Disconnecting connection, Having to change IP every 10 minutes

Hoping someone can help, or at least put me in the right direction. I have been searching for the last week!
Start off with telling you what I have...
I have a MacBook 2.0Ghz with Leopard OS10.5.4 with 2Gb of ram.
I am using internet via a wireless connection, 802.11g, It is a Cable connection via a modem and a router. Router is a DLINK DI-624.
I can connect to the Router, and can modify its settings, for the most part. (192.168.0.1) But... about ever 10 minutes to 2 hours, I loose my internet, Not the connection to the router, but the browsing connection. The only way i have been able to set it up so far is to modify my IP address each time.
I go from 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.199
Look at this pic of my settings - http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3020/2860169228_72ea13a2a3.jpg?v=0
The thing i'm looking for is my mac to stay connected to 1 specific IP, I have an ipod touch, and it will stay connected at 192.168.0.105
Any help would be great! thanks so much in advanced.

spent over an hour on the phone with apple.... going over all the stuff i had done, before i gave them a call.... then walked through how to do it... over and over again.
I have narrowed it down to My Macbook, and the router's DHCP not working together.
They both work on their own, ie: other computer can connect to the router with DHCP, and my Macbook can connect to another network with DHCP.
The only IP i can get is the generic one of :
169.254.93.105
This is driving me insane!
Someone please help!
Apple seems to not know whats going on, and I have been googling all week (and checking the discussions)
Thanks!

I just bought a new pc and for our internet connection we have an airport express. My laptop can connect to it but my airport utility won't recognize it. Even though it does connect to the internet about every 15 minutes the internet shuts off. What should I do?

If you've not yet tried, unpower the AppleTV for a minute or so and restart - this occasionally corrects issues.
If not and the software update seems to have caused an issue, go to the Settings menu and choose to Restore it (this will erase all settings) to reapply current firmware.
Alternatively try to do so via iTunes:

  • Change background every N minutes broken?

i'm running 10.5.3 on a 2.4GHz blackbook... i have my desktop background set to change every 5 minutes from a folder of about 375 pictures. it's changing the picture *at least* once a minute though, not 5 as i have set. i've updated the setting several times too. buggy?

Before deleting the plist, try running this command on it:
    plutil -lint ~/username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
I'm curious to see if this "plist check" routine will help solve many plist errors folks are having.
("username" is the name of your home directory -- your account's "short" name)

  • Internet Hub 2.0 Disconnecting and Having to chang...

    Hello,
Recently my girlfriend and her family have been having problems with their BT Home Hub 2.0, it keeps disconnecting randomly and they have to keep changing the channel everytime they want to reconnect back onto the internet.
They are attached to another house which has internet, just wandering if that would be interferring with there signal or anything?
If anyone can help that would be very nice.

  • I use the weather add-on, which says it can change locations every 5 minutes, but it never changes...how can I make that option work?

The weather add-on allows for entering multiple locations, and asks how often you'd like it to switch the display to show the current weather in different places. I chose "5 minutes", but it never changes.

Does the author of the add-on provide any support? If they do provide support you would be better off asking the author.
What add-on is it, there are quite a few weather add-ons.

  • TCP connections on Cisco ASA disconnects the database session every 30 Minutes

Right after a firmware upgrade form 8.4.2 to 8.4.7   on our ASA 5540:
the database app that makes a tcp connection with the database  loses connection to the database servers on the inside of the firewall
-Nothing changed on the process servers.
-Nothing but firmware version changed on the firewalls.
    -Rebooting did not help.
-Connections don't always drop every 30 minutes, but it's still almost exactly at that time, with a 90% chance of it happening. And it reestablishes in about 52 second
-The client is not willingly terminating the connections to the database servers on the inside. The connection is just going away.

