Discover4i Applications 11.5.9 Solaris10

Hi folks,
I am currently cloning an EBS 11.5.9 running on Solaris9 to Solaris10. I am having problems with discoverer4i, and in particular the oadutil script and the vbj executable.
The vbj executable is core dumping.
So, I can start the osagent, the oad, but when I go to run unregistersession.sh, registersession.sh, registerall.sh or any other script that references oadutil/vbj.
The JDK is the same on Soalris9 and Solaris 10, 1.3.1_08.
Anyone experienced this before?

Hi All,
here is the relevant output from adstrtal.sh

    Hi,
    Try this
The reason for this error is that the time format entered is not correct. It should be a date and 24-hour format expressed as mm/dd/yy hh:mm:ss. For example: 07/15/10 14:30:00.
The WebLogic Server 11g documentation gives instructions for Date/Time format. For details, please refer to
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/apirefs.1111/e13952/pagehelp/Diagnosticsdiagnosticsviewmetricslogtabletitle.html
    Solution
However, since you cannot open the Domain Log page again because the console hangs or reports a "Redirect Loop" error, you cannot modify this wrong time format on the console. To resolve this issue, please follow these steps:
    Stop WebLogic Server.
    Go to directory <Domain>/servers/<Server_Name>/data/console
Either open ConsolePreferences.xml and modify the value of startrange (and/or endrange) to a correctly formatted time, e.g. 07/15/10 14:30:00
    OR
    Delete ConsolePreferences.xml entirely.
    Start Weblogic Server again.

    Kal

    Hi.,
We are trying to install the websphere application server V6.0.2 on 64bit Solaris10 Sparc server. We are facing a Lot of issue in the installation.
    My main Query:-
->Is the websphere Application server V6.0.2 is supported on 64bit Solaris10 Sparc server.
    If so:
-> we downloaded the C903GML.tar.gz tarball from the IBM partner site., Is we are using the right tarball are we need to download someother ..
Please guide us., Since we are sitting on this issue for more than 15 Days
    Regards
    Suseendran .A

WebSphere is not a Sun Microsystems product.
It does not make sense to ask questions here, about a third party product,
particularly when that third party is such a large organization.
Can you describe what guidance you have received from IBM ?
They would be the best source of all nuances on their own product.
    They created it.
They've undoubedly installed it once or twice.
They are expected to be prepared to answer questions about it.

    Hi Thanigaivel
the above flag reports all the stop the world pauses not only
those caused because of gc. Unfortunately, this flag has
misleading name. Thanks for your info!!
Can you think of any reasons other than GC that cause the stop the world pauses? How can I identify the reason? Are there any VM options to log all the activities that causes the "stop the world" pauses?

    Hi Paz,
Thanks for taking the time :)
    To answer your questions:
    1. Has this WebServices ever worked or is this the first time?
The web service is working perfectly fine on my working station, the problem appears only when I deploy it on my actual server, which means that the web service is working.
    2. What Apache Axis Version are you using?
    1.4
    3. What JRE version are you using?
Both my development pc and my server run jre 1.5.0_14
    4. In the actual server environment, can you confirm all information are exactly same as DEV environment...
    Oh yes! Absolutely.
My recent assumption is that some windows service might be needed to run the web service client and obviously I have no clue which one it might be.
Just to make sure; is the security policy of my Application Server set correctly?
         permission java.lang.RuntimePermission     "getClassLoader";
         permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "createClassLoader";
         permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "loadLibrary.*";

         permission java.net.SocketPermission "*", "connect,accept,resolve";

         permission java.util.PropertyPermission "*", "read,write";

Again thanks for taking the time :)

  • DSCC: application error - unknown error (NPE)

    HI,
just trying to test DSEE 7. However, as soon as I have setup the DS, almost every task in the DSCC web app gets an unknown application error (as long as DS was not active everything was fine - empty).
Actually I don't know, what should be wrong: 'bin/dsadm info' and 'bin/dsccsetup status' look ok, connecting to the ldap servers with Apache Directory Studio (ports 389 and 3998) is also ok.
So webapp bug or did I something wrong?
Here is my proto install sheet, i.e. what I did:

    Hello captfoss!
The Linux video drivers are buggy. If you give them video they don't like, they crash. You seem to repeat this statement quite often......but I don't think s/he is using Linux. S/He is using Solaris10 !!!
I don't know if Linux and Solaris are same OS.............
Thanks! And please don't take it as a comment! :-)

  • Application in Solaris 10

    Hi,
I am new to Solaris10, just want to confirm if following applications are provided in Solaris 10.
    Clock
    Perf Meter
    Audio Tool
    Snapshot
    Answerbook
If yes please provide me with path.
    Thank You

    Hi
I'm not sure exactly which apps you're after.
    There are, amongst others
    /usr/openwin/bin/xclock
    [JDS uses clock-applet]
    /usr/dt/bin/sdtperfmeter
    /usr/dt/bin/sdtaudio
    /usr/dt/bin/sdtimage
I think that answerbok has gone (if you are net connected, there's docs.sun.com).

