Disc installation fail

I pre order Snow Leopard through Amazon. A parent receive it and send to Chile, my country. When I try install, the this fail.
I went to Apple reseller, which confirmed that the disk is bad, but they don't change the disc because Apple haven't international warranty for the software. So, I can't Install Snow Leopard.
Who answers?
Sorry with my English, but my native language is spanish.

Did you try starting up from the DVD by holding down c when starting up?

  • Adobe Indesign CS5.5 Disc - Installer failed to initialize

I have been trying unsuccessfully to install my Adobe Indesign cs5.5 disc for the first time into my Dell Latitude E6400 laptop (Windows vista, intel core2 /duo - I meet all the system requirements). I keep getting the message "Installer failed to initialize. Please contact Adobe support."
I followed the indesign cs5 help suggestions at adobe.com and ran the Adobe Cs5 cleaner tool. This did not help. I also turned off my anti-virus to be sure.
Should I instead download the program from the internet and then enter my serial code? Is this my only option? Could you please give me some other suggestions.  Your help is greatly appreciated.
    David

    David:
I ran Adobe Support Adivsor toll, and the response was "Inspection could not identify any issues." I did not see any log files.
Just to confirm, you went to %APPDATA%\Local\Temp and found that there were a lot of files there, but there was not one called PDApp.log? Are you sure you have the right path?
If that's so, then the installer is failing really early. I suppose it's silly, but have you tried rebooting?
I find it doubtful that uninstalling Acrobat or Reader would help. Though I am slightly curious whether their Uninstallers launch. (For most Adobe products, the Uninstaller and the Installer are very similar, and they both do a bunch of checks and then pop up a window. For uninstallers, there is a chance to confirm before uninstalling. It would be interesting to know if the uninstallers fail to start the same way your InDesign installer has failed. But Acrobat is the product Least Like all the others. It's uninstaller might not behave this way, I'm not sure).
Still, we are getting down to weird or obscure problems. So it may be time to try solutions that are abnormal.
So, lacking anything better to do, assuming you have quadruple-checked for the above log file, why don't you go with your initial idea and try downloading the trial installer. And if it still doesn't work, sure, try uninstalling Acrobat first.

  • Brand new 10.6.3 snow leopard disc installation always fails on MacBook pro

So I ask, is the only thing left to do here to buy a new hard drive? I figured I would ask as I feel I have tried everything.
I have a 17 inch 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo MacBook pro with 4 gb ram and a 500 gb hitachi 7200 rpm hard drive that was installed in march of 2010. I was running osx snow leopard 10.6.3 with all updates with two partitions, a 450 gb for mac and 50 gb for bootcamp and windows 7. About 3 weeks ago, after downloading some programs from cnet, I started having problems.
I could not boot to the Mac side, but booting to windows was fine.  I would get hung on a blue screen with my cursor, but it never would go further. So I used
my snow leopard 10.6.3 disc to run disk utility, repaired disk and it completed the repair and partitions, always leaving a note saying, " updating boot (something) as needed.  Everything repaired and was corrected, but I still could not boot to Mac. Still hung on blue screen.  I reset the PRAM, still nothing, but still no reoccurring errors in disc repair.
So I purchased an external hd and backed up everything, since I never used time machine ( I know) and backed up all my data.  I erased and zero'd out everything on the Mac partition.  I then tried to reinstall 10.6.3 on the hard drive, and it seemed to fail repeatedly.  I would install, fail, reformat, repeat repeat over and over.  I was having trouble with the DVD drive taking the disc a few times, and noticed some very minor scratches on the disc, nothing major.  So, I decide it could be the disc, and went out to purchase one at best buy.  Came back, ready to go, took the disc the first time, and fails again and again. ( installation failed, please contact the software manufacturer )
One thing I noticed in disc utility is that it would always seem to hang up installation around 6.65 gb. So I called my free 90 day software support from apple, and they of course suggested I take it to a Mac genius... Haven't been there yet because of the proximity to my house. I then decided to backup the bootcamp side , which was working just fine, and erased that as well,  I repartitioned the drive, erased the disc and tried again and again and installation kept failing.
Other things I have done, took out 2gb ram and tried, nothing.  Also changed a number in terminal that was 12000' to 30000' a tip from another forum, that also failed.  I am at wits end here, and can't find anyone else with this problem.  Any other suggestions before i scrap the hd?
Thanks in advance for your advice,

DVD drive ? The software disc itself is brand new and boots fine

  • Remote disc installation of CS3 fails on disc 2 of 2

I'm using a Mac Book Pro to install Adobe Creative Suite 3 - Web Premium, onto my Macbook Air, using the remote disc feature in Mac OSX.
The first installation disc (applications) installs and then it asks for the second disc (content) to be loaded - I insert the disc and wait a few seconds before clicking OK to continue but the message won’t go away.
Eventually I have to press Cancel and the installation fails. Tried this a few times now and I need to know if this is an Adobe or Mac OSX issue. Would be nice if Adobe could give me a direct download link for the software but they don't appear to support previous versions of CS.