I am not seeing any error in the logs in ASA but in our client we see:

  • Wireless radio turns off every 2 minutes

I have a Thinkpad Z60t, running Windows XP.
I have the physical wireless switch on the side panel set to the on position (i.e. to the right).
Initially, I am able to connect to any wireless network without a problem. However, after about 2 minutes of not actively using the internet, the green "wireless radio" status light on the front panel turns off and I lose my internet connection. I then have to do "Fn + F5" (or ThinkVantage button -> Manage My Connections -> Power On/Off Wireless Radios) to turn it back on (and get the status light to be green again). I then have to reconnect to the wireless network.
I believe this is a common issue. I have tried several suggestions I found on other forums, including ThinkVantage button -> Manage My Connections -> Select Location Profiles -> Open Access Connections -> Configure -> Location Switching -> UNSELECT "Enable automatic location switching". This method actually seemed to work for a few hours, but then stopped.
I am certain that my wireless network is stable - my roommate's laptop does not lose the signal every 2 minutes like I do. I think my laptop's wireless radio automatically shuts off after 2 minutes of no use, and this feature needs to be disabled somehow.
Please help. I am getting frustrated of having to manually reconnect every 2 minutes.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

open control panel, go under system, hardware/system property, then go into the device manager.
Under the wireless card property (right click on the wireless card and select property), there are settings for roaming aggressiveness, power saving and power output.

    1. Why don't you purchase it from Apple? I'd be wary with eBay sellers - and, after all, Apple posts their stuff everywhere, even if you live in a country without a localized Apple store webpage or local (physical) Apple stores.
    2. when it comes to adapters / cables like these, NEVER purchase ANYTHING non-Apple-manufactured! Most of the cheap(er) knock-offs don't work! That is, don't try to save on going for a cheaper alternative - it most likely won't work.

Hey so I'm having trouble changing my country/region on my iphone 5 every time it go through settings Apple ID and try change the country it's just blank ? Any ideas ?

    Hello Natethemate,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with changing the country for the iTunes Store on your iPhone.  For this issue, I recommend signing out and back into the iTunes Store on your iPhone:
Sign in with a different Apple ID
Tap Settings > iTunes & App Stores.
    Tap your Apple ID.
If you see the option to Sign In, you can change your Apple ID now.
    Tap Sign Out.
Enter your Apple ID and Password and tap Sign In.
You can find the full article here:
iOS: Sign in with a different Apple ID in the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1311
If the issue persists after signing out and back in, I recommend quitting and relaunching the applications on your iPhone:
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
You can find the full article here:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
If you are still seeing the same issue after quitting and relaunching the iTunes Store app, I recommend restarting your phone and then resetting if it's still not working:
    How to restart
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on the top of your device until the red slider appears. Then drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.
    How to reset
You should reset your device as a last resort and only if you can't restart it.
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
You can find the full article here:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

  • How do I close multiple files in Preview on OSX10.8 without having to click on "Revert Changes" for every file?

I opened, say, 100 PNG files that were saved in a landscape format.  So I selected all files, typed Cmd+L (to rotate left), and then viewed them for a while.  After I was finished, I tried to close all of them at once, but found I had to click on "Revert Changes" for every file?
In Snow Leopard, an option would come up allowing you to discard changes for ALL open files.  Here, I cannot seem to find that option (if it even exists).  Does anyone have an idea?

    From the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences... ▹ General ▹ Ask to keep changes when closing documents: Off

