Disc drive will not eject in Windows 7

I just upgraded from XP pro to Windows 7 home premium yesterday and it's all been working great save one little detail: my disc drive will not eject discs. I've tried the eject button (I'm on an aluminum macbook late 2008) as well as manually ejecting the discs from explorer. When I boot up in OSX I can eject discs fine. It's probably also important to note I'm using the bootcamp drivers that came with my 10.5.6 OSX installation disc, so I don't know if those are up to par for running Windows 7.
Any suggestions would be great

Hi,
I have the same problem with windows 7 not ejecting discs (with macbook pro late 2008 with latest Bootcamp drivers installed).
At the moment I can eject the dics only by putting windows 7 to sleep (closing the lid) and on wake the disc ejects by pressing the normal Eject key.
Hope apple (or MS ??) will fix this...

  • Optical disc drive will not open

    Hi there,
All of a sudden my disc drive will not open. Neither will it open when rebooting and ejecting it before windows has finished start-up. I've checked power cables etc. etc. I do see the drive in Windows Explorer, and there are no mentions of driver issues or whatsoever. Can anyone help?
    product: hp pavilion p7 1040nl
    operating system: windows 7
error message when trying to open drive in explorer (front button doesn't work): An error occurred while ejecting 'DVD/CD-RW drive'

Open Device manager, expand DVD/CD-rom drives
right click on your dvd drive and select "uninstall", then reboot your PC, windows will reinstall the device, see if it opens now.
If it still will not eject, take a small paper clip that has been straigtened out and slide it in the eject hole on the drawer front, see if it will open this way, doing this will check to see if it is jammed. If it opens with the paper clip and the drawer works smoothly then there is something wrong with the drive itself and will need replaced

  • Hp officejet pro 8610e driver will not install in windows 8.1

the Hp drivers will not install from disc or online download.

    Hi @aggie62,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that your HP Officejet pro 8610 driver will not install on Windows 8.1. I am happy to help!
    A few questions for starters:
What happens when you try to install the driver?
Do you see any error messages?
How is your printer connected? Wireless, Ethernet, or USB?
Are you able to make copies with your printer?
In the meantime, please try the following:
Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Clean boot the computer. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Disable any antivirus programs. How to Disable Antivirus in Windows 8?
Disable any firewall programs. Windows Firewall from start to finish.
Create a new user account. Managing User Accounts and Logins (Windows 8).
Re-install using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows .
Hope to hear from you soon!

  • Optical drive will not eject

My Satellite A205-S5814 optical drive will not eject when I press the eject button.
Before this problem started, the drive would eject, but sometimes a blank screen would immediately appear after the tray ejected and then the computer would restart itself and give me the option of restarting in safe mode.
Please let me know what may be wrong.
    Thanks.

Your machine is booting into a Windows partition.
Apple does not support Windows. They do provide "Boot camp" which allows a knowledgeable person to install XP in a drive partition on a Mac.
However "boot camp" still in "beta" status and some of the keyboard mapping is not the same as a Windows PC, because it's a Mac, not a PC.
Mac's come with Mac OS X standard, not Windows. The copy of Windows you got on the machine was likely put there for demonstration purposes, not for sale. If you know how to hack Windows, I'm sure you could bypass the admin password, that's a "store trick" to sell a product with a illegal copy of Windows.
All Mac's will open the c.d. tray if you reboot holding the mouse button down with a wired keyboard.
You can also reboot again holding "option key" to select a drive partition to boot from, there should be a Mac OS X and a Windows partition, however it's possible the Mac OS X partition was erased.
You can stick the Mac OS X installer disk in the c.d. tray, close it and reboot holding "c". It will boot off the disk. There you can select Disk Utility from the Installer menu and Erase w/Zero the internal hard drive. When finished Quit and install Mac OS X Tiger. Your "store copy" of Windows will be gone of course.
If your unfamiliar with Mac's, Mac OS X, "Boot Camp" with Windows, I suggest you have someone help you. Your in very deep too early in your learning curve.
You'll really need to learn Mac OS X first, then you can play around with "Boot-Camp" and a legal copy of XP in a drive partition.
With Mac OS X your machine will be very safe from internet threats, but when your in "Boot Camp" under XP, your just like any Windows PC, completely vulnerable.

