Wow, that solved this problem. I had 5 GB of systemd logs. I deleted them (after making a backup on another disk), I limited the journal size to only 50MB, and now NetworkManager only lasts 4 seconds to start, and GDM appears 10 seconds earlier. Thanks a lot

  • MSI GT70 20C WIN 8.1 UPGRADE ISSUES!!!!

Hello everyone  A bit of a quagmire here.  I have a new MSI GT70 20C.  It is an awesome gaming machine to say the least.  I decided to choose the best of two evils and decided to upgrade to WIN 8.1.....
    Here is the issue:
    1:Uninstalled the old Killer E2200 LAN/WLAN/BT 4.0 Drivers.
2:Installed the new Drivers provided by MSI and all work except LAN.
3:Uninstalled everything and tried again but this time noticed that when device manager is open and installing the driver pack, the device manager refreshed about 10 times or so and it is all fine until after the program says to reboot then the LAN is not working again.  I proceeded to uninstall and re-install this time to cancel the install as I realized that there is something in the driver pack that is conflicting with windows during the install process. I restarted the system and now it all works.
This is not just a request for assistance from support but also a really strange assist.  Please respond if anyone encounters the same situation.

I've got the newer/newest gt70 dominator pro, which came with windows 8.1 installed.
So I don't have the same issue as you.
But with killer and drivers for it, ive had nothing but problems.
As of right now, I deleted the killer suite and only have drivers installed. The LAN driver in my device manager shows the yellow exclamation mark, but it works. So that's where I am and that's where im choosing to stay.
I will end up, and soon, getting an intel wireless card, but not sure if you can replace the lan as I think that might be part of the board.

  • MSI Hybrid Power Utility - MSI GT70 20C

    MSI GT70 20C-059US
When I click on the Hybrid Power desktop icon nothing happens. I no longer get the interface to appear like it does before updating everything. I have installed the newer firmware and bios. Everything appears to be stable at this time but I cannot get the utility to run even after reinstalling it.
If I right click on it, I get options to run it with graphics cards but when I do it tells me to open nVidia control panel.
Is there some thing that could effect it from working that I inadvertently changed?
    Thank you for your time.

I've run into this same problem on my GT70 20D just two days ago. I tried reinstalling it as well but nothing seems to be working. Anybody have any ideas?

  • MSI GT70 20C WIN 8.1 - Slowness - Suicidal

Ever since I've upgraded to Window 8.1 from Window 8 my GT70 20C is never the same.  I bought this laptop for gaming but since my window 8.1 update I've been having the following problems:
    - Slow start up (please wait.... for 10+ Min)
    - Slow turn off time.  Screen will be off but you can hear the fan and see the processing light flashing
    - If computer is idle for 10 min, it automatically turns into sleep mode and it takes about 20 min or so to log back in
    - While playing Left 4 Dead 2 - my mouse skips and have no control for for brief 1 second every other 20 seconds or so
    - Adobe photoshop - Start up used to be fast less than 7 second to start on the first time but takes longer now
I've download the latest video card driver and there is no help.  I've uninstall Norton Anti-Virus and there is no help.  I've deleted my first account and created a new one that didn't help.  I've changed microsoft login to local login still didn't help.  The most painful part is turning on and off the computer and when idle more than 10min the computer goes to sleep by itself and it wakes up when it wants to... I had to hold the power bottom down to do a force start every time.
I've read many different blogs and I can't find a way to go back to Window 8.  I never receive a window 8 disk which I thought it should come with the purchase and I didn't even have a product serial key on the bottom of my computer so I can reformat everything back to Window 8.
I am seriously thinking about to sell this laptop and just build a desktop and install window 7.
    Please HELP!

MSI didn't give me a copy of Window 8 - what do I do?
I upgraded from XP to Window 8.1 - Do you like Window 7 better?  I never used 7 before but I heard it's the closest thing to XP.  any1?
What do you download with that 100MB+ speed?  hahahah
There should be an option to rollback to w8.
Windows 8 has proved to deliver more gaming performance than w7 on the same hardware. If you use this laptop for gaming, then don't go to w7. Especially if you are playing Bf4 or any game that gets use of dx11.1

  • MSI GT70-20C Optimal Fan speed

I have a question about my fan speed. When my laptop is on normal-i am not working on it, the temperature is 39c on the one core and something like 43 on the other. My fan speed on normal is from 1890 to 1930 RPM.Is this normal? Cuz i hear my laptop a little bit noisy, and i think 2 months ago it wasn't like this. Btw, i formatted my laptop 2 weeks ago, and its still the same-before and after it.Please share an opinions, how your laptop is doing... i will be grateful.

