Disc repair possible?

The drives from a mirrored RAID drive are no longer mounting. I had the enclosure replaced since it appeared to be failing, but with the new box the drives won't mount. Here's the error message that Disk Utility generated. Any hope for these discs?

So what about the error recommendations? tried those?
When Disk Utility fails and cannot repair, you need a good sturdy 3rd party repair tool (TechTool Pro 5; Disk Warrior 4.2; Drive Genius). In fact, I'd dispense with Apple's for repairs and just go straight to one of the three.
Because you were having trouble before, seems like format and restore would be best, rather than even breaking the mirror and adding a new drive to rebuild with.
Mirrors are not a replacement for mirror, and ideally would be on a bus with at least 80MB/sec or more.

I did a verify disc in the Disc Utility and got this message:

I did this but while in the Disc Repair, I was unable to select anything. I tried using the keyboard but that didn't help.
Any ideas of what I can do so I can repair by disc.

Unable to access data after running disc repair

I ran disc repair today as there is a problem with the hard drive. On restart the computer is displaying a login page. I have never had to login and now I cannot access any of my files or applications. How can I access my data?

Disc repair not an option

i have been having trouble with disc permissions not completing for a little while, and today i noticed the disc repair stays "grayed out" in the first aid menu. i booted the disc from the install disc (which runs 10.2.4) and the disc repair went through once, corrected a single issue and went through perfectly the second time.
even so, it doesn't show up when i start it from the hard drive (which runs 10.2.8)
is this a problem or does it simply indicate that it doesn't need to be run?

You can't run Repair Disk or any other (reliable)
disk utility using the program on the drive being
repaired; you need to boot from a different volume
(e.g., the OS X Install disk) to repair the hard
drive. The basic principle is that you can't make
changes to the drive from which the OS and utility
program are running at the time. You can run Verify
Disk using the hard drive's copy of Disk Utility
while booted from the hard drive.
When I attempt to run Disk First Aid from the booted OSX install disk, I get the same message. It states that an internal error has occurred and disk Repair has lost contact with the Disk Management Tool. Running DiskWarrior shows no problem.
What can I do about that?

Your disk is about to fill up to the point where it will not boot. Take action quickly to delete files you do not need so you will not reach that point.
You should maintain a minimum of 10 GB of free space and it is best to keep about 15% free, whichever is bigger. Your system can slow down if there is not enough free disk space.
Initial easy steps to gain disk space:
- Delete all files in the Downloads folder.
Empty the Trash.
- Start iPhoto. Empty its trash.
- Boot in Safe Mode.

Run a Time Machine (or other) backup since you are about to delete and move files and you may need to recover from any inadvertent mistakes or decisions.

Configure Time Machine to backup your offload disk (if you have one);

Now both your system disk and your external offload disk will be backed up onto your Time Machine disk.

L720 SIM Connection Points Broken - Repair Possibl...

Accidently, i damaged the sim connection points inside the sim jacket. The phone does not pick up SIM anymore. Took it to local repair shops, they tried but it did not work. They say the micro SIM jacket has to be replaced and it is not available in market yet. Would Nokia Care be having it and is repair possible? Please note it's the sim jacket on the board, not the one you put the sim on and then place it into the slot.
I fear the phone is gone for good. Has anyone had similar experience and did your phone get repaired by Nokia Care?
Phone is Lumia 720 - I bought it exactly 2 years ago and although it has visited Nokia care thrice, still I love the Windows Phone. Cannot imagine dropping it for any other mobile

This can often happen if an older-style Mini-SIM that has been cut down to Micro-SIM size because the older ones were slightly thicker. As has already been said, the repair could be expensive.

Disc repair states volume could not be repaired - am clueless how got here

my disc utility repair states volume could not be repaired. I did this with Apple using my disc. Is there any options to repair other than reloading the operating system? I hate to loose all my updates and third party software.
For half hour I have been trying to figure out how to post a question. can you tell me how I got to this page?

Hello Jacqueline, welcome to Apple (user to user) Discussions
The first thing I would do is back up all vital data, iTunes folder, your username/Library/Mail and username/Library/Safari folders.
Next I would copy all passwords, network login info, mail login, third party passwords etc. You can copy third party apps as well, but it's best to use original sources if possible. Some copy protected apps can only be reinstalled via disks.
Once you have all your data backed up, use a blank external drive, repair your disk permissions and use a copy of Carbon Copy Cloner to clone your buggy boot drive to the external as a extra precaution. You can hold option and boot from this drive in the future after you have rebuilt your present drive.
Now once your data is safe, you can choose to mess around and try to fix your buggy boot drive with Disk Warrior, but it might not fix your problem and cost you a pretty penny to try.
My advice if you have followed the steps above, is to simply hold c and boot off the Tiger installer disk (not the Tiger over Panther upgrade disks) and select Disk Utility from the installer menu. Select your buggy boot drive and Erase with the option to Zero. This "low level format" will take some time and ensure you get a drive that's more reliable, (hardware malfunctions is another thing obviously) from bad sectors on the platters. (a problem Disk Warrior can't fix)
Once that's done, simply reinstall Tiger, enter your network data, go to System Preferences>Software update and repeat until it's clear. If you don't have iLife '06, you'll need to install this as it's not included in Tiger purchase disks. Update and repair permissions.
Next it's time to reinstall apps from original source if all possible and immediately update. Reason for this is security issue in apps that get fixed, but you might have a backdoor or altered app code from a previous unfixed exploit. So a fresh copy will eliminate this possibility.
Also be sure to visit your drive makers sites and update and driver software for Tiger.
You can load up the rest of your files and what not, import your mail boxes, Safari bookmarks, tweak the machine the way you like it. Once everything is done, wait to see if you forgot anything, then you can always hit the clone on the external.
Once your sure your fine, then Disk Utility Erase the clone and repeat the cloning method, using your new boot drive instead.
Now you'll have a option boot-able backup of your boot drive in case your present boot drive kicks the bucket one morning. (It's happened to me a few times)
Clone your boot drive before a OS update, or a major install, or whenever you wish. This way you have the option to "go back" in case something breaks with a OS update or something.
I advise have 2 staggered clones just in case.
So to review in short, backup, then attempt to fix, then simply reinstall to catch everything that could be wrong, then clone your drive occassionally for a alternate bootable drive.

