Discoverer 4i Admin

Hi!!
I installed Discoverer 4.1 in 11.5.9, and the tabs for Install tutorial are not available in EUL manager, whereas they were available in Vision Database for the same.
Moreover for any business Area that I create, it only has the EUL definition tables availables and none of the tables for the data in the same,for creating the workbooks/worksheets.
I am trying to have all the Business Areas defined in a single user EUL, named : "eul" ,for both Applications as well as database users, and the above problems persist.
Thanking you in anticipation..

Further to the good advice from Con, you should find out which directory is the correct OracleHome directory as, for example, you may have installed Disco Admin 10g on the same box - but in a different directory - from Disco Admin 4.
First thing I'd do is see where you put Disco Admin 10g and make sure the Oracle home has the appropriate tnsnames.ora (and sqlnet.ora) file for that Oracle home.
ie: Let's say you setup 10g in: c:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1 (a popular place) and there would be a subdirectory of: network\admin below it.
That's where you'd copy your existing 4.x tnsnames.ora, sqlnet.ora for now to see if okay.
Note that your v4.x location is a bit different in that network is probably net80, but apart from that, it's similar.
If still having problems, then to determine your correct Oracle home you can check the registry but check the aforementioned first.

  • AS 10g 904 Discoverer Viewer and remote db EUL

    I have installed Oracle AS 10g (9.0.4) with Discoverer Viewer on a RH AS3 box. I need an EUL setup on remote db (9.2.0.5). Do I have to have Discoverer Windows Admin tool or should I be able to setup an EUL from scratch with the java command line? I am getting core dumps trying to do create_eul using the java command line method. The log file is complaining about no default eul or specified schema tables available. Any help much appreciated.

    Add the host name to your etc/hosts file. If you are on windows it would be under c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. Try adding that entry to ur hosts file along with the actual ip address. That should make it work.
    Thanks,

  • Control User Access in Desktop/Admin

    Hi,
    I have two versions of Discoverer Desktop/Admin software - one is 10.1.2.45.48 and another is 10.1.2.54.25. Since both are 10g versions there is no change in EUL. Both versions of discoverer are configured for same set of databases.(database versions are 9i and 10gR2)
    There is a chance that I open a workbook in 54.25 version of discoverer, make some changes and save it. Obviously Oracle doesnt support backward compatibility. So I want to know can we restrict such things. I mean an alert or prevent making any changes in EUL/Workbook.
    Cherrish

    Hi Cherrish
    I guess the question I would have to ask is why do you want to keep both versions of Discoverer Admin / Desktop on your machine? Because you have upgraded to 10.1.2.54.25 why don't you delete the older 10.1.2.45.48?
    There is no need for you to keep it any longer and it will only cause problems if you leave it there.
    As to your question, I'm afraid there is no way to prevent any changes in an EUL / Workbook.

  • Discoverer 11g Desktop  - Error

    Environment: R12.1.1 E-Business Suite
    Discoverer 11g Desktop
    I installed Discoverer 11g Desktop on XP Mode in Windows 7.
    When I click on OK after entering user name and password, I get the error message, Missing application security library fndpu115.
    10g works fine on Windows XP. I'm wondering there is a difference between native windows XP vs XP mode in Windows 7.
    Any thoughts or comments?
    Thanks,

    Hi, just ran into the same problem today with the Windows 7 machine. Installed Windows Virtual PC and installed Discoverer BI and Discoverer BI Admin. (11.1.1.1). Came up with
    two problems. First problem was it couldn't find msvcr71.dll. So I searched for it on my virtual xp machine and copied it over to c:\oracle\product\11.1.1\as_1\bin directory. Then the next problem was Missing Applications Security Library: fndpu115. I did some reading and found that I needed to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (SP1) (x86) on the virtual machine. I was then able to log into discoverer. Hope this helps everyone as a workaround.

