Discoverer Catalog install problem

Hi
I have installed oracle database 11g Entreprise Edition and the part of Application Server for Bussiness Intellicence using the two CD at this link:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/101202.html
My problem is that i cannot create the Discoverer Catalog properly.
I am getting this error:
Error - oracle.dss.d4o.administration.D4OInstallationException: D4O-1124 Post-install verification failed, found the following invalid object(s): BISM_CALC_FILTER
If i ignore the problem and log in in order to manage the Catalog and Authorize users and Roles, the column for Available users/roles is empty...
This is my result for select comp_name, version, status from sys.dba_registry;

I have received on another forum the following answer:
Hi
You are aware that you are attempting an OLAP connection? Is that what you intended? If so, you need to make sure you have the OLAP option enabled in the database. It's not free and will cost you additional licenses fees to use it. Assuming you already have the option enabled and licensed have you created an analytic workspace and enabled the D40 schema?
Unless you're really experienced with OLAP and setting up analytic workspaces you're going to find this quite hard to do. If you're trying to learn Discoverer you ought to install an EUL and connect using the non-OLAP option.
Best wishes
Michael
I don't quite understand beacause i am kind of new in working with oracle.
From the result posted above it seems i have the OLAP option enabled, right?
The ideea is that - for my bachelor degree's project - i've created a cube in Oracle Warehouse Builder and i want to extract the data in order to analyze the data.
If i cannot do this with Discoverer plus, what do you recomand i should use?
Thanks

  • Installing Discoverer Catalog on 10.1.2.0.2?

I was trying to install the Discoverer Catalog usint the EM Application Server Control on 10.1.2.0.2 and I got a post installation error that it was unable to compile the package BISM_CALC_FILTER because the table ALL_OLAP2_CUBE_MEASURES didn't exist. I'm installing into 10.2 database does anyone know why this table doesn't exist?

It turns out that my DBA needed to install the OLAP option which creates this table.

  • Error when trying to manage Discoverer Catalog

    Hi!
I've installed Oracle 10g Business Intelligence on a Windows 2000 server. Using the Enterprise Manager, I was also able to create the Discoverer Catalog (D4OSYS schema). But, whenever I try to "Login to Manage Discoverer Catalog", I get the following error:
Error - oracle.dss.d4o.administration.D4OConnectionException-D4O-1103 Error while connecting to the Discoverer Catalog.
Now, I'm 100% sure that the login credentials are correct. Any searches for this error (on OTN or Google) come up with nothing. Can someone please explain to me what is going on? I get the feeling that this is a bug of some kind. If so, are any patches available?
Must say, my confidence in Oracle's new web-based Enterprise Managers are dropping by the minute. Found some nasty bugs in the Database Enterprise Manager with regards to Dimension and Cube creation. Does anybody else have the same experiences?
    Thanks

I got the same error. Opened a TAR on it, but got no solution yet, though we have verified all the basics. Any answer out there somewhere?

  • Lightroom catalog permission problem!

    Hi everyone,
please help me solve this problem. I reinstall OS X last night to new Yosemite. I did clean install. I made TM backup of my old OS X on external LaCie hdd. I copied my catalog from the backup into my pictures folder on an internal hdd. When I tried to open it this message pops up "Lightroom cannot use the catalog named “Lightroom 5 Catalog” because it is not writable and cannot be opened.". Just to be clear the "get info" permissions are set for "Me" R/W. I don't have any different file inside the folder "pictures" only my catalog.ircat. I can't open original file from the LaCie backup, also permission problem. Thanks for help.

it's all ok. The file for some reason have some info written about the owner. I did change that but it does not matter and still don't work. If I want rename the file then I have to put the password and that is why LR can't work with it. I found the solution already (after 5 hours searching the internet) This helped me http://backdrift.org/fixing-mac-osx-file-permissions-and-acls-from-the-command-line I used sudo chmod -N /here is path to the file/ and enter. This solved all my trouble and I can open the catalog without problems.

  • Application Catalog - Installing as Different User?

