Disc that needs flash player won't work

I have a disc that goes with my textbook for class that
requires the use of the flash player. I bought a new computer for
school that has Windows Vista. I installed the flash player 9, but
the disc still won't play. The flash player works for sites on the
internet, but not for the disc. I tried it on an older computer
that had flash player 7 and it worked fine. But, I heard the Flash
Player 7 won't work with Vista. Is there anything that I can do
about this. Buying a computer was a waste of money if I can't use
it for school - which is why I bought it.

Hi Andy, that is correct, they don't support PPC Macs anymore.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/865/cpsid_86551.html#prob1=uninst,os=m10.6,
Download this if you haven't...
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/installers/archive/fp10.1.102.6 4_and_9.0.289.0archive.zip
Once downloaded if it doesn't unzip automatically the double click on that file.
Look for the fp10.1.102.64_and_9.0.289.0archive folder, open it, look for the Flash Player 10.1.102.64 folder & open and look for 101r10264 folder & open it, double click on the flashplayer101r102_64_ubmac.dmg file, choose the Install Adobe Flash Player file to install... they don't make it easy!

I'm sorry. I was hoping it would work for you. I have to delete it about
once a day and reinstall it. It is really getting on my nerves. You are
talking about deleting and reinstalling right? Sorry I'm not in the forum
I'm just replying from my e-mail.

  • Flash player won't work after a successful download

    About my Mac:
    OS X version 10.8.4
    1.3 GHz
    Safari: version 6.0.5
I have installed and unistalled flash player several times, and even restarted my computer. I followed all the steps to do so correctly, but the Flash Player won't work at all. Youtube and other websites give me error messages when I try to watch a video. They say "missing plug-in".
I really can't seem to find the problem.
(For what this info is worth: I just got my computer a couple days ago)

How to perform a "clean install" of Flash Player in Mac OS X
    Give that a shot.

    Hi juderocks14,
Please first take a check with the other Players and see if they could play the MP4 file normally. If it can't be played, which means it might be corrupted. You may ask at the Bandicam side, or save the files again.
If issue insists, take a try with the Troubleshooter (For Windows 7, 8 and 8.1):
Open the Windows Media Player Settings troubleshooter
Fix Windows Media Player video, and other media or library issues
Or you may try to turn Windows Features on or off to reset Windows  Media Player:
Turn Windows features on or off (Before turn it on again, please remember to reboot first)

What happens if I turn off Windows Media Player?

Keep getting a message over and over that Adobe Flash Player has stopped working.   Uninstalled and then reinstalled. Did not help.

    Hi ebombardi,
Have you looked at our [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-crashes-or-flash-plugin-crashes Flash plugin troubleshooting section]? There is a lot of useful information in there that should help you get to the bottom of your issue.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • HT5271 Downloaded latest Apple updates that informed me old versions of Adobe Flash Player were disabled and advised me to go to Adobe and down load latest version of Flash Player. Did that, but Flash Player won't play swf files, which it did before.

Downloaded latest Safari update that informed me that older versions of Adobe Flash Player were being disabled and then advised me to go to Adobe and down load latest version of Flash Player. Did that, but Flash Player won't play swf files, which it did before. (Instead of opening, it comes up as a page of code).

    Hi..
    Quit Safari.
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
    Click:  Delete All
    Now select the Storage tab.
    Click Delete All
    Relaunch Safari to test.

  • IE 11--Flash Player won't work

I have just installed Internet explorer 11, and my flash player won't work.  I have uninstalled and re-installed it,  and unchecked Active-X, and enabled shockwave.   Any suggestions please?????

I could not get this problem solved.  Uninstalled IE 11, and reinstalled IE9, and things are working fine.

  • Now that I have installed OSX Lion, my flash player won't work.

After I installed OSX Lion a few days ago my flash player suddenly stopped working. It won't let me update (it says I have the newest version) and when say, I try to watch a YouTube video a little box comes up over the player with settings and the "allow" button but no matter if I use the trackpad or the keyboard I can't select anything.
It's getting really annoying because I can't play games, watch videos or video share online anymore and I have no idea how to fix it.
Is it just something that will be stuck until Adobe releases a version that isn't beta for OSX 10.7?

This allows me to watch videos which is great but still when I try to play any flash games or enable a webcam on something other than iChat, Skype or Photobooth the dialog box comes up and even using tab and space bar like Adobe suggests doesn't seem to work. :-/
Glad to be able to watch videos again though

  • Adobe Flash Player Won't work!

I am trying to use Adobe Flash Player on my account on me and my brother's computer. We have Windows 7. My brother's account's Flash Player works fine on his, but my account, no matter what I do, won't let player work. I thought it had something to do with our antivirus program, Kaspersky PURE 3.0, but turning it off or temporarily disabling it doesn't seem to help at all. Please help me ASAP, thanks!

Sorry I didn't explain that. "Won't Work" means that when I try to play a game on the internet that uses Flash Player, it won't start (usually just has a black window where the game should start up).

  • Flash Player won't work on any browser! Help!

    Hi!
I can't get any videos to play in any browser (Internet explorer, Chrome or Firefox). I can only play videos from Youtube and Netflix but no other videos or rich media content works.
I have literally tried everything that is recommended on the Flash Player Help page.
I've updated and re-installed Flash Player a million times.
I've updated and re-installed all my web browsers.
    I enabled and disabled Active-X.
I enabled Flash Player on Chrome through chrome://plugins
    I disabled background apps.
    I turned off my firewall.
    I checked for viruses.
And I googled the problem on a ton of other sites, followed other users' instructions to fix the issue, and still no luck.
    This is my system:
    Windows 8
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3317U CPU @ 1.7GHz 1.70GHz
64-bit Operating System x64 based processor.
I need Flash Player to do assignments online and I haven't been able to do them all week. Please help ASAP!
    Thank you!