  • Why there are no /dev/mem, /dev/kmem on solaris10 non-global zones?

    Hi All,
We have an application on SOLARIS10 that tries to open '/dev/kmem' using 'kvm_open' system call and after that it reads certain kernel virtual memory parameter values by using 'kvm_nlist' system call.
In solaris 10 non-global zones these calls are failing as /dev/kmem cannot be found. Is there any other way to access the kmem or kernel memory parameters on non-global zones?
What are the corresponding files for /dev/mem, /dev/kmem on non-global zones? We are interpreting /dev/mem and /dev/kmem files to get status and statistical information of the system on solaris.
    This is urgent....Please help....
    Thanks

You can't access kernel parameters directly (it's difficult to keep somone with access to it from making changes that would be visible to other zones). But it might be possible to get the information you need another way. Zones aren't virtual machines, and you can't do everything in a non-global zone that you can in the global zone.

  • Sunstudio on Solaris10 (x86)

I have installed Solaris10 on a computer with standard Intel architecture.
The installation of SunStudio12 can not be finished in the way
described in the Sun .pdf paper, because
there (on the hard disk) is not any file
    called .installer or like this.
I used once the tar-bzz version of the installation software,
on the medium called as sunstudi.bz2.
After unpacking it I got 2 folders :
one called SUNWspro, containing a lot software, among it file to launch the sunstudio.
another one called NetBeans-5.5.1 containing the NetBeans software required by sunstudio.
Nowhere there was a file called installer or batch-installer.
The netbeans from the folder NetBeans-5.5.1 can not get started,
because an important file in folder /etc have not been found.
Also the suspected/expected folder /etc/netbeans was not found.
I have installed NetBeans one time and could compile and launch java programs,
I don't know, why not now.
Does somebody know is to do to improve the system to let the netbeans start ?
Does somebody know, why the compilers, contained in SUNWspro
don't make executable files by compilation c++ cofde files ?
The executables, which the SunStudio Compilers makes by using the command line
don't start due to some memory errors, the log files called "core" -like don't let m,e open them in an editor.
    regards for readers

    Dear Nik,
I think, I got the problem solved, though I am not finished.
I try to split the message into 4 blocks :
    1(sunstudio)
    2(netbeans)
    3(built by-myself biaries)
    4(solaris)
    ad 1 (sunstudio)
I unzipped by bunzip2 the delivered sunstudio sources:
    $>bunzip2 sunstudi.bz2
After this I moved it to folder /opt.
    $>mv sunstudi /opt
I unpacked the sunstudi to /opt.
There have been created 3 folders: netbeans-5.5.1,SS12_README_FIRST and SUNWspro
    $>pwd
    /opt
    $>ls
netbeans-5.5.1 sunstudi SUNWmlib SUNWvts SS12_README_FIRST SUNWits SUNWspro
I tried to launch the sunstudio by hitting :
    $>/opt/SUNWspro/bin/sunstudio &
My machine answered with an error mesage :
    [1] 5404

