Discoverer 11g upgrade from 4i

Hi,
We have recently upgraded our discoverer 4i to 11g but we are facing the error:
unable to open the worksheet requested:
- Oracle BI Discoverer is unable to find the requested worksheet.
- BIB-10310 An unknown exception occurred.
We have already tried the notes
Opening Workbook In Discoverer 10g/11g Viewer Fails with Error: Unable To Open The Worksheet Requested. BIB-10310 [ID 1331330.1]
Opening Discoverer 10g/11g Shared Workbook Fails With "Item Not Found" Or "BIB-10310 Unknown Exception Occured" Errors [ID 402609.1]
Any suggestion would be helpful.

Hi Hussein,
We found that the issue was with respect to Discoverer Viewer.
All the Workbooks opening from viewer are ending up with the above error.
The Same report by the same user can be opened in Plus and Desktop.
I found the below information in discoverer application log.

  • 11g Upgrade from 10.2.0.4 in SUSE 10.

    Hi Gurus,
    We have 11g Database upgrade on our EBS 11i environment, database size is around 1.3 TB, i already did test upgrade it was not satisfactory results what client is expecting regarding downtime, i followed manual upgrade as i am very much familier with that, i your views and suggestions to reduce upgrade downtime.
    11g Upgrade from 10.2.0.4 in SUSE 10.

    Hi,
    Is your database is RAC or NON-RAC.
    If you are going for patchset upgrade then you can go for roll upgrade patch.
    as you know, you cannot escape the downtime always. ;-)
    i already did test upgrade it was not satisfactory results what client is expecting regarding downtime, i followed manual upgrade as i am very much familier with thatOracle introduces DBUA with many features, still why you are not going for DBUA?
    You have to test the TEST environment using DBUA ;-)
    If for example For 1.3 TB you are going to consistent backup, still you have down time. then there is no point to think on UPGRADE duration.
    but you can perform pro-actively like.. install the 11g ORACLE_HOME before the downtime. & so on.

  • OIM 11g Upgrade from OIM 9.1.1

    Hi All,
    We are planing to upgrade OIM 9.1.1 to OIM 11g, I have seen the impact analysis in the link "http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/id-mgmt/learnmore/upgrading-oim9x-to-oim11g-wp-365479.pdf". I am bothering about OIM Objects (Forms,Adapters,Lookups), How the impact will be?
    In that document, they said, There is no Prepopulated adapters and changes in Enitity adapters and APIs are also changed.
    1. So de we need to implement all adapters in OIM 11g again, or can we directly import them?
    2. For API changes, Do we need to update all APIs in my custom adapters? or will old APIs work on OIM 11g?
    3. Can we directly load all Lookups directly?
    We dont have any Approval workflows, We have simple direct provisioning using custom adapters, we dont have policies also. Through Groups, we have assigned the AD and Exchange resources to the users
    Please suggest me.
    Thanks

    The document details which pieces of OIM exist in 9.x and 11g. Table 2.2.1 identifies all the request related objects in 9.1 and 11gR1 and which can be migrated. It lists pre-populate adapters, but this could only be on the object side, they will still exist as is in the process side for provisioning. As part of your upgrade plan, you will need to identify how to recreate the non-upgradable items and how they are integrated into the parts of OIM once it is migrated to 11gR1.
    In section 2.7 Entity Adapters and Event Handlers behave differently. So in 9.x if you have any of these for custom code, you will need to identify how to recreate these in 11gR1 and attach them into the existing processes so your existing functionality will be intact.
    As for APIs, none of the old APIs go away. A portionof them listed in section 2.8.2 have been identified as legacy APIs and how they map to the new service. You can continue usage of old ones, but the suggestion is to make any new ones with the latest API set. I woudl assume the only exception for APIs that wont work would be the tcRequestOperationsIntf since this will not exist in 11g. You'll need to use the APIs to access the BPEL and SOA data in the database instead.
    The overall process is an evaluation of every connector you have implemented and all your functionality. Identify which pieces can and can't be migrated, and then either recreate the functionality in 11g or create new functionality within the 11g product instead. It will be a very lengthy process, which is essentially reviewing your whole implementation.
    I hope this gives you some idea of the changes to be expected. The utility will migrate the pieces it can, but then it's up to you and your client to implement the pieces that could not be converted. Then you get to evaluate the new features of the product and which ones you want to use.