I tried upgrading to MountaIN lION HOWEVER i WASNT ABLE TO Install. I then tried reinstallling Snow leopard but once again it will not let me install stating there are errors on the disc. I have run disc repair on disc utility but it wont allow me

So you are trying to reinstall Snow Leopard?
In order to do that, you need to erase your hard drive - you cannot go back to an earlier system without erasing. Make sure you back up your files first. Then insert the Snow Leopard install disk, and restart while holding down the C key. If that does not work, insert the install disk, go to System Preferences > Startup Disk and highlight the install disk > click on restart.
Once you are booted into the install disk, go past the language selection and then to Utilities in the menu bar. Use Disk Utility to repair the drive (just in case), erase it and then install. After that, eject the disk and update to the latest 10.6.8.

How to get disc repair with recovery disc assistance

how do i get my mac to work. i have make a usb recovery disc. witch the mac mini recognize. after that it opens the disc utilty function. get to the disc info. but i can gt the repair function to work or to verify.....

Disc repair error "couldn't unmount disc"

Hello alll! I would very much appreciate any help from anyone!
A few days ago I had reason to believe that I got a virus on my Macbook Pro. My hard drive might have been corrupted. I was unable to turn on my MacBook, with the screen frozen on the opening apple logo for hours. Not being tech-savvy in the slightest, I decided to simply erase my "Macintosh HD" disc in Disk Utility (restarting computer, holding down alt key) and then restore my Macbook with a recent back up that I have on an external hard drive. After erasing my disc, when I try to restore with my backup, my "Macintosh HD" disc doesn't appear. Only the "Repair HD" disk appears. I tried to repair my "Macintosh HD" disk in Disk Utility, but recieved an error message "couldn't unmount disc". What can I do to fix this? A friend told me it could be a hardware problem, perhaps a wire or something is out of place. What do you guys think?

My macbook air (OS x lion ) hard disk got crashed. now it starts with a grey screen and MAC OS X utilities. in the disk utility, the hard disk icon became inactive. when i erased the disk it became active again but i am still not able to partition it. it showed -- "Partition Error". "Couldn't unmount disk". now the disk icon became inactive again. when i click on mount it becomes active again but partioning is not done after many attempts.

I keep getting a line of distorted pixels across the screen and sometimes a distorted portion of the page, which clears or appears in another area when I move the cursor over it. Often times my whole page freezes and I am left to the spinning rainbow and am forced to shut down with the off button.

Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.

How to do disc repair on MB

Before installing Leopard when I get the disc from Apple store I read that you should repair the disc to prepare it for installation. How do I do this as the option for repair disc is visible but not responding when I run disc utility form the HD i the MB. I tried booting form the Tiger install disc while holdig down C key and all tis did was to ask me to install Tiger again.
As far as I know my HD and Tiger are OK but in view of new OS I thought I should do it anyway. Any advice please or is tis al doen fir me on installing Leopard ?

This is actually a pretty simple process...
Stick your disc in, restart, and when restarting hold down the apple key, you will get two choices to boot from, either your hard drive or the disc you inserted. Boot from the disc. It will load up a new screen. From there you chose one of the tabs at the top and chose utility disk. And from there you can choose your hard drive and repair the hard drive. Hope this helps.

Broken System Board. Repair Possible?

Nokia 5233 system board got broken accidentally. The pin on the board for the battery is broken and that edge of the board is slightly damaged. Nokia care says repair's not possible. Please check the photoes, I think it's possible to repair. It's been only 4 months of the purchase, I really want it repaired. Tell me, if it's really impossible to repair. Or it's gonna cost a lot. Then how much it's gonna cost.

If Nokia say it can't be repaired and is scrap, then you've got nothing to lose by trying to repair it. Do you have the piece of board that was broken off? If you do, the Superglue is your friend. The with a very fine soldering iron, lots of light and a big magnifying glass, solder the pin back on. Just be careful though. When Superglue gets hot it gives off Cyanide fumes so don't breath in.
Why would this discussion be forbiddden? The phone is scrap although quite what he was doing to break it in the first place is a different matter.

Submerged iPhone - repair possible

My iPhone was submerged while on. I am pretty sure it is a total loss. I let it dry out, then plugged it in - all it does is get really hot.
My problem is that I live abroad (no Apple stores here) and I need to get a repair estimate or a statement that it cannot be repaired in order for my credit card to cover the damage. Is this possible without visiting an apple store? (Even just a conditional statement that said if it was submerged it will not be repairable would suffice.)

you will find all the contact information under support at apple.com -- they don't respond to e-mail, you need to talk to support who will tell you about their repair service.
Repairs, either out of warranty or for something you break yourself (like submerging it) are 250.00 plus shipping.
Note that they won't really repair your iPhone -- they will just send out a new one.
If you are using a sim-unlocked phone overseas then you are out of luck, since the new one they send you will not work with anything but ATT.
