Disc issues

My beloved Beige 333 G3 with OS9.22 is in dyer need of the norton speed disc and disc doctor applications. I lost my CD and have bought 2 in the last 3 years. Lost this one while moving again and cannot locate the CD anywhere, so I ask anyone who has these to email them to me at my yahoo address, which is... [email protected]
I appriciate this very, very much. Cannot find ver9 CD anywhere not even on ebay. I'm new and asking for help.

"I lost my CD and have bought 2 in the last 3 years."
If you still have NU manual, then give them a call. Symantec will have your name & serial# on record.
Maybe they will send you "another" CD (since you purchased 2 CDs in 3 years!) or maybe they will sell you another at a deep discount.
If you no longer have the manual, then go to their Support Site.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 1444ee Recovery Disc Issue

    Hi,
I created three recovery discs soon after I purchased my laptop..The Recovery Disc #1 was inside the optical disc tray while I was resolving some issues on a Linux distro called Backtrack5..Playing around with linux' bootloader and when I tried booting from the Optical drive (i-e Recovery Disc labelled #1) the PC did not recognise it at all..Somehow I managed to run the existing installation of Windows7 (the original one that came with my laptop) and inside Computer it shows that my Optical drive has no filesystem and occupies 0 bytes..But in "Create and format partitions" the optical drive shows to have a RAW filesystem..
The question is: Is there any way to get back the Recovery Disc #1?? If not,any other measure that I could take now so that in the future I can reinstall my factory shipped OS..
    Thanks

You can order recovery media here, or call HP on the phone to order 1-800-474-6836

  • Have I wasted my money going Mac?  Optical Disc Issue!

This is strange but when using OSX and I insert a disc in my DVD drive sometimes it sees it and sometimes it doesn't and it wont then let me eject it. However if I then restart my machine it will see it and let me eject it (so far).
The discs I've tried have been audio CD's and also the OSX Installation discs and I just cannot figure out a pattern to it. Just reinstalled the OS and worked fine as usual until I inserted the OS DVD again.
When this phenomenon occurs I cannot log out and test it as another user account as per Apple Supports suggestion as it goes to a plain blue screen with the timer wheel just spinning and also cannot restart without holding in the power button.
Its driving me nuts and I've spoken to Apple Phone support who just advise if it's a software glitch and I take it to the Apple store they will charge me and it will take at least 2 weeks...what so I do?
Works fine when booted into Vista every time...
    Aaaargh

If the iMac is under one year old, you are covered by the one-year warranty.
I got my Power Mac G5 repaired for a hardware issue in three days, by taking it to an Apple Store. I don't see how any phone tech support person can say it will take two weeks without even knowing what is wrong.
If it was me, I would back up any personal data I have on the iMac, and reinstall Mac OS X from the original discs. Use the Option to +Erase and Install+. That would basically confirm it is a hardware problem, if the problem recurs, because you are using fresh installation. If the problem does not recur, you've fixed your problem; restore your data and rock on...
If you need more details on reinstalling Mac OS X, please post back.

  • Spinning Beach Ball and Startup Disc issue

My friend has an IMAC and it has the latest updates and all... About once every day or two the mac just freezes and the rainbow beach ball spins... If she immediately restarts, she gets the question mark folder so her Imac is looking for a startup folder... If she lets it sit overnight, it reboots into her startup disc. The only thing I can think of that could change overnight is a temperature issue??? I have repaired permissions, repaired the startup disc and used Disk Warrior, Drive genius and Cocktail. No fix. Any ideas ladies and gentlemen? I have reinstalled the system software and tried everything I can think of.

  • Disc issue: urgent! Artefacts and stutter in dvds.

    Dear All,
    I'd appreciate any advice.
I'm using idvd5 with a g5 powermac 1.8ghz on osx10.4. (Even though this is an older version of idvd, I post in this forum because I'm not sure the problem is unique to that version).
I've been burning copies of a 70-minute video onto dvd. For months this has been working fine.
All of sudden, the dvds burnt from this file have issues. The discs play fine for some or nearly all of their length and then they stutter, break-up, and have various colored artefact blocks appearing randomly on the screen. This happens at different points in each disc.
I don't know what this issue can be it. It is not a problem in the original quicktime movie from the DV, I've checked that. I have tried re-mastering the dvd without success. As far as I can tell it is not a problem with the dvd brand because the same issue occurs over several brands.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Richard

    Hi Richard,
If you haven't already, please also post your question/s in the appropriate forum / iDvd5 which is the version of iDvd you are apparently using. Your post might get the attention it deserves in that forum.
    Good luck on this.

