Disc skipping in tray and won't eject

I have put a disc in the tray of my MACbook pro that was sent to me with photos on.
It is making a skipping sound in the tray, will not load and more importantly wont eject.
HELP!
Would really appreciate any suggestions how to ejct the disc.
I have tried the following:
1) Press eject key
2) Turn Macbook off, press eject key
3) Press & hold F12 key
It is now prohibiting me using the windows part of my macbook so I need to resolve this quickly.
Thanks in advance for your seggestiosn folks.

Thank you Pennbank,
I tried several of the suggestions in the thread which did not work for me but did appear to work for others.
The solution for me was to turn off the computer and restart holding the left mouse key down.
It disc popped out very quickly followed by 'The happy Dad Dance' around the living room.
Top work thank you.

A CD is stuck in my MacBook Pro, doesn't appear on desktop and won't eject? Help?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
To force eject the CD, hold the trackpad while your Mac is starting, so it will be ejected.
If it doesn't work, hold Command and S keys while your MacBook Pro is starting, and type:
    drutil eject
    exit
If it doesn't work, the SuperDrive is damaged, so it has to be replaced at an Apple Store or reseller. A cheaper way is to get an external disc drive

  • Disc is stuck in drive and won't eject

I have a brand new iMac which I purchased over Christmas, 2009. I was loading up software from various discs when one would not eject. I've tried everything:
Dragged the icon to "trash" and let it go over the eject icon.
    Pressed the "eject" button.
    Pressed F12 upon start up.
Held down mouse upon start up.
Went to Disk Utility and clicked "eject".
    Nothing worked!
Is there a hole that can be used to eject the disc manually like what was available on the G4s?
If anyone has a solution, please let me know.

    You could try looking here:
    http://www.silvermac.com/2006/dvd-stuck-in-macbook-pro/
But personally I would take it to an Apple store, you don't want to break the drive by accidentally doing something wrong. (Eg leaving small bits of cardboard in the drive).

  • Mini Disc stuck and won't eject!

My friend just stuck one of those mini-disc things into my DVD/CD slot. (You know, those mini versions of a cd)..anyway, I've tried doing what Disc Utility said to but its not working...PLEASE HELP!!

    Your best option...
Get a thick piece of paper and fold it in half.
Tear that in half and stick it in all the way.
Try to get that behind the disc.
    It should pop right out.

  • DVD won't mount and won't eject

    Hi,
I placed a DVD into my drive this morning and the disc wouldn't mount. When I try to eject it it doesn't eject either. Pressing the eject button on the keyboard doesn't even show the little eject arrow on the display. F12 doesn't work and I also tried resetting hte Power Management which did nothing. I tried holding down the mouse button after restarting but I'm not sure if I held it at the right time or not.
Either way, I have a feeling that won't work either.
Anybody have any other suggestions other than opening up the top and taking the drive out? And if that's my last resort does anybody know a good website that explains how to remove the top and the drive safely?
    Thanks.

With the machine powered off, hold down the trackpad button while you turn the power on. Keep holding the trackpad button down until the disc is ejected.
If the drive makes no sound and the computer goes ahead and starts up with the disc inside it, your optical drive is (a) dead, or (b) not securely connected to the logic board. If it makes anything resembling the usual eject sound but the disc doesn't come out, there's a mechanical problem inside the drive, and you'll have no choice but to remove the drive and retrieve the disc manually, then install a new drive.
    Disassembly instructions are here:

Be sure to pick the right instruction set for your particular Powerbook model.

  • Cd doesn't mount and won't eject

I have an iMac G4 intel core 2 duo, less than a year old. I placed a cd in the drive and it never mounted to the desktop. Now I can not get the cd out. I've tried the eject key on usb keyboard, holding down the mouse on start up, holding down the C key on start up, tried opening iTunes to see if it would let me eject--nothing has worked.
    Please any suggestions.

I have the identical model and have had a somewhat similar problem. Never had a CD not "mount". I assume by this that the disk is not being recognized by your computer and not showing up on your screen as available. I have, however, had the sticking when trying to eject.
I've solved that by clicking on the CD (don't know how you are going to do that, but open Finder and see what shows up) going to Finder, File, and then Eject. That worked when hitting the eject button wouldn't do a thing and I thought I'd be on the phone with Apple Care for a few hours. Good luck!

  • Help!  Mini disk not recognized and won't eject!!!!

I just inserted a mini dvd disk into my Macbook Pro and now it doesn't show up at all and I can't eject it!
    How can I do it???
Thanks so much for your help!!

Ok I did the same thing just before I came to this forum to see if I should be using the Mini CD. I was able to eject using the key on the keyboard after pushing it in a little with another full size CD.

