Disc Makers needs a TS file format to burn DVDs

I am ready to output and make some copies of my 80  min. documentary.
I need to provide the company, ( Disc Makers ) the fille in TS format but do not know how to do that.
Any suggestions.
I'm using Final Cut Studio  2.

I can't open Compressor right now. Download the manual for Compressor and look on page 196 for the TS setting:
http://support.apple.com/manuals/#compressor
Look in the inspector window(s) for the drop down menu to change the MPEG-2 setting to TS.

  • Blu Ray:Eventual File Format Compatibility for DVD Studio Pro?  Time Frame?

    Hello There,
A couple of questions for those of you who might be in the loop regarding Blu Ray authoring development plans for DVDSP:
    1. A time frame?
    2. When Blu Ray authoring is possible with DVDSP, does anyone know what video file formats DVDSP will accept? Will it be MPEG HD? Will it be H.264? Or will it be both? Might it be neither?
I'm trying to make some hardware decisions for encoding, so if anyone has the inside skinny on answers to these questions, fantastic.
    Thanks,

When I said I'm evaluating equipment, I wasn't referring to a workstation, but a real time encoding card that I'm purchasing for additional reasons. If I knew which Blu-ray codec(s) Apple would commit to for DVDSP, (H.264 and/or HD MPEG-2), is would help to ease my decision.
You should probably look more towards whether (a) the card will be Mac compatible in general (if you are looking for one for the Mac and (b) whether the card supports all the formats which are supported by blu-ray. The reason being, though one would assume that any software to make blu-ray discs would support all proper encodes, it may not be the case. Doubtful, but you never know.
Adobe Encore and Avid have been supporting Blu-ray since last fall. It makes me think that Apple really isn't "in it to win it" insofar as professional DVD Authoring is concerned, which is too bad because I've made an initial commitment to DVDSP for a rather labor intensive workflow.
No comment But the issue has been discussed before. Apple will do what Apple thinks is proper. If they do blu-ray (again not thoughts as to where they are now) I am sure it will be done right. blu-ray and HD are new still and you can see players are not even 100%. The Blue Planet, an HD DVD, had issues on players. And blu-ray has some of the same issues. In other words if people with alot of resource$ are having an issue because the area is still a bit of the wild west...

  • Playing MKV files with a burned DVD on BDP S470

I have found that my player is compatible with MKV files. My question is can I play them back on a burned disc? And if so, do I just burn the MKV file to the DVD like I would any other file(s). If not does anyone out there know the correct procedure and proper softwarefor taking the MKV files and transferring them to a DVD so they play in my player? Right now I use imgburn for making duplicates of my DVD movies for my personal backup. I would like to do the same with my BR movies especially the ones that require a double layer BR which right now cost wayyyy too much. I just want to convert so it can fit on a single layer BR
    thanks very much

In order to successfully burn MKV to DVD for playing MKV on DVD player, we had better convert 1080p or 720 p MKV to DVD format.
iDealshare VideoGo can easily convert MKV to DVD format. Step by step guide at how to convert 1080p or 720 p MKV to DVD format

  • Supported disc not available; i.e. imac not recognizing "burned" dvd

After using iDVD, and not being able to create a finished dvd from an iMovie project with my 1000mz iMac, I had to use my daughter's 1.4 gz iBook, and successfully burned a disc image.
After I burned a DVD from the disc image, it played fine in my home DVD player, and the iBook from which it was created. However, when I put the disc in my iMac, the disc was not readable within DVD player. I kept getting the following message:
    "supported disc not available".
Although the name of the DVD appeared on the desktop, DVD player could not play the contents of the DVD. After visiting the Apple store, the "genius" suggested the super drive in the iMac is very sensitive, and after age, may not read all discs.
    Now my question:
If i need to upgrade to a MacBook (so I have a faster processor to finish DVD projects), and the finished discs are not readable in my iMac, does this all make any sense? Is there another explanation as to why the finished disc was not readable in my iMac, yet was readable in 6 other Macs at the Apple Store? Could it be the media (I doubt), the super drive in the iMac, or the way in which the disc was burned using the iBook? (I used "Toast" to burn the dvd, not apple's "disc utility" .Any advice is most appreciated.

Is there another explanation as to why the finished disc was not readable in my iMac, yet was readable in 6 other Macs at the Apple Store? Could it be the media (I doubt)
Yes it could be the media....some drives don't like some kinds of media. You might find if you switch, things get better. I like verbatim. Is it a DVD-R or DVD+R? How old is your iMac?
    http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia
the super drive in the iMac
Yes it could be that too. Could even be a dirty/dusty lens in the iMac. If it's not working now, I'd try a CD/DVD lens cleaning disk. Some users don't like these and think they can damage things, but not me. But use at your own risk.
or the way in which the disc was burned using the iBook?
Since it worked well in many other players, it sounds like you've got a pretty good burn. But I said pretty good. You can get better burns if you burn at slower speeds - I use Toast at 1X when I want the "best" burn. I doubt Toast is the problem though, just maybe the speed of the burn.
DVD compatibility is still not where it should be for home computers, Macs or PCs.

  • I have burned a DVD using I-DVD with pictures from Iphoto and I am wondering why the metadata that includes the Faces tags are not showing up in the original files on the burned DVD?

    Request for help

Faces is not a standard and has no place to go in metadata - in iPhoto you can export including much of the metadata by chencking all of the boxes when you export - no idea at all what iDVD does - better to ask in the iDVD forum

  • I need help finding a program to burn dvds on my ibook

i have a hp dvd1040 external DVD burner, my ibook g4 reads it, and i can burn cd's,and watch dvds with it, but the program it came with to burn dvd's is only for windows, I'm looking for a free program that i can download but cant seem to find any, any suggestions? thanks!

