Disc stuck in drive, tried every thing

This isn't a mechanical problem, I can hear the computer trying to read the disc.
When I restart the computer and hold the mouse button it just tries to read the disc for hours...
Even if I restart the computer and don't hold the mouse button, it just sits there, it doesn't even load OS X or display the folder with a question mark.
I'm short of time now, I'll post more details later...
Any help is appreciated

OK I have more time now...
I tried to install Vista on my 2.0 Ghz Core Duo 2 Macbook, when I inserted the disc nothing out of the norm' happened. Every thing sounded completely normal.
When I reset the computer, it just hangs, trying to read the disc. I have even let it sit for hours.
Now It's stuck in the drive and the computer won't boot-up. It's not a mechanical problem, because I can hear the disc spinning and the laser moving, as if it's scanning the whole disc. I've tried every thing to get it out of the drive. Even holding down the mouse button, to removing the HDD and installing another OS on it from another computer. It seems to be simply ignoring me when I press the eject button.
Am I gonna have to take it apart or some thing?
'Cause I really don't wanna do that...
Oh and sorry for double posting.
I can't seem to find the edit button again...

So now it is on a screen with a UBS cord and a iTunes logo on it and will not go away . I tried every thing. I love this phone because is and iPod to me.
    PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

Connect it to the computer you usually sync with and use
iTunes on that computer to restore the iPhone. You will need
to have a sim in the iPhone for the restore to complete. The sim
does not have to be from an active account, but it does have to
be from the wireless provider the iPhone is locked to - if it is locked.

A "clicking noise" is often a sign that a hard drive is malfunctioning. Suggest that you power down the device and take it to an Apple store to have them take a look, or contact Customer Service at Apple for instructions.

You have posted to the iTunes Match forum, which your question does not seem to be related to. Is your question concerning iTunes Match or syncing with iTunes via USB?

Not able to acess app store .. Tried every thing with ... Dns change .. Time chage.... Reset... Location services .suggest me how to resolve this issue

    Hi aditya123,
If you are having difficulty connecting to the App store from your iPhone, you may want to try the steps in this article -
Can't connect to the iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1368
    Specifically -
Troubleshoot issues on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: Time Zone may list another city in your time zone.
Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by tapping Settings > General > Software Update (iOS 5 or later) or connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking Check for Update on your device's Summary page.
Check and verify that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're on a device with cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
Note: If connected to cellular data, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
Make sure that you have an active Internet connection. You can check the user guide for your device for help with connecting to the Internet.
Make sure that other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router.
If the issue persists, try troubleshooting your Wi-Fi networks and connections.
It looks like you have already done many of these, but there are a few more to check out.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

    Japib is correct.
    WHAT happens? Exactly.
Also helpful would be to tell what event preceded this behavior - added App, update iOS, etc.

Turn your phone off and connect your cable to the computer, but not the device just yet. Start up iTunes. Now, hold down the home button on your phone and plug it in to the cable - don't let go of the button until iTunes tells you it's detected a phone in recovery mode. Now you can restore to factory settings.
Unfortunately, the data on your phone is already gone if you're seeing the connect to iTunes logo.

  • Install disc stuck in drive...tried everything.

Okay so I have a white MacBook that I'm trying to upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard. It's on the latest version of Leopard, 10.5.8.
So I have a family pack DVD for Snow Leopard that's got 2 installs left on it. So I decided to go ahead and use one on my MacBook. I put the disc in the drive and I could hear it spinning around in there. But then nothing. My computer won't even read it. It doesn't show up on the desktop, it doesn't show up in disk utility, and pressing the eject button on my keyboard does nothing, like it doesn't even TRY to eject it. I've tried the reboot + holding down the trackpad, it did nothing. I tried typing drutil tray eject in terminal to force it to eject, it also did nothing. It's not like theres anything thats really stopping it from coming out, it literally just won't even attempt to eject the disc.
It seems like my computer isn't even recognizing theres anything in the drive, the fact that it doesn't even show up in disk utility is worrying me. I've used this drive with other discs before, but never had this problem. Help.

here are all the methods I am aware of to force eject a stuck cd/dvd:
First try the normal methods to remove the disc. Drag its icon to the Trash can in the Dock or select 'Eject' from the File menu.
If you are running a virtual machine, e.g. VMFusion, ensure that the CD is disconnected from the virtual machine. This will sometimes allow the CD to now show up in Mac OS X.
Shut down the computer and start up whilst holding down the mouse button. This may take some time, but keep your finger on the mouse button right up until the disc comes out or the log-in screen has appeared.
If you have Toast Titanium installed on your computer, choose EJECT DISC from the menubar.
Sometimes you can successfully use the eject disc button in iTunes even if the disc is not visible to the Finder
Open Disk Utility and choose the disc you wish to eject in the left-hand pane, then click on the Eject button.
Some Macintoshes have a paperclip hole that you can insert a straightened paperclip into, manually triggering the eject mechanism.
Open Terminal and type "drutil tray eject" to eject the disc/tray, and "drutil tray close" to close the tray.
Restart the computer while holding down Command-Option-O-F, to enter the Open Firmware prompt. Type "eject cd" without the quotes, and press return. The disk ought to eject. To start into OS X, type "mac-boot" without the quotes. Press return, and the computer will continue with the startup. (This will not work on an Intel Mac. There is no Open Firmware on Intel Macs. )
If your computer has an eject button on the keyboard, restart the computer holding down the Option key. When the startup disk selection screen appears, let go of the option key and press the keyboard's eject button.