We're in the process of gradually rolling out the Application in our organization in phases.  Eventually we want to roll it out to end users for anything site licensed.  But we aren't ready to go there yet.
We essentially have two sets of applications.  The "user set" is All site-licensed software while the "technician set" is all site-licensed software and some departmental software.  Technicians are instructed as to which users
get which software but, unfortunately, it can't strictly be done by OUs as AD is a mess and that makes it an annoyingly manual process.
First, we rolled the technician set out for technicians building machines.  We haven't implemented imaging yet as there are some business process issues but this is working as a good transitional step to get the technicians used to SCCM and the Application
Catalog. We ran into a couple of minor but reasonably documented issues (for instance, our client settings had the web alias rather than server name so we had the "Protected Mode" problems) but there were easy enough workarounds (run as admin) and
    then eventually fixes.
Desktop technicians were given an application set next and it worked well for them.  We have most anything install for all users so they would log in, use the Application Catalog, install the software, and then turn the computer back over to the user.
Currently, we were hoping to roll it out for the Service Desk. However, this requires them to log into someone else's machine and run IE using their technician admin credentials rather than it being the user's credentials.  They use the standard Windows
Remote Assistance as a remote tool and we'd like them to be able to install or re-install anything from the technician set.
Unfortunately, this leads to the following "Application Installation not started" error (presumably point 2):
Before encountering the error, we thought a good workaround would be to run IE as another user but that violates point 3 and we get the same error.
And the Silverlight logs (ConfigMgrSoftwareCatalog.log - btw, I love the path you have to wander down to find them) give the following 3 error messages:
    * ApplicationDetailViewModel.InstallAppProgression-Error:User is not allowed or supported to install on the current machine
    * ApplicationDetailViewModel.UpdatePageView:PageViewMode changed to:FastInstallError
    * FastInstallPageView:Create Page View FastInstallError
Which follow what the error message says: it's basically a permissions issue.
So, we have two constraints that I'm looking to work around:
    * We need a catalog that only technicians have access to and not end users (it's one thing for a technician to go off the reservation and install 10 additional unneeded copies but it's another to open it up for 30K users to do the same)
    * The technicians need to be able to access it when another user is logged in
Is there a possible solution that I'm overlooking?  Some client setting or workaround?
TL;DR: Is there a way to use some a different user's credential to install applications via the Application catalog (because they have a different application set) when another user is logged in?

    Hi,
Yes, that would be the way. as we target users the correct way would be to target the end-user with the application and either use remote tools or remote assistance to assist troubleshoot if any issues occour. If a technician would log on and install the
application the Primary device concept could not be used either.

  • OS 9 Install problem on imac G3

    hello all,
i have an OS install problem on my imac . I just finished formatting the drive . the drive is
    paritioned :
    1st partition = HD1: 5.5 Gb
    2nd partition = HD2 : 2.5 Gb
    3rd partition = HD3 : 110+ Gb
Then, in order to save some time ( i thought ) , i tried directly install os 9 from an imac
DV CD , on HD1 : i thought i d be quicker so i would have to start with os 8.5 then upgrade to 8.6 and etc .
that turned out to be a bad idea. the system install warned me it couldnt install Air port because the hardware wasnt compatible . it gave me two options : either ignore this message or quit . i chose ignore : again certainly a bad choice .
After the install was finished , the mac wouldnt start on HD1 . the sytem install is apparently incomplete ,or anycase it doesnt work .
i then installed os 8.5 from original imac tray load install CD on HD2 , and it works fine .
now the question is : what should i do with my bad os9 system ? i need an operating system on this partition. perhaps i can trash it and reinstall mac os8.5 on it ? i hope there is a way to get out of this without formatting the drive again .
    thanks for any advice .

about the os9 CD : it is a retail verson , only not of the same imac model .
That is not a retail version of OS 9. A retail version of OS 9 has no dependencies on any model of Mac. You have a machine specific disc which probably won't work with your iMac.
1/ i dont know how to reformat a partition without formatting the entire drive . perhaps you can explain .
In OS X you use Disk Utility and only select the partition that you want to reformat. It has been ages since I used OS 8 so I'm not sure if it is even possible using "Drive Setup".

