Discoverer 4.1 Summary creation hanging

Is anyone out there experiencing discoverer v4.1 or v3.1 hanging when creating summaries?
I have created summaries on both versions and when the progess bar states 'inialising summary creation...100%' it just hangs. I have left it in this state overnight in case there was some processes going on which I couldn't see but it was still hanging when I came back in the morning. Please help as the situation is getting desperate.
Maria

Gurman,
The Privilege that are required to create a Summary Folder using Materialized views are,
1. Query Rewrite.
2. Create Any Materialized View.
3. Drop Any Materialized View.
4. Alter Any Materialized View.
So Login into SQL*Plus as SYS User or SYSTEM User or as any DBA User and execute the below SQL,
SQL> Grant Query ReWrite, Create Any Materialize View, Alter Any Materialized View, Drop Any Materialized View to <EUL OWNDER>;
This will solve your issue.
Thanks,
Selva.

  • Cache creation hang on .txt file

    I have 50+ sites defined.
    This one directory hangs on site cache creation and
    dreamweaver never gets past any file.
    I thought it might have been a specific file, and have
    removed one after another to discover it doesn't care what the file
    is, it just fails to create a site on this directory, or anything
    containing this directory.
    I have checked permissions and am stumped by this.
    Any ideas?

    Hi guys,
    Thanks for your help!
    I did the modifications you advised me. It's working well:
    Now I'd like the following: If make "SAVE" for the same file three times, I'd like it to be like in the attached txt file (data):
    How can I implement it?  I've  tried it with "Set File Position" but it's not working.
    Best regards

  • Informatica powercenter 8.6.1 repository creation hang

    Hi everybody;
    I installed Informatica PowerCenter 8.6.1 with hot fix 11 on a Windows 2003 server, the installation went ok, the domain was created in Oracle database 10g R2 with a character set as follow: NLS_CHARACTERSET AL32UTF8 and NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET AL16UTF16. The database is hosted on a windows server 2003 machine.
    The problem is with the repository service, it hangs during the creation. What I noticed is as follows:
    The informatica server gets a connection to the database with the repository user info_rep which already has the DBA role.
    The informatica server always hang after issuing an SQL statement for retrieving the nls_length_semantics parameter, it seems that the database returns the result to the informatica server but it hang for some reason.
    Any idea about what is going on, and how to solve this problem?
    Thank you all

    Try to change of browser (from IE to firefox for instance) ?
    And double check that the user has the good privileges ie the right to read the nls parameter.
    If you have identified the statement that hangs, test if with SQL Plus to see if it comes from the database
    of from Informatica.
    And if you don't find, made a call (Service Request) to the support. http://support.oracle.com
    Success

  • PDF creation hangs on Acrobat XI on Firefox with MS7

    Up to now Acrobat XI has created PDF documents from websites without a problem.  However since the new year it has started to hang - sometimes completely (i.e. no document is created), sometimes a document is created but the "Creating Adobe PDF" Window doesn't close (see below).  I'm using Firefox on MS7.  Acrobat Update 11.0.10 was installed December 12th, the last MS security update was December 18th, Firefox 34.0.5 on December 10th.  The problem with the create window not closing also occurs on IE, but it hasn't failed to create a PDF (yet).  Any ideas?

    Hello, this also fixes the problem, and yet no one answered me. More about the discussion on this issue is here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1166751?tstart=60
    In Acrobat X, I also solved the problem, if you're interested, here's more: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1029000?tstart=0
    Until this error is corrected, for my purposes Acrobat Pro XI unusable.

  • PSE 10 Slide Show Creation hangs programm

    Hello,
    when trying to create a new slide show from PS Organizer the program hangs completely. I can still chose the options like duration and effects, but after accepting these the next window with the output format options won't show. The program doesn't react on any input and must be cancelled via the task manager. When clicking somewhere in the program window you can hear a windows sound like clicking outside a dialog box, but this box cannot be seen.
    Any suggestions are welcome.

  • Initial account creation hangs

    We've encountered this in nearly every new Yosemite machine we've unboxed in the last month (about 8 total, from Mac Minis to MacBook Pros). On first boot, when we create the initial user account it hangs. The progress wheel stops spinning and the Mac won't do anything. We've let them sit for up to 15 minutes and it never gets past that stage. If we hard reboot, Setup Assistant starts over but we can't create a user account with the same name we originally tried to use, because in fact the account was created. Once we complete Setup Assistant, which does not hang the second time through, we find that both accounts have been created.
    We've tried this with and without first joining a WiFi network. Anyone else experiencing this? Anyone have a workaround other than what we do now, which is just hard reboot and add another account?

    Since they're new machines, contact Apple's Support and let them deal with the problem. You have 90-day free phone support, 3 years if you bought the AppleCare Protection Plan.

