Discoverer 10g and R12 error - invalid username/password

Hi all
I have R12 and Discoverer Desktop 10.1.2.1 only (user and admin) on the same Windows machine.
I can connect to Discoverer as the APPS user with no problem, create EULs and workbooks, and see data.
However, I cannot connect as an Apps User. I have copied the DBC file to the Discoverer Oracle home (c:\\oracle\BIToolsHome_1).
I have not updated any opmn.xml files yet as I don't know which ones to update (if any as this is only desktop).
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Alex

Hussein, yes, I completed all the steps. Here is what I have done:
- Install Discoverer 10.1.2 from eDelivery web site
- Create secure folder in
- Copy .dbc file, and name it vis.dbc all lower case.
- Create FND_SECURE and FND_TOP system variables, populated with <ORACLE_HOME>/secure and <ORACLE_HOME> respectively. <ORACLE_HOME> is C:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1.
None of the above has worked.
I have also set the s_appserverid_authentication to OFF in $INST_TOP/appl/admin/VIS_x2o12.xml and then run Autoconfig on the Apps tier, but this has also not worked.
Can you think of anything else to try?
And can you think why I can access Discoverer with SYSADMIN user?
Thanks
Alex

Gurus - Any ideas , suggestions how this can be resolved?
Is this issues because of version mismatch ( 11g DB and Oracle Forms 10g)??

• SQLLDR Error Invalid Username/Password

I am trying to load some data using SQL*Loader. I used this statement: sqlldr RPTDBA/rptdba control=C:\myfile
I get the ORA-01017 error invalid username/password but I can log into SQL*Plus using that same username and password. I created the username using the Enterprise Manager Control. Is there something that I need to do so that SQL*Loader recognizes the username?
Thanks,
Veronica

I had not provided the service name before. Somehow, it must have assumed it. I tried using your syntax,
sqlldr RPTDBA/rptdba@RPTDB control=C:\myfile and it works!
Thanks.
V.
Try
sqlldr RPTDBA/rptdba@service_name control=C:\myfile
Don't you provide a service name when connecting to SqlPlus?

• IPhone deploy gets Login Error (Invalid username/password). Android works

Hi, we're developing an ADF Mobile app on JDeveloper 11.1.2.3 which does initial authentication against Weblogic.
The login & app works fine on Android, but fails when we deploy the same app to iPhone (iOS 5.0.1, but also 5.1, 6.0 & 6.1 in the Simulator).
Specific message is :
Login Error
Invalid username/password. If the problem persists, please contact your system administrator.
It's definitely on the network and reaching the login server, because when we shut down the server or make the network unavailable, the message reports "The login server is not reachable"
All I can think is it's possibly encrypting the password differently within iOS.
Not having much luck on Google or other searches, so any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks
Peter

I found a bit more information in the Weblogic Managed Server logs proving the login request reaches the server, but gives this error. Not much luck on google so, if this rings any bells for anyone thoughts are appreciated.

I have tested the workflow location and password preference is set to persistent and cache at run time.
I logged into OWB repository owner and could deploy the work flow. I even assigned the role that the users were in but they still could not deploy work flow. Any clue?
Thanks.

1. With OWB Design Client, connect to the Control Center Repository using the Control Center Repository Owner (or any other Admin User).
2. Go to the Security section in Tools -> Preferences
3. Check the box that says "Share passwords at Runtime".
4. Commit the changes.
And then try deploying..

• DAC Physical Data Source password change - invalid username/password

We are using DAC/Informatica for loading Peoplesoft data into the warehouse. The password for the peoplesoft source was changed recently. I changed the password in DAC under setup, Type source for the Peoplesoft DB. When I select 'Test Connection' I receive the message connection established successfully. When I restart the execution plan I still get the same error - invalid username/password for obi_infa_ps, which is the account we use for accessing the Peoplesoft DB. All of the DAC and Informatica services on the server have been shutdown and restarted - still getting the invalid username/password error.
Do I need to rebuild the execution plan? If I do, can I manually put in the needed refresh dates?

You will also need to update the username/password in the Informatica Workflow Manager.

• OraclePersonalizationProvider invalid username/password

Hiya
I have been following the instructions in Oracle Providers for ASP.NET Developer's Guide 11g Release 1 (11.1.0.6.20) and have become stuck.
I just want to use Oracle for WebPart personalization so I logged onto Oracle (not localhost as no Oracle installed locally) as sysdba, I then ran InstallOracleASPNETCommon.sql which ran fine. Then I ran InstallOraclePersonalization.sql which keep prompting me for CURRENTUSER. I then altered my config file and ran the web app and got an invalid username/password error. I thought that maybe using the sys username had been a bad idea so I uninstalled and used the username I had already set up for this web app but got the same error. Then I tried using aspnet as this is given in the config example in the documentation but still no joy. obviouslly I changed the username and password in the config file each time I tried running the scripts with a different username.
Am I doing something wrong? Is it not a username that the prompt is for? Should I be putting username/password or something? Do I need to create aspnet as a user first? There's no mention in the documentation that the sql scripts will prompt you so I'm just not sure I'm doing it right. Can anyone help?
Thanks :)

