Disconnection between Remote and iTunes on iPad2

When I connect with iPad to iTunes using the app Remote I loose the connection after a couple of minutes. I then have to cut the Wi-Fi connection and re-establish it in order that Remote finds iTunes gain.
This is not the case with my iPhone3 (same OS and Remote version), which keeps the connection without a time limit.
What's the point with ipad2?

Used HW and SW:
- iPhone3 and iPad2: OS 4.3.3, remote 2.1.1 (299)
- iTunes 10.2.2.12 on Vista

Same problem with Apple TV (OS 4.2.2). When you start Apple TV it sees and connects to iTunes but after a whille (10 minutes or so) the connection is broken.

Curious... Syncing Issues Between iPhone and iTunes?

Just curious... the past several months I have noted various concerns around "syncing" between iPhone and iTunes... yet don't recall any mention of whether it occurs between MAC OS or WIN hardware (desktops and or laptops). Furthermore, I am interested if anyone can comment whether these sync issues occurs mostly on TIGER or LEOPARD OS when accessing iTUNES. (Guess I should pay more attention to the noted OS field.
I ask because I am considering an upgrade to LEOPARD by end of month and don't want to jeopardize my syncing to my iPhone if it is a LEOPARD related issue. Thank you

I'm running Leopard and I've never experienced any sync issues.

Which particular issue are you referring to?
Before installing a major OS X upgrade such as Leopard over a previous OS X version, it is a good idea to create or update your existing backup of important data stored on your computer's hard drive - including your iTunes library, photos, contact info, calendar events, documents, etc. I've never experienced any problems installing a major OS X upgrade over a previous OS X version, but I always update my computer's backup immediately beforehand to be on the safe side.

Apple Remote and iTunes

Some time ago, I changed the setting for my Apple remote such that once iTunes is open and I press the menu button, iTunes becomes hidden.
Now, it has become a nuisance as once iTunes is open, the remote will do nothing else but hide iTunes when I press the menu button.
I've been trying really hard to figure out where to go to change this setting but to no avail.... can anybody help me?!

I have had and fixed a similar issue;
Setup;
Linksys ADSL router/model (4 port wired and wireless)
LAN Network = 192.168.0.x
Mac Mini wired into the router (on same LAN)
Airport Express wireless (driving my stereo speakers and acting as a wireless client on the same LAN)
Apple iPhone 3GS wireless with Apple Remore app
iTunes 9.blah (last 9.x version before 10 havent upg yet, iTunes all configured to use airtunes, remote speakers and remote app etc)
Now It will all work fine and dandy at first then if i stop itunes (and the remote app disconnects) after a while (5 to 10 mins) the mac goes to sleep to save power.
The mac doesnt wake up again to accept the connection from the remote app.
So I found an apple support article (cant find it now) that suggested that I set the "wake on lan" feature, this wakes the mac and itunes if the mac has slept. Its in the system preferences / energy saver (its something like "wake on lan" or "wake on network")
This fixes it for me.

Playlist order different between iPhone and iTunes

I updated to 3.1 and iTunes 9. In iTunes lets say i have 5 songs in a playlist. Lets say I Will Not Bow, Let The Beat Build, So Sharp, Good Time, and Fall. But on my iPhone in the same playlist they are ordered Let The Beat Build, Good Time, I Will Not Bow, So Sharp, then Fall. Why would they be ordered differently between the two? Anyone else having this problem?

There is a solution for this problem. Right click your smartlist; select edit smartlist; UNCHECK "live updating"; Then sync your files. This will adjust your device (iPod, iPhone) list to the way it is in your iTunes list.
It does mess up adding new songs to your smartlist if you use a specific method of list names which adds a song automatically. If this is the case, check "live updating" using the method above, add your song, then uncheck it again to keep the order as it is in iTunes.
Hope this helps. It works for me everytime a list messes up. I read about this fix somewhere in these forums, tried it and it works like a charm!!

Differences in "storage used" between iPad and iTunes

I have an iPad Mini 2 and there a differences between the stated "storage used" between the iPad and iTunes.
Looking in the general settings "Storage" it states I have used 113GB and available is 413MB.
Looking on iTunes, when the iPad is connected, it states I have 67.20GB free.
Which is correct and what causes the problem?
How is it fixed if it is because the iPad has a fault?