  • Oracle 11g upgrade: How to update stale statistics for sys and sysman?

    Hi,
    I am in the process of testing Oracle 11g upgrade from Oracle 10.2.0.3. I have run utlu111i.sql on the 10g database.
    The utility utlu111i.sql reports about the stale statistics for SYS and SYSMAN components.
    I executed dbms_stats.gather_dictionary_stats; dbms_stats.gather_schema_stats('SYS'); and dbms_stats.gather_schema_stats('SYSMAN');
    After that the utlu111i.sql still reports the stale statistics for sys and sysman. Does anyone know how to get rid off this warning successfully?
    Thanks,
    Sreekanth

    Does anyone know how to get rid off this warning successfully?Just ignore the warnings. Check The Utlu111i.Sql Pre-Upgrade Script Reports Stale Sys Statistics - 803774.1 from Metalink.

    Hi Padmanabh
    How are you doing the upgrade?
    Personally, because you have to use a new weblogic server anyway I would install a clean 11g and then re-apply any preferences. With that done I would export the entire EUL from 10g and import it into the clean 11g. You'll be up and running in no time at all.
    There is no need to upgrade the EUL as it is the same in both 10g R2 and 11g.

  • Default the sender name while sending email from discoverer 11g viewer

    Hi,
    Can we put a default value of a sender in the email which are sent from discoverer 11g viewer.??

    Hello
    Yes, you can do this but you have to edit one of the UIX files to do it. The following is taken from my new Discoverer 11h Handbook which will be out later in the year.
    If you want to force users to send Discoverer reports from a prespecified e-mail account, use the following workflow:
    Locate this file: $MIDDLEWARE_HOME/user_projects/domains/ClassicDomain/servers/WLS_DISCO/tmp/_WL_user/discoverer_11.1.1.2.0/<tmpfolder>/war/Email.uix
    NOTE: In my system the name of the tmpfolder was 51oeh7. You may have a different name for <tmpfile> on your system and so may need to do a search for Email.uix.
    Make a safe backup of Email.uix.
    Find the following line and add the information in bold, changing [email protected] with your default email address:
    <contents>
    <messageTextInput required="yes" name="sender" disabled="true"
    tip="[email protected]" columns="40"
    prompt="${uix.data.nls['email.text.sender']}" text="[email protected]"/>
    NOTE:  In the above, you will be replacing text="${uix.eventResult.sender}" with your default email address like: text="myemail.mycompany.com"
    Find the following line and add the line in bold below it:
    <formValue name="event" value="sendEmail" />
    <formValue name="sender" [email protected] />
    NOTE: Make sure the domain name you provide is the same domain you are using for the SMTP server; otherwise, your Discoverer Viewer users will not be able to send e-mail.
    Take a backup of the modified file and place it somewhere safe.
    Stop and restart the WLS_DISCO server in the WebLogic Server Administration Console.
    Notes concerning editing of UIX files:
    Never make any changes without first backing up the UIX file you intend to work on. You need to go slowly and carefully, making backups as you go and trying your modifications on a test system first.
    Any changes you make to a UIX file will not be supported by Oracle, and if you run into any problems with changes you make to a UIX file, you will be on your own, which is why you need a backup.
    If you need future support, you will need to be able to prove that the issue you are encountering is not because of any changes you have made. You will basically need to have a clean instance to prove that the issue is still there.
    Any upgrades or patches that you subsequently apply may overwrite any custom changes that you have made to the UIX files. It will be your responsibility to keep copies of any changes you have made, and it will be your responsibility to make sure these changes are still valid after any upgrade or patch.
    NOTE: I cannot be held responsible if you tamper with your UIX files and mess up your system. You have been warned! That said, there are many examples for editing UIX files on Oracle’s Support site. So long as you are careful and heed the warnings mentioned, you should be fine
    Best wishes

  • Poor performance on Discoverer after upgrade to 11g database

    Hello,
    We have two customers who have experienced a sharp decline in the time it takes to run their queries when they have upgraded to an 11g database.
    One was a full Disco upgrade from 4 to 10 plus the database upgrade.
    The other was purely a database upgrade - Discoverer version was already 10g.
    They were both on 9i database.
    They are both Oracle Apps - and the reports are based on a mixture of everything from standard tables to custom tables - there is no pattern (or one that we have seen) in the poorly performing reports.
    I have not seen much on metalink regarding this - has anyone else come across why this would be?
    It does seem to be only Discoverer - standard reports and the app are performing as expected.
    Any advice welcome,
    Thanks
    Rachael