  • How to use seeded discoverer reports

    Hi,
    i want to use seeded discoverer reports from Human Resources Intelligence - End User (responsibility)
    if i run this reports in apps i am not getting any output(no result).
    so i want to see the workbook creation(i mean contents in the workbook) . how its developed .
    how do i identify the workbook and busineess area respect to the report...how do i open this in discoverer tool(admin/desktop)...
    pl help me out
    regards,
    kumar

    Normally I open the discoverer report in Discoverer Desktop using my Application user id which has the grants on certain responsibility. This responsibility should have access to the disco workbooks and also the business area and folders. If for instance you open with another login which does not have the access, it will pop up this error message like 'Substitute Item', it means it could not find the item in that particular folder - Business area.
    For example in Employee Business Area you have Employee Data Folder with First Name Item and Last Name item. If your login does not have access to it, it will pop up error message that said it could not find "First Name" and looking for substitute item to make the disco work.

    Hi
    Thanks for this. A couple of things come to mind. First, it looks like you may have done more than one installation of the Discoverer 10g Admin / Desktop Install and it also looks as though you have an older Discoverer sitting out there, presumably a Discoverer 4 version. How did I spot this?
    Firstly, the name you are using for you 10g installation is BIToolsHome_2. This tells me that you either have 2 or you had a failed install number 1. If you happen to be calling the executable from the first install with the PATH set to the second install this will cause a problem.
    Secondly, Discoverer 4 always installs using the ORANT folder.
    I am not sure what you have inside d:\oracle\bin or even in c:\oracle\discoverer\bin. These could definitely be causing problems elsewhere but probably not impacting Discoverer 10.
    10g Discoverer Admin / Desktop needs these 4 entries in the path and these are there, albeit againt BIToolsHome_2 and not 1:
    C:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1\bin;
    C:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1\jlib;
    C:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1\jre\1.4.2\bin\client;
    C:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1\jre\1.4.2\bin;
    First things first, we need to verify that you don't have an old version 1 hanging around.
    Right-click on the icon to start Admin. In your case it should look like this: C:\Oracle\BIToolsHome_2\bin\dis51adm.exe
    Right-click on the icon to start Desktop. It should look like this: C:\Oracle\BIToolsHome_2\bin\dis51usr.exe
    Please verify the above and let me know if everything looks right.

  • Correct Discoverer version for EBS 11.5.10

    Dear Members :
    Could you please guide me the right Discoverer Version, the link to download from and configuration steps, in order to connect to EBS 11.5.10 (base) running on Linux ?
    I am completely confused looking at so many views and my own failure with ver 4.1.37 (both admin & desktop), login error (same TNS setting I am using with so many applications to connect to database).
    Do I need to check anything on apps server side - do appreciate it very much ?
    Thanks.

    [1] Oracle Discoverer 4i Plus Release-4.1.48.08.00
    Discoverer Model: 4.1.48.08.00
    Discoverer Server: V4.1.48.08.00
    End User Layer:V4.1.14.08.0.0.0 etc.
    Could you please tell me now, which Discoverer Standalone (Admin/Desktop), should I go for ?
    Regards
    AtanuDisco 4.1 is the version that comes bundled with EBS 11.5.10. It is currently de-supported (http://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/2006/04/discoverer_4i_to_be_desupporte.html)
    You can download 4.1.37 Admin/Desktop version from here (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/discoverer/downloads/index-095113.html) and you will have to request Support to provide you the 4.1.48 patch which you will need to apply.

    Hi Lavanya,
              Some times this happens because of cache issues...check your cache notifications in IR and also refresh CACHE both in your ABAP and JAVA stack(delta and full by providing URL's).Then you would be able to see your standard functions......

  • Discover Desktop Question.

    hi,
    i've installed discoverer desktop edition on a client.
    i made necessary changes to tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora
    when i try to login using user disco01/disco01@testgl
    i get an error saying, you don't have access to any end user layer tables.
    the same things works on the server where i've installed discoverer with admin and desktop.
    the only difference is the versions.
    the desktop edition on the client machine is 9.0.4, where as the one on the server is 10.1.2.3 (this was patched sometime back by an other dba)
    in options, i've checked the option to connect to both standard and application eul and given the gateway userid and foundation name.
    in 10.1.2.3 edition, there was a tab for selecting the default EUL to login. but i don't have that option in 9.0.4.
    is that the reason?
    if so, how do i set the default eul in 9.0.4?
    can this be upgraded to 10.1.2.3? i don't think this is feasible, since i need to install this on 34 clients
    thanks,
    jazz

    Jazz,
    What is the application release?
    is that the reason?I believe so.
    if so, how do i set the default eul in 9.0.4? What is the version of Discoverer you have installed on the server?
    can this be upgraded to 10.1.2.3? i don't think this is feasible, since i need to install this on 34 clientsTry to upgrade Discoverer administrator on one client, and see if you can access the EUL.
    Please refer to the following documents for the complete steps you need to follow. The version of the Discoverer administrator you need to install on the clients is also mentioned in these documents.