It is now a couple of weeks and noticed the discrepancy occurring again. I did not want to go through the above process again because it took about 4 hours to get my iPad up, running again and normal.
Again, there was a difference in memory by about 20GB.
This time it tried something different.
1) Went into General settings on iPad and managed memory. From here I removed all films and TV episodes. Now Video memory was zero.
2) Switched off WiFi. When I opened the Video app, I noticed a pile of films and TV episodes showing, even though they had the cloud icon. They could even be watched. I deleted these films/episodes.
3) Viewed the iPad memory using iTunes on laptop and compared to iPad general settings usage (video memory negligible). Both numbers pretty much spot on.
My musings - I can only assume that the iPad does not properly delete films/episodes that I had previously watched. It is evidently holding on to the video, even though I had deleted them and they were not showing in general settings. Though it is a hassle, I at least now how to find where the "lost" memory is and how to reclaim it.

Rebates--VBOF execution leads to disconnect between SD and FI

Hello--
We are facing some challenges with the VBOF transaction. When the transaction is executed prior to rebate settlement, variances are processed and posted to FI & to SD (but in different periods). Posting of SD items in prior periods while posting the FI items in the current period is causing a disconnect between Sales Reporting (SD) and General Ledger (FI).
How have others addressed this issue?

Hi,
I think VBOF only reorganises the rebate relevant data in SD to include or exclude the rebate base amount based on the snapshot configuration at that point of execution. It only updates the rebate relevant value in the rebate agreement and nothing else.
Based on this rebate settlement amount, rebate credit memos can be created which can again get posted to FI. So in my opinion, VBOF has no direct link with FI posting.
If my understanding about your problem is wrong, please let me know.

Pics flow between iPhone and itunes

I want to activate the pics flow between my iPhone and iTunes on the PC. When i click on " pics flow" in options it's ask me an "URL".

I checked again last night, and now iTunes matched the phone settings, saying zero space was available. I had nearly 20 gigs of "Other" data :/
So I erased all settings/data on the iPhone and restored from an iCloud backup from last week, and now everything seems fine, with over 15 GB of available space.

Sync problem between iPhone and iTunes (Music&Books)

Hello, I have a synchronization problem between the macbook and iPhone 5S. On the macbook I've Maverik updated and also the Iphone is updated.
First problem: the timing so long, especially at the step of applications, compared to when it was fast, applications have not changed.
Second problem: the music, I flagged "synchronizes the selected music" but all the flags on the selected artists are missing, despite what the music is on iPhone . I tried to flag again on itunes but all song was duplicate in Iphone.
Third problem: the books, it happens the same music.
The problem does not occur with the photo with the ringtones and videos.
I've tried everything from simple restart of the mac and the iPhone, checked and updated macbook, iPhone and itunes. Repaired permissions on the mac.
What can I do?

Ciao, da un po' di giorni ho un problema di sincronizzazione fra il macbook e l' Iphone 5S. Sul macbook ho Maverik aggiornato e anche il telefono non JB è aggiornato.
Primo problema: la sincronizzazione dura tanto, sopratutto allo step delle applicazioni, rispetto a quando era veloce le applicazioni non sono cambiate.
Secondo problema: la musica, ho flaggato "sincronizza la musica selezionata" ma sono spariti tutti i flag sugli artisti selezionati, ciò nonostante la musica è presente sull' iphone. Ho provato a riselezionarli e me li duplica tutti.
Terzo problema: i libri, succede la stessa della musica.
Il problema non si manifesta con le foto con le suonerie e i video.
Ho provato di tutto a partire dal semplice riavvio del mac e del telefono, controllato e aggiornato macbook, telefono e itunes. Riparato permessi sul mac.
Cosa posso fare?

How to synchronise the play status of podcasts between iphone and itunes?

