Discoverer 11g installation and webcache

Discoverer 11g installation and webcache
I just finshed doing a standalone install of discoverer 11.1.1.6. I just dint realise that we require webcache and had unchecked that option.
Is there a way for me to fix this?
Thank you

When I try to rerun the installer. It (11.1.1.2) tries to create a new oracle home. Can I uninstall Discoverer 11.1.1.2 without uninstalling weblogic and reinstall it again?
Thank you

  • Problem with oracle webcenter 11g installation and configuration

I have installed weblogic and webcenter successfully. After that I have configured the webcenter by creating new domain using configuration wizard . Three managed servers created for spaces, services and portlets and able to bring up. The problem is webcenter and other service related applications are in failed state. In server stage no ear or war files related to these applications. So unable to access webcenter spaces. Only weblogic console and webcenter enterprise manager can be accessed. No clue from installation document.
Is anything to do to make it to active state?
    Edited by: user10303069 on Oct 7, 2009 12:18 AM

Problem solved. Simply two more steps required. First, In the nodemanager.properties Edit as StartScriptEnabled=true and start the node manager and then Admin server. Second step is start the WLS_Spaces managed server from webcenter Enterprise Manager. Now spaces is accessible.

  • Discoverer 4i Installation and patch 3201601

    Hi!
I've installed Discoverer Administration Edition (Admin + Desktop) using the Oracle CD version 4.1.37 for Windows 95/98/NT/2000
Then, I applied the patch 3201601.
I chekced the tnsnames.ora file in C:\ornt\NET80\ADMIN. I reate my required connect string in this file.
However, when I am trying to connect either to the ADmin or the Desktop, getting the following error message:
ORA-12154 - TNS annot resolve service name.
The TOAD too throwing the same error message!!
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks and regards,
    Aparna

    Thanks a lot Rod.
Let me summarise all the steps to be followed to install and connect to the Discoverer 4i with Apps 11i:
    1) Install Discoverer 4i (4.1.37)
    2) Apply patch 3201601. If installing on XP get .dll errors. Metalink note 297750.1 gives the fix for this.
    3) Then check tnsnames.ora and create the connect string.
    4) Check sqlnet.ora for domain description. Make required changes.
    5) To connect as an EUL owner to the Discoverer Admin 4.1.48.08, in tools -. Options -> connection, select 'Connect to both standard and applications EUL' or 'Connect to standard EUL'.
    6) to connect as an Oracle apps user, copy .dbc file form the database to the $ORACLE_HOME\secure folder on the standalone PC/laptop.
Did I miss out any step?

  • Install Repository Creation Utility [RCU] for Discoverer 11g

    Friends !
Please help me in answering below quesitons.
    1. We are implementing Discoverer 11g on Sun Solaris 64 SParc systems
    2. For this i did download software using "edelivery" - Oracle Fusion MiddleWare 11g.
    3. I did installed Weblogic server
    4. But there is no "Repository Creation Utility " for solaris env. Is it mandatory to install Repository Creation Utility for discoverer 11g installation
our main goal is to install discoverer 11g and integrate with e-business environment 12.1.3
    Please advise on this
    Regards
    VSH

    Please see MOS note 858748.1.
Section "5. RCU only on Linux x86 and Windows 32 bit"
    This states:
"Since the Repository Creation Utility (RCU) is only available on Linux and Windows, how can I create schemas in other supported Oracle Database platforms?
    Answer:
RCU is only available for Windows 32 bit and Linux x86. Run RCU on these supported platforms to remotely access a certified Oracle Database Server (see Certification Guide) by following the RCU User's Guide"
There are then links to useful information so definitely read that note.

    Please, i need your help!

I had a similar problem with a vanilla install of 11g on my local Windows XP box. The difference was that I could connect using SqlPlus but could not connect with Sql Developer.
In Sql Developer, I first tried "Connection type = basic", "Hostname = localhost", "Port = 1521" and "sid = orcl".
I then tried "Connection type = TNS", "Network Alias = ORCL".
    Neither worked.
In the end, I got around the first problem by replacing "localhost" with the machine's IP address. I got around the second problem by looking at windows services and noticing that the "OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListener" service was set to start automatically but was not started. I started it manually and all was good. I'm sure this willl alll fall apart when my IP address changes due to DHCP but at least I will know where to look.

