Discoverer 9i on windows 7

hi!
will discoverer 9i work on windows 7?
10x

Hello
Are you asking whether the application server can be installed on Windows7, whether you can use Discoverer Plus/Viewer on Windows7 or whether you can install Discoverer Admin/Desktop on Windows7?
I cannot give you a definitive answer on any of these as I have not tried installing 9i any time recently. I can tell you about some of them with Discoverer 10 though.
Using Discoverer 10.1.2 or 10.1.3 I have seen Discoverer Plus/Viewer running successfully on Windows7. However, you cannot use IE8 so you either have to use IE7 or use Firefox. Someone also told me that Google Chrome works ok too.
Using Discoverer 10.1.2 or 10.1.3 I have also seen Discoverer Admin/Desktop successfully installed onto Windows7.
Unfortunately, I have not seen or heard of anyone installing Discoverer Application Server on Windows7. This does not mean that it won't work and I'm sure if anyone reading this has been able to do it that they will let you know. The Application Server is always the most complicated to install.
If you have a Windows7 machine to hand and already have Discoverer 9i up and running I'd just give it a go and see if you can launch a Plus or Viewer window. If you cannot you have not lost anything.
Best wishes

You said, "...+I would like to install Release 2(11.1.1.2.0)+ ...". Be careful. 11.1.1.2.0 is not Release 2. The version for Rel 2 is 11.1.2.0, notice that there is one less "1". Also, there is no way to patch from Release 1 to Release 2.
In EDelivery, this is what you should find if you search on "Oracle Fusion Middleware" for "Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)":
First look for this link then drill into it:
Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Media Pack for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)
In this section you will find the following:
This is the full product installation of FMw 11 Release 2 (Forms & Reports)
    Oracle Forms and Reports 11g R2 (11.1.2.0.0) for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) V28761-01
This is the full product installation of FMw 11 Release 1 (includes Portal, Forms, Reports, and Disco)
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 1 of 4) V18785-01
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 2 of 4)
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 3 of 4)
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 4 of 4)
This is the FMw 11 Release 1 patch set that will bring the above 11.1.1.2.0 installation to 11.1.1.6.  This is NOT a full product installation - just a patch
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g Patch Set 5 (11.1.1.6.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) V29850-01
There are no patch sets for Release 2 as of yet.

  • Discoverer 11G on windows 7 XP mode virtual PC

We have installed Discoverer 11G on windows 7 64 bit using Microsoft MP Mode (32 bit) Virtual PC. Does anyone know where the tnsnames file should be placed in the registry? It isn't evident to us.
    Thanks!
    Nancy

    Hi Nancy
Your TNSNAME goes in the same place it always did here: $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
It is also possible to create a master folder for TNSNAMES on the machine. Here's how:
    1. Logon as Administrator.
    2. Create a new folder and place copies of your TNSNAMES and your SQLNET.ORA or LDAP.ORA, depending which type of access you are using
    3. From the Windows Start menu, launch Control Panel
    4. Double click the SYSTEM icon
    5. Select the Advanced tab.
    6. Click on the Environment Variables button
    7. Under System Variables click the New button
    8. In Variable Name enter TNS_ADMIN.
    9. In Variable Value enter the full path to the folder you created earlier.
For example: if the folder you created is called TNSADMIN under the root of the c: drive then you would enter c:\tnsadmin
    8. Click the OK button to close the New System Variable dialog box
    9. Continue closing the other windows

  • Discoverer Analytic Function windowing - errors and bad aggregation

I posted this first on Database General forum, but then I found this was the place to put it:
Hi, I'm using this kind of windowing function:
SUM(Receitas Especificas) OVER(PARTITION BY Tipo Periodo,Calculado,"Empresa Descrição (Operador)","Empresa Descrição" ORDER BY Ini Periodo RANGE BETWEEN INTERVAL '12' MONTH PRECEDING AND INTERVAL '12' MONTH PRECEDING )
If I use the "Receitas Especificas SUM" instead of
"Receitas Especificas" I get the following error running the report:
"an error occurred while attempting to run..."
This is not in accordance to:
    http://www.boku.ac.at/oradoc/ias/10g(9.0.4)/bi.904/b10268.pdf
but ok, the version without SUM inside works.
Another problem is the fact that for analytic function with PARTITION BY,
this does not work (shows the cannot aggregate symbol) if we collapse or use "<All>" in page items.
But it works if we remove the item from the PARTITION BY and also remove from workbook.
It's even worse for windowing functions(query above), because the query
only works if we remove the item from the PARTITION BY but we have to show it on the workbook - and this MAKES NO SENSE... :(
    Please help.

Unfortunately Discoverer doesn't show (correct) values for analytical functions when selecting "<All>" in a page item. I found out that it does work when you add the analytical function to the db-view instead of to the report as a calculation or as a calculated item on the folder.
The only problem is you've to name all page-items in the PARTITION window, so, when adding a page-item to the report, you,ve to change the db-view and alter the PARTITION window.

  • Discoverer Desktop on Windows 7

    Hi All,
Has anybody managed to install discoverer on windows 7.
I have tried installing with no luck..
Tried bypassing OS test, tried compatibility mode and no luck.
    I have version 10.1.2.1
    Can anyone please assist.
    Thank You

just follow the compatability mode wizard and you will be fine.
i renamed the install folder though, as the name i had was too long, and installer kept crashing.
so it ended up installing fine and now also runs with no probs

  • Discoverer Administrator on Windows 7 64 Bit

I want to install discoverer on windows 7 64 bit computer, which version work with this OS?