  • LR 4.4 (and 5.0?) catalog: a problem and some questions

    Introductory Remark
After several years of reluctance this March I changed to LR due to its retouching capabilities. Unfortunately – beyond enjoying some really nice features of LR – I keep struggling with several problems, many of which have been covered in this forum. In this thread I describe a problem with a particular LR 4.4 catalog and put some general questions.
A few days ago I upgraded to 5.0. Unfortunately it turned out to produce even slower ’speed’ than 4.4 (discussed – among other places – here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5454410#5454410), so I rather fell back to the latter, instead of testing the behavior of the 5.0 catalog. Anyway, as far as I understand this upgrade does not include significant new catalog functions, so my problem and questions below may be valid for 5.0, too. Nevertheless, the incompatibility of the new and previous catalogs suggests rewriting of the catalog-related parts of the code. I do not know the resulting potential improvements and/or new bugs in 5.0.
For your information, my PC (running under Windows 7) has a 64-bit Intel Core i7-3770K processor, 16GB RAM, 240 GB SSD, as well as fast and large-capacity HDDs. My monitor has a resolution of 1920x1200.
    1. Problem with the catalog
To tell you the truth, I do not understand the potential necessity for using the “File / Optimize Catalog” function. In my view LR should keep the catalog optimized without manual intervention.
Nevertheless, when being faced with the ill-famed slowness of LR, I run this module. In addition, I always switch on the “Catalog Settings / General / Back up catalog” function. The actually set frequency of backing up depends on the circumstances – e.g. the number of RAW (in my case: NEF) files, the size of the catalog file (*.lrcat), and the space available on my SSD. In case of need I delete the oldest backup file to make space for the new one.
Recently I processed 1500 photos, occupying 21 GB. The "Catalog Settings / Metadata / Automatically write changes into XMP" function was switched on. Unfortunately I had to fiddle with the images quite a lot, so after processing roughly half of them the catalog file reached the size of 24 GB. Until this stage there had been no sign of any failure – catalog optimizations had run smoothly and backups had been created regularly, as scheduled.
Once, however, towards the end of generating the next backup, LR sent an error message saying that it had not been able to create the backup file, due to lack of enough space on the SSD. I myself found still 40 GB of empty space, so I re-launched the backup process. The result was the same, but this time I saw a mysterious new (journal?) file with a size of 40 GB… When my third attempt also failed, I had to decide what to do.
Since I needed at least the XMP files with the results of my retouching operations, I simply wanted to save these side-cars into the directory of my original input NEF files on a HDD. Before making this step, I intended to check whether all modifications and adjustments had been stored in the XMP files.
Unfortunately I was not aware of the realistic size of side-cars, associated with a certain volume of usage of the Spot Removal, Grad Filter, and Adjustment Brush functions. But as the time of the last modification of the XMP files (belonging to the recently retouched pictures) seemed perfect, I believed that all my actions had been saved. Although the "Automatically write changes into XMP" seemed to be working, in order to be on the safe side I selected all photos and ran the “Metadata / Save Metadata to File” function of the Library module. After this I copied the XMP files, deleted the corrupted catalog, created a new catalog, and imported the same NEF files together with the side-cars.
When checking the photos, I was shocked: Only the first few hundred XMP files retained all my modifications. Roughly 3 weeks of work was completely lost… From that time on I regularly check the XMP files.
Question 1: Have you collected any similar experience?
    2. The catalog-related part of my workflow
Unless I miss an important piece of knowledge, LR catalogs store many data that I do not need in the long run. Having the history of recent retouching activities is useful for me only for a short while, so archiving every little step for a long time with a huge amount of accumulated data would be impossible (and useless) on my SSD. In terms of processing what count for me are the resulting XMP files, so in the long run I keep only them and get rid of the catalog.
Out of the 240 GB of my SSD 110 GB is available for LR. Whenever I have new photos to retouch, I make the following steps:
create a ‘temporary’ catalog on my SSD
import the new pictures from my HDD into this temporary catalog
select all imported pictures in the temporary catalog
use the “File / Export as Catalog” function in order to copy the original NEF files onto the SSD and make them used by the ‘real’ (not temporary) new catalog
use the “File / Open Catalog” function to re-launch LR with the new catalog
switch on the "Automatically write changes into XMP" function of the new catalog
delete the ‘temporary’ catalog to save space on the SSD
retouch the pictures (while keeping and eye on due creation and development of the XMP files)
generate the required output (TIF OR JPG) files
copy the XMP and the output files into the original directory of the input NEF files on the HDD
copy the whole catalog for interim archiving onto the HDD
delete the catalog from the SSD
upon making sure that the XMP files are all fine, delete the archived catalog from the HDD, too
Question 2: If we put aside the issue of keeping the catalog for other purposes then saving each and every retouching steps (which I address below), is there any simpler workflow to produce only the XMP files and save space on the SSD? For example, is it possible to create a new catalog on the SSD with copying the input NEF files into its directory and re-launching LR ‘automatically’, in one step?
Question 3: If this I not the case, is there any third-party application that would ease the execution of the relevant parts of this workflow before and/or after the actual retouching of the pictures?
Question 4: Is it possible to set general parameters for new catalogs? In my experience most settings of the new catalogs (at least the ones that are important for me) are copied from the recently used catalog, except the use of the "Catalog Settings / Metadata / Automatically write changes into XMP" function. This means that I always have to go there to switch it on… Not even a question is raised by LR whether I want to change anything in comparison with the settings of the recently used catalog…
    3. Catalog functions missing from my workflow
Unfortunately the above described abandoning of catalogs has at least two serious drawbacks:
I miss the classification features (rating, keywords, collections, etc.) Anyway, these functions would be really meaningful for me only if covering all my existing photos that would require going back to 41k images to classify them. In addition, keeping all the pictures in one catalog would result in an extremely large catalog file, almost surely guaranteeing regular failures. Beyond, due to the speed problem tolerable conditions could be established only by keeping the original NEF files on the SSD, which is out of the question. Generating several ‘partial’ catalogs could somewhat circumvent this trap, but it would require presorting the photos (e.g. by capture time or subject) and by doing this I would lose the essence of having a single catalog, covering all my photos.
Question 5: Is it the right assumption that storing only some parts (e.g. the classification-related data) of catalog files is impossible? My understanding is that either I keep the whole catalog file (with the outdated historical data of all my ‘ancient’ actions) or abandon it.
Question 6: If such ‘cherry-picking’ is facilitated after all: Can you suggest any pragmatic description of the potential (competing) ways of categorizing images efficiently, comparing them along the pros and contras?
I also lose the virtual copies. Anyway, I am confused regarding the actual storage of the retouching-related data of virtual copies. In some websites one can find relatively old posts, stating that the XMP file contains all information about modifying/adjusting both the original photo and its virtual copy/copies. However, when fiddling with a virtual copy I cannot see any change in the size of the associated XMP file. In addition, when I copy the original NEF file and its XMP file, rename them, and import these derivative files, only the retouched original image comes up – I cannot see any virtual copy. This suggests that the XMP file does not contain information on the virtual copy/copies…
For this reason whenever multiple versions seem to be reasonable, I create renamed version(s) of the same NEF+XMP files, import them, and make some changes in their settings. I know, this is far not a sophisticated solution…
Question 7: Where and how the settings of virtual copies are stored?
Question 8: Is it possible to generate separate XMP files for both the originally retouched image and its virtual copy/copies and to make them recognized by LR when importing them into a new catalog?

