Discoverer 4i Plus Problem

Hi,
I have installed 9iAS 1.0.2.2 on Windows 2000 server which has two network ip addresses. One of the ip address is not functioning well. So the prefeences.txt file contains the functioning ip address. Also I have set this ip in the registerpreference.bat file. But still whenever I register preference, session or collector it still shows that all are registered on the non-functioning ip.
Discovere Plus works well on the server where 9iAS is installed through IE but whenever I try to connect from other machines it gives 'Wide area network connection failed. Failed to connect to locator pointed to by locator.ior file. Local area network connection failed. Failed to connect to locator using OSAgent. Gatekeeper connection failed.'
Please can someone help me?
Regards,
Roshni

  • Discoverer 4i Plus returns no data when using views with db link references

I am using Discoverer 41 Plus to view reports online.
When I create a worksheet based on a view, that only references local tables, everything is OK and Disco plus shows the output OK.
When I create a worksheet based on a view, that references a Database link, Disco plus gives me an "Query caused no data to be returned" error.
Is this to be expected from Discoverer Plus?
    Thanks - Sue.

I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the default position (and default aggregate) for the EUL folder item? I can see that some of the folders have number type items with default position 'Data Point' and others have these with default position of 'Top or Side'. I'm totally stabbing around in the dark here; looking at EUL folders which exhibit the problem and those which don't.
I've tried changing one field to 'Data Point' and it hasn't helped. Will try changing the join items now I think.
If anyone has any comments, would be v. grateful as I'm looking at dropping folders which have quite a bit of code around them and trying to re-create them exactly, which is a risky and horrible solution.

    Please, i need your help!

I had a similar problem with a vanilla install of 11g on my local Windows XP box. The difference was that I could connect using SqlPlus but could not connect with Sql Developer.
In Sql Developer, I first tried "Connection type = basic", "Hostname = localhost", "Port = 1521" and "sid = orcl".
I then tried "Connection type = TNS", "Network Alias = ORCL".
    Neither worked.
In the end, I got around the first problem by replacing "localhost" with the machine's IP address. I got around the second problem by looking at windows services and noticing that the "OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListener" service was set to start automatically but was not started. I started it manually and all was good. I'm sure this willl alll fall apart when my IP address changes due to DHCP but at least I will know where to look.

  • Scheduling Manager in Discoverer 4i plus 4.1.48.08.00

    Hi
I am trying to schedule a discoverer report to run overnight using Discoverer 4i plus 4.1.48.08.00 and cannot find anywhere to do this . The only thing I can see is an option to open results for a scheduled report.
I know I can do this via Discoverer Desktop . The only problem is that the Accountant wants to run the report from his PC and he doesn't have Discoverer Desktop but has Discoverer Plus.
Is there any way around this ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
The best free third party scheduler is the one native to Windows - typically called AT.
You'll find it here: Start | Programs | Accesories | System Tools | Scheduled Tasks
When you get there you should see a link called Add Scheduled Task
If you have a copy of my Oracle Discoverer 10g Handbook (which is more than 75% valid for Discoverer 4 end users and 95% valid for administrators) you will find a complete work flow for setting up third party scheduling Discoverer using AT.
I also have a paper on mu downloads page that talks about third party scheduling : http://ascbi.com/downloads.htm

  • Connecting Discoverer 4i Plus

    Hi there!
I have a problem with the Discoverer 4i Plus....
When I try to connect to the Application Server, I received this Connection Error message: "Failed to connect to locator XPTOOracleDiscovererLocator4 pointed by locator.ior file at ...."
Can anyone tell me a way to fix this problem?
    Regards,
    GDS

We had the same problem. There is a patch available on oracle metalink that will upgrade disco admin edition (to version 4.1.36), which will then update your EUL.
Here is how you get it:
    -go to: "metalink.oracle.com"
    -click: "patches"
-click: "Click here for Patches released..."
    -select product: "Discoverer admin..."
    -select platform: "MS Windows NT/2000..."
    and there it is...
    here is the patch info:
    ID:657540 Patchset::1750539
Discoverer 4.1 Admin and Desktop Edition Patch version 4.1.36 for MS Windows NT