  • My granddaughter put the Start Up Disk in the drive inadvertently and now the drive will not eject it or start up using the HD.  I have tried all of the suggestions for opening it that appear in the manual.  Help?

My granddaughter put the Start Up Disk in the drive inadvertently and now the drive will not eject it or start up using the HD.  I have tried all of the suggestions for opening it that appear in the manual.  Help?  It is her computer, a iMac G3 or G4 with superdrive, the one with the ball shaped base.   Thank you.

It's a tray loading drive, there should be a little hole next to it, just large enough for a paper clip.  Stick the end of the paper clip in it and the tray should open.

  • External hard drive will not eject

Since upgrading to ML my small "my passport" hard drive will not eject. First it gives me the message "the disk couldnt be ejected because Safari is using it and to close Safari and try again". (not sure why safari would be using it..) When I close safari then I get the message " the disk couldnt be eject because another program is using it"
My only option is to force eject each time.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
      1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
left mouse button until the disc ejects.
      2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
      3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
      4. Press COMMAND-E.
      5. If none of the above work try this: Open the Terminal application in
your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
            /usr/bin/drutil eject
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into Single-user Mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

  • DVD Drive Will Not Eject

The DVD Drive will not open with the keyboard eject button. The only way to open it is restart it and then put in appleoption+OF then type "eject cd" then type "Mac-boot" but there must be a simpler way to do this with out rebooting it every time you want to open the drive bay. The key board is brand new. I am using a IOgear Miniview III KVM switch. It works when you plug the keyboard in directly into the mac it works fine. Is there a KVM switch driver that is compatible with the Powermac G5 and a PC.

Open the Terminal application in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder and enter "drutil eject" without the quote marks. If you need to use this command often, it can be made into a double-clickable application. To do this, open the Script Editor in the /Applications/AppleScript/ folder, paste the following in:
    do shell script "drutil eject"
and save it as an application.

  • My CD/DVD drive will not eject disc

I have just recently purchased a new Macbook and I had the system for less then a few hours and there was already a problem with the system. The only thing that I have done to it is run the system updates and install the new Leopard OS. Upon completing the installation the disc would not eject from the drive. I have tried all the ways possible to eject it, but every time it makes three clicking noises as if it is trying to eject then the disc just reloads. I have even gone so far as to bring it in for service where they just shipped it to Apple to fix it. They claimed that the bottom of the case was bent and that Apple replaced it therefore fixing the problem. To my dismay when I brought the system back home the problem was still there. Apple wants me to ship it back to them, but I was hoping that there is some unseen solution to my problem, because I'm getting really feed up with this because I have owned this product for almost 3 weeks now and still have not been able to use it. So any help out there would be greatly appreciated.

  • My hard drive will not eject or allow me to do anything to it

Yesterday I got an old hard drive from 2007 working and began to transfer the files to a new hard drive.  About mid way through the transfer there was an error and the new hard drive ejected itself.  When I turned it on again it shows up but does not allow me to do anything to the drive.  It will not allow me to write to it, eject it, restore it, erase it and all of the files that were transfered do not show up in the finder but it does show that the space is occupied.  I tried restarting the computer with the drive plugged in, tried letting it sit for hours and tried relaunching Finder but nothing has worked yet, any advice?

I tried that and it did not work as well.  It said:
    Error Message
The disk “WDC WD16 00BEVE-11UYT0 Media” could not be unmounted.
Make sure that all applications and files are closed on this disk.
This is with nothing open other than the disk utility and the hard drive within a minute of the drive booting up.

  • My disc drive will not accept any discs, it immediately pushes them out, but there's nothing blocking it. How do I fix it?

I have a macbook pro that's about two years old and having the functioning disc drive I paid for would be awesome. The drive rejects any disc I try to put in, is there a way to fix it? Or would it be smarter/cheaper to just buy an external drive?