Hiya
Yes it was using the Oracle SQL Developer tool taht was causing my prompting problem. I got one of our Oracle DBA's to give me a hand and we did the following:
Logged onto SQLPlus as sysdba
Created a new user with the following sql -
create role aspnet_role
grant
alter session,
create cluster,
create indextype,
create library,
create materialized view,
create procedure,
create public synonym,
create sequence,
create session,
create synonym,
create table,
create trigger,
create type,
create view,
create job,
drop public synonym,
query rewrite
to aspnet_role
create user aspnet
identified by aspnet
default tablespace users
temporary tablespace temp
quota unlimited on users
grant aspnet_role to aspnet
grant execute on dbms_scheduler to aspnet
grant execute on dbms_job to aspnet
Exited sqlplus then logged back in again as aspnet user
ran the InstallAllOracleASPNETProviders.sql file in sqlplus
everything runs without error
In my web.config file I add the following connection string

<add name="OraAspNetConStringJcs" connectionString="Data Source = jcs.jcslweb06; User ID = aspnet ; Password = 'aspnet' "/>
now I add the personalisation to the config

<personalization defaultProvider="CustomOraclePersonalizationProvider">
<providers>
<add name="CustomOraclePersonalizationProvider" type="Oracle.Web.Personalization.OraclePersonalizationProvider,

Oracle.Web, Version=2.111.6.20, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342" connectionStringName="OraAspNetConStringJcs"
applicationName="JCS"/>
</providers>
</personalization>
If I run the web site I get a ora-1017 invalid username/password error
If I use the same credentials to log in using Oracle SQL Developer tool it works fine
If I log in via sqlplus it works fine.
Having googled the problem I've tried putting the username/password in uppercase and turning off the case sensitivity but it always throws this error even though the credentials are correct.
Now I'm gettting ora-28000 - the account is locked and will have to go and find someone to tell me how to unlock it!
Any ideas why it won't authorise my valid credentials?

• Unable to start replicat due to invalid username/password

below is my parameter:
REPLICAT MSREP
SOURCEDEFS /u01/app/oracle/gg/dirdef/emp.def
USERID gg_user, PASSWORD welcome1
MAP hrschema.emp, TARGET gg_user.emp;
when I start the replicat, I got an error invalid username/password. If I log into SQLPLUS with the same username/password, it's working fine.......
thoughts?

It doesn't know. A GGS install directory can have Extracts and Replicats for any number of databases on a server. If you really do want to use a different GGS install directory for each database (which you certainly don't have to), then you can simply name your OGG intall directories to suit your needs, such as /u01/app/oracle/product/ogg/db1 and /u01/app/oracle/product/ogg/db2.
If you use only 1 OGG install directory, then when you add and Extract or Replicat, there's an option in the command to add a description as well, and you could put something in each description like "Extract for DB1" or "Replicat for DB2", and when you query those components in GGSCI with INFO ALL for example, you'd see that description next to the name of the component.
Also, for Oracle databases, your Replicat and Extract can contain a SETENV parameter which includes the ability to set the ORACLE_HOME and SID for the respective database.
For example:
SETENV (ORACLE_HOME = “/home/oracle/ora9/product”)
SETENV (ORACLE_SID = “ora9”)
If this were SQL Server, your connection parameter in the Extract or Replicat would point to a System DSN (such as DBLOGIN SOURCEDB dsn_name) and that DSN that you reference and create with the ODBC applet, contains the db instance and database name, which makes it unique.

• Apply patch to 11gR2 through OEM - ERROR: Invalid username and/or password

I am trying to apply a patch to an 11gR2 database (11.2.0.1.0) running on AIX 6.1. Using Oracle Enterprise Manager, I click on 'Software & Support' on Database tab, click on 'Patch Advisor' and click on 'Stage Patch' link. I use 'Search by number', locate the patch, click Next etc etc - select target, enter Oracle Home credentials etc. Finally I submit the patch job, and, after a minute or so I am getting 'Step: prereqCheckOnHome Initialization Error'. When looking at details of the step, I can see only:
Error Log
ERROR: Invalid username and/or password
I am at fault to understand which username/password is being referred to. I have checked Oracle Home credentials by running an OS command job with these credentials - job completed fine.
Obviously, patches can be applied the 'old' way - using OPatch from command line and then runing necessary SQL scripts, but I wanted to try new 'civilized' approach.
Anyone had this issue and know how to tackle it?

Discoverer supports two kinds of connections - database schema connections and apps connections. For Disco Admin, you login using a database schema, which, as you stated, works. For Disco User you login using an Apps user account (for which there is a no equivalent database scherma). To enable such a connection, you need to check the "oracle applications user" check box on the 10g Disco login screen. Also, under Tools --> Options, in the Connection tab, make sure that "connect to both standard and applications EULs" radio button is selected.