  • Discoverer 4i Plus Applet not initializing Win2k/IE6 - Solution

    Hi,
I finally got a solution to the problem of the Discoverer 4i Plus Applet not launching on IE 6.0 Windows2000 machines.
When you click on the image "Click to Start" the area goes grey and the applet never comes up. When you look at the java console you will notice a class not found exception. The reasons are as follows :
    - IE 6.0 doesn't come with a built in JVM unlike the earlier versions. The JVM resides with the OS i.e. Windows2000 or WindowsXP.
    - When launching the Discoverer applet you need to invoke the appropriate htm page
    e.g. http://serverURL/discwb4/html/english/ms_ie/start_ie.htm
This htm page doesn't have any hint in the <applet> tag to use jinitiator or any other JVM to launch the applet, assuming that since the IE browser has an embedded JVM the applet will be launched. However this fails to happen since IE6.0 which ships with Window200 and Windows XP doesn't have a built in JVM. Why the JVM in the OS doen't take of that I don't know as yet. Therefore the applet fails to load and you get a class not found exception that can be verified thru the browser's java console.
    - So instead of calling the IE configured page start_ie.htm call the corresponding netscape page like http://serverURL/discwb4/html/english/netscape/start_nn.htm. The start_nn.htm page has the appropriate <embed> tags to hint the initialization of the applet using jinitiator or other JVM. Therefore the applet gets launched.
Hope this helps all those who have had to face this issue.

    Hi Simon
    (4) Can I take the user automatically to the list of database workbooks ("Open Workbook from Database" dialogue box) without the user having to choose "Open an existing workbook" and "Database"?
Yes user can automatically view the workbooks or the worksheet or even a particular page of the worksheet.
Give the URL to the user and ask the user to run the URL from his/her browser. The URL shloud however contain the username, password, database name, workbook name etc...
This way we can bypass all the login screens and go directly to the desired page.
    URL is as follows
    http://hostname.domain/program_name/?us=APPS&db=devl&wb=Wb3&pw=apps
    where
hostname.domain/program_name is where ur discoverer viewer is residing
    us is the username
    pw is the password
db is the database u wnat to connect to
wb is the workbook u want to open
    Try this , this works.

  • Discoverer 4i Plus: Printing

I noticed the web version of Discoverer will print every page of your report. It doesn't allow the end user to control the column width, or specify which pages you want to print.
For now I ask my users to export to Excel to print out the reports. When will this be fixed?
I'm using Oracle Discoverer 4i Plus Release 4.1.43.07

I see that this is going to be fixed in a future release as an enhancement request 1677079. This was entered in March.

  • Discoverer Viewer/Plus 10g after a migration from Discoverer 4i

    Hi, I upgrated Discoverer4i to Discoverer 10g with Ebusiness Suite 11i ( 11.5.9) without installin AS 10g
    I followed the note: http://oracle-magic.blogspot.com/2006/11/upgrading-discoverer-4i-to-10g-on-apps.html
If I use Discoverer Administrator and Desktop it works perfectly (I connect as an Oracle Application User)
Now, I want to see my reports with Discoverer Viewer/Plus but I don't understand how to do it (always connecting with an Oracle Application user).
My previous URL (with Discoverer4i) was: http://gnvdev.ote.gr:8025/discoverer4i/viewer
Now, after the Discoverer 10g installation I can connect to the "Welcome to Oracle Business Intelligence 10g (10.1.2)" page with the following URL:http://gnvdev.ote.gr:7779/
I didn't understand how Ebusiness Suite 11i ( 11.5.9) can communicate with Discoverer 10g in order to see reports from the web
Can anyone help to understand where and how I should modify anything in order to see my reports with Discoverer Viewer or Plus
    Thank you
    Alex

If you have followed all the steps in "Note: 313418.1 - Using Discoverer 10.1.2 with Oracle E-Business Suite 11i" then you should be able to access Discoverer Plus/Viewer through the following links:
    Discoverer Plus:
    http://gnvdev.ote.gr:7779//discoverer/plus
    Discoverer Viewer:
    http://gnvdev.ote.gr:7779//discoverer/viewer
The above links will prompt for some input, all what you need to provide is:
    - Applications Username
    - Applications Password
    - Database (SID)

  • Create a dashboard like a page on Discoverer Desktop / Plus?