A part of my problems may be caused by selecting LR for a challenging private project, where image retouching activities result in bigger than average volume of adjustment data. Consequently, the catalog file becomes huge and vulnerable.
While I understand that something has gone wrong for you, causing Lightroom to be slow and unstable, I think you are combining many unrelated ideas into a single concept, and winding up with a mistaken idea. Just because you project is challenging does not mean Lightroom is unsuitable. A bigger than average volume of adjustment data will make the catalog larger (I don't know about "huge"), but I doubt bigger by itself will make the catalog "vulnerable".
The causes of instability and crashes may have NOTHING to do with catalog size. Of course, the cause MAY have everything to do with catalog size. I just don't think you are coming to the right conclusion, as in my experience size of catalog and stability issues are unrelated.
    2. I may be wrong, but in my experience the size of the RAW file may significantly blow up the amount of retouching-related data.
Your experience is your experience, and my experience is different. I want to state clearly that you can have pretty big RAW files that have different content and not require significant amounts of retouching. It's not the size of the RAW that determines the amount of touchup, it is the content and the eye of the user. Furthermore, item 2 was related to image size, and now you have changed the meaning of number 2 from image size to the amount of retouching required. So, what is your point? Lots of retouching blows up the amount of retouching data that needs to be stored? Yeah, I agree.
When creating the catalog for the 1500 NEF files (21 GB), the starting size of the catalog file was around 1 GB. This must have included all classification-related information (the meaningful part of which was practically nothing, since I had not used rating, classification, or collections). By the time of the crash half of the files had been processed, so the actual retouching-related data (that should have been converted properly into the XMP files) might be only around 500 MB. Consequently, probably 22.5 GB out of the 24 GB of the catalog file contained historical information
I don't know exactly what you do to touch up your photos, I can't imagine how you come up with the size should be around 500MB. But again, to you this problem is entirely caused by the size of the catalog, and I don't think it is. Now, having said that, some of your problem with slowness may indeed be related to the amount of touch-up that you are doing. Lightroom is known to slow down if you do lots of spot removal and lots of brushing, and then you may be better off doing this type of touch-up in Photoshop. Again, just to be 100% clear, the problem is not "size of catalog", the problem is you are doing so many adjustments on a single photo. You could have a catalog that is just as large, (i.e. that has lots more photos with few adjustments) and I would expect it to run a lot faster than what you are experiencing.
So to sum up, you seem to be implying that slowness and catalog instability are the same issue, and I don't buy it. You seem to be implying that slowness and instability are both caused by the size of the catalog, and I don't buy that either.
Re-reading your original post, you are putting the backups on the SSD, the same disk as the working catalog? This is a very poor practice, you need to put your backups on a different physical disk. That alone might help your space issues on the SSD.

