I hope someone can help me. I have a cd stuck in the slot and the machine is trying to eject it but its not happening! Any suggestions please? Vincent

Old MacBook pro - late model 2006 (Caore 2 Duo, 3 GB RAM).
Just put in a new HD after old one died.
doing a clean load of software as the old HD was dying during my last backup and backup failed (wonderful...)
Has been running on Leopard, but wanted to upgrade to Lion, so just used Snow Leopard disc to upgrade to that first. Got to around 20% done and screen went back. Fan is running (loud), hard to tell if disc spinning. Left for hours and nothing. Powered off, pulled battery etc, nothing. Power up, still black screen and loud fan. Disc wont eject!!
Ideas on my next move?

Clean Install of Snow Leopard
     1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc. Insert the disc into the
         optical drive and restart the computer. After the chime press and hold down the
         "C" key. Release the key when you see a small spinning gear appear below the
         dark gray Apple logo.
     2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
         button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
         After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
         size.) Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. Set the number of
         partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, set the format type to Mac
         OS Extended (Journaled, if supported), then click on the Partition button.
     3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed
         with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
     4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
         Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
         username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
         Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
         install of OS X. You can now begin the update process by opening Software
         Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.

Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
      left mouse button until the disc ejects.
2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
4. Press COMMAND-E.
5. If none of the above work try this: Open the Terminal application in
      your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
        /usr/bin/drutil eject
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into Single-user Mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.

It sounds like you've experienced a "kernel panic".

This is highly important. I know the number from which the voicemail arrived, but have not been able to figure out how to retrieve it. I accidentally had the voicemail in the Deleted Messages folder, and then Cleared this folder. If there is any possible way I might be able to retrieve this message, even if there is a cost associated with it, please help me.

I am having the same issue. When I try to update my payment information I receive an error that states, "We're sorry, something seems to be wrong on our end. Please try again later.
After Adobe's servers were breached I received a phonecall from my bank, stating that someone had used my credit card at a hotel in Mexico (I live in Ohio). You could check to see if there are any other stores that you can buy the song from. How about the artist's website? I've bought a couple of MP3s and even CDs from Australian artist's websites.

What problems are you having ? You should be able to sync photos by connecting and selecting your iPad on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and on the right-hand side there should be a series of tabs, one of which should be Photos - if you select that tab you can then select which photo folders (or iPhoto albums/events) to sync to the iPad. There is a bit more info on this page. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync.

Disc wont eject - still booting though

i have a disc that wont eject. its a region 1 dvd and my player is region 2, i don;t want to change the region as its the last time i can do this so i clicked cancel and tried to eject. it makes the eject noise, then the sucking back in noise. then dvd player starts up again and it asks me to change region, i click cancel and the loop starts over.
i have tried:
eject with disc utility - same eject and suck noise
hold mouse on start up - same eject and suck noise
eject when tilted upside down and 45 deg down - same
the computer is not trying to boot from the dvd, so it starts up fine, so just leaving it doesn't eject like i have read on support forums. as it is starting up fine i have not tried the bit of card inside to stop it spinning trick.
so, any suggestions?

Create a burn folder, put some data in it and press 'burn'. The disc will eject. Then, just cancel the burn.

a couple of days ago i tried to burn a cd from a playlist. i put in what i thought was a blank cd but apparently it was not. i tried to eject it but it wont. i tried every possible way that the book suggest to do but no success. all i get is the colored spinning wheel then i am unable to do anything but shut it down from the back power button and try again with no luck. any suggestions?

Laptop wont eject cd/dvd

I just bought my g4-2149se from wal-mart and It wont eject my cd with the botton, nor when i go to the drive and select eject. It gives me an error message. Any help? or should I just take it back to wal-mart?

I guess if you just bought it, I would take it back but look for a small hold in the front of the DVD that you can stick a paper clip sized wire into. That is made so you can manually eject a DVD. Because the problem is not just getting a DVD out and doesn't really respond. I think you should return it.

IMac wont load install DVD 10.5 on iMac g4

I have older iMac g4, which i've kept for design-reasons - its nice to look at.
I bought it as demo-model from a dealer when the model just had gone out of production.
It runs OSX 10.3.9.
I wanted to upgrade to 10.5, so I bought an original second-hand DVD;
"MAC OS Leopard - Install DVD - Version 10.5 - 2Z691-6037-A" (black-blue color; NOT grey)
It wont load at all. It just runs in the drive for 10 - 15 seconds and then autoejects. Same thing if I restart pressing "c". At no time does the disc appear on the desktop or a start window opens. Just nothing.
The CD drive works ok - can read and burn.
I tried to start the Install DVD in the new iMac and the iBook; both macs can read the dvd and opens the install window.
What should I do ?

It sounds like a problem with the Mac not being able to read the disc rather than the disc being an upgrade-only edition etc as it won't even read it - do other DVDs (not just CDs, as sometimes a drive will partly die and be able to read CDs but not DVDs, or vice versa) definitely work in the drive?
I think a few of the early iMac G4s came with only a CD-RW drive ie not compatible with DVDs at all, so again testing another DVD will show if you have one of those. If this is the case you could try using Target mode to install using the DVD drive in another Mac, if you don't want to replace/upgrade the drive in the G4.

That's very strange. See if clearing the cache in Safari will make it work. I'll include the steps below. If that doesn't help, install a different browser, such as Opera, to see if that will print from pages that Safari won't. If it will, then something is wrong with Safari. If it doesn't print, then the web pages might have printing blocked. There are sites that are doing that for copyright reasons. Let me know what you find.
To clear the cache on Safari:
Open Settings.
Select Safari
Touch Clear Cache.
Select Clear.
Touch Clear Cookies.
Select Clear.
Touch Clear History.
Select Clear.

If you haven't backed up /imported the photos, it's most likely you can't access that data. Passwords/code are made for security, remember them in the future.
You could try importing photos using
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
You can use
iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode
to restore the device, but everything that hasn't been backed up(purchases excluded) will be lost.
After restoring, you can redownload your purchases using this:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