  • I keep getting error code 4450 when I'm trying to burn a CD from itunes.  It keeps my CD and won't eject it and says "cancelling burn" forever then itunes locks up and my cd is ruined and NO songs on it.

i can't burn cd's in iTunes anymore. I get error code 4450 when I'm trying to burn a playlist. Songs from my own cd's, or bought in iTunes (have not burned 7x's as I can't BURN any cd's at all!),  Then my cd gets stuck in the drive. and it says "cancelling burn" forever and then itunes freezes up. I have a Dell with Windows 7.
-I've slowed down the burn as slow as it can go
-I have bought 3 different brands of cd's
-i have the latest version of iTunes.
    Can someone help me?

I have Windows 7 on a Dell.  Open and play iTunes in the compatability mode and use Windows XP (service pack 2).  Disregard any messsages to disable the compability mode.  This has worked for me.  I have also reinstalled iTunes and played with burn speeds etc.  These ideas did not work.  Compatability mode works.

  • Disc Icon has padlock, and won't open, How do I unlock it?

I have 4 internal Hard drives and two external drives. I had to re-install my Mac OS 10.6.8. Now on of the Internal drives and one of the external (the one that contains my Time Machine Backups) have a padlock on the desktop icon. I get the message "The folder "___" can't be opened because you don't have permission tp see its contents". In the "Get Info" window, It doesn't matter whether the "Ignore ownrship on this volume" is checked or not. Under "Sharing & Permissions", it says "You have custom access". All of the Account Names say "Custom" under "Privilege", and can't be changed. What is going on, and how do I fix it?

  • Disc won't eject, screen acting up

I don't know if this is a bi-product of my disc not ejecting, but when i restart my screen is just a gray color for a long period of time. I only recently got back to the main desktop. I have a blank disc in the drive, that won't eject. I have tried about every way possible to get the stupid thing out, but it won't eject. If anyone can explain the gray screen or why I can't get my disc out, please help. THanks.

    Hi tuckershort,
I think your mac sees the cd and tries to boot from it, since it can't find a system on that cd it gets stuck on the grey screen.
I know you mentioned "I have tried about every way possible to get the stupid thing out" but can you be more specific as to what methods you tried ?
Unplugging usb keyboard and mouse, then holding down the trackpad mousebutton while booting should eject it.
If that doesn't work i read a while ago that carefully inserting a creditcard into the slot and pressing down on the disk gently, then holding the mouse button while booting, should work.

  • CD is stuck and won't load or eject, what should I do?

I inserted a cd into my macbook and it won't load and won't eject. It just keeps making the noise like it's trying to load. I tried turning my computer on and off but that didn't help. Any suggestions?
    thanks

Turn off your computer then on startup hold down on the trackpad.

  • Kodak photo cd not seen, won't eject

Hi using a Ti 667 with a combo drive. Installed a Kodak picture cd, it didn't show on desktop and won't eject? Any ideas what I can do other than; the eject button, drive utility eject isn't highlighted, there is no emergency eject? Help! Thanks!

Holding down the trackpad button is a hardware command that doesn't involve the OS and should be executed before the OS begins to load. If it isn't working, that suggests that your optical drive isn't getting any power, and that in turn suggests that its flex cable's connection to the logic board is loose. I would remove the bottom cover from the Tibook, discconnect and firmly reconnect the ribbon cable to the LB, replace the bottom cover, and test again by starting up while holding down the trackpad button. If you still get no reaction, the optical drive is dead or its cable is bad, and one or the other needs to be replaced.

  • I have a 24 bit external DAC/ Amplifier connected to the optical output on my new iMac. I just upgraded to Yosemite and noticed instead of 96000 hz output it has gone down to 41000hz and won't allow me to adjust this anymore with the new OS upgrade.

Hi as stated above, when i updated my OS system to Yosemite, i am no longer able to select audio quality above 41000hz. how can i fix this? ps i am connected to an external dad through optical which supports unto 96000hz.

Wow that was really quick, thank you so much.  Im not sure at all which version it was because i said it was around 4 years ago he bought it.  I know it isn't under his username, since he's a PC person (ugh) so i know its probably registered to one of our actual names.  isn't there some way to look it up since we did register it, because I'm not even sure where the disks are from when we bought it (we've moved a lot and also have two storage lockers, i know i would have kept it with other disks) but my cd rom drive is actually broken on my computer as well ( i think it got stepped on and is now squished and won't eject or run disks.)
So is there anyway they can look up that its registered to one of our names since we did register it when we bought and installed it, or do i really have to find the disk with some sort of proof of purchase (i know there would be no receipt after all this time)
either way, ill do what you suggested to the best of my abilities and thank you so much for answering my questions, i can't even open the program as its incompatible and find out the info from that) so I'm in a bit of a pickle and your response was so thorough and it didn't seem to be posted long enough to even write a well researched response, thanks, all the best,
    sarucia