  • Nano install problems. Works on USB 1.1!

Twelve months ago I went through the getting an IPOD to install properly problems with my son's IPOD, on his all singing all dancing new PC. Only finally resolved this by installing via the firewire port rather than USB. Therefore it was with some trepidation that I recently got a Nano for my wife's birthday, but hey I thought someone like Apple would have got their act together in the interim and installing should be straight forward. Have they? NO! Tried installing the Nano on my aging Pentium III which has a USB 2.0 PCI card, and for which all other devices plugged into it worked OK. Couldn't even get Windows to properly recognise it "A problem occurred during harware install your device may not be working properly". Tried Apple's suggestions and other users suggestions all to no avail. Firewire install option is not a possibility with Nano, but finally thought why not try one of the USB 1.1 ports on my aging computer, and guess what it installed first time and works without any problems. Transfer rate is not to bad either 850 songs in 1hr 10min. The only slightly different thing I did (which some other users also say) is not to re-boot the computer at the end of installation when it prompts you to and start using Itunes straight away and do some downloading then re-boot later.
Not much comfort to users with newer PC's but if you have an older computer with a USB 1.1 port and have install problems, try it as it may work for you as well.
Like every one else with install problems on PC's I say "come on Apple" individually or together with Microsoft please get this sorted out. My view of Apple was that they have great products (still true) that are easy to use (still true) and install without problems (patently not true).
    Pentium III 800   Windows XP

Gosh, I have tried this many times. Over several days. I have also reset the shuffle, which as far as I can tell, consists of turning it on and then off.
Last night, it started updating the music via the keyboard USB 1.1, which I know takes forever. Then it lost communications and quit.