  • Database Creation hangs - Ora10g - RHEL3

    Can anybody create oracle10g database on RHEL3 without any problem?
    When I try to create Custom or General Purpose database, the process hangs at 93% (Custom) or at 78% (General Purpose), and nothing happens for hours and hours ...
    The CPU usage is 100% (AthlonXP 2400+), the memory usage is 100% (1GB), the swap usage ~5%

  • PDF Creation hangs at "building font table"

    When printing the current page of a multipe page document, it takes at least two minutes to make the pdf... if it makes it that far.  Sometimes the print will fail with the messages:
    %%[ Error: undefined: OffendingCommand: t, ]%%
    %%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ] %%
    %%[ warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
    However, if it does succeed in creating the PDF, following documents will usually work fine (for awhile).
    Does anyone have a fix for this?
    P.S. I found a reference to a post from Tim Kroehler about "font creation being too slow", but I could not find that post to see if it would help.

    This sounds very familiar.
    Various versions of Java have over the years installed faces of the Lucida font family
    in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\lib\fonts
    (or similar depending upon the OS and Java version) directory.
    Java 7.x seems to have only the Lucida Sans Regular font in that directory.
    Other applications install as part of their own directories various other Java libraries also with a fonts directory with up to eight different faces of Lucida. In those which I find on my system, all the fonts have “restricted embedding.”
    And those fonts installed by Java were set for “restricted embedding.” No PDF production program should ever allow such fonts to be embedded due to the licensing thereof. We at Adobe won't comment further on what Nitro may or may not be doing legally!!!
    Various font vendors do license various faces of the Lucida family that do allow embedding. In fact some of them are bundled with Windows and/or Office although Lucida Sans Bold  doesn't appear to be one of those.

  • Disk Image Creation hanging

    I wanted to be able to lock certain files with a password, so I created a 2.8 GB disk image to store them in. Now that I am realizing the 2.8 GB is not enough, I'm trying to either increase it or create a second disk image that is 8 to 10 GB and then transfer the contents there.
    Increasing the current image size failed. And every time I go to create a second one, it just sits at the halfway point in the progress bar. I figured some hard disk or network action was causing it to falter, so I turned all services off, disconnected the ethernet cable and tried again; same results.
    Any idea?

    as i explained, a regular r=disk image will take as much space on the hard drive as the max size of the image you specify at creation. this is highly inefficient. a sparse image will only take as much space as the data inside. and you can choose any max size you want. choose 300GB. you'll never reach it and so you'll never have to resize.
    the difference between sparse bundle and a regular sparse image is that a sparse bundle is split in a number of bands. that makes it convenient to use when doing incremental backups with time machine. if you don't use time machine then you don't need to worry about that.

  • Discoverer Plus hangs

    When working in Discoverer Plus, the cursor will hang and I won't be able to do anything else except for exit and save. Has anyone else had this problem?
    Thanks.

    We are on 4.1.40.2 We had a hang up problem.We did the following:
    1) In Options\General we have "run query automatically"
    2) In Options\Advanced uncheck "disable automatic querying"
    3) We also removed any background colour in page items.
    Our problem seemed to go away. Maybe we were just lucky.
    Good luck.

  • Oracle 8.1.7.4 / Redhat 7.3 : tablespace creation never ends

    Hi,
    We're running Oracle 8.1.7.4 on Redhat 7.3. System memory is 256 MB (2x128).
    After increasing memory to 1Go (2x512) we're facing a strange problem.
    Tablespaces re-creation hangs, we first drop and then create tablespaces reusing datafiles :
    DROP TABLESPACE TST1 INCLUDING CONTENTS CASCADE CONSTRAINTS;
    DROP TABLESPACE TSI1 INCLUDING CONTENTS CASCADE CONSTRAINTS;
    CREATE TABLESPACE TST1 DATAFILE '?/tst1.dbf' SIZE 1050M REUSE DEFAULT STORAGE (MAXEXTENTS 121 PCTINCREASE 1);
    CREATE TABLESPACE TSI1 DATAFILE '?/tsi1.dbf' SIZE 700M REUS
    E DEFAULT STORAGE (MAXEXTENTS 121 PCTINCREASE 1);
    In the alert.log, drops and first tablespace creation are completed.
    Second tablespace is not created and the oracle process keeps running consuming 99% CPU.
    strace on process after hangs shows nothing.
    Using toad, we see that last sql command issued by session is insert into $ts.... there's no current statement.
    Everything works fine if we set memory back to 256 MB.
    This problem first appeared in production environnement, and we got same problem in dev environnement, so it happens on several servers (Compaq ML370).
    Got no idea, what else could we check to find where's the bug ? Should we tune some oracle or kernel parameters after increasing mem ?
    Mike.

    oracle 8i ouch.........that's desupported, but anyways........
    check your SHMMAX to see may be it's limiting the use of memory
