been
cause by not having complete documentation available.

Believe me when I say that I understand your frustration. I
just want to state for the record that what seems like our lack of
response or interest in this forum is not intentional.
The lack of timely responses is due mainly to the fact that
we have *lots* of things going on behind the scenes here. Some of
us read the forums in real-time, and chime in any spare moment we
have, and it's also frustrating for us to see folks struggling.
Some posts are easy to answer within a couple of minutes, and some
take hours to help folks figure out what's going on in their
pages/apps/site.
You bring up some very valid points, and I've forwarded them
on to the appropriate folks internally.
That said, it seems like most of your questions that have
gone unanswered revolve around validation widgets. I'll try to
answer your questions, and perhaps poke other who know more if I
can't figure it out.

Hugely disappointed with Apples lack of Support for iPhone 3G

I am so very disappointed in Apples lack of response or help regarding the OS4 and iphone 3G.
Originally a hugh support of Apple's philosophy and product, I find myself questioning their values and ulterior motives.
Currently, I have an iphone 3G 8GB. It worked like a dream until I installed the OS4. Like other forum members, my phone freezes, sputters, chokes and does all sorts of unusual oddities. I have gone to the Genius Bar at Apple only to be told that, it works fine for everyone else, excluding me and that basically, there is nothing that they can do about it.
I bring to their attention that on the actual Apple forum, there are others' like myself complaining of the same things! The response I get is that, people on here are not genuine and that you can't believe everything you read. Are they for real? The other responses that I get is to, reboot 3 to 4 times a day, restore, restore to factory, and to wait for the update of OS4.
But if OS4 is the culprit then how can it accommodate my iphone 3G?
Oh and the best response I get from the Apple store is, "if you are unhappy with your phone, you can upgrade to the iphone 4"!
Just recently, I did as told, and updated the OS4 on my phone.. and guess what!? It is worse off than it was previously. I just find it ironic that Apple refused to acknowledge the fact that this operating system (OS4) is rubbish for 3G users.

I can only agree with the above. My iPhone 16gb was fine and after my Wife my best friend to be honest. I've never had a more useful piece of i.t. kit and it's really made a difference to my lifestyle.
My wife's is still on 3.1.2 and comparing our two phones mine *****. My fault for not listening, but you sort of trust Apple until they let you down. OS4 was total crap, 4.0.1 still poor. It's barely faster and several thumbnail photos have gone from the camera roll. Listen to us Mr Jobs!!!
Your iPhone is not like normal phones. Your customers do not simply discard it for a new one, they may well buy a new version, but the old one will pass between family and friends and still be expected to function well many years hence. My current phone is earmarked for my son, my wife's for my daughter and so on as we renew our contracts. We EXPECT these things to work properly, and if you want loyal Apple customers to be retained you must support your older models fully.
A 10 year old with his Dad's old 3g used as an iPod, will be more likely to get a newer iPhone or iMac later on.

We've reached out to the Hotmail team and they've determined that this is a bug in their code. (It was masked by a timing issue in 3.5 that was fixed in 3.6.) We've worked with them to develop a fix but they may not have deployed it yet.

You are at the mercy of the content owners/copyright holders. They decide what the Apple can sell in each iTS.

The Bluetooth low energy protocol is not backward compatible with classic Bluetooth protocol. My iPhone 4s can not find my sonny in-dash player. However my iPhone 3GS does it. Very disappointed with this. Any idea how it can be fixed???

You are correct, Blue tooth low engergy, BTLE.(only) devices are not backward compatible with Classic bluetooth and cannot connect.
However the Apple 4S and above have Bluetooth 4.0 support.. Hardware wise it has bothClassic Bluetooth, like the 3GS, as well as Bluetooth Low Energy. There is no good reason why your 4s cannot communicate to your Sony in-dash player using the Classic bluetooth that resides in the 4S.
I know that this does not answer the why it does not work, but it should work. Do you have to somehow re-pair the new phone up to the player? Not knowing the model of the Sony it is hard to investigate.
And I hate to ask but are you sure that the Bluetooth radio is on in the phone?

A SEFAZ soltou a NT2011/005 para fazer algumas validações e uma delas é a 610: Rejeição: Total da NF difere do somatório dos Valores compõe o valor Total da NF, porém o processo que tenho aqui no cliente e uma nota de devolução, a empresa é uma distribuidora e a legislação veda o destaque do imposto na NFe de devolução, como nos casos de devolução de mercadoria com imposto retido por substituição tributária e devolução de mercadoria com IPI efetuado por não contribuinte do IPI.
Hoje como manda a legislação esses dois impostos estão saindo no campo dados adicionais da NF e creio que seja por isso que o SEFAZ esteja rejeitando a NF.
Alguém já passou por esse problema? Teriam alguma sugestão?

a rejeição 610 não é dada pelo SAP, mas pela SEFAZ.
Se vc a obteve, foi a SEFAZ que rejeitou sua nota.
O fato é que o processo é novo pra todos, tanto pras empresas quanto pro governo, e tem sido comum ter visto casos "esquecidos" pelo governo - nao me assustaria se é esse o caso, com as notas de devolucao de ICMS ST.
A recomendação é que o seu time fiscal entre em contato com a SEFAZ do estado em questão, para que a própria SEFAZ oriente como deve ser preenchida a nota.

Sorry, Apple has no approved method to downgrade the version of iOS on your iDevice. You can voice your displeasure with the iOS by leaving feedback at the appropriate subsection from the link below.