I installed Discoverer 11.1.1.3 on Windows 7 and it works fine.
To install it I had to go into Control Panel - User Accounts and set Change User Account Control Settings to 'Never Notify' then the install ran fine.
Then when running Disco Admin I had
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
To fix this you need to create a Windows environment variable TNS_ADMIN that points to the directory where the correct Tnsnames.ora file is held.
On my system, I went to 'Computer - System Properties - Advanced - Environment Variables", created an environment variable TNS_ADMIN and set its value to C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\network\ADMIN
Check where your server or other tnsnames file is stored and set the corresponding value.
    Then it all worked perfectly.

  • DIscoverer 9i and Windows 7

    Hi, everybody
¿Does anybody know if Discoverer 9i runs with no trouble on Winows 7?

    Hello
Your only chance for getting the Windows version (Admin and Desktop) to work would be to try installing it in XP mode. It definitely will not work in native Windows 7.
Why not take this opportunity to upgrade to 10g and get onto a fully supported version? This would be my recommendation.

    hi,
can we run dicoverer 4i on windows vista, i have done the installation but unbale to run discoverer, it gives bad memory errror (MEM_BAD_POINTER),

Vista Home edition is not supported by Oracle for any of its products. You need either business or higher editions of Vista, if that is the case.

  • Possible to run Discoverer 9i on Windows 2008 server

    Hello,
We have Oracle Discovere 9i currently running on a windows 2000 server against a oracle 9 database. The server is due to be upgraded to windows 2008 server - is it possible to install and run discoverer 9i on the new windows 2008 server - is there a compatibility mode ?
    Many thanks,

I don't know if CE holds a full blown version of a JVM required to run forms....we don't have any certification plans currently for CE.

  • Installation of Oracle Discoverer on Windows

    Hi All
I need to install Oracle Discoverer Desktop on windows platform if any one has detail installation documentation of this please give me the link ASAP as i m never installed this discoverer on windows i m doing it first time i know how to install database on windows so please help me and also give me the link that shows hows it works also
    please help me asap.

Here is the link to install Oracle Discoverer 10g Client.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/101202.html
Accept the license terms and click on Business Intelligence – Tools CD (for Microsoft Windows)
First, Discoverer checks for swap space, if you have an error saying swap space not enough, go to Control Panel-> System -> Advanced Tab -> Performance Options button
See available virtual memory. If it is less than 1535 MB, increase it by clicking on Change button
While installation, the installer prompts for new home, BIToolsHome_1. You can use the same name or change it, but this has to be a different home than Oracle home on your PC. Select ‘Custom’ installation type and from the Available Product Components, select ‘Oracle Discoverer Desktop’, also Administrator if you need it.
    Should be good to go.

  • Discoverer 10.1.2.3 with Windows 7

Can anyone share some information on discoverer 10.1.2.3 in a windows 7 envoriment
    Are there any issues with
    Desktop
    Plus
    Viewer

    Hi,
With viewer and plus you shouldn't have any particular issues since it works over the IE8
You will need to change the IE settings to shut down the pop up blocker and set it to open new window instead of opening in new tab.
About the desktop you can view this thread:
    Discoverer Desktop on Windows 7
By the way what CP did you installed after getting to 10.1.2.3 ?

  • Oracle Discoverer  on windows server 2008

I'm looking for oracle Discoverer download on windows server 2008(32 bit). I tried looking on ORACLE.COM but I'm not able to find one.
    Can someone point me...

    Hi
    Here is the link: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/htdocs/devlic.html?url=/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/101202.html
However, you may be disappointed because according to this matrix: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/files/as_certification_r2_101202.html it does not look like Server 2008 is a supported platform. I would ask Oracle Support to be sure or perhaps someone from Oracle reading this will advise.
When you get there you need to read the license agreement and then check and click the I Accept button to indicate that you understand and are willing to abide by the agreement.
Assuming you get the all clear, when you get to the main downloads page if you want the full application server you want the first row, if you want just Discoverer Plus / Viewer you want the row entitled Business Intelligence. You then look across the row for your operating system and then download all of the files that begin with CD. In your case because you are looking for the Microsoft Server version you need the software from the first column headed Microsoft Windows. Incidentally, if you need Discoverer Administrator and / or Desktop then it is also in the Microsoft Windows column and it is called Tools CD.
After you have installed Plus / Viewer (they both install at the same time) you version will be 10.1.2.0.2. This is the base version. You then need to log into MetaLink and download the 10.1.2.3 patch followed by the latest cumulative patch. This page on my blog will help with patch numbers: http://learndiscoverer.blogspot.com/2008/04/most-useful-patch-numbers.html

  • Differance between Discoverer and BI Discoverer

hi guyz ,am new to ebs and discoverer, one question always bother me what is differance in discoverer and BI Discoverer, according to my understanding discoverer is separate tool where we develop report then link it to BI and BI Discoverer is EBS builtin tool.if am right so what both r oracle product ,if it's also true why we need both ,why not single is enough.thanx

    Hi,
There is no difference. Discoverer is shipped with eBS but it is the same tool (though an older version) as the standalone Discoverer. eBS is also shipped with an predefined EUL and some reports which are integrated into some of the eBS menus. You can write your own reports and create your EUL and add the reports to the menus.
There are 4 Discoverer tools. Discoverer Plus, a web based report writing tool. Discoverer Viewer a web based report viewing tool. Discoverer Desktop, a windows based report writing tool and Discoverer Administrator used for managing the EUL.
You need all these tools to use Discoverer with eBS and they should be downloaded separately from eBS to ensure you have the latest versions.
