Discovere acess problem in data base 10g

create user for discovere Data base access for one user.Now he is facing log in problem it shows
A connection error has occurred.
- Failed to connect to database - ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
can anybody please help me.

1.On client machine intall discoverer desktop
2.copy the tnsname.ora file in %BI_HOME%/network/admin Directory
3.copy the applicaitons .dbc file in %BI_HOME%/discoverer/secure directory. If the directory doesn't exist then create it.
4.Create an evironment parameter FND_SECURE with value pointing to the %BI_HOME%/discoverer/secure path.
5.In discoverer desktop change connection options to Oracle applciations and then provide username/password/sid and check the Oracle applications checkbox and connect to database.

Problem in Data Base View

Hello All,
I have created a data base View .which is based on two table. my Problem is the Selection Condition Tab I have to define two condition like below.
      Table                        Fields                operator comp value
    ZCLUBINVMST           Cancel               eq           ''                   AND
    ZCLUBINVMST            DOCTY              NE         'S'
My problem is that first condition running properly but when I am adding secound condition logic is not working . I have try with other option like
eq   ''
but not working,
Can some One Please guide me exactly where the problem is ?

I think in ur second condition , S should not be given in single codes.
iam not sure, just check without single code('S').

Unable to connect the data base 10g

I have installed 10g on server 2003. Initially I have tried with user names & pwds (system , system) . It was working fine. Later I changed my computer name and tried, it's not working. I also modfied TNSnames.ora file. but still not able conect. Pls suggest me.

I have a similar problem, but it appears to be caused by a missing log file. Is there any way to correct this situation? The console output is listed below.

Field problems with Data Base

My daughters is getting her 748 Christmas card list ready and one of the fields will not conform to the font and color change from the menu.
It will indicate that it is size 18 but when viewed it is much smaller. All other fields conform to the selected size and color.
This problem is with the input layout as well as our Greeting cards layout.
We have been using this DB for over 10 years without problems. I have used many very large DB's in my business for years and have never seen this.
I took a copy of her DB home and tried it on my Mac and same problem.
Added note:
When I manually change the individual field in browse mode it will comform, but we don't want to manually change all 748 records.

Here's a workaround that could turn into a solution.
Make sure that you're working on a COPY of the database, as there is potential for an error to cause loss of data. The easiest way to create a copy is to do a Save as... and make a small change to the DB name. The newly named version will be the active version, preserving the "old" version from inadvertent changes.
In the "new" version:
Go Layout > Define Fields...
Define a new Calculation type field with the formula 'fieldname' , using the name of the recalcitrant field where I've used fieldname. Set the Display as button to Text (if appropriate).
Click OK, then Done. (This step is necessary to force the calculation of values for this field,)
Go Layout > Define fields... (again)
Click on the "new" field to select it.
Change its Type to Text (or to whatever type the "old" field was).
Click Modify, then Done.
Remove the "old" field from each layout where it appears, and replace it with the "new" field. Set the format in Layout for each occurence of the field.
Return to Browse, and Print a test page to check the results.

Problems whith data base configuration

Hi, I recently noticed that when the internet connection is down, my Oracle Database gets really slow. I was wondering if there is some kind of configuration that make Oracle dependent of my internet connection or something like that?

You probably make some call that wants to use DNS or WINS resolution.
One poossibility is the TNSNAMES.ora has a host name instead of an IP address. WHich is a good thing if you have the network up to translate the host name to an IP address using DNS, and a bad thing if the operating system doesn't remember that there is no network and keeps searching for a DNS server.

HOW TO GET A BLANK DATA BASE COPY FROM PRESENT DB

we have a problem about data base copy, thats mean when we try to get a blank copy of present data base some setting are missing with new blank copy, example- item group, item properties , default whs , price list ect,

If Copy Express Addon is installed,then
1.In SBO,Goto Tools->open Copy Express.
2.A new window will open.....
3.In that,you have to mention the base and target database,It will prompt you for username and password while you are mentioning the databse.
4.Then it will open a window which has configuration settings,
5.you just copy only the configurations...
Be sure that you are not selecting any transactions.
If not installed,install it from the installation package

To create database, I guess, it's better if you use the tool provided by the database. Which database? It can work with any databases provided that you can find the JDBC driver for the database.
JSC2 is a great product. Just give it a try!

As said earlier there is a problem in SQLConnect. It is returning -1.
But the code should return 0 if successfully connected.

Hello, Oracle XE can not create more than one instance, the other editions yes, but like other editions XE allows you to create database schemas, schemas logically grouped objects like tables, views, indexes created by a user. By creating an Oracle user is associated with a schema of the same name.
Using SYS or system accounts for creating user accounts.
Syntax to create a user:

IDENTIFIED BY password
default tablespace users;
grant connect, resources to your_user;

Migrate existing data base to oracle 10g and cluster it

we are currently using sql server 2000 and due to some servere dead locks in the application and due to some load issues we wanted to migrate it to oracle 10g.
At the same time we wanted to have clustered environment in the same server
That is windows server.
Can any one suggest how migration can be done..easily ie..by oracle migration work bench or what...
At the same time can any one suggest how to cluster data base in windows server

This is re-engineering from one database platform to another.
You will have to take into consideration several aspects of your application, from SQL comptability to the application performance (SQL) in the Oracle environment.
There is no magic to this puzzle, the amount of task involved in moving from one database to another depends on complixity of the application and how many database operations will have to be changed. I would suggest /recommend that you should start with a POC on a specific module /area (probably the most complex) of your application and this should give you some idea in the efforts of doing so.

In any case you need to set-up a sqlnet connection from your client to your server. Use the Network Configuration Utility that comes with the Oracle Forms installation.

Problem when saving the Data basis for the Consolidation

Hi Gurus,
I am having 2 problems.
1) When i try to execute the UCWB transaction . It gives an information message
" Data basis DB needs to be generated (after upgrade) . I am following the procedure given in that "<b>Run maintenance of data basis DB in display mode. Go to the "Data Streams" tab page. Choose the "Generate" button.
If changes to Customizing settings are permitted in the current system or client, as an alternative you can maintain the data basis in change mode and save. In the case of systems supplied with Customizing transports, as an alternative you can generate the data basis in the source system and then transport it again.</b>
Even after doing that procedure when i again execute the UCWB. it give me the same message.
2) when is try to save data basis for the consolidation . it give me this error message.
"Field 0HC_ATCCODE: This compound differs from that of basic field 0HC_MEDCTG"
I have checked the referenced Info objects . Checked the compound info objects. Activated them again. They dont differ in any way. but still i get this problem.
Please help me out. If someone has come across this error and solved. Please help me.

I constantly receive the message like your #2 saying that it was a critical change in X infoobject. It's just a warning and I found several OSS notes saying that this message is not correct. Just ignore it.
In case of your Q #1. The data basis might be generated in two ways: by pressing Save icon and by clicking the Generate icon (the system refers just to this very option) and then - Save. The last way is used in Productive environment. Try it.