  • Mac Mini Connected to TV Causes Blank Pauses every ten minutes

I hope someone can help with a small but frustrating issue I'm having.
I have a Mac Mini (2011) hooked up to a new 1080p television. The mini goes via HDMI straight to the TV, no adapters. The mini is also connected to a regular computer monitor simultaneously, set to mirror.
Until this week, I had an identical setup with an older, smaller hd television, where the mini was connected to the TV with an HDMI -> DVI adapter and also to the same second monitor. The TV was off most of the time, I only turned it on to watch a movie off my hard drive or whatever.
Here's the problem: When the new TV is OFF, every ten minutes or so with the monitor goes blank and resets, as if someone unplugged the HDMI connection and then plugged it back in the quickly. While this happens the Mac is frozen for about 5 seconds. I can reproduce the same effect by actually unplugging the HDMI wire. It is also the same pause that happens when I change the monitor and TV displays from mirroring to non-mirroring (side-by-side).
This only happens when the TV is off. If the TV is on, there is no issue.
I'd like to be able to sit at my desk using the monitor without the TV screen on, as I was able to do with my older television. I never had this problem with that TV over many months.
Is there any kind of setting change that might help?
I'm guessing the TV being off causes the HDMI connection to be occasionally lost and then the MAC resumes/redetects the TV, triggering the display to reset, but I think it is odd that this only happens after the thing has been off for ten minutes (and then repeats regularly). I've fiddled with the power options and energy saving settings on the TV, none of them seem to have any effect. Is there anything I can do on the Mac side? The only other option I can think of is to actually unplug the TV when I'm not using it, but that would get old fast.
Any advice would be appreciated. I've tried turning off mirroring, turning the TV off while not having the HDMI input active at that moment, and turning off all power saving options on the TV. I expect this is more a "tv problem" than a Mac problem, but it can't hurt to ask.

I couldnt get it to work even though I tried disconnecting an connecting the modules again. When I replaced the 4gb modules with the ones that came with the computer it started working perfectly.
Does this mean that one of the modules might be damaged? I am going to try connecting one of the factory ram and one of the ones I bought to see which is the one that doesn't work and see if I can replace it.
    Thank you so much

  • Disconnect/Reconnect every few minutes

I just had Fios installed 4 days ago.  I've got a M1424WR wireless router.  Firmware up-to-date, 2 computers one wired one wireless. and every few minutes I'm disconnected from the system and reconnected.  Almost every web site has to be reloaded 2-3 times until there is a response.  The Verizon Tech phone support didn't see anything wrong with the service or router.  As a matter of fact, 6 lights are lit on the router and when this happens they generally don't go yellow or go out.  It just looks like the connection to the router is fine.  I've rebooted the router, even rebooted the back up power.  I have a feeling that there is just a setting somewhere that needs to be changed.... anyone have any ideas?  For reference, it's a lenovo laptop, IBM build.  I'm desperate to get this resolved as it's impacting my work.

Well, you have two computers. one wired and one wireless.
Do both of them drop connections or just one of them? If both, do they drop at the same time?
If it is just one of them, then I'd look at the connection itself or the computer. If it is both, then I'd look at the router or verizon network.
Assuming it is both. You've already rebooted the router, did you try resetting the router also? Also try reseating the wan cable to the router as well. If your still having an issue at this point. I would call tech support back and ask them if they can pull up the history log on the ONT. This will hopefully tell them if the drops are happening on the inside or outside of the house.
Do you have any other fios services? Telephone or TV? Do they have any issues?

Has anyone found a solution to this, other than reverting to Airport Firmware 7.5.2?

Welcome to the club.. there is a very long thread.. here.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3526741?tstart=0
There seems to be any number of factors.. where the solutions are little silly things..
Start from the end of the thread and work backwards as this has been ongoing for a long time.. and experience has improved.
What you are seeing btw is the change apple made in Lion and 7.6 to higher security version of AFP.. but it is a mess IMHO.. and has not worked at all well.

  • Skype Disconnected Every Few Minutes

I upgrade my service from wireless to uverse and that includes phone, cable and internet. Since then I  noticed that when I am on a call on Skype, I get disconnected every few minutes even though I am still connected to the internet.  Didn't have this problem before.

I've been having the same problem, and so I tried the solution suggested above. However, I still get disconnected after being away from my computer for just a few minutes. Although we have wireless and I thought that perhaps this is the reason I get disconnected, my husband can be using the internet on his computer at the exact time that I get disconnected, so I know that I'm not losing the wireless signal. Any other suggestions?
    Thanks