Hi there, thank you for reading,
I am annoyed now for a few months about the disfunctional synchronizing between my iphone and itunes when it's about the play status of podcasts.
I get new podcasts in every new day and i play many, so it's essential to see immediately which are new and which i have listened to or have half-listened.
This functionality was there when podcasts were still played in the Music app on the iphone, but now it's moved to a podcast app, it doesn't. Weird.
I run the most recent software and the hardware is fine. If you have any to get around the daily manual synchronisation, please let me know.

Hi Jim - thanks so much for your detailed & helpful reply. I actually do already have those columns shown in my playlist views - my problem is that I don't believe what they are showing!
For instance, out of my c.13k tracks, my smart playlists count:
Matched - 42
Ineligable - 46
Purchased - 15
Not Matched - 121
Uploaded - 27
Error - 13,060
When I first started using Match it spent several days uploading tracks, and now is having another incremental go, and showing 325 of 1464 Uploaded.
Ah - that's interesting - I just looked at my 'iCloud Matched' playlist on my iPhone, and it says there are 11,876 tracks in it, even though iTuns on my MacBookpro shows 42! But then my iPhone also shows 11,876 in the 'iCloud Error' list. And in my 'Ineligble' list. And my 'Purchased' list...so who knows! Which was the thinking behind my original query.
But I do appreciate your reply Jim, which has been helpful even with the above situation.

Synchronizing deletions between iBooks and iTunes: bug?

my iPad2 is configured so to auto-sync all pdfs I have in iTunes.
I delete a pdf on the iPad, then sync with cable.
What I see is that
1) iTunes switches to MANUAL pdf sync
2) it builds up a list of pdfs to sync which (correctly) does not include the deleted items.
But this sounds like a giant bug, because
1) all the books I add to iTunes from that moment on don't get copied;
2) even worse, if I restore auto-sync for all books, then the deleted files reappear on the iPad (I have ~750 math articles...).
Is there a better procedure for deletion?
Otherwise, I'll give up using iBooks and switch to some more serious 3rd party application...

Ratings will only sychronise if you are updating your iPod automatically. If you are managing your songs manually then the iPod and iTunes are by definition not in sync. I have seen Apple Scripts and software for Mac that will sync information, you could try Google to see if anything similar exists for Windows.

The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

Notes not syncing between outlook and itunes

Itunes (12.1.1.4) is not syncing my notes correctly between outlook and my iphone.
new notes transfer, but changes are not working.
I have one note that if I changed it in outlook, it kept revertting to whatever was on my iphone
Then another one, any changes made in the phone, will revert to what was saved in outlook.
This does not happen consistently (not with all notes) but I can get it to repeatedly happen.
Also, If I make changes to the same note in both places and then sync, the sync procedure used to give mt he option to pick the one I wanted. That is no longer happening either.
I am using outlook 365, current version.
And, I'm using an iphone 5 with 8.1.2 os

On your Mac open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect Notes then reselect it.
On your iOS devices, tap Settings > iCloud
Switch Notes off then back on.
Give iCloud a few minutes to re sync the data.

Configuration between ipad and itunes

Hello.
I have an iPad 2 and I sincronice it with iTunes. All is fine. I make the changes in the order of the apps in the iPad and I want to transfer this order to the iTunes, but when connect it to the Pc and open iTunes, I select the device and before Apps. I can see the device but if I select Sincro Apps, the order in the device is changed by the order in iTunes.
I dont know if I explain it well. I need to put my acctual order in the iPad to the iTunes. Thanks

I think you are trying to keep the screens arranged the same way in iTunes as they are on the iPad? Is that what you want to do? The way the apps are listed under the Sync Apps heading means nothing if you want to arrange them on your own.
Just tap and hold down on an app icon until all of the icons wiggle and then you can move the apps in an order that you want them on the iPad. You can also do the same thing in iTunes when your iPad is connected and iTunes is running. Try arranging the apps in iTunes and then sync and see if that makes a difference.
There is no guarantee that when you sync the next time that the app arrangement will be maintained but all things being equal - it should work.
Now - did I misunderstand you or am I on the right track?

Files between iPhone and iTunes not syncronized

I synchronised my iPhone and iTunes. The iPhone give me this info after the synchronisation :
"2 elements were not synchronized. Consult iTunes to know more."
Wher i go in iTunes to know more.

