Disc Menus in Premiere 9

I have a project that contains a couple of different videos with audio in both. I have imported both the videos (mp4 videos) correctly, I believe. I created scene markers and a stop marker. When I go to Share the video, it loses the menu option. I want to eventually make this look like a DVD with a Main Menu and Scene Selections but when I save to my hard drive it automatically starts playing the video without the main menu. When I Auto Preview the project it looks just like a DVD with a Menu and Scene Selections. Is there a certain format I am supposed to export my project in order to keep the main menu, scene selection, and markers?

The steps I have taken so far include:
- The vidoe was originally created using camtasia to capture my screen as an instructional vidoe on how to work a certain website and saved as an MP4 file.
- I took that file and literally dragged it into Premiere Elements 9.
- The instructional video is two parts which is 2 seperate files so I dragged both videos over and they are both MP4 files. I placed both files on the timeline and using the green marker tool on the toolbar I placed a scene marker in the beggining of the video which created a green circle and I placed another before the second speaker and then a stop marker at the end of the clip which created a red circle.
- I went to the Disc Menus tab and chose and applied one of the menu's that was available and dragged it to the left  as the instructions mentioned.
- In return it made the two scenes and a main menu which looks just like a DVD movie menu and scene selection menu
- I then went to the share tab, selected computer, MPEG, and left everything as default and saved the project.
- After the save completed it created a .mpg file which strips away the menu options and automatically plays the video. It removed the markers, scene selection, etc.
Am I saving it in the wrong format? I also tried to save it as a flash video but still strips away the markers and menu options. I was succesful at saving the video in using the Disc option to make it create a DVD and the menu option and scene selection was available but I want to save it to my hard drive becuase I want this to go onto my IPAD and work correctly as a marketing tool.

  • Can I edit disc menus outside Premiere 10?

    Hi
Can I edit disc menus outside Premiere 10?
Never done it and I would prefer it, as I find Adobe' is a bit too basic and slow.
    Thanks
    M

    Hi
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Yes, I found them [W7 Home Premium - 64bit - Intel Core2 Duo CPU P8700 @ 2.54GHz - 200 Pin SO DIMM DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz - Ati Mobility Radeon HD4650 Graphics card uses abot 1GB MAX of the Memory if needed on top of its own 500Mb- X-black LCD 16.4' HD - No game ever had problems of performance yet - 2 years].
The reason I asked about editing them outside Premiere 10 is because the editing in Premiere 10 is the most basic they could do.
I understand Adobe wish us to upgrade to the Pro version but those menus are not much editable and too constricted to the basic design/low quality/button-image-text.
At least some of them are and I am using [testing] a HD one - the 'Fun' one on the General List and I now moved to the 'Grid' - having a more basic background to 'properly' show characters - also sometimes the preview plays at a awful pixel rate.
I am no expert, but I would have preferred a 'proper' external editor to use in conjunction.
When I find the time I will create my own - if possible!
Are there any external Disc Menus Editors so, I can import them into Premiere?

  • Using disc menus from Premiere Elements 4 in Premiere Elements 12

Is there any way to use a disc menu (General-GenericOne) from Premiere Elements 4 in Premiere Elements 12?

    lancaster
    Yes.
From your purchased Premiere Elements 4 Windows
    Local Disc C
    Program Files (x86)
    Adobe Premiere Elements 4.0
    DVD Templates
    General
and in the General Folder is the Generic One Folder with the theme's assets..
    1. Copy the whole Generic One Folder.
To your purchased Premiere Elements 11 Windows
    Local Disc C
    Program Files
    Adobe
    Adobe Premiere Elements 12
    DVD Templates
    Common Folder
in the Common Folder create a new Folder named something like "My PE4 Menu".
    2. In that "My PE4 Menu" Folder paste the whole
    Generic One Folder.
You should find your your Generic One choice under Tools/Movie Menu....
Been road tested. It works for me. Please let us know if that works for you also.
    Thanks.

  • Disc menus not working after upgrade to Maverick

    Dear all,
I can't use disc menus in Premiere Elements 10 after upgrade to OS X Maverick on my IMAC.
If I select a Disc Menu the pragram always crash.
There is a message: Adobe Premiere Elements will be closed because an Error happened. The current project will be saved.
How can I fix this issue.

    uada1061
    What is happening...
    a. You click on the Disc Menus header and the program crashes
    or
    b. You select a theme in the Disc Menus display and the program crashes if you click Apply or drag the menu from the display area into the Disc Menus Screen?
Have you check your Maverick permissions including making sure that the User Account being used has Administrative Privileges?
How many disc menu makers are on the Timeline, and what is the spacing between them? Are there any disc menus that you can work with without an immediate program crash when you select one?
More later. Looking forward to your follow up.
    Thanks.

