Disc Error when downloading purchased music videos

Hi there,
I'm using the latest iTunes and have purchased 3 music videos. When I try to download them, I gett an error saying:
"There was an error download your purchased music. The disc could not be read from or written to"
Strange thing is, the disc is fine (an external Maxtor network drive), I can download normal music files (I've done this successfully since getting this message) so I'm stumped.
I've sent a mail to iTunes support, but I thought I'd see if anyone else has had this problem and can recommend a fix.
Cheers,
Pete

Hello Peter,
Check out the suggestions in this Apple Support article below:
"Disk could not be read from or written to"
Also, if your videos were only partially downloaded and you'd like to retrieve them, then you can go to "Advanced> check for purchases..." in iTunes, and see if that works.
I hope this helps!

  • Error when downloading purchased music - help? :S

    Hi there!
I've purchased music (read: I've been charged), but am having issues downloading it from the store into iTunes (on my computer)
The error reads: There was a problem downloading (x song). Then below in lighter type - "The file seems to be corrupted. To redownload the file, choose "Check for Purchases" from the Store Menu."
The kicker is - when I follow the instructions in the error, I get the same error...
Has anyone come across this and does anyone know how to fix it???

  • Error when playing purchased music

    Hi,
When I try to play music purchased from the iTunes Music store, I get an error. I'm first asked to login to my Apple account, which I do without problem, but I then get a -50 error and the music doesn't play.
The same music plays fine on another computer. I have less than 5 computers activated to play.
What should I do? The computer where I get the error is a first-generation black MacBook and it has all the latest software versions (including OS X 10.4.10 and iTunes 7.3).

  • "Cannot open" error when downloaded *purchased* movie from icloud?

This had happened multiple times and I cannot believe it hasn't been fixed when I see issues with rentals from years ago!  I fully downloaded a movie I purchased a year ago to my iPhone. It successfully downloaded, processed, etc. Shows the dot next to it as fully unwatched. Plenty of room on phone. Have watched movie on our Apple TV - no problem.
WHen I go to watch, annoying "cannot open" message. :-(
Do they seriously expect me to ONLY download movies to a computer with a hardwire connection and transfer them? I can't travel with an iMac desktop, obviously! What's the point of icloud then?!!!!! It's ridiculous!
ANY tricks to get this movie to play? Anyone have any luck in this situation?
    Thanks.

    Hi kfrau13,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you were not able to view the rented movie, you may want to report the issue with your purchase:

  • Videos Won't Play When Set as Music Videos

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I looked through 11 pages and no one had quite the same issue.
When iTunes purchased music videos are placed on my 4th gen Touch they work fine. They play under the music video category. But when I add videos purchased elsewhere or taken from youtube, they'll only play under the "movie" category.
When under music video, the screen starts to change as if it's going to play, and then it stops and goes back. Only if I re-categorize them as movies again will they finally play.
Can someone please tell me how to solve this?

    That isn't the problem.
All of my files are mp4, so they're what plays on the iPod. Those very files play correctly on my iPod classic. My daughter also has the very same 4th gen Touch that I have and she isn't having this problem. Regardless of where she gets her mp4 video, it plays in the music video category the way it's supposed to. The only difference is that her software is a grade lower than the 5.0.1 that I'm using.

  • I keep getting error code 1450 when I try to download a music video.

I keep getting error code 1450 when I try to download a music video. I've since downloaded other songs/videos, and I have the latest version of iTunes, so I don't think I need to uninstall itunes, but I can't download the video I bought.

If you recently installed or updated disc burning software it may be conflicting with iTunes.

  • Error (-50) When Trying To Download Purchased Music

    Hello -
I recently upgraded to iTunes 7.0.1. Since then, I cannot download purchased music. I get the following error message:
There was a problem downloading X (name of song). An unknown eror occurred (-50).
I have never had problems downloading purhcased music before. Is there a known bug/issue with 7.0.1?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Thansk -
    Julie

I am having the SAME PROBLEM and it's driving me NUTS! I couldn't find an answer here so I emailed iTunes support. Here is what they said:
The error you describe may be caused by the presence of web
acceleration or firewall software. While the iTunes Store is unable to provide
technical support, I can recommend that you either test your connection to
the iTunes Store without the presence of this software or configure
your system to allow access to the iTunes Store's address.
However, I'm not sure that is my problem because my computer is new, (I have a macbook), I haven't downloaded any kind of software other than software updates from apple, I use safari, and my roommate has no problem d-loading onto her computer. Also, the album I purchased comes with an interactive booklet and that downloads without a problem. So, I don't know. I just emailed them again and I'll respond to this thread if I get a solution. Otherwise, please let me know if you figure it out!

  • Help, i get the 'error downloading purchased music.' what do i do?

i can download music and podcast fine but when i try to purchase a tv show i get the error message "there was an error downloading purchased music. the disk could not be read from or written to" i went to the purchases command in the advanced menu several times with no luck. i have purchased three seperate shows and get the same message. i'm tired of wasting money and would like some help.
    thanks

Hmm... I've never seen a issue exactly like this before personally, but usually you get the "Disk Locked" error when installing iTUnes or adding anything, songs or videos to iTunes folder. go here and follow the instructions http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302398
You may have to uninstall/reinstall iTunes AND quicktime if this does not work. Uninstlling iTunes DOES NOT delete any music, playlist, ratings ect ect

  • Error when downloading Pixar Video

I purchased a Pixar Video (Geri's Game) and have been unable to download it. I get this error message "There was an error downloading your purchased music. The Disk could not be read from or written to." I have been sent through the wringer with ITunes support for 6 days. They won't refund me and they have not been able to fix the problem. I can still download music from the store with no problem. The video is still sitting in my download queue and every time I launch ITunes it sends me out to the store to download purchased music and then errors out with the same message. I have 200GB space on the drive where the music is stored and I have opened up the permissions on the ITunes folder to everyone full control. Help.

    hiya!
are you getting that during the download from the itunes Music Store?

  • Error -42018 Cannot Download Purchased Music from iTunes Store

I cannot download music, it says unknown error -42018 check network connection and try again. I can download videos just fine, but music. This has never done this before. I downloaded music before just fine. I turned off my firewall but no luck. Please help resolve!!!

    Hey everybody,
I also was experiencing the unknown error -42018 when attempting to download purchased music. Additionally, I was stuck in an endless authorization loop when attempting to play previously purchaed music. All this started when I installed the latest iTunes software 7.0.2.
I run windows XP Pro, and unlike the majority of users I actually set it up correctly with a dedicated administrator account, and regular user accounts instead of just running as admin all the time. For me, that was the cause of the problem.
The new version of iTunes software required FULL CONTROL privilages on the iTunes and iPod install directories for all user accounts that were using the program. (Previous versions worked fine, so this is a new thing.) Once I provided those permissions, iTunes worked correctly. Follow this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304040 for information on how to provide FULL CONTROL to every user account.
I hope you all find this helpful in solving your problem.
    Good Luck,
    Bill

  • Can't download purchased music to video iPod

I can't download purchased music and videos to my new 30GB video iPod.
When I try to copy videos or purchased I get an error "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close" and iTunes quits after I close the dialog.
I ran the iPod Updater 2006-01-10 and Restored my iPod. I can download mp3s and a video I created in QT Pro but not purchased music or videos.
I uninstalled all previous iPodSetup installations, iTunes, QuickTime, rebooted and deleted the iTunes prefs file at:
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC Info\SC Info.sidb
I reinstalled iPod Updater 2006-01-10 and iTunes 6.0.2 and rebooted.
    The problem remains.