That's what I usually do: I connect my iPhone to my Mac and I sync it.
However, the "11 elements were not synchronized..." only appears on my iPhone. It tells me to look for more information on iTunes, but that's exactly the point: nothing shows on iTunes.

Remote and iTunes 8.1 with AirPort deactivated?!?

Ok, I just wanted to try if the new iTunes DJ thing works, updated the iPhone remote app and started to "vote" for songs, when I realized that my MacBook was not connected to my WiFi-network... but it still worked!
Now I wondered how that was possible..?!? My MacBook is connected via ethernet to the same router my AirPort Express (which I use for WiFi) is connected to. So I just unplugged the ethernet cable and it stopped working.
Does this mean that my iPhone accesses my MacBook via AirPort Express, or what?
Is this normal? Just wondering...

If your iPhone is connected to your WiFi network and your computer is connected to the same network via ethernet then Remote will still work, as it is going from the iPhone wirelessly to the Airport Express and then via ethernet to the computer. Both devices don't need to be on WiFi, just be on the same network.

Transfer between iPod and iTunes - mission impossible !

I recently got iPod Touch (latest model with latest iOS) - just to use it in my car. I simply wanted to add and remove few songs. In a normal world, there would be just 2 columns (ipod/computer and simple managing both parts within files and folders management - let us be sincere, can anything be more natural and straightforward ? Sure not). But Apple wants it to make super complicated and highly frustrating. OK, what to do,
Since I already have a different computer (newer version of MBP Retina, with the latest OSX) , I needed to get the iPod content to the iTunes on the new computer somehow. This is impossible as such - since iTunes keep telling that if I want to associate this iPod with this iTunes library , I have to erase the iPod (this is something I really don't want). I try "full backup" - as offered by iTunes ... I do it few times, the process starts, but always lasts quite short (considering 1700 songs with 24 GB on my iPod). The result is - nothing is backuped to this computer ... very nice ...
In further search, I discover some third party apps, that supposedly could help with this terrible process. I bought AnyTrans and started transferring the content to iTunes. in 9 hours, it was just 4 GB transferred ... (overnight) ... obviously not the way ... On another advice , I bought iExplorer, it should be supposedly better. I tried to transfer the iPod content to iTunes ("start automatic transfer). I tried it 5 times. As a result, the app always froze and for quit was the only solution. NIce. Then I got an advice that it is good not to transfer to iTunes but just to some folder on a computer. That finally worked. Good
Then I added all these songs to iTunes Library (finally some first result after many hours of effort). Then I agreed that this iPod can be associated with this iTunes Library (that already contained those 1700 songs) and let it synced with this iPod. After some time the iPod was indeed erased. No music in it any more. As much as I tried again and again to sync it with iTunes Library, the process went in three short steps and finished. The result - no music on iPod, whatever I do ... Full music Library in iTunes on MBP
What shall I say and still keep my expressions decent ? (difficult) This iTunes and this system of working with files on iPod or iPhones is for me the most stupid invention ever. How could someone ever create such a terrible nonsense that make simple things impossible and highly frustrating ? Instead of simple file transfer between devices ... I have no words for that ... It is also possible that it is me who is stupid, in that case, please let me know how can I transfer songs from iPod to iTunes and how can I how some songs on iPod (that are already in iTunes Library). Not to waste computer space by having iPod library copied there, is another thing, but let us not go to details now

Yes, all played in iTunes in the computer, right boxes checked (see the printscreens) ... In the end , I restored to restarting iPod and MBP. After that it started working (synchronisation). But only up to some extent. In iTunes Library I have about 1700 tracks, but only 660 were transferred to iPod. Now I made: "add to library" - adding to library all the song I already have in Library: and the iTunes started working hard to add the rest in the Library (but they were already there ...)
So finally I spend nice whole day to add/remove songs in my iPod ...
Another thing is - when in iTunes Library I want to add/change genre to some songs, the process takes so long, it is like each song is freshly copied just to add the tag "classical" etc to each ... I thought I have the "fastest Mac ever" ... Waiting so long for such trivial process is unbelievable ... (with rainbow circle making a nice decoration now and then)