  • Failed to update system registry

    I have a problem with Discoverer Desktop 4.1.48.06
    I must realise a MSI package for this application.
    The package works and the application with administrators privileges works to !
    But when I'm with users without rights I have this error when I launch Discoverer Desktop (DIS4USR.EXE)
    After investigation with regmon I put full control for everyone on this keys but there is the same error :
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Dis.Document
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Discoverer.Application
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.DIS
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{470A152C-5FC1-11D1-A434-0000F8AE4944}
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{AD7CE4E0-C391-11CE-9C10-08002BE52B53}
    But it's impossible to put every discoverer users admin of the workstation !
    There is too many users around the world in my company who use this application !
    Anyone could help me ?

    Extracted from Metalink:
    "There are two possible solutions:
    1) Add the user to Power Users or Administrator group.
    2)Grant full control privilege on the following registry to Users group:
    1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oracle
    2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes
    - .DIS
    - Dis.Document
    - Discoverer.Application
    - CLSID\{470A152C-5FC1-11D1-A434-0000F8AE4944}
    - CLSID\{AD7CE4E0-C391-11CE-9C10-08002BE52B53}
    This second solution usually works; however it is not a supported solution.
    It is recommended that you backup the registry before apply any change."
    Seems like you tried both and both failed....
    Is it possible for you to upgrade your Discoverer release? Maybe you should consider this option because Discoverer 4.1.37 is no longer supported by Oracle.

  • Oracle Grid Scheduled jobs disappear from active tab?

    Thread was posted before as a similar situation.
    Grid Control jobs disappeared from schedule
    But was never answered;
    For Grid control v10.2.0.3 Unix box.
    I was wondering if this is a bug within OGC. Some of the scheduled jobs disappear from the active tab and have to be re-submitted. Does anyone or has anyone experienced this? Agents are in synch, and the only thing that was done was a bounce of the database and possibly the box itself.
    Thanks,
    Mark S.

    Hi,
    I have upgraded Discoverer 4i EUL to 10g EUL by using auto upgrade utility which comes with the Disocverer 10.1.2 and installed the Discoverer 10g Admin Edition on my PC. And I executed the batchusr_app.sql and assigned a user DISCREP(other than APPS). We are in APPS mode EUL. The script execution completed fine and the EUL5 packages were created under the DISCREP owner. When I log into the Discoverer Admin and select Tools/Privileges and at the point of assigning the result tables to a schema which is DISCREP, I am getting a message saying that 'EUL5_BATCH_REPOSITORY' package is wrong version and batchusr.sql script needs to be run. I ran the batchusr.sql script and when tried to assign the schema to own result tables it gave me the same message.
    Any ideas. You may have gone through this during your upgrades or installation.
    Thanks,
    Sabbani

  • Deleting Discoverer report from Admin

    Hi,
    We have exported a discoverer report using Admin from a database D1.
    Then imported that report using admin in another database D2.
    But i couldn't see the report in the desktop of database D2....don't know why....
    Can anybody sugggest a way to delete this report from Admin of database D2 ?
    Thank you

    Thanks for the reply.
    Actually we were not able to see the report in the desktop though we tried in different ways.
    So we did the following to delete the report from Admin using command prompt as follows
    dis4adm.exe /connect <eulowner>/<eulowner password>@<database> /delete /workbook "<workbook name>"
    where "<workbook name>" is either "EUL Data Definition" or "Query Statistics".

    Gents
    I'm trying to import a PL/SQL function. In fact this functions is in a package.
    When I try to import in Discoverer Admin, I'm not able to see this package and the function.
    It's possible import a function from a package in Discoverer?
    Must a grant some privilege in package or create a synonym?
    Regards
    Honorio

    Hey,
    I have a similar problem.
    I created a PL/SQL Function which i registered in my EUL. Bun when I'm using this function on an item in a custom folder, this custom folder disappeared from my Discoverer Plus list of folders? When I delete the item which uses this function the folder shows up in my Discoverer Plus list of folders.