Hi. Ejecting a stuck disk in my MacBook has been a bane for me often, and more recently last night. You are probably aware of the many ways to eject a disk, but I'll list them here as well. In desperation I managed to discover another method this morning...!
These methods are listed in order of first use, all the way up to deperate measures:
    1. press the eject button on the keyboard
    2. drag the disk to the trash
    3. if it is a movie I am playing, then I can press eject on the DVD control. But you must have stopped the play of the DVD.
    4. click on the disk icon on the desktop and then go to File, select eject disk
    5. click on the disk icon and then press the Apple key and "E"
    6. go to Disk Utility, click on the disk you want to eject, and eject it
    7. reboot MacBook and before the grey screen appears make sure you are holding down the Trackpad Button. This method can be useful for disks not mounted; so can point 8.
    8. Resetting the PRAM. Shutdown, and before startup, press the following buttons: P, R, Option, Apple key.
    9. if you are technically minded you can open Terminal and type in the following: "hdiutil eject -force /dev/disk1" Replace the word "disk1" with the name of the offending disk
I do each of the above, hoping that one of them will work. However, on this occasion none of them worked. This last method is unorthodox, but hey, it worked!
    10. Carefully and slowly tilt the MacBook till the disk drive is pointing down, so that gravity may assist a disk to leave. Then click one on the many eject methods.
    It worked for me!
Hope one of the above works for you.
    PS.
I should probably still get Apple to have a look at my MacBook though...
    MacBook, 2 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

  • Snow Leopard disc stuck in drive on Mac Mini

I tried to install Snow Leopard on my Mac Mini, before I realised it does not have enough memory to run it. So after the language screen I get a restart or restore option, as I have no back up installed the restart is the option, but with the SL disc in it just goes back through the install process.
How do I eject the disc?
I've tried holding down down the optino key during start up and that has no impact, any other ideas
    Thanks in advance

Are you using an Apple-branded keyboard & mouse? Are they connected wirelessly?
The procedure normally works, but you may need to do the following:
    1. Press & hold the power button on the back of the Mini until it shuts down.
    2. After a brief pause, press & release the power button to start up the Mini.
    3. Immediately press & hold the keyboard eject key or the main mouse button until the disc ejects.
Note that at startup time the keys or buttons will be the defaults for the devices, so if you have used any system preferences or third party driver software to change them (say, to remap the mouse buttons), you cannot use those changes.
Some third party devices don't work for this, especially wireless ones. If the above doesn't help, you may need to buy or borrow a wired keyboard or mouse.

  • OSX disc stuck in drive whilst installing bootcamp.

I just did the stupidest thing I could have possibly done.
I took my Snow Leopard OSX disc that came with my Mac (I'm running SL don't worry), and put it in my cd drive and ran boot camp assistant, then partitioned 40GB of the drive for windows.  After that it said to insert my windows CD and click install.
I FORGOT TO take out the SL disc and put in a windows disc when I hit install.
It restarted my computer and went to a black DOS like screen telling me this.
"No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key"
It won't let me eject the SL disc, and every time I shut down and restart it goes back to this screen.  I'm stuck!!!!
I'm using my gf's mac book pro to create this thread, I hope it finds someone.

First, to get out of that screen, turn off the computer. Then, turn it on and hold the Option (Alt) key until you see a cursor in the screen. After that, choose Macintosh HD to start into OS X.
After starting into OS X, eject your DVD, and open Boot Camp Assistant to remove the Windows volume. Finally, open System Preferences > Startup Disk, and choose "Macintosh HD", so your computer will always start into OS X

  • DVD disc stuck in drive

Operating system not installing. The dvd is stuck in the drive. What method to use to eject the dvd from the drive? Have tried holding down the mouse, this has been ok in the past but, not on this occasion!
    Any takers?
    Kind regards,
    mflick

Here's an excerpt from an Apple article that might help:
The drive doesn't eject discs or discs eject slowly
If the drive ejects discs slowly or appears to be struggling, insert and eject a single disc several times.
If the drive does not eject discs using the F12 or eject key on the keyboard.
If the disc will not eject try dragging the disc icon to the trash.
If the disc will still not eject, holding down the trackpad or mouse button after restarting the computer should also eject a disc.
If the disc continues not to eject, reset the Power Manager (PMU) or System Management Controller (SMC) and try steps 1-4 again.
If the disc still does not eject, for additional troubleshooting, evaluation, or service please contact Apple, contact an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or make an appointment with an Apple Retail Store.