  • "Please Insert Blank Disc" Issue - I have had an email from Apple Support

    Hello Everyone
I posted a message a little while ago about the back-up problem I am having and it looks like there are loads of other i-Pod users having the same issue. This is when i-Tunes keeps on rejecting the blank discs and asking you to insert another blank disc, ultimately meaning that you cannot back-up.
I have emailed Apple support and from the reply I got it looks like Apple know about this issue and are looking for a solution to the problem. I can only assume that this will be fixed in a future update. That said, I hope it is not to long in coming, as I have alot of purchased music not backed up.
If anyone has discovered a way to get around this problem on i-Tunes, please let us know! I know I could back up manually, but that is a real pain, as it takes ages to work out the amount of music that will fit on one CD-R, when i-Tunes normally does this for you!
    Over and out!
    Wayne

I was able to select a playlist, such as Purchased, and write it to DVD-R. It puts songs out as m4p files. I have done it (tried it) only once so far. It complained that it might take an hour to finalize the DVD but it only took a few minutes for me (only about 80 songs - sort of waste of a DVD). I think I selected "Burn playlist to disc".
I too had trouble with the backups after moving to 7.3. Worked OK in 7.2.

  • Sims 3 disc issue

i have sims 3 and the disc is not recognised by my 2010 imac 21.5"
it tries to read the disc and rejects it.  our other two imacs can read it and this imac can read all other dvd/cd discs that we try.  this is our second sims 3 disc and nothing seems to work.
i tried installing snow leopard and this still hasnt resolved the issue
neither disc is scratched and the laser must be ok to read the other discs
any ideas or known issues similar to this?

I would contact the Technical Support people at the company that produces the Sims series, found on the web, and ask if they've had reports of similar issues with their disks,  It sounds like it's not an Apple problem.
    Hope this helps

  • ? in file, install disc issues

I have an older iMac that froze and since nothing would 'move', I turned it off.  When turning it back on,
the gray file with the ? mark appeared.  I went through several suggested steps without success.  I put
in the Install disc and it went as far as Select Destination. NO icons appeared and I could not continue.
Did I miss a step or am I really in trouble here?  Thanks.

    A few possibilities:
    1. The hard drive directory is dead.
    2. The PRAM battery is dead.
    3. The Hard drive is dead.
If you aren't backed up, try a data restore to an external drive using one of these tools once you make sure the PRAM battery is less than 4 years old with an authorized service center.  Tell them not to touch the hard drive, and only make sure the battery is current and not to turn on the computer either.

  • Multiple disc issues with iTunes 9

right after I installed iTunes 9 all of my multiple disc albums are not organized. For instance: it used to order them disc 1: track 1,2,3,4 and now it is track 1,1,1,2,2,2,3,etc. This is buggy!

I am also annoyed by this sorting problem.
However, when playing multi-disc albums, iTunes plays the tracks in the correct order, so first the tracks of disc 1, then the second disc.
So, it seems to me, it's just presentation.

  • Burning disc issues

I keep getting medium write errors when trying to burn a CD in both iPhoto & iTunes.  What is causing this issue & what can I do to correct it.  Any and all help is appreciated.
    Thanks - Jeff

    Two possible easons:
    1. The Superdrive needs a clean: use a standard CD/DVD lens cleaner that utilizes tiny brushes.
    2. Poor media: try a different brand. Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden and Maxell are the favourites here.

  • Build Disc Issues

My Estimated Disc Size is 3.95GB. My folder with all my assets is 3.71GB. When I Build & Format Disc, the resulting image file is 7.58GB. I've tried everything I can think of to get the file size down. Help.

    Hi Elizabeth
    Welcom to the forum.
Try deleting all the PAR files related to your project, delete DVDSP prefs and do a disc repair on your HD. Also run software updater and make sure your up to date, there's been new QT and Pro Apps release recently.
If none of this works post back with a bit more info about your project ie. how much video are you trying to put on the disc and how have you encoded it, also check your audio is in .ac3 format (use A.pack if you don't have Compressor 2).
    Good luck

The image I'm burning is 6.1Gb. The first burn went well.
The second and third burns failed. I did a full shutdown and power up and tried a fourth burn that resulted in the same failure. Logs for the 3 failed burns are below.

  • Sudden burning disc issue through Finder

    hey guys.....
really not sure what this is all about so hoping you can help :o)
I'm suddenly having trouble with the discs that I am burning through Finder.....
they burn absolutely fine (both CD and DVD) ...... but once burned.... I can't then copy the data back to the hard drive (or another hard drive)
you know when you drag and drop in to the folder from the disc source? it just bounces back and won't drop.....
    any ideas gratefully received!
    cheers :o)

The file type I compressed in the Compressor is a DVD HD MPEG-2 .m2v for Video
You need to encode to SD MPEG-2, not HD. I guess you still are creatug a HD DVD. Please navigate the last build you made and check the name of the folders. You must have AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS. Anything with HD in the name means a HD DVD.
I have only been using a Maxell blank disk. Not sure how much that comes into the chemistry.
You can learn here * about quality media *
    Hope that helps !