In case you are able to copy contents of disc 2 to your local drive, then try performing a silent install. Or just create a local copy of installer (following Step1 and Step2) and run Setup from there.

  • I purchased and downloaded Photoshop Elements 13, but the installer fails to initialise. How do I get it to work?

I have Photoshop Elements 10 and Premier Elements 10 installed on my PC. Both were installed from discs that I bought a few years ago. I recently purchased the upgrade (by download) for both applications to version 13. In accordance with the (scant) instructions received by email, I downloaded the four files required from the Adobe site. I subsequently ran the .exe files, which in turn created directories on my PC, including set-up.exe files for both applications. When I run the setup files, I get an error message stating that the installer failed to initialise. The error message advised me to download the Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem. That tool does not exist. I then sought assistance from the Abobe support site, initially using the hyperlink suggestions, which were of no use, then using the chat function. The operator kept trying to get me to do something with something called 'Creative Cloud'; which I am not familiar with, and do not use. He then instructed me to download and run a CS5 cleaner tool; however, none of the choices offered by that tool include my issue, or either Photoshop Elements or Premier Elements. I am reluctant to uninstall version 10 of the programs in case I end up losing the lot and therefore wasting even more money than the purchase price for this upgrade.
All I want to do is upgrade my two applications from version 10 to version 13. I have paid the requisite fee but it clearly does not work. I appear to have totally wasted my money. Can anyone please tell me how to get it to work? I do not want to have anything to do with the so-called ‘Creative Cloud’ as I have no idea what it is, and I do not want to lose what I already have (and have paid for previously).
I have tried for a few days to access the so-called 24/7 chat assistance but appeared to have been locked out as every time I try to access it, I get a message that the (24/7) chat is closed. Adobe has taken my money for a product that does not work, and also refuse to help me fix it.
I am very frustrated with a product I bought that does not work, and a 24/7 support service that clearly is not 24/7, and which refuses to assist me. Can anyone PLEASE tell me how to get this to work? Rod.

    Hi,
Can you please share the logs?
You can use the Adobe  Log Collector tool (Log Collector Tool) and share the corresponding zip file @ [email protected]

  • My hard disc has failed how can I download data from my ipod to a new hard  disc?

my hard disc has failed how do i transfer the data on my Ipod/Ipad to a new hard disc?

In addition to the comments above, when you create a new library with the media that you recover this will be treated as "new" for the device and iTunes may want to wipe it and start over, losing any personal data and settings. The following approach ought to help.
    You should be able to:
Backup the device to your iTunes installation
Transfer your purchases into a library authorized to your account
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer (same as above)
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

  • Snow Leopard (10.6.3) Installer Failed, MacBook Shuts off on boot

    Hi all,
So a friend of mine recently bought an OOTB Snow Leopard install Disc from Apple and attempted to install OSX 10.6.3 on his MacBook White (I can't remember exactly what version of OSX he was running before but I know it was 10.5.x). Some time into the Installation, the Installer fails with the screen "Install Failed" and under that it says "Mac OSX could not be installed on your computer" with a big yellow exclamation sign. Under that it says " The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance. Click Restart to restart your computer and try installing again."
However, when he restarted and tried to boot up, the computer shuts off after getting to the grey Apple screen with rotating gear. I am not sure why the install failed, but I suspect now it has corrupted the old version of OSX which resided on the hard drive, and is causing the startup to fail. I had him boot from the OSX 10.6 Installation media and run Disk Utility and try to Repair his hard drive (Macintosh HD), but the Repair fails and window pops up "Disk Utility stopped repairing 'Macintosh HD'. Disk Utility can't repair this disk. Back up as many of your files as possible, reformat the disk, and restore your backed up files."
The details of the Repair printed the following:
    Verify and Repair "Macintosh HD"
    Checking Journaled HFS Plus volume.
    Checking extents overflow file.
    Checking catalog file.
    Invalid node structure
The volume Macintosh HD could not be verified completely.
    Volume repair complete
Updating boot support partitions for the volume as required.
Error: Disk Utility can't repair this disk...disk, and restore your backed-up files.
I had him try to run repair a few times to be sure it would not complete, to which he said it failed the same each time. Then I had him try to boot up in Safe Mode, but the boot up was the same, computer powers off after hitting the Apple loading screen. He has confirmed that this could not be due to the battery or overheating. Is there anything else we can try before reformatting the drive? Is there a way to eliminate hard drive failure from the equation and conclude that it is a corrupt OS? I would hate for him to lose all of his data if there are any other options, please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Matt

Invalid node structure requires a robust disk repair utility such as DiskWarrior 4 - The Disk Utility for Mac Disk Repair, Mac Directory Repair
The pre installed Disk Utility app cannot repair this.