Not sure about the capabilities of the HP external drive in question,
but with a variety of drives known to be supported in Mac OS X
for certain tasks, there are some freeware and shareware utilities.
One that may be helpful, if not in that case, in the general arena,
is this open-source Burn 1.721u freeware. It can do quite a bit:
    http://burn-osx.sourceforge.net/
It may be, the better type of external DVD recording device would
be a FireWire one; as they are generally better suited with Macs.
    In any event...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Deleting files after making a DVD

Once I have a .dvdproj file, and I have burned a disc, I can delete all files relating to it and go back and burn another disc if I live this file right?

    Absolutely not!!!
Your iDVD project is just a container with pointers to the actual media used in the project. If you change, move, rename or delete the iMovie, photos or audio clips used in the project, you will lose the project because iDVD will not be able to locate the needed files.
To save your project for another burn, don't delete anything until you make a disk image file of your project. You do this from within your iDVD project.
Open your project and select File->Save as Disk Image. You will need to specify where to save the disk image file. I usually save mine to the desktop so that I can test it, but you can save it anywhere you want.
The process looks just like the burn process, and will take just as long for the encoding, but the end result is a disk image file, not a burned DVD disk:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/7.0/en/6733.html
Once the disk image file has been created, click on it to mount it and open your DVD Player application. The 'disk' will play and you can check to see that it is ok.
Now, you have an exact copy of your iDVD project, with all the needed media files encoded into it.
You can NOW safely delete all the files used in it without losing the ability to burn DVDs of this project whenever you want. The disk image file is a great backup for your iDVD projects and generally takes up much less drive space. It can also be moved to another drive or computer.
You burn more DVDs from the disk image file using Disk Utility (Applications->Utilities->Disk Utility:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8729.html
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2087?viewlocale=en_US
Post back if any of this is not clear or if you have further questions.
By the way, if you have already deleted the files and would like to create a disk image file for future burning of disks, you can do this from a burned DVD disk itself.

  • How do you determine file being used in DVD map?

    Hi
On older idvd projects I sometimes want to check what version of a movie file it is using. I can't figure out how to reveal the information. Specifically, I'm looking for exact name of file being used and its location.
    Thank you for your help
    Phil

You can find that information from within the iDVD project. Open the iDVD project in question. Under the menu bar, select Project Info. You will then see a screen containing information about that project. There is a screen showing all the Media used, with the path to each movie, audio, or photo used in the project. The path begins with the drive on which the movie is located and then each folder/file.
By the way, you do know that an iDVD project is like an alias collection. The actual media are not stored within the project, only information pointing to the actual media files. When you burn a DVD, iDVD gathers the media files temporarily for the burn.
If you rename, move, change or delete any media used within a project, iDVD will be unable to locate the files and will not open properly. Many people have mistakenly saved only an iDVD project, deleting the original iMovies used in it, and have been sadly disappointed to find that the iDVD project no longer has the movie files.
If you wish to save drive space but save your iDVD projects for burning later, you should create a disk image file by doing 'save as disc image' from within your iDVD project. This process looks just like a burn, and the encoding takes just as long, but the end result is a disk image file, not a burned DVD disk. The disk image file is self-contained; that is, all the media files used in the project are encoded into the disk image file. So now you have a disk image file of your project that can be saved, moved, used to burn DVD disks at any time.
You can safely delete the original iMovie project and the original iDVD project without losing the capability of burning more DVDs of the project.
I have disk image files of all the iDVD projects I have made. I store them on external drives as backups.

  • Formatting An External DVD Burner

I purchased an external DVD burner after being told it was compatible with a Mac.
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151194
It's recognized in Disk Utility, but when I try and burn a DVD, DU gives me a message that "Another application is using this disc", which I'm assuming is the Superdrive. And doesn't make sense because the Superdrive is empty.
Am I able to use this device with my Mac? And if so, what do I need to do in order to burn DVD's?

In general any external device should work. I would be more inclined to buy one that stated it was Mac compatible but in many cases it shouldn't be necessary as far as the drive is concerned. However, the enclosure itself may not be compatible.
If NewEgg is not the branded vendor of your device, then contact the support site of the device's manufacturer who may at least be able to tell you if the device will work or if it's defective.
But there isn't much we can do to help with hardware that doesn't work. I can suggest that when it comes to buying drives you may have better luck at MacSales.com.

How did you copy files to the external drive, and what files did you copy? Did you drag and drop in the Finder? Use a clone utility? What files did not successfully copy?
If you reformatted the drive as part of your install, then you won't be able to recover any files from the drive. Reverting back to (reinstalling) 10.4 will not help you.
Do you have a complete-drive backup of your old system?

  • I have built a slideshow in iPhoto -- I need/want the file in .mp4 format.  How do I do that?

Ok, I don't know why I am here, but!
I have built a slideshow in iPhoto -- I need/want the file in .mp4 format.  How do I do that?
The question may have been answered somewhere but I was sent here -- so her I am.
Still I think I need my slideshow in .MP4 format to play on windows/smartTVs and the .m4v file that export offers seems to be the only option and it fails.
I am using iPhoto v9.5.1 on a Macbook Air.
    help.

Try changing the extension to .m4v and see if that will do the trick.  It did for me on another occasion where it wouldn't play as .MP4.  If it works it's a simple solution.
I compared an .m4v and an .MP4 file in Qujicktime Player via the Winde ➙ Show Movie Inspector menu and both were  the same codec:
    H.264, 1280 × 720, Millions
    AAC, Stereo (L R), 44.100 kHz
Check to see what codec the Movie Inspector window shows.

    Hi Sam,
This need to be fixed at the program level only,so you need an ABAPer to make the changes in out put. There is nothing to do with authorizations.
