Disc automatic eject

Hi,
I have a problem with my optical drive.
When I try insert any DVD or CD, its automatic eject.
How can I fix this problem ?
My macbook pro : 2,33 Ghz, Mac OSX 10.4.8
Thanks

Get a optical disk reader cleaner. If that doesn't fix it, then the reader is kaput and you should return it to Apple (or Apple Store) for service.

  • What can I do if a disc automatically ejects?

I'm trying to burn music to a CD but every disc I insert automatically ejects.

You don't want to change the player Region Code. If I remember correctly you can only change the Region Code three times and it sticks to the last Region Code you selected.
Does the DVD play in another player?

  • Disc automatically ejects on Mountain Lion

Hi, i recently upgraded my macbook pro 2011 version to OS Mountain Lion.
A few weeks back, i tried inserting dvds but it automaticall ejects without even running.
Today, i tried putting in the parallels 7 disc so that i could reinstall the software as it doesn't seem to be working
on mountain lion...and it was automatically ejected again.
What's wrong? Has this problem got to do with the OS? Parallels isnt working on mountain lion too!!!

For your parallels problem you will find the solution in small print here.
The drive ejecting DVD's is probably a problem with the hardware. Try to clean the drive.

  • My CD/DVD drive automatically ejects every disc I put in.

    Hi!
I have an Mac Book 15" - Late 2011 / OX 10.9.2  8 Gig RAM AND 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 Processor. My CD/DVD drive automatically ejects every disc I put in immediately. I can't figure out why it's doing this as till December 2013 it was doing fine? I had to reinstall OX and Maverics as my Laptop was lost and recovered and I had actioned erase all data.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

If you suspect it could be the latter, you may just have to replace the optical drive, or add an external one that supports Mac OS X utility booting, and not use possible rootkit CDs again.

  • Windows automatically ejects my OS X disc; unable to install drivers

I've just installed Windows XP using Boot Camp. I've successfully gotten through the installation and am able to start and run Windows. I'm at the part where I'm supposed to insert the OS X disc so that drivers can be installed. However, whenever I insert the disc, after several seconds it's automatically ejected.
The disc is a 10.5.4 retail copy. I've also tried using the Snow Leopard update disc, since I didn't know if that included the drivers, too, but that disc is also automatically ejected. I do not have access to the OS X disc that came with the computer, but 10.5.4 is newer than what came with this particular computer (a 15.4" MBP bought in Feb. 2008, about a month before the last revision of non-unibody laptops were rolled out).
I have successfully installed Windows XP (from the same Windows XP CD) on this same computer in the past, using, I'm very certain, the same 10.5.4 retail OS X disc to install the drivers. I'm not sure why it's not working this time, if it's a problem with the disc, the drive, or something else. I understand that Apple doesn't really provide a method to get those drivers other than installing them from the OS X disc. So I'm at a bit of a loss on how to proceed.
I do have the OS X disc and it is readable in OS X itself. Is it possible, perhaps, to copy the appropriate files from the disc, while in OS X, onto the Windows partition, so that I can reboot into Windows and update the drivers from the copied files rather than from the OS X disc? If so, what do I need to copy from the OS X disc?
Or is there some other workaround I should try first?

I too am having this issue. I originally installed Vista using Boot Camp and used the OSX install disc that came with my Macbook Pro to install the Apple drivers.
I just removed the partition last night and have now installed Windows 7 using boot camp. I can read the disc on my regular PC just fine - but Windows on my Mac keeps on ejecting the disc.
However, I have had huge problems with this Macbook disc drive. I think the disc drive is the sole reason that I would never purchase another mac. I hate it. It's noisy and unreliable. I constantly have to share disc drives off of other computers to run discs.

You are saying about the Apple USB SuperDrive
i had an ibuilt superdrive in MACBOOK PRO
The issuse i had raised about the inbuilt disc insert problem that it was not reading the disc, and automatically
ejecting the disc out. not the external superdrive.

  • ITunes Won't Recognize CD; Automatically Ejects

I am trying to import some new CDs. Admittedly, they are of a slightly different format (CD / DVD combo - DualDisc format). When I place the CD in the iMac, it attempts to read the CD, but ultimately just ejects the CD without reading it. Should I flip the disc over, the DVD side runs perfectly. Any thoughts on how to import the CDs? I thought I had imported CDs like this in the past, but it isn't working now.

I've too have a 2010 iMac which is having problems loading bought music CDs (they keep automatically ejecting). Following suggestions in this thread I successfully managed to mount the problem CDs by turning the iMac on its side so that the CD slot is facing upwards. Not exactly an elegant solution, but it worked.
Also, once the CD mounted, I could put the iMac back the right way up and iTunes happily read the CD.

  • Getting disc to eject while operating windows xp on my Imac

I have downloaded Windows XP on my Mac but I cannot get any disc to eject while in Windows. I have tried pushing the eject button on my Keyboard but nothing happens. Does anybody know how to get discs to eject while operating in Windows?