As above, have gone through a number of browsers and tried all of the fixes listed on any webpage I can find. Always the same outcome, video plays for a few minutes (occasionally seconds) and then green screen/jumbled audio
Have tried Chrome, IE, Firefox and Opera, all with the same results.
Laptop is brand spanking new, out of the box less than two days, so far I've only installed the latest Nvidia drivers 347.09 and Avast.
    System is:
    Asus ROG G751JT
    Windows 8.1 (fully updated)
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4710HQ CPU @ 2.5GHz 2.49GHz
    16gb RAM
    Nvidia GTX 970m

  • Flash Player won't work following malware removal - help!

I removed some malware using malwarebytes, which I thought was the end of my problem, but in fact it has opened up a bigger one, in that Flash Player has stopped working.  I've tried uninstalling and re-installing - now have version 10.2.153.1 - but no success.  Kids didn't mind when they couldn't access their online homework; not so happy now they can't play their games either.  I've looked at other discussions for a solution, but nothing quite fits this problem.  Any help gratefully accepted.
I can follow instructions but I'm not techie, so any replies need to be idiot-friendly, thanks.

Have just spotted your post about the "kill-bit" http://forums.adobe.com/message/3432049#3432049 - sounds remakably like my problem so will check it out when I get home this evening.  Just one question though - is there any point in first trying to do a system restore to a point prior to the malware removal, or would I be wasting my time?

  • Flash player won't work  Win7 IE8

Apart from not being able to download flash-player from the Adobe Downloads section (for some reason I don't get a prompt to download it at http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer). Flash player itself doesn't seem to be working correctly.
I have downloaded install_flash_player_ax.exe from a direct link on one of these forum discussions. I once had adobe flash-player installed (or so I thought that it was installed) however it appeared to be incapable of working (on some webpages I see a "broken" red x icon); so I uninstalled it. Now that I reinstalled it  (disabling Norton) it does the same thing: "broken" image. I checked in control panel>programs & features and it did indeed say that Adobe Flash PLayer 10 ActivX was installed.
Note: I did uninstall it with uninstall_flash_player.exe and rebooted the computer

Thanks again. I just did a quick review of Spybot and they say there should not be any incompatibility issues with Norton.
Then I did a Search trying to see if Spybot have an Anti-Virus component which would conflict with Norton. They categorize a Trojan as included as Spyware and some AV's call it a Virus. The terms sort of blend as to the definitions of each type of Malware.
The S&D Helper is sort of difficult to explain. It comes with Spybot, but many users turn it off since it's hard to understand and pops up alerts very frequently. I haven't used it in a few years so can't say if it still has that annoying habit:-)
Something is blocking the FP ActiveX Control that we know. I know the Administrator Account needs to be used and normally you would receive a message from Adobe Flash Player if that was the issue.
Did you Disable Norton this way?
Right Click and Open Norton. Turn off Smart Firewall and Auto Protect
Under Miscellaneous Settings, Disable Norton Product Tamper Protection
    1- Open IE 8. Goto Tools -> Manage Add-ons.
    2- Disable the following:
    -Norton Toolbar
    -Symantec NCO BHO
    -Symantec Intrusion Prevention (IPS)
Did you have the same Anti-Virus programs when you updated Flash Player prior to this latest version? Did you have any problems as you are having now?
Since something is blocking that ActiveX Control and we can pretty much rule out Administrator and Kill-bit, then Anti-Virus or Malware are about the only 2 things that could be involved.
    Is your System a 32bit or 64bit? If it's a 64bit are you using the 32bit browser?
    Thanks,
    eidnolb

  • Upgraded to firefox 6 and flash player won't work

I've finally upgraded to Firefox 6, after much much hesitation, and now certain sites built in Flash won't work. They work just great in Safari. The upgrade to the latest Flash player worked for Safari, but not Firefox. I've updated the Shockwave player.
No matter how many times I download and install the newest player and restart my browser, it still tells me I have to download and install the newest flash player and restart my browser.
Even Firefox 5 doesn't want to work with Flash...

Download Adobe Flash Player installer 10.3.183.7 (2.94 MB)
    * http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
    * '''When Downloading Plugins Update setup files, Remove Checkmark from Downloading other Optional Softwares with your Plugins (e.g. Toolbars, McAfee, Google Chrome, etc.)'''
    * Close Firefox (click '''Firefox''' button and click '''Exit''')
    * Open the '''install_flash_player.exe''' file, then follow the installer's instructions.
-> Start Firefox in Safe Mode by Holding down the '''Option''' key while starting your Mozilla Firefox application. (If the Profile Manager opens, select a profile and then hold down the '''Option''' key again while clicking the button to start Firefox.)
    * As an alternate method, go to Utilities (in the Applications folder) and open Terminal, then run:
    ** /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -safe-mode
-> Firefox Safe Mode window will appear -> DON'T SELECT ANY OPTIONS, just click '''Continue in Safe Mode'''
-> go to a website that uses Flash player:
    * http://www.youtube.com/
    * http://movies.yahoo.com/
Check and tell if its working while you are Browsing in Firefox Safe Mode.