    Hi Rachael
    There are additional database privileges needed for running in 10g and 11g databases that weren't needed in 9i. Here's the typical privileges that I use:
    accept username prompt'Enter Username: '
    accept pword prompt'Enter Password: '
    create user &username identified by &pword;
    grant connect, resource to &username;
    grant analyze any to &username;
    grant create procedure, create sequence to &username;
    grant create session, create table, create view to &username;
    grant execute any procedure to &username;
    grant global query rewrite to &username;
    grant create any materialized view to &username;
    grant drop any materialized view to &username;
    grant alter any materialized view to &username;
    grant select any table, unlimited tablespace to &username;
    grant execute on sys.dbms_job to &username;
    grant select on sys.v_$parameter to &username;
    I appreciate that all of the above are not needed for all users and some are only needed if the user is going to be scheduling.
    However, I do know that sys.v_$parameter was not needed in 9i. Can you check whether you have this assigned?
    I know this might sound silly too, but you need to refresh your database statistics in order for Discoverer to work well. You might also want to try turning off the query predictor if it is still enabled.

    SAP note 1862446 - Inventory
    load failed... OPatch cannot load inventory for the given Oracle Home
    and re-create the oracle  inventory.
    This has also not helped in anyway.
    Is there a solution to this problem.
    Following is the error that I am getting when I try to Install the patches
    Getting pre-run patch inventory...
    Getting pre-run patch inventory...failed.
    Cannot get pre-run patch inventory.
    Refer to log file

    Oracle Upgrade from 10g to 11g [BRANCHED BY MODERATOR]

  • UPgrade from 10g to 11g

    Dear All,
    I am using 10.2.0.1 database and planning to upgrade to 11.1.0.6 and while executing the utlu102i.sql I found the database is using the old timezone.
    SQL> select * from v$timezone_file;
    FILENAME VERSION
    timezlrg.dat 2
    The issue is there is no patch available for the timezone upgrade for the windows platform in metalink.
    Questions?
    1. How can I upgrade the Time zone version before upgrading the database to 11g, if there is no patch available.
    2. It is mandatory to upgrade the timezone or 11g will automatically upgrade it.
    3. If I will go for the database upgrade without updating the timezone, will update fail.
    4. Do I have to upgrade the timezone to the current database (10.2.0.1) and then install the 11g binaries and start the upgrade or install the 11g binary first and apply the patch on 11g and then start the database upgrade.
    Below is the some part of the output of utlu102i.sql
    Miscellaneous Warnings
    WARNING: --> Database is using an old timezone file version.
    .... Patch the 10.2.0.1.0 database to timezone file version 4
    .... BEFORE upgrading the database. Re-run utlu111i.sql after
    .... patching the database to record the new timezone file version.
    WARNING: --> Database contains stale optimizer statistics.
    .... Refer to the 11g Upgrade Guide for instructions to update
    .... statistics prior to upgrading the database.
    .... Component Schemas with stale statistics:
    .... SYS
    .... OLAPSYS
    .... SYSMAN
    .... CTXSYS
    .... XDB
    WARNING: --> Database contains schemas with objects dependent on network
    packages.
    .... Refer to the 11g Upgrade Guide for instructions to configure Network ACLs.
    .... USER SYSMAN has dependent objects.
    WARNING: --> EM Database Control Repository exists in the database.
    .... Direct downgrade of EM Database Control is not supported. Refer to the
    .... 11g Upgrade Guide for instructions to save the EM data prior to upgrade.
    Eagarly waiting for your response.
    Thanks in advance.

    1. How can I upgrade the Time zone version before upgrading the database to 11g, if there is no patch available.
    See Metalink Document How To Apply The V4 DST Patches To Windows Clients or Servers [ID 417893.1], this should help you here.
    2. It is mandatory to upgrade the timezone or 11g will automatically upgrade it.
    You will need to update the Timezone to V4 prior to attempting an upgrade
    3. If I will go for the database upgrade without updating the timezone, will update fail.
    Yes that upgrade will not work without first updating the timezone for the 10.2.0.1 database you have
    4. Do I have to upgrade the timezone to the current database (10.2.0.1) and then install the 11g binaries and start the upgrade or install the 11g binary first and apply the patch on 11g and then start the database upgrade.
    The binary installations can be handled separately, however no upgrade operations can happen until the DST v4 is taken care of for the upgrade.

  • Images after upgrade from 10g to 11g

    We recently upgraded from 10g to 11g and all the images are broke in the dashboard.
    Can anyone provide the steps needs to be done in order to fix the broken images?
    Thanks.

    Put image files at
    Drive:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_BI1\bifoundation\web\app\res\s_blafp\images
    Drive:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\servers\bi_server1\tmp\_WL_user\analytics_11.1.1\7dezjl\war\res\s_blafp\images
    If required
    Drive:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\servers\AdminServer\tmp\.appmergegen_1291264099332\analytics.ear\ukjjdc\res\s_blafp\images
    Call them using fmap
    Syntax: fmap:images/imagename.imageformat
    for e.g: fmap:images/geograph.jpg

  • Challenges while Upgrading from OBIEE 10g to 11g

    Hi Gurus,
    This is Kiran again. This time I am back with the upgradation issues. We have a client which is currently on OBIEE 10g. All components are already configured in OBIEE 10g with client on RPD, Catalog and implemented all security levels for those.
    Now the challenge is to upgrade all activities which we have configured in OBIEE 10g. I have seen lot of stuff online and understood how to upgrade from OBIEE 10g to OBIEE 11g by simply clicking on ua.bat file. But I am unable to understand the process how it is upgrading the securities and environments.
    Can anyone help me out by providing necessary stuff I need to take care of before taking the decision to upgrade from OBIEE 10g to 11g.
    And also please clear me whether we will have any challenges in upgrading process. If yes, then what kind of challenges we will face and what kind of necessary steps we need to implement to resolve it.
    What kind of Architecture we need to follow?
    How Schedulers will get upgraded?
    Please help me out with your real experiences (Not the online websites). Your response will be highly appreciated and it will help lot of OBIEE professionals who are in the process of upgradation.
    Thanks in Advance to all OBIEE GURUS.
    Kiran

    Hi Valli,

  • Upgrade from 11i to r12 application servers with Discoverer 10g

    Hello, one and all.
    I have recently upgraded from 11i to r12 Oracle financial application server, after much patching and testing we finally came to the Discoverer application server.
    Most workbooks open fine, however it seems that some of them (about 3%) reference columns that no longer exist in r12, for example, SET_Of_BOOKS_ID has become LEDGER_ID in r12 on the gl.gl_je_lines table.
    This causes any workbook that references that business area to return an error 'Database Error - ORA-00904: " O974567"."SET_OF_BOOKS_ID": invalid identifier.
    Well and good; I think that that's caused by the EUL not being refreshed after the upgrade, so I go to the Discoverer administrator and refresh the general ledger Business area. This unfortunately renames several objects inside the business area, including SET_OF_BOOKS_ID to LEDGER_ID, so instead of that error, we now get several 'Missing item or condition' errors until the workbook will not open at all with an 'Item dependency "" not found in the EUL.' error. This i assume is because the workbooks still reference the old items.
    I'm guessing that several Business areas and objects therein have been renamed since nearly none of the workbooks will open now. I have restored the EUL from a backup (imported all the *.eex files) however I was wondering if anyone had faced this issue.
    I apologize as I have very little understanding of Discoverer and this might be a simple fix, but I'm at this point willing to try anything for help.
    Thanks!

    Hi Srini
    Srini,
    To understand your above reply,
    You say that
    1) If they are based on 11i Discoverer EUL and Folders then export EUL And WorkBooks and Import them
    into R12 Discoverer Environment..Refresh the EUL..So ORACLE will take care of the changes like 11i SOB vs R12 Ledegrs??Pl open a SR with Support on what to do with seeded EUL as part of this upgrade - I suspect you will need to import the R12 EUL as part of this upgrade.
    >
    2) If they are Custom SQL reports from 11i then just RECREATE them from SCRATCH..Correct - after you verify that they are changed to reflect the R12 data model

    Am I right?