  • Logic Studio Install Problems

Purchased Logic Studio a couple weeks ago.  The first set I recieved would not install correctly and it errored out several times regardless of how I went about installing it.  Contacted Apple Support and they indicated I may have a bad set of disks so I returned my set and recieved a new set yesterday.  Install problems continue but now different.  Orginal set woudl load a coiuple of disks then error out.  This set will laod the install disk then when asked to insert the Audio Content 1 disk the computer will spin th edisk around a few times the spit it out.  Tried several times and even tried inserting other content disks.  I've read some of the conent here and some mention a possibel bad DVD Drive but I do no think my DVD Drive is the problem since after trying the Logic Studio set I successfully installed FrameForge.
When I attempted to install the first set of disks last week I was able to select all the options, SoundTrack Pro, Mainstage, etc.  On this set my SoundTrack Pro option is grayed out and I cannot select it to load.  I read here last week, when the first set would not load, to remove everything associated with Logic Studio and try again, which I did.  Is it possible there are remneants remaining somewhere on my system that is disallowing the SoundTrack install this time?

  • Solaris 8 Install Problem - Partition(s)

First, I am a relative "newbie" when it comes to SUN Solaris and System Adminstration, though I know enough UNIX to be dangerous (read "get me into trouble" - hahaha).
I tried to do an "upgrade" to the O/S (2.7) on my Ultra 5, but when doing an "initial install", the system will only allow me to set the partitions/slices manually at the cylinder level. Any attempts to do so have failed, as I keep getting an "overlapping cylinder" error message, regardless of how I try to setup root, /usr, etc. The Solaris 8 O/S setup swap as follows:
    Starting - 3275 Size - 1110
FYI, I was trying to do the install using the Solaris 8 CDROM, Solaris build date 2/02.
Overall, I appear to be having a lot of issues with the Seagate Medalist ST34321A (4.1 Gbyte) drive that came with my Sun Ultra 5. The drive appears to work correctly, but an attempts to "wipe out" the drive (reformat) have not met with success.
Any suggestions anyone can provide regarding the install problem would be appreciated.

If you are trying to Upgrade to Sol 8 it is strongly suggested that you do not use the Installation CD. Use CD 1 of 2 with a boot cdrom. You will have to answer the sysid questions and then should get prompted for Initial Install or Upgrade. If you do not get the Upgrade prompt then there is a problem with your original Sol 7 system. Things like nfs mounts in vfstab, links to /var/sadm/patch, pkg or install/contents.
An Upgrade should not be asking you to lay out filesystems. It should use your existing ones.

  • Solaris 10 install problem (requested image to big to fit into memory)

I have just downloaded the iso images and burned to disk. When I go to install I get the message (Requested image to big to fit into memory Error 28) I have 1.5GB so I don't understand the problem. Thanks in advance
It took a long time for me to figure out, but the answer is disable in BIOS memory hole at 15M to 16M. This solved the install problem with Open Solaris and quite a few more such as not being able to install Linux Zenwalk 5.0 or openSUSE 10.3. Their are others also problems I have had with Linux or UNIX that this took care of. JGZ
Edited by: jgz on Mar 8, 2008 9:13 PM

    Hi,
I had been able to solve the Error 28 issue that in my case was really related to a corrupted boot image:
    1. I went in the path /a/platform/i86pc
    2. rm boot_archive.
    3. sync
    4. reboot
At this point the OS will notice the absence of the boot_image and it will regenerate it.
At the time of this operation the CD with solaris 10 was inserted in the CDROM.
When the system restarted it was able to load the OS properly.
Please use these information at your own risk. I do not accept any liablity.
    Cheers

  • Install problem Error with Z drive

Our IT guys configure our machines with a Z drive as a network share.   Any ideas how to resolve the conflict with PE9 install.

I did not pick the Z drive for install.  I always pick the C drive if given the option.  But PE9 just went to work on its own and told me it could not install to the Z drive... there is a known issue posted here along these lines, however, so I think Adobe is on to it... of course i had to install as a trial version on a second machine to test the disk burning...then I have to solve the install problem, so I can install the license on the machine with the install problem.... all a big catch 22.  Here's the link on the install issue... I get the 1327 invalid drive error:
