Hi Yram
Great explanation and good posting with lots of useful information.
You need to administer and log in to Apps as an Apps user. You use a database user only for the purposes of creating the EUL. It would take a long time to explain all of the steps here. However, I have an illustrated white paper on my downloads page that explains setting up an EUL in Apps mode.
At first glance though it sounds like you may not have defined a Gateway UserID and Foundation Name inside Discoverer Administrator. You do this using Tools | Options | Connection. The Gateway UserID and Password is usually applsyspub/pub, while the Foundation Name is apps. The entries are usually in lowercase.
My downloads page can be found at: http://learndiscoverer.com/downloads/downloads.htm and the document is called Setting up an Apps mode EUL.
Let me know how you get on.

  • Conflicts: Discoverer and Oracle Applications

    Hi,
I have Discoverer (Version 4.1.48.08.00) running on SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 integrated with Oracle Applications 11i.
Sometimes and unexpectedly the "APPS" user is locked and Oracle Applications needs to be restarted in order to work properly. I don't know the cause, but I'm sure it's caused by Discoverer because it happens exactly at periods of the month when Discoverer users are using it most, at very specific times.
Sorry to not have more details, but maybe someone have already had the same problem.
    Thanks a lot.
    Fiunes

    Hi Rachael
It is certified for use with E-Business Suite and as far as I know it is very stable, so long as you have applied the latest patch.
Like all previous versions of Discoverer you don't want to stay on the out of the box version for longer than you have to.
    Best wishes

  • Installation of forms reports and oracle application server 10g

    Hi,
I have been using client server till now, now planning to move to 10g. Got the developer suite 10g.
Tell me how and where to install forms/reports and Oracle application server... I mean forms reports should be on developer PC then what about application server? should it be on a different dedicated server? or can i have it on database server?
in case, if I install application server on one server and database is on another server then what about forms and reports?
please tell me which is the right option?

please tell me which is the right option?Ideally, you should have two separate server machines.
    One for the database server.
    One for the Application Server.
The Application Server is basically used for hosting your forms and reports, so you dont have to place the forms and reports on the developer PC or at any other server.

  • Run Oracle Web Logic and Oracle Application Server 10g on same server

Since oracle has chosen to release adf faces 11g, before the SOA suite 11g is released, we are facing the challenge to run both Oracle Web logic and Oracle Application Server 10g on the same server.
If anyone have any experience in this setup or has knowledge of other feasable setups please let me know.

What version of Oracle Application Server 10g are you installing?
If you are installing 10gR2 (v10.1.2.x) have you taken a look at point #70 in "Table 2 Additional Information for Certified Platforms" section here?

  • Difference between oracle Developer suit and Oracle Application Server???

    Dear all,,
If any one please tell me the main difference between Developer Suit and Oracle Application Server.
I will be very thank ful.
    Thank you
    Hina.

    Hi Hina
can i deploy my application build on oracle 10g using developer suite with db10g and I don't use application server? For individual use and development yes u can using oracle Developer suit after starting OC4J
but for client use for more than x user to be able to run reports using parameter forms and other forms application u must use Oracle Application Server
    An application server is
a server program in a computer in a distributed network that provides the business logic for an application program.
The application server is frequently viewed as part of a three-tier application, consisting of a graphical user interface (GUI) server, an application (business logic) server, and a database and transaction server.
More descriptively, it can be viewed as dividing an application into:
    --- A first-tier, front-end, Web browser-based---
1.graphical user interface, usually at a personal computer or workstation
2.A middle-tier business logic application or set of applications, possibly on a local area network or intranet server
3.A third-tier, back-end, database and transaction server, sometimes on a mainframe or large server
    Hope this helps,

  • Weblogic 5.1, Distributed Transaction and Oracle Database Link

We are planning to add a new functionality to run in Weblogic server and it
needs to update tables in two different Oracle databases. Since we are using
Weblogic 5.1 and it is unrealistic to upgrade to 6.1 in short term, we have
to deal with the fact that distributed transaction is not supported by JTS
    on 5.1.
One workaround we can think of is to utilize Oracle database link. Instead
of having two connection pools, the application talks to only one database
and access the tables on the other ones through Oracle database link.
Therefore, when a session bean tries to update two tables on database 1 in
one transaction, one of the tables is just a link to the other database. We
hope that even though distributed transaction is not supported by JTS in
Weblogic 5.1, but since it is supported by Orable, it would work.
Do you think the above workaround would work? Does anyone have experience on
    something like that?
    Thanks in advance,
    David Chen

Hi. You should be able to use any JDBC driver with WebLogic 5.1.
It may be the JVM that complains, if you use too old a JVM...

  • Call Discoverer from Oracle Applications

I need to view the discoverer workbooks from Oracle Applications
    menu. Sombody know how?

We ran into the same issue when we upgraded Disco to 10g (do not recall exact version) about 18 months ago - unfortunately, we are off till the new year and I will not be able to determine what the resolution was until then.
Pl see if any of these MOS Docs can help -
788706.1 - Error Unable To Connect To Oracle Applications Database 'afscpgcs' After Cloning An APPS Instance & Changing APPS Passwords
306235.1 - Launching A BIS Workbook Gives Unable To Connect To Oracle Applications Database (afscpgcs) Error

Try enabling tracing as noted in 370800.1 (How To Create An E-Business Suite Connection Trace For Discoverer 10g (10.1.2) Plus / Viewer) to see if you can find more details about the error.

  • Discover and Oracle Applications responsibilities

We (our organization) work with Oracle Application 11.0.3 on an 8.0.5 DataBase.
I work with Discoverer 4.1.37 and have correctly created and configured an EUL that use Oracle Applications users and responsibilities.
But now, I'd like to create one report that does'nt return the same data, depending of the connected responsibilities. We have defined 7 differents entities (7 differents GL_SETS_OF_BOOKS_ID) in our organization. The data must be confidential between these entities but it would be appreciated to use the same reports !
    How is it possible ?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Our responsibilities are secured, however, discoverer was not displaying any data for GL. It looks like the disco login did not initialize the packages by default. We fixed with the following profile options at the responsibility level (GL and FA)...
    Initialization SQL Statement - Custom
    begin fa_security.set_fa_context (fnd_global.resp_appl_id); end;
    Initialization SQL Statement - Oracle
    begin gl_security_pkg.init; end;
Kudos to my collegue Jon for figuring this one out.
    THanks,
    Jerry.

  • Php page and oracle forms link

    Dear All,
I am using Application server 10g to deploy my forms and reports. I have another web server on which I am giving users to login to access different applications. I have a php page and users are able to login there properly. But after login when they try to open the applications hosted on the Oracle Application Server 10g, they need to give user id and password again. Is it possible that we can link my web server and my application server so that users need not to login twice.
    Regards
    Trusha

This is possible only if the other server uses SSO.
Alternatively solution I am thinking ( Not tested )
1 Pass the username from the Server as a parameter to the welcome screen or
    the first form.
2 Login using a guest account to the database in the intial screen.
3 Store the username and password in a table. Only guest got the acces to this table and only from forms.
    4. When the userid is passed from the server, using guest account check if its a valid user name, if yes get the password from the table and login using that.
Note there is a risk of storing username /password in the database. So while storing the username/ password you can use some encryption and from the forms
    decrypt it.

  • BAM and Oracle application server 10.1.3???

    Hi,
I would like to understand more about integration between BAM and OAS.
I remember I read a document that stated that BAM was included (or was integrated) as part of OAS 10.1.3, however I installed it and still don;t see how it is integrating with OAS.
Also, in one of the Tutorials it mentions this:
"Note –if you are using Oracle Application Server with opmn process, the following
additional files are required in the above path:
    C:\OracleBAM\OC4J\opmn\lib\optic.jar
Copy the entire Application Server “opmn” directory to c:\oraclebam"
So... are there any additional steps for the OAS and BAM integration?
I am still learning BAM but mi goal is install it as part of EBS(order Manegemnet)-BPEL-OTM (oracle Transportation) integration installation I currently have.
If it can be integrated can it be done using iAS 10.1.2.0.2 instead?
    Thanks

Its recommended that you should use same versions of OAS and Oracle BAM.
For integration between OAS components and BAM you can check BAM tech notes (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/integration/bam/10.1.3/htdocs/1013_support.html#technotes)
    Hoping it will help you.

  • Oracle Pl/Sql and Oracle Application Express for Beginners

    Good day,
Have a prodigy that is strongly interested in oracle application express.Haven know that he will only do we in APEX if he is good in pl/sql and have some skills in html and javascripts.
For such person, what are the books that i can recommend for him, that will guide and assist him? Will be highly grateful if anybody can assist.

I think it also falsely gives the impression that one does not need to understand the database at all because Apex can do everything for you...This is why I echo Munky when he says that you need a solid understanding of data models and the database before attempting to build an application.
I absolutely concur with this view. When I first started using ApEx, I was basically given a user guide and told to get on with it :-) Subsequently, for the first 6 months or so, I built probably fairly lousy (but functional) apps until I got a better grasp of Oracle architecture.
That being said, SQL is an absolute must if you are going to work on a database. PL/SQL really should be learned as well because your application will be limited without it. CSS and Javascript and nice to have's, but they can be learned as you go. Since all of the api's are built in pl/sql, it would really hinder what you could do if you didn't know it.One resource I have found very useful is the good old 'Ant' book a.k.a. Oracle PL/SQL Programming by Feuerstein, et al. I have a well-thumbed 4th edition sitting on my desk at the moment - weirdly for a text book, rather a joy to read.
I personally found Jay-Lew's "Cost-based Oracle Fundamentals" a somewhat bitterer pill to swallow - tough on the way down but good for one's constitution!

  • Discoverer and Oracle 9i Olap Option

    Hello,
I have a question regarding Discoverer and OLAP option in Oracle 9i. Is it required to buy OLAP Option
with Oracle9i when using 9iAS Discoverer or can I use it without this option?
As I know Oracle BI Beans make use of 9i OLAP Option and Discoverer Graphs use Graph Component of BI
Beans, so how this situation concerns OLAP Option (I haven't found any information that OLAP Option is required to use Discoverer)?
    Regards,
    Aleksander Miler

    Hi,
Oracle OLAP is a multidimensional database on the top of the Oracle 9i database. It works like Oracle Express(MOLAP server).
Anyway, you don't need to install Oracle OLAP option when you use Discoverer.