I am having the same issue.  Purchased Photoshop Elements 10 just a few minutes ago, and even though the download (direct download of PSE10) seemed to go fine, I ran the installer and got a message reading, "Installer failed to initialize.  Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem."

  • CC 2014, the installation fails by the fatal error exit number: 7

Hey guys. Since 24 days Im trying to update my Cloud to the CC 2014 but when starting with PS, the installation fails by the fatal error exit number: 7. Whats to do?

Well John, first of all, thank you very much for helping me.
Yesterday I tried something, by deinstalling the Cloud App and PS, but still the same error remained.
What I also don't understand is the term: Reinstalling the product. Is it meant, to deinstall every app, just the Cloud app or only the app where the error occupies?
By Reinstalling I also understand: Uninstall the app and the install it again. Is this correct?
I am surprised anyway. Once everything is fine and then within one day, nothing runs anymore. I read about, using a disc clean app as Clean My Mac 2 can destroy the structure of adobe products some how... but hmmm... this sounds very strange.

  • Installation failed trying to upgdate OS 10.5.8 to OS 10.6.3

So I'm trying to upgrade my mother's iMac from OS 10.5.8 to OS 10.6.3 (she recently go a new iPhone 5 and it's not compatible with iTunes in OS 10.5.8)
We purchased the Snow Leopard install disc directly from Apple - it came and I set about installing the new OS.
After about 30 minutes spent on installing it got stuck with a time remaining of 21 minutes. After about 20 minutes of it being stuck on that time a big alert message popped up: INSTALLATION FAILED - Installer encountered an error that caused installation to fail. Contact Software Manufacturer. And it gave a restart option. I restarted and tried to install again, same thing happened.
I've used disc utilty to both verify and repair the HD - it had no problems.
Again the computer is a 2009 iMac 20" 2.66ghz Core 2 Duo, 2GB Memory - 320GB Harddrive that is about half full.
Don't know what else to do and would appreciate any help!
    Thanks

First off your going to have to copy her users files off the machine to a regular external drive using drag and drop copy methods on all the Home folders containing data except the Library folder.
If there are any browser bookmarks, AddressBook databases or serial keys, email addresses or any data like that not stored in the home folders, that will have to be gleamed and transfered to the external drive. Your basically planning on having to do a erase and install if things don't work out.
Most external drives comes pre-formatted FAT32 that has a 4GB file size limit. If this is ok, then no problem.
If there are any +4GB sized files then the drive will have to be reformatted (Erase) in Disk Utiltiy using the default Mac format it gives. Formatting or erasing a drive deletes all data off of it.
Unmount and disconnect the drive(s) to prevent accidents.
Next what you do is reduce the contents of the users folders you just backed up by dropping their inside contents to the Trash and then Empty Trash. What this will do is improve perfomance when 10.6 is installed, the files will be returned later.
Next you head to Disk Utility and use the Erase Free Space > Zero option on your boot volume, this will take some time to finish and it writes Zero's to the entire free space of the drive catching a bad sector that is likely interfering with the OS X 10.6 upgrade.
The normal mapping off procedure for these bad sectors doesn't seem to work when Disk Uitity is used or when installing OS X for some reason.
Once that is completed, use a very soft and clean cloth and a bit of rubbing alcohol to clean and polish the bottom of the 10.6 disk so it shines without a blemish.
Insert the 10.6 disk and using a wired keyboard, hold the c key down and boot the machine, it should boot off the disk instead of the hard drive.
First screen is the language screen, next is the 10.6 installer DON'T INSTALL, rather head to the Utiltiies Menu and select Disk Utlitiy and Repair Disk on the internal boot drive. Repeat.
If there is a issue with the drive and it can't repair it, then there is a bigger problem. A erase and install might cure it, or a new drive is required.
If the drive is repaired or fine, then quit the Installer and the machine should reboot into 10.5, and try to run the 10.6 upgrade installer again like you did before, and if successful, immediatly Software Update repeatly until clear, you need to be on 10.6.8. Done.
If it gets stuck again, then eject the disk (hold a wired left mouse button down while booting) and have Apple rush you out a replacement 1o.6 disk. and try again.
If that disk fails, or Disk Utiltiy can't repair the drive, then your looking at c booting off the 10.6 disk and using Disk Utiltiy to Erase (using the Security Option > Zero All Data) on the ENTIRE drive, then checking the format is 1 Partition, click the box, Option: GUID and Format: OS X Extended Journaled and MacintoshHD is the name or make it so.
Then quit Disk Utiity and install 10.6 from the disk that way. If the Zero process fails, the drive is bad and will need to be replaced.
Unfortunatly erasing the entire drive also erases all software and any files not backed up.
How to erase and install Snow Leopard 10.6
Now for some reason even after the erase and install you get stuck installing on either 10.6 install disk, then it depends where it gets stuck, if it's random times, then I would suspect a dirty lense on the Superdrive which there are cd lense cleaning kits.
Usually the stuck installing at the same time/location is a problem with the install disk or the boot drive.