How are you liking it so far?
Just got mine, I've had and gone through 7 Asus g750 models. Starting with jw, then jm, then js, then jz. Had cpu thermal throttling on all of them. So now I switched to msi, gave up high cpu and low gpu temps for low cpu and high gpu temps. But I knew this before coming to msi. I render and edit 4k video, the cpu thermal throttle spikes, result in a glitch during that part of the final movie, when this happens over and over through the whole rendering process, the whole final video is poop. Asus final result was to tell me that I should be happy to get turbo, but to run stock without turbo boost aka 2.4ghz. I told them no freakin way am I running 2.4ghz, that's not acceptable, goodbye.
    And now hello, msi.
Overall, asus vs msi, still blow for blow just as nice. But I will say I have no regrets coming to the GT70, fan noise a little loud while gaming, im not used to that. But I don't game much.

Based on your dump file, there are many different system crash.
Did you do any self-upgrade to the unit? (for example adding SSDs) If so, change back to the original setting and do the system restore.
Have you create a recovery disk before? If so, I'll suggest you re-install the system using the recovery disk and update all drivers from MSI website.(you'll need to download each one of them and install one on one)
What version of windows 8 have you installed? 32bits or 64bits?

  • Instalación 2 discos duros en Y50-70

    Hola,

    Google translation
How I can export all events from iphoto to an external hard drive?
That dependes on the details - what version of iPhoto do you have? what exactly do you want to do?
For iPhoto '11 one of the export options is to keep the event structure during export
Or if you want to use iPhoto on a different system simply Connect the two Macs together (network, firewire target mode, etc)  or use an external hard drive formed Mac OS extended (journaled) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac - launch iPhoto on the new mac and it will open the library and convert it as needed and you will be ready move forward.
Please give the details fo what yo have and exactly what you wnat to accomplish

  • MSI GT70 2PC-1044US - HDMI / GPU / FAN issues

    MSI GT70 2PC-1044US - HDMI / GPU / FAN issues
I am having trouble with my HDMI port on a brand new MSI GT70 2PC-1044US . Whenever I plug my HDMI cable from my notebook to the TV, after a few minutes (5 - 20 minutes), my fan will start reving at around 5k RPMs and sounds like a jet engine. When this happens, according to MSI Dragon Gaming Center tool/monitor, the GPU temp reading hits 255 degrees Celsius, which is clearly a glitch. I used another monitor, msi afterburner, and when this HDMI problem happens, this tool reads a normal 40 degrees Celsius.
Here are the things I have tried so far but the problem keeps reoccurring:
    1. Called MSI tech support, sent me the link to the newest BIOS and updated it
    2. Called MSI tech support again, claimed the HDMI is controlled by the intel graphic controller, and they recommended that i update intel drivers (every software tool on my notebook says it's the NVIDIA GPU that controls the HDMI port /shrug???), so i did this as well.
    3. Called MSI teck support again, they suggested I send the notebook back to MSI so they could take a look at the hardware. I did not do this because I did not trust the tech guy and did not want to wait a few weeks to get my notebook back
    4. Luckily, the store I bought my notebook at was nice enough to replace my notebook for a new one. I got home, tested it, and the same thing happened. So I think we eliminated faulty hardware.
So now what? What else can I try?

have you done EC reset? https://forum-en.msi.com/faq/article/how-to-reset-the-ec-embedded-controller
can you try to plug the HDMI into your dell screen[insteal of sharp TV] to check if the same issue will hapends?
Install latest Intel GPU drivers from: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/graphics
    then retest
-Yes, I did the full EC reset. Once the EC flash was done, I removed the power cord from the back and the battery and let it sit for a few minutes before restarting.
    - My Dell monitor is old, and does not have an HDMI port, but I will try a different cable on a different TV.
-I already have the most recent intel graphic controller drivers, this one of the things the MSI tech support guys asked me to do by phone

  • SSD Install on GT70 20C-408US

I've looked everywhere and can't find info on what I can and can't do with HDD and SSD.   The GT70 20C-408US comes with a 1TB 7200 rpm HDD.  This is the limiting factor for games.  I'm trying to determine if I can install an additional SSD to support games, or if I can only support one drive.
    Thank you for any assistance!

Just bought my GT70 2Oc-408US the other day; called MSI technical support, asked them about replacing the HDD with a SSD and if it would void any warranty. The Agent for MSI assured me that the Warranty would stay intact, and then directed me to a MSI website which had instructional videos on replacing the HDD.  Watched the video, replacement instructions were straight forward. I had pre-ghosted the SSD, so the replacement went very smooth.
Ran the Windows Experience Index [Windows 7 OS], came up as 7.7; I am happy!!!