In the DVD/BD tab, just set to Autoplay, and all Menus will be removed.

  • Problems getting Disc Menus to work using Adobe Premiere Elements 10

I am putting together a presentation using Premiere Elements 10.  I have the entire presentation complete and I want to add a Disc Menu so I can have a screen that will allow me to pick parts of the disc to run when I watch the DVD.  When I pick the DISC MENUS area on the screen for the program I can see menus that I should be able to drag and drop but it doesn't work and it asks me to sign into Adobes website. what am I doing wrong?

Several possibilities for the problem. First. are you selecting photoshop.com plus member only disc menu choices. If so, photoshop.com plus is discontinued and you need to use one of the non photoshop.com plus menus. If that does not apply to your situation, then please read on.
Did your Premiere Elements 10 purchase came from box or online download purchase.
If box, did you ever install Content from the Content disc after you installed the program from the program installation disc?
    or
If online download, did you ever install Content from Adobe via the link
    http://www.adobe.com/special/premiereel/downloads/
    http://www.atr935.blogspot.com/2013/10/pe-7-8-910-content-download.html
When you are in Premiere Elements 10, how many disc menus are available to you to choose from?
Please review, answer the above, and then we can move on based on your details.
    Thanks.

  • Cannot add disc menus to my project because of signing in problem(Adobe ID)

Why signing in using my Adobe Id to add disc menus/theme to my project take forever? it will not move to the next option it will stay in signing in mode. It looks like it hang but it's not.

    Yongi
What version of Premiere Elements are you working with and on what computer operating system is it running?
Your mention of signing in makes me think you are not in the current version but in an older one when photoshop.com existed.
If you in an older version, ignore the sign in, cancel out of any dialogs related to photoshop.com, and only use the menus without the band at the upper right corner of the thumbnails in the disc menus display area. They are the photoshop.com plus member only one which are no longer available.
The answers are in the details. So, please detail your situation more.
We will be watching for your reply. Do not hesitate to ask if you need clarification on anything written.
    Thank you.

  • Disc menu in Premiere Elements 7

I'm using Elements 7 and I'm trying to use Blossoms in the disc menus in the Wedding category. The Scene page has a default of 6 thumbnails on one Scene page that are fairly close together. I'd like to make it have only three thumbnails and make it have two pages. I can't find anyway to do that. I'd also like to be able to have two lines under the thumbnail and it will only stretch horizontally Any help?
    Thanks,
    Bruce

Unfortunately, you've posted in the old Premiere sub-forum. This is for a program, that is the pre-cursor of PrPro.
The PrElements forum is here: http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere/premiere_elements
As for customizing PrE Menu Sets, there are some very important considerations and conventions that must be addressed.
You will need Photoshop, or PhotoshopElements (maybe, but perhaps with limitations).
Never work on the original Library material, but ONLY on Copies, and place them in a separate folder, within the DVD Library folder hierarchy.
See the discussion, linked in this ARTICLE, for some considerations, instructions and warnings.
    Good luck,

  • Disc Menus

Hi all, I created my first movie this week on Premiere Elements 7. Last night I set up my markers and the menu. It all worked fine. Now I want to go back to the menu and edit a few things. How do I bring back the menu? When I go to the "Windows" tab and click on "Disc menu" (I think thats what it was), I just get a blank Disc Layout Panel. How do I bring my existing menu up? I've got Steve's book, but it doesn't say how to bring it back up. Thanks

If you're in the project file you used to create the DVD, the menus should show up in the Disc Layout window when you select the Disc Menus tab. Then you can just click on the menu's text or background and it will open up the menu editing workspace.
If for some reason the Disc Layout window isn't showing, you can open it by going to the Window drop-down, I believe.
And thanks for buying the book, Howard! A nice read, isn't it?

  • Is there a way to avoid the disc menus to make an auto play disc in Premiere elements 11?

    Hi,
I have upgraded from Premiere elements 10 to 11 and found that it is impossible to make a DVD without passing through the - long- procedure of choosing a disc menu.
In PE 10 it could be done but  I haven't found a way to do this in PE 11 . Very often one want to just try a movie before it is finished and quickly burn a HD disc.
Does anybody have a good suggestion?

    Hi again Steve.
I just found the answer on the forum.
    A.T. Romano Oct 17th 2013
The trick is to go to the Edit Menu/Preferences/General
    and
place a check mark next to "Show All Do Not Show Again Messages".
I had eliminated all messages and consequently always got the menu option.
This seems to  a minor bug that should yet be eliminated.
    Thanks for your help .
    Kind regards,
    Rein

  • Premeire Elements 12 can't see disc menus added to project in PE 10

I have a project that I created in Premiere Elements 10. I just installed Premeire Elements 12, and while I was able to open my project, PE 12 apparently can't see the disc menu I created in PE 10. I tried to recreate the menu, but when I installed PE 12, the install wizard apparently failed to install the menus.
I have the installation CD. I just spent/wasted about 45 minutes with a chat agent who either couldn't understand what I needed to know how to do, or didn't know how to do it either, and never transferred me to there supervisor after saying they would. The agent wanted me to download the components, which means I have to purchase them, when I already purchased the expensive software (which should include the components needed to use it).  If I try to run the install wizard again to install the missing menu component, it first tries to uninstall Premiere Elements.
Does anyone here know how to use the installation CD to install missing/additional components on a computer that is not connected to the internet?

Project created in earlier version does not always open with later version. So, the classical comeback is to finish a project in the program in which it is created. Do you have Premiere Elements 10 as a fall back? Even the path back may not be possible. If you have taken the original 10 project and edited it in 12, you should not be able to go back and edit in 10 again. But, let us keep that in mind, but see if we can find a way to open the 10 project successfully in 12, menus et al.
Both 10 and 12 have the Blinking Lights Theme, so we are not dealing with a discontinued theme. And, Blinking Lights is not one of the photoshop.com plus content. Good.
In 12, when you go to Tools/Movie Menu/select Holidays and Events/Blinking Lights, do you find the thumbnail for Blinking Lights with a blue band at the top right corner of the thumbnail. If so, what happens when you right click the blue band and select Download Now? Do you have your antivirus and firewall turned Off? You cannot use Blinking Lights with the blue band. Only an incomplete set of assets for the Blinking Lights installs with the program. All have to download essential files from within Movie Menu in order to get that menu to work.
Also, we want to know what is going on with this theme's assets at the hard drive save location. To do that, go to
    Local Disk C
    Program Data
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    12.0
    Online
    DVD Templates
    All_Lang
    Holidays and Events
    Blinking Light
and then tell us what you find in the Blinking Light Folder. Any .psd files? Before or after the Download Now?
In the next hour or so, I am going to do a complete run through of creating a project with Blinking Lights menus in 10 and trying to open it with Blinking Lights menu in 12 in order to make sure that there are no special glitches in the path.
Definitely be set up for Run As Admininstrator.
More later. I will give you a detailed account on my results.
    Thanks for the follow up.

Add On...Where is the media for 10 project? Is the 10 and 12 work being done on the same computer? If you are working from one computer (with 10) to another (12), did you transfer the 10 project to the other computer with 12 using a Copied or Trimmed Folder from Project Archiver so that you took the 10 project media along with its project.prel?

  • Menus in Premiere Elements 12

Previously, I have used Adobe Encore CS3 to add videos to the  menu.  In Encore you can add as many separate videos as you want to the menu.  You can play them separately.  I do not see this feature in Premiere Elements 12.

    Michael Stehly
Are you referring to Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc and AVCHD on DVD disc, or DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc?
Hope I am interpreting you question correctly....
If you have more than one movie on the Timeline and want to navigate through them in a menu after burn to, Timeline markers, including stop markers, need to be placed on the Timeline at the indicated locations. Stop markers are an essential part of this type of workflow.
HOWEVER, stop markers in the Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc or AVCHD on DVD are not recognized by the players. Stop markers function for this kind of workflow for DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc.
If your question does go to Blu-ray and AVCHD described above, then, if you want to keep Premiere Elements in the workflow and achieve you menu navigating goals, you would have to export your Premiere Elements Timeline content to a file and then import that file into a 3rd party software for menus (which support a stop marker or stop marker like feature) and burn to disc.
Please let us know if the above targeted your question.
    Thank you.