I am assuming that you have installed Windows successfully and that your EJECT KEY does not work.
    1. Go to MY COMPUTER on the DESKTOP
    2. Locate the CD Drive and HIGHLIGHT it.
    3. RIGHT CLICK and choose EJECT
If this works then you still have an issue. It leads me to think that your Screen and Keyboard Brightness Keys do not work either.
Upon successful installation of Windows, did you insert the Leopard installation disk (while in Windows) and let it automatically install all the Boot Camp drivers?

Have tried resetting the SMC, didn't work.
If I have to get a new drive, how much do they cost on an iMac and where do I get it fixed?
Very disappointed if we have to spend money to fix computer as we have not had this computer for a very long time and we bought a Mac because it was supposed to be better.

Have you done a PRAM reset, CMD+Option+p+r...

  • Automatically ejecting or unmounting a drive on shut down?

    Greetings,
Is there a way to write a script for automatically ejecting or unmounting a drive on shut down?
I have a couple of firewire external drives that need to be unmounted before I shut down the computer and sometimes I forget (running the risk of losing data).
Is it best to do it with Applescript or Automator?
    Thanks folks!
G5 1.8 GHz Dual   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   ATI Radeon X800 XT Mac Edition 256MB AGP

    I'm highly confused here.
Part of the clean shutdown process is to
unmount any mounted drives. Adding a logoutHook
script isn't going to change that - it would just do
manually what the OS would do automatically.
Now an unclean shutdown such as a kernel panic
or power outage isn't going to unmount your drives,
but you also don't get an opportunity to unmount the
    drives yourself.
What makes you say your drives aren't getting
    unmounted?
This may help with my question above.
I have WD drive, and this is what they recommend for me to do.

They want me to unmount the drive before I shut down.
Is there a way to write a script for automatically unmounting a drive on shut down? With a script?
    Thanks fo the replies!

  • ITunes automatically ejects iPod

I'm new to iPod/iTunes and I'm really really disappointed. I payed US$ 300 for my Nano (it is more expensive here in Brazil) but it is not working, thanks to iTunes.
My USB drive is really working well - I must say it before you ask it.
The problem is that as soon as I connect my iPod to my computer, iTunes opens by itself (without my permission. I've already tried to change it but *the program doesn't accept my settings*). And when iTunes is completely loaded, it automatically ejects my iPod. This is REALLY annoying me.
I've been searching on the internet for two nights and it seems that nobody has a solution for that.
    What should I do now?
PS: YES, I'm using the latest iTunes version, my Windows IS XP/SP2, I've already tried those 5R's thing.

I had already tried it and it didn't work, because, as I said, iTunes automatically ejects the iPod, so the changes that I try to make in its configurations are not accepted.

  • Ipod automatically ejects whenever connected to pc

    hi
i've recently purchased a new 5th gen ipod and had to update to latest version of itunes. whenever i connect the ipod to my computer it recognises it, but automatically ejects. i therefore can't get as far as accessing the ipod options in itunes.
any ideas on how to fix this?
    j

thanks for the help guys. i did previously try the 5 r's (which didn't help) as well as changing the drive name (which i couldn't do because the drive was removing itself from My Computer before i could rename it). but i did fix the problem if anyone is interested. i dont know why it was doing all of this, but after i clicked "enable disk use" under the itunes/ipod preferences the drive ejected itself only after i told it to eject itself. which, obviously, fixed the problem.

  • Nano Automatically Ejecting

Just got what I believe is a 6th gen Nano under the replacement program. I have songs stored on it and it has been sync'd. I have selected "manually manage music and videos" and the "enable disk use" is checked but grayed. When first plugged into my Mac with USB the nano shows up in "devices" in iTunes and as a device on my desk top, but when MacBook Pro goes into sleep mode the nano automatically ejects. I cannot get it to show in devices again unless I unplug the USB and re-attach it.  It will also not respond to "SYNC" when sync button clicked. I have tried pushing the sleep button and the nano will come out of black screen but still not show up in devices. I also have an iPod Touch and this is not happening with it.
    Is this normal behavior?
PS: How do you tell what generation this nano is?

    More information:
I plugged in my iPod Touch again and as always it automatically initiated "Sync" as soon as it was connected. ITunes does not Sync the Nano (6th gen) when it is plugged in, and as stated the Sync button also does not respond. The Nano did go through an initial Sync procedure when it was first connected to iTunes as a new device with no songs recorded on it from my iTunes library.
The other difference in the Touch and Nano is the Touch does not show up on my desk top as a device but the Nano does. Both of course are listed as devices in iTunes, until my Macbook goes into sleep mode then the Nano, as stated in my original post, automatically ejects.
And yet another difference is the Touch does not have an option to "Enable Disk Use" in the summary window, but the Nano does offer that choice.
Hope someone can confirm if this is normal behavior for Nano.