  • Discoverer 11g EUL command line error granting privileges

I'm testing Discoverer 11g (Desktop and Administrator 11.1.3) in order to upgrade from 10g. On 10g we have some scripts that automate many things using EUL command line. The first difference I've found is than in 10g we used directly eulbuilder.jar, now in 11g this jar has moved to $ORACLE_HOME\discoverer\lib and you have to use eulapi.bat located on oracle home's bin directory.
The second difference is that grant_privilege and revoke_privilege commands had stopped working, they do nothing. I've compared via database dumps what they do in 10g and basically they insert/delete some registers on EUL5_ACCESS_PRIVS and EUL5_EUL_USERS and grants/revoke access to EUL tables.
    10g commands working fine
-- Revoke all access and privileges
    java -jar eulbuilder.jar -CONNECT E/E@ORCL -eul E -REVOKE_PRIVILEGE -PRIVILEGE all_user_privs -BUSINESS_AREA_ACCESS % -IDENTIFIER -WILDCARD -role <ROLE_NAME> -LOG LOG.LOG
    -- Grant user privileges
    java -jar eulbuilder.jar -CONNECT E/E@ZEUS -eul E -GRANT_PRIVILEGE -PRIVILEGE all_user_privs -IDENTIFIER -WILDCARD -role <ROLE_NAME> -LOG LOG.LOG
-- Grant business area access privileges
    java -jar eulbuilder.jar -CONNECT E/E@ZEUS -eul E -GRANT_PRIVILEGE -BUSINESS_AREA_ACCESS % -IDENTIFIER -WILDCARD -role <ROLE_NAME> -LOG LOG.LOG
    11g commands doing nothing
-- Revoke all access and privileges
    eulapi.bat -CONNECT E/E@ORCL -eul E -REVOKE_PRIVILEGE -PRIVILEGE all_user_privs -BUSINESS_AREA_ACCESS % -IDENTIFIER -WILDCARD -role <ROLE_NAME> -LOG LOG.LOG
    -- Grant user privileges
    eulapi.bat -CONNECT E/E@ZEUS -eul E -GRANT_PRIVILEGE -PRIVILEGE all_user_privs -IDENTIFIER -WILDCARD -role <ROLE_NAME> -LOG LOG.LOG
-- Grant business area access privileges
    eulapi.bat -CONNECT E/E@ZEUS -eul E -GRANT_PRIVILEGE -BUSINESS_AREA_ACCESS % -IDENTIFIER -WILDCARD -role <ROLE_NAME> -LOG LOG.LOG
Has anybody tried these commands? If so, they worked? I'm afraid this could be a bug, does anybody know how can I report it to Oracle?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
I haven't been able to try them and I am surprised to hear that they do not work.
Assuming that the commands are unaltererd and I would be surprised if the syntax is changed, to report this as a bug you need to raise a service request using MyOracleSupport (formerly MetaLink).
You basically raise it in the same way you are doing it it in here and ask Oracle if the commands you are provdiing are still valid and then ask them to report it to development if they find out that it is a bug and they can reproduce it. The trick here is getting support to reproduce your issue.
If you hear anything further please let us know.
    Best wishes

  • Java.util.zip.ZipException: invalid entry CRC at 11g installation

    Hi,
yesterday I experienced a very strange Oracle OUI behaviour helping one of my friends to install 32-bit 11g development system on 32-bit OEL-5.2. It literally made and still makes me mad as I never saw the installation error like that before. The OEL-5.2 installation and settings are identical to mine, all required packages installed. The 11g installation starts normally (software only installation), all OUI Prerequisite checks passes, but at about 30% of installation (extracting phase) it hangs unexpectedly - no CPU activity anymore - it's just hanging forever without any OUI message staying at 30% of installation. But the errorlog `/opt/oracle/oraInventory/logs/oraInstall2008-11-21_22-55-12AM.err' shows:
java.util.zip.ZipException: invalid entry CRC (expected 0x482e3871 but got 0x1d296a66)

at oracle.sysman.oii.oiij.OiijJarExtractQueue$OiijJarExtractWorker.run(OiijJarExtractQueue.java:341)Since that smelled like installation media file corruption, I checked cksum of the `linux_11gR1_database_1013.zip' and it was identical to the original on the OTN site, also "unzip -t <file.zip>" passed - no errors. Retrying installation (after deleting $ORACLE_HOME), doesn't help. It always hangs, but not at the same point in time. Sometimes it hangs at 5% of installation, sometimes at 20%, or 40%, but always during extracting phase, without OUI message, with similar errorlog.
Today I've tried it once again in order to figure out what's happening. It seemed I would have more luck today. The extracting and even linking phases succeeded, but, when it came to about 80% of installation (configuration pending), the installation suddenly aborted, OUI window disappeared from the screen, with error message visible only on console:

What specially confuses me here is the fact that this OEL-5.2 installation is identical to mine, with same kernel, same kernel params, shared memory settings, etc. Also, this is obviously a java issue, but it is jdk1.5.0_11-b03 shipped with Oracle 11g. I've never had a problem with it.
Anyone has a clue what the heck is this and what causes those errors during Oracle 11g installation?
    Thanks.
    NJ

The cause of errors was a dying Westen Digital drive, specially the 48G partition reserved only for $ORACLE_BASE (/dev/sdb3 mounted on /opt/oracle).
A simple quick scan of unmounted partition (badblocks -v /dev/sdb3) reported more than thousand new bad blocks (compared to the last scan six months ago). Although I strongly believe, specially in the case of WDC drives, that the best utility to "repair" bad blocks is the one that opens a window and prints the message: "Go to the nearest shop and buy a new drive", I was very curious to prove my suspicion just on this drive. After zero-filling the partition with dd, then formatting it (mke2fs -cc) and mounting again, the 11g installation and database creation (on the same partition) successfully completed, performing fast and smoothly. To make sure it was not a casual event, I repeated the installation once again with full success. The database itself is working fine (by now). Well, the whole procedure took me more than four hours, but I'm pretty satisfied. I learned once again - stay away from Western Digital. As Oracle cannot rely on dying drive, my friend is going tomorrow to spend a 150+ euro on two 250G Seagate Barracudas and replace both WDC drives, even though the first drive seems to be healthy.
In general there is no difference between loading correct data from good disk into bad memory and loading the incorrect data from dying disk into good memory. In both cases the pattern is damaged. For everyone who runs into the problem similar to this, and the cause cannot be easily determined, the rule of thumb must be:
    1. test memory and, if it shows any error, check sockets and test memory modules individually
    2. check disks for bad blocks regardless of the result of memory testing
Therefore I consider your answer being generally correct.

You said, "...+I would like to install Release 2(11.1.1.2.0)+ ...". Be careful. 11.1.1.2.0 is not Release 2. The version for Rel 2 is 11.1.2.0, notice that there is one less "1". Also, there is no way to patch from Release 1 to Release 2.
In EDelivery, this is what you should find if you search on "Oracle Fusion Middleware" for "Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)":
First look for this link then drill into it:

  • Oracle Portal,Forms,Reports and Discoverer 11G

    Good evening
    I installed the following products
    * Oracle Database(to the 1st computer)
    * Repository Creation Utility
    * WebLogic Server(to the 2nd computer)
    * Oracle Portal,Forms,Reports and Discoverer 11G(to the 2nd computer) – during installation I chose forms and reports
Identity Management and SSO are not installed, why they are used for?
While connecting to the base with the help of Visard I open Oracle Forms Builder by and create a primitive form. Everything is good. All are shown. I press Run Form which is written as Oracle Forms in browser and suggests keeping a clear file. Particularly in applied file!
Print screen of my monitor yo can see: http://www.sql.ru/forum/actualthread.aspx?tid=678852
    Thanks for attention.

Thanks for attention.the port which you have mentioned is it WLS_FORMS_PORT or any other.
Try running default Forms port WLS_FORMS_PORT that will be 9001
or check for the WLS_FORMS_PORT in the portlist.ini file.
Also are you getting any exception in the Java console.?

  • How to install Discoverer 11g on Web Logic Server with Forms and Reports 11g Rel2

    Hello,
We finally started to migrate from Oracle iAs 10g Release 2 to Oracle Forms and Reports 11g Release 2 using Web Logic. I don't see an option to install Discoverer on the server.
    My OS: windows 2008 R2
    Installed Web Logic 10.3.6
    Forms & Reports: 11.1.2.2.0_64 (64 Bit Forms)
How do I install Discoverer Plus in 11g? All I can find is Discoverer 11g Desktop/Administrator to run on User work Station. We were using discoverer Plus in 10g iAS.
    Thanks
    Rao

    Hi:
I need to install oracle 11g from VNC viewer. The VNC is stalled on linux. I managed login. Now I have a screen that has some icons on the top like, Connection Options, "i", refresh, CTRl, ...
    under that I have
    Accept clipboard from viewers
    Send clipboard to viewers
    Send primary selection to viewers
From the Connection Options window, I checked Hextile for Use encoding and Let remote server deal with mouse cursor.
What is next? How do I connect to the server. (When I login I used hostname:1)
Thankyou.we only know what you post.
    where does linux reside?
    where is VNC installed?
