Disconnected while updating iTouch

My iTouch disconnected from my computer while i was updating version v3 to the next v3. My connection was lost after previous software was removed and now on my screen is only the 'apple' icon and an empty load bare underneath. Reconnecting does not help, my comp doesn't recognize the iTouch.

I have an almost identical problem. Whilst updating the iPod Touch disconnected and then started looking for drivers, which it can't find. The screen just shows the usb and itunes icons as though connecting.
I've tried rebooting the touch, but it stays frozen with the the same icons displayed.
I've uninstalled itunes and apple mobile devices support and reinstalled, but nothing helps.
As far as I can tell I've followed all the advice on apple's support site.
How do I get over this one, please?

Connect to iTunes and restore. If you have difficulty, you may have to put the device into Recovery Mode. See the instructions in this support document. If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

  • USB disconnected while updating! Any help, please??

    Hi.
I was updating my x10i to 2.3 yesterday when the usb cable got disconnected briefly from the phone. The phone turns on, displays the 'Sony Ericsson' logo, then displays a funny looking screen (like the colour stain u get on the screen of a cracked LCD). It does nothing apart from this, even after removing battery and trying again, etc. It doesnt progress any further. I'm assuming what i succeeded in doing was to 'brick' the phone?
    What i've tried so far
I've tried using PC companion, but since the update was interrupted midway PC companion thinks the phone has 2.3. The repair option does not work, and neither does reinstall.
Can anyone please help me?? Any method at all, doesnt really matter as i've backed up all data.

try to update over the air by using wifi..
go to settings > about phone > software update
    or use this software instead..

  • Ipod disconnects while updating

While trying to update my ipod itunes will say ipod disconnected

Had a similar problem on my ipod (~2400 songs). A couple of things you could try :
    1. Reinstall all the s/w that came with the ipod and see what happens
    2. Try adding the songs manually and switch back to auto update and see if everything goes alright
    3. Do a complete OS reinstall and then try updating your ipod (The most painful process)
These were the things apple tech support suggested I do. My ipod (60gig) still would not update the entire library. Sent it back today. Should get a replacement in about a week.
(Argh !!!!!!!! this is going to be very agonizing).
PS. Make sure you have exhausted all trobleshooting methods before you call apple or they will make you do these. It just takes longer that way
Hope this helps and get your ipod to work normally

  • IPod randomly disconnects when updating with iTunes.

Just got my 60 gig iPod video today, and have been having an aggravating time trying to figure out why the thing keeps disconnecting while updating.
Basically, I selected some songs I want to update, and it will get through prolly about 10% of them before it will randomly just disconnect. When reconnecting, it will start all over from the beginning. It happens at random times, I have no idea what is going on. Any help?
I've tried several different USB ports, all with the same issue.

Did you figure this out? I am having the same problem. I have been unable to get an intial load of songs onto my iPod. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling all the software as well as restoring my iPod. Nothing has worked.

  • Automatically disconnects while transferring songs!!

I have just bought a shuffle and am having major problems. I already have itunes 6 installed and my girlfriend uses her shuffle fine on my computer. Hence the reason that i wanted one too.
When she plugs her shuffle in it updates fine, when mine is plugged in iTunes sees it fine and starts to transfer songs but then suddenly disconnects and starts all over again. Why?
I am worried that this disconnecting while updating is going to cause damage to my shuffle.
We do everything identical how can hers work but mine plays silly buggers!!!

It could be a loose connection. Make sure you keep everything really still while syncing.
Do you get errors from Windows/iTunes when the shuffle disconnects?
If you are using a "front" USB port, you should try a "rear" USB port (you can get extension cables to avoid the need to plug the shuffle into the back of the computer).

  • Itouch froze on "connect to itunes" screen while updating

It happen to me several times, I just simply wait until it is out of battery and connect it to my itunes and it will show up in my computer. if the problem cannot be solved in this way, you can connect it to computer after several days of running out of battery and it may work. I know it is a little bit stupid idea, but it did work on my itouch

  • My ipad 2 disconnects while trying to update and cant complete syncing / copying of apps.