So I tried everything to check, what just can be "guilty".
I found out, that the executable "netbeans" is suspiciously small (3824 byte).
So I thought, an error occurs everytime while decompressing sunstudi
and the unpacking of netbeans ends or breaks up without to create and place all its contains onto the disk.
    Probably hardware error.
This was in my opinion the main bug for running netbeans and sunstudio.
I left the sunstudio on the disk and erased the netbeans 5.5.1.
    ad2(netbeans)
I downloaded a platform independent version of Netbeans 6.5 and placed the zip file into
the disk to another place : /export (for some else important reasons) and unpacked it.
The netbeans started properly and I could build some java applications,
hoping to can add the C compilers from the SUNWSpro to the library of netbeans.
They have been found, almost automatically. The building of binaries ended with error messages.
But I got an object file (.o).
So I give the building of c++ apps by netbeans up
and I tried to compile the fresh generated codes typing
    /opt/SUNWspro/bin/CC code.cpp -o out
It went well and I got later the built executable to run. It worked also well.
So I use now the NetBeans 6.5 from else source and I can write source codes.
Surprising way the netbeans found the compilers in the sunstudio folder.
But the ´launching of sunstudio by hitting :
    /<sunstudiohome>/sunstudio & -- netbeanshome <netbeans 6.5 homedirectory>
    was always aborted.
    3(built by-myself binaries)
I don't need much to write in c (or c++). And right now I can't analyze,
why the maker made so bad propblems in the work at netbeans.
But the "direct" building of programs with one source file ended successfully.
    4(solaris)
I can't get the PATH variable set.
The command line in the terminal takes everything but doesn't change anything.
The PATH variable doesn't change in anyway.
    Something wrong occurs always.
I am sure, that the SOLARIS installation works instable or wrongly.
Many else of my SOLARIS troubles remain unsolved but it belongs maybe anywhere else.
Thank You very much for assistance.
    Greetings, Alexander

  • Solaris10 basic questions PHP and MYSQL

    Hi,
I am trying to learn something of Solaris because it this OS is used at my job, well, we have one system T2000 sunfire, it has Solaris10, we are trying to setup as local server to share some html files, and also we are trying to install some mysql databases, well we already setup Apache2 and it is working fine:
    svcs -a | grep -i http
    online Mar_10 svc:/network/http:apache2
Something that I don't know is if the server has already installed PHP and if it is running, I just found these files containing PHP:
    ./usr/local/php
    ./usr/local/php/doc/php
    ./usr/local/php/bin/php
    ./usr/local/php/include/php
    ./usr/local/php/lib/php
    ./usr/local/php/bin/php
    # cd bin
    # ls -l
    total 42041
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root bin 686 Jun 30 2005 pear
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root bin 21407604 Jun 30 2005 php
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root bin 877 Jun 30 2005 php-config
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root bin 593 Jun 30 2005 phpextdist
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root bin 3068 Jun 30 2005 phpize
I was wondering if some of you can tell me if php is installed and running, I think it is not running because I created an php file and it doesn't work.
I also need to know if mysql is working or not, I think it is working, these are the process that I found of mysql:
    /usr/bin/ps -ef |grep mysql
    mysql 843 798 0 Feb 22 ? 40:59 /usr/local/mysql/libexec/mysqld basedir=/usr/local/mysql datadir=/export/ho
    root 798 1 0 Feb 22 ? 0:00 /bin/sh /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysqld_safe datadir=/export/home/database pid-
    Thanks.

    Thanks Alan bye the answer.

I know perl is running by:
    # perl -v
This is perl, v5.8.4 built for sun4-solaris-64int

And I was thinking, before install another thing I want to be sure that php is not installed or running, I would like to ask some questions:
How can I know if php is installed?
How can I know if it is running? the way I have tried is placing a PHP file in the /var/apache2/htdocs and tried it from the browser, but it didn't work.
If PHP is installed how can I enable it or start it? and how to make it permanent or start automatically when server boot up?
What happen if i try to install the AMP, may I have to backup the files that we already have in /var/apache2/htdocs?
Will the amp cause troubles or conflict to the apache, perl and mysql that are already installed and running?
Another basic question and hope not to cause angry, is there inside Solaris any equivalent folder to "program files" like in win? it would be to have an idea of all the applications already installed in the system. or which is or are the folders in Solaris where I can see all the installed applications?
the last question the term "the box" is the term for machine, station, server?
    Thanks.

  • How to check udp buffer overflow in solaris10

    Hello All,
We have developped a C++ application which uses connection based udp socket for transfering the data between two solaris10 machines. The data transfer takesplace for every 20 min and continues for about 1 min. The total no of udp sockets i am using is more than 1200. During the time of socket creation i don't set the send and receive buffer size, so the default parameter configured in the system will be considered.
In certain cases the receiving end application does not receive any data, but the sender continues sending the data, this i could see from the snoop. Also the write operation doesn't fail in the sender side.
From the snoop command i could see the time interval between the packets sent is 30microseconds. So there could be possibility that udp buffer may overflow.
Does anybody know the solaris system command to find the udp buffer overflow?.

If you are using JDS / Gnome as your desktop, go to
"Launch" / "Preferences" / "Desktop Preferences" / "Preferred Applications"
In the tab "Web Browser" you may secify a custom web browser with complete path to application.