    Hi,
Is it possible to create a dashboard like a page on Discoverer Desktop / Plus / Viewer. A page (or workbook sheet) with 4 – 6 graphs and one table?
e.g. below layout (G is my graph and T is table)
    G1 | G2
    G3 | G4
    G5 | T1
    Thanks

    Hi
This is not possible in Discoverer Plus, Viewer or Desktop. However, using Portal you can do this by having six different, or releated, Discoverer graphs displayed side by side. You just create six different portlets. Simple as that.

  • Does Discoverer 10g Plus allow uploading of reports from local drives?

    Hi ,
Does Discoverer 10g Plus allow uploading of reports from local drives? Or like 4i is this only possible from Desktop Client?
    Regards
    Ram

No, you can't bring in Disco workbooks from a local drive with 10g Plus.
Only from the database and/or scheduled workbooks.

  • Login form of Discoverer 10g Plus/Viewer

    Hi all,
can you tell me if there is a way to get the login form of Discoverer 10g Plus/Viewer to remember the last login credentials (except password) like the Desktop version do? Have I missed a setting in preferences file or AS Control?
OK I can create an own HTML page which looks exactly the same as the login page and saves the values in a cookie but time is money and I think this feature should be solved by Oracle itself.
    Thanks in advance,
    Uwe

  • Multiple EUL Connections in Discoverer 9i Plus

Discoverer 9i Plus doesn't allow you to change your default EUL anymore. I currently have to set up different connections for each EUL. Is there a way to set up one connection and change between my EULs like it had done in previous versions?

I believe that while you can turn on the ability for an end-user to create private connections, only the administrator (that would be the application server administration) can create public connections.
Otherwise any end user could open a database connection to everyone, which wouldn't be very secure.

  • IPhone 6 (plus) Problem Display Edges Chipping (breaking away) or broken from factory (underside) No warranty coverage by Apple!

ACHTUNG! iPhone 6 (plus) Problem: Chipped (broken) edges of display glass. Owner Beware! Apple denied warranty coverage.
    Can this be true?
Recently I found a little trace on the edge of my iPhone 6. Very small, at the bottom edge of the display glass.
You could hardly make it out, but visible enough to catch the eye.
Since my iPhone 6 has never dropped or bumped in any way, I addressed this issue to AppleCare support, and sent them the device.
The upshot: Diagnostics of the technician’s: broken glass! Warranty coverage: DENIED!
This damage comes from improper usage or is an accidental damage.
The AppleCare adviser also confirmed that this device also is not qualified for any further warranty claim, because of the broken display.  (See Appels warranty conditions).
Apple returned my phone unrepaired. The sim tray was missing, and a note in the return package said, that warranty repair was denied and that I can buy a new device at apple store.
For me it is OBVIOUSLY a PRODUCTION ERROR by the manufacturer, and has to be fixed for free within the warranty.
I made pictures of this problem so you can see what I mean.
I can only recommend to anyone urgently, to carry a 10x loupe (preferably illuminated) to the store, if you are going to buy an iphone 6 or 6 plus.
Otherwise, if you catch a device with chipped edges on the glass you are out of warranty.
Please notice that the complete bottom edge has marks of broken and chipped glass!
I think the whole construction with the round edges is the problem. The glass is simply too thin at the edges.
It could be more iPhones suffering the same problem.
Btw: The glass surface on top is perfectly intact. The broken pieces are on the bottom!
You can feel nothing if you do not take the display apart.
However, I set up a mail with my lawyer and am waiting how Apple will respond.
They are of course also invited to discuss on community portals worldwide about this.
Please let me know what you think and if someone had success with the same problem.

Hi. I have the same problem. Unpacked a new iPhone6 and the phone had a small chip under the glass on the edge. Local store says that this is not covered as it would have been incorrect use. Pretty strange as it came out of the box like this and the metal edge of the phone is perfect (which shows that it was not dropped), just the glass is chipped (looks as if the chip is inside of the glass). To me it looks like a production issue as the glass is curved and gets thinner towards the edges. Would be interested if more people have the same issue in order to put a claim forward to Apple.....