Recently My ipad 2 has not been able to get a full charge and after repeat attempts manages a 95% charge. i updated to iOS 8.1.3. and my ipad disconnects while trying to update and cant complete syncing / copying of apps. it just keeps rebooting itself!

    Howdy frakie,
If you are having an issue with your iPad restarting itself, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
If your iOS device restarts, displays the Apple logo, or powers off while you're using it - Apple Support
In particular, since you are already using the latest version of the operating system -
If you still see this issue after updating, contact Apple Support.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • TS3694 why while updating my software there's a error 21 and the iphone get disconnected?

why while updating my software there's a error 21 and the iphone get disconnected?

    Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 36, 37, 40
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.

    Someone help ASAP!!!
MY iPad 2 was updating from iOS 7.1.1 to IOS 7.1.2.

Try a Reset in the first instance. With iPad switched on hold down both Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until the Apple logo appears. You may also find the following useful: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

While updating iphone software to 5.0.1, I am getting error that Iphone could not be updated because the firmware file not compatible.
Can anyone help me to resolve this issue.

Using iTunes 10.5.2.11 on a PC running 64 bit Windows 7
First did a full back up of  iphone using iTunes
Put iphone into Recovery Mode ( http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808 ). Erases all user data and settings!
    Disconnected USB cable from iphone
Powered off iphone by holding down Sleep/Off button until slider appeared, slid to off, waited until screen dark
Pressed and kept holding Home button while plugging cable back into phone
I still saw the graphic on the iphone that said to plug into iTunes, so I unplugged and re-plugged cable. (I may have released the Home button too soon)
Recovery Mode alert came up in iTunes.
Followed all iTunes prompts to restore phone - it downloaded and sucessfully installed iOS 5.0.1
iphone did not appear in iTunes due to missing pairing file (that made me nervous)
iphone was now at factory settings. I followed prompts on iphone screen to start reactivation process
Eventually the iphone asked if I wanted to restore from a back-up (whew!)
A window opened in iTunes and I was able to select my previous back-up file for the restore
A full restore from back-up then occured
I also allowed a carrier settings update to occur when prompted (not sure that happens in all cases)
When the restore was done I had to re-enter some passwords, but everything was there
iOS is now 5.0.1 (9A406). The whole process took about an hour.

while updating my ipad to new software through itunes it got stuck and does not work anymore - it just displays the screen with symbols of itunes and the cable to connect to it - help - what should i do?

Disconnect the iPad, do a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank and then power ON again in the normal way.] It is 'appsolutely' safe!, reconnect and follow the prompts.
If that does not work then see here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

  • While updating my iphone, I am receiving a notice that itunes is not available.  Is system not avaialbe and should I just try later?

while updating my iphone, i recevied a message that iTunes was not availabel and to try later.  Is the system not available or is there something wrong with my computer

    Hey csumner1,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are receiving a "Not enough free space" alert when attempting to sync your new iPhone 4s. The following article may help to resolve your issue:
iOS: "Not enough free space" alert when trying to sync
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1503
    Resolution
Try disconnecting and reconnecting your device, then syncing again to solve this issue.
Orphaned files may remain on your iOS device if it is physically disconnected while syncing music, podcasts, videos, or photos. This can prevent iTunes from syncing the iOS device on subsequent sync sessions. When this happens, the Capacity indicator in iTunes may report a large amount of "Other" disk usage for the iOS device. To resolve this issue:
    1. Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
    2. Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
    3. Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
    4. Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes.
              - If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 5.
    5. Turn off the automatic syncing functions for the iOS device. To do this:
              - Select the iOS device from the iTunes window and click the Summary tab.
              - Deselect "Automatically sync when this device is connected" and select the "Sync only checked songs and videos" checkbox.
              - Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
              - Reduce the amount of data that is being synced to the device and resync the device. For example, if syncing your Music library exceeds the memory capacity of the device, choose "Selected playlists" to transfer rather than "All songs and playlists" under the Music tab in iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 6.
    6. Restore using iTunes.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.
